Hi guys,
Bit frustrated here, I've got a new Huawei P20 Pro but I'm having issues transferring Android over from my Pixel(1) XL -
The Huawei seems to have some kind of Phone Transfer app, but it hasn't seemed to work properly.
Is there not an app that does all this crap?
When I got the Pixel, it asked me if I had an old Android, I plugged both phones together and it sucked literally everything off the old phone, including desktop backgrounds, ringtones, the lot, including all my mp3 files and pics etc!
Why can't the P20 do this as well? It's Android isn't it?
I've even tried searching on my Google Drive for a Backup that is there when I look at if on the Pixel ("Pixel XL Backup") but not there when I look on the P20!
So I've looked about a bit on the net, and the Pixel is Android 9 P and the P20 is Android 8.1.0 O - which is probably why the P20 can't see the Backup?
Please can someone help me, do I really have to wait for the P20 to get it's Android P update? When will that be? ?
There MUST be an easier way to do this?
Any help massively appreciated..
The p20 pro should get Pie pretty soon because the beta been done testing. Also it should be possible to restore from the google account because then it will only redownload the apps and then try to put in the settings but other then that i wont do much.

You're absolutely right. It doesn't seem to work as I also came from the Pixel XL. However, I upgraded my wife's Nexus 6P to my old Pixel and it also refused to restore her Nexus backup. It could be something on Google's end.
I'm having the same issues. It's so frustrating.

So after updating to 7.0 there are a couple of things I notice, firstly Chinese stuff like numbers on the dialer, music app, video app, and so forth still persist. The remote app wasn't there after the update so I manually downloaded it, now it is not connecting to devices. Battery is sometimes good, sometimes bad but this is because factory reset didn't work properly after unlocking the bootloader and after flashing the update. So if anyone has any help, and experience let's help each other
I got official 7.0 via OTA and I am really disappointed because battery is really wasted too fast. Google launcher is not working anymore...is closed after few minutes. Bluetooth is sound very bad on my media nav in car, before had no problem. I am thinking to downgrade to 6...

Bluetooth is very bugy on my P9 emui 4... After disabling Bluetooth, it would not get colorless like the other disabled buttons but stay in a state between full blue (activated) and Grey (deactivated). I had severe difficulties connecting to a JBL Flip 3... Kind of embarrassing for a flagship phone.

Hey same problem here! Did you happen to notice that you can't even send or receive files via bluetooth?
First of all, its not ""embarrassing"", dont judge whole series of devices or company, by your separate problem, its like saying that all Ford cars are bad, because your car have one problem... Dont you think its kinda... stupid to say such thing?
As for problem it self, its hard to say whats wrong, I would suggest turning BT on and then off via setting section, reboot phone and then check if it work correctly. Then all what I can think of is checking services(force close them) and checking logs if you know how.
If that simple method will not work... well it would be nice to know your OS version, but as you said you have EMUI 4, and I can just guess that its latest 4.1.1, I can just say "update your phone to latest version"....
And if you dont want to update to EMUI 5, because someone say you that its bad(no its not, people who say that just messed up something), and you want to stay with EMUI 4(damn know why if EMUI 5 is the same if not better), I would suggest you to make backup via huawei app, PC if you have files on phone and google sync, and then factory reset phone.
Last time I did that, with reverting backup it took me about hour, but I had lots of files on PC to transfer, so whole process of factory reset and reverting backups should take about 30-40min depending on your internet and what you backup.
I would love to get emui 5, but that's another matter... I have no idea when I will get it (c150).
We have exactly the same problem on our Huawei P8 lite's (managing 25 devices). So it seems not related to the model. So far no clue how to solve...
Good mornin everyone.
I received a P9 Plus that has been modded but has some issues, the biggest one is that it doesn't connect to my SIM. I would like to fix it, I have some skills at working on it but I don't know what to try, maybe installing the stock rom?
Right now it is on EMUI VIE-AL10 8.0.0.528(C00Patch01), the only thing I know is the before modding it was on VIE-AL9 or something like that and has weird things like chinese default apps even if it's a europe-branded.
Do you guys think there's something to do?
Thanks
Sorry if this has been posted, it's been years since I've logged into my account and can't figure out how to just search the Pixel 5a forum alone.
Anyway, ever since I got my pixel 5a Android 12 has had an issue dropping bluetooth in the middle of a call while connected to my vehicles. It really doesn't matter which one either. In fact, a friend of mine has a Pixel 6 pro and his does the same thing in his car. I can't find any info on Google about this being reported. In fact, I had Google send me a new Pixel 5a, before I knew about my friend and the new one is doing it too. They had no idea about this issue.
Anyone else experiencing this? Any fixes or work arounds? I've played with the bluetooth settings in developer options at Google supports suggestion and that didn't help either.
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
I'm very new to android roms
Well, I did a little bit of that back in pre-2010 times and some times with my samsung galaxy nexus, but I assume things have changed a lot since then.
I have many XT1929-17 Z3 non-play and a couple Z4 XT1380 and a few Z2F
I want to try many things,
Download all firmware from each phone, and upload firmware to a phone (I guess that's the flash device and radio firmware , not sure)
Make setup a phone to my taste, make a backup so I can continue messing around without having to go through the entire setup process again !
Next, I have the crappy verizon firmware, I would like the stock android or Z3 motorola stock firmware instead of the verizon one ! WIth all the non-erasable bloat- and spy-ware
Next, I am stuck on Android 9 forever, I would like to try android 10/11/12 especially if the moto mods and gestures are still working. Really, just android 10 would be great, the only thing I really want is darkmode notifications and settings !
After that, if there are roms for those, I would like to try lineageos, grapheneos, pixel experience and the other popular firmwares that are made for many phones.
I would like the fastboot and adb windows 10 offline drivers to remote control all aspects of the phone. (I will be using many of those phones as wifi cameras and I'm trying to reliably stop and start recording 240fps video with wifi remote control)
Oh, and I would like to try just plain linux on those phones, if that's even possible. Even if that's just cpu/ram/wifi. I'd like to use one of them as a mini server
I think that's pretty much all I want to try with these phones, do you have advice on how to do this on Moto Z3 non-play ?
Thanks !
you cannot run linux on android smartphone, except you're talking about "linux" on top of "android kernel" which still provides full hardware HAL access. the overhead is nearly the same as running android, so no point in this. but here you go.
