[Volume Issue] Ringtone and Notification Sound not working until restart - Xiaomi Mi A2 / 6X Questions & Answers

Hi there, anyone experience ringtone volume issues? This happen very frequently after I jump back and forth with the vibrant and silent function. When i switch back to normal profile, incoming calls and notification does not have sound. Even when i go to settings and wind the volume to the max, i still do not get any sound with incoming calls and notification, until i restart the phone.
Running on the August security patch, unrooted.

I am having a similar issue on my Mia2. When I jump back to normal from silent no notification sound, but can hear the ring tone for incoming calls. September security update installed.

Just try whether do not disturb mode is disabled

I do have the same problem it is painful u miss most of the call's even it doesn't vibrate too, I checked with Mi Support team they are asking to do a soft reset and then register a complaint if problem exists , I haven't tried yet since just I have migrated to this mobile its tedious to go through the square 1 process., If any solution appears please keep us updated, If I try the soft reset and solution work will let you all know...

I have the same problem and unfortunately I have not found a solution to this problem. Will write me if u find. Thx.

I'm having the same issue on my MI a2. September security update. I had this phone from less than a month, maybe two weeks and this problem appear this morning when my alarm sound doesn't turn on. Than later today I had the same problem. I hope they fix this with the next update because it cost a lot of problems.

It seems like it has hit a few users. Hope Xiaomi fixes it

Same issue.. Message tone not working
---------- Post added at 02:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:24 PM ----------
I have found the solution.
Go to Settings > App & Notifications > Messages > App Notifications > Additional settings in the app > Notifications > Importance > Select high
That's it

Same here, it's painful. What a mess

Had similar problem with MI A2 bought recently. The issue was that default notification sound was set to a file which was missing. I can also be because of the default notification sound could be set to none.
Go to Settings -> Sound -> Default Notification Sound, and set a default sound. Once you have done it, you can customise the sound from within individual apps like whatsapp, messengers, message.
Hope this helps.

solve Mi a2 ring tone problem
Download es file exlporar install it.
Open ......
(Phone setting) settings/sound /phone ring tone...
Complete action using es file explorar...
(Select always)
Brows, your ring tone folder
Select file...
Now call to your phone and check

Same maybe on Redmi Note 8 Pro
Model: Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro 6/128
MIUI: Global 11.0.2, Stable(11.0.2.0, PGGEUXM)
Android: 9 PPR1.180610.011
Why would Note 8 Pro's notification volume is controlled by media volume?
For example, when notification received from Facebook or such, its sound is muted or when trying choose a notification sound in settings it shows toast "Ringer is silenced".
When media volume is increased everything works, but this will play from videos or music player with sound through speakers which is not what is needed!
Current volume settings:

Is that a bug?! If so, how to remove that then? All updates are installed and phone was bought less than a week ago.
How would it be possible to separate them? What then these volume bars mean?!

I'm having a weird problem with my xiaomi a2. First of all, there is a delay when unlocking the phone-and it starts with the sound distortion. Whenever I listen to music or podcast(both with and without headphones), the sounds disappears every few minutes and it pauses the song, waits a second, and then goes back to normal before disappearing again. Also I can't call or receive calls. All those bugs happen simultaneously and restarting the phone helps(no delay, I can receive calls and there's no sound distortion), but only for like 30 minutes. I tried factory resetting the phone etc etc.

I just fixed using Simple Sound Profile Manager application in playstore
I am also worried due to loud notification and alarm sounds etc...
I tried to change ringtones etc... but finally, I used a Sound profile app to reduce volume for every parameter like notification, alarm, voice call, ringtone and etc...
Now, all sounds in my control without disturbance,
I used this exact application "Simple Sound Profile Manager", try that for if you have some issues like that. :good:

There was problem on my mi a2 handset.
There is no ringing sound but volume sound hight and I got notification sound but no sound when I got a call

Pl check 'do not disturb' condition. It should be in 'OFF' condition..This may solve the issue.

Facing same issue on 4/64 GB variant on build V11.0.14.0

hello, same problem here and tried all solutions but nothing works.
Online some apps do not have sound, as alarm and some messengers, but spotify, youtube and soundcloud can play correctly.
IS the only solution to total factory reset the phone ?
Thank you so much for your help !

This is also what I was looking for in terms of mobile klingeltöne samsung. Aren't they interesting and engaging?

JBAssistant 0.1 (yet another assistant tool...:)

Hi, i would like to share a little app i made. I use my QTEK for work. I like having ringtones but i was tired to have to switch off volume every time i start a meeting. I also want to be able to reply missed calls with SMS only to some people. And i also want to made my own app :
Features:
- App detect if are "busy" or "free" based on the appointments schedule.
- App can silent or set to vibrate the phone when start a meeting and restore sound when meeting ends.
- App can reply missed calls (on "busy" mode) with custom SMS and it has nice options to configure who will receibe the SMS....
Known Bugs:
1- App will start on every reboot (that´s ok), and show the main screen (just put it on background).
2- App will change ringer mode (silence, vibrate, ringtone on) but will not update default upper right volume icon.
Hope someone find this app usefull too.....Any comments will be appreciate...
I only tested it on WM6. I think it should works fine on WM5, can any one try it there?
You will need NETCF 2 before installing my app (check it, may be you already have it):
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...6b-356b-4a2c-857c-e62f50ae9a55&DisplayLang=es
English: http://rapidshare.com/files/25370543/JBAssistant_0.5_-_EN.CAB
Español: http://rapidshare.com/files/25370561/JBAssistant_0.5_-_ES.CAB
Version 0.5:
- App will now apply settings also to sms and voicemail.
- App saves settings when enters busy mode, and restore them when going to free mode.
If u have for example this setup:
PDA Settings:
- Phone Ring
- Text Message Vibrate
JBAssistant Settings:
- Silence Phone checked
Behaviour will be:
On Busy Mode:
- Incoming Phone calls and Text Messages will not ring or vibrate.
On Free Mode:
- Incoming calls will ring and text messages will vibrate.
- On free mode, "ringer:" will be "PDA Settings" to better comunicate current setttings for text, phone and voicemail.
- When exit the application on "busy mode" phone, voice and text sound settings will be restore to PDA settings saved before entering "busy mode".
- Note: Application saves your current settings before entering busy mode and restore them when entering free mode. Because of that, you can freely change settings when application is in free mode, but if you do it when application is on busy mode, settings will be reverted to the original values (those before entering busy mode) when entering free mode. World can't be perfect and you are busy, don't loose time playing with phone settings ....
Version 0.4:
- fixed a bug introduced in verison 0.3 when restoring sound after a meeting ends.
Version 0.3:
- Added option to ignore meetings with "free" status
- Icon on trybar when app is running.
- New (and nicer) application icon.

Sounds good, any chance your going to make it so that when your device boots up the default screen doesn't appear? I know it's not a big deal, but it annoys the hell out of me.
Anyways thanks!

yes!! next release (maybe tomorrow) will fix that and i also will add an option to not to detect as busy when you create a meeting with "status Free"....
if u have any suggestion for new features just post it pls...
thanks!
Will do since I'm really interested in this, but at the moment my brain is so tired I'm surprised I actually know how to spell
Version 0.3
Updated first post with version 0.3. Sorry i can't (yet) found the way to hide the main screen at startup (yes..i also think it was an easy task ..not on CF2

[APP|ROOT] Snotify - [R] - 2012-04-22 - [U] 2012-07-04 - Silences Notification Sounds

Snotify is an application that let you set up a schedule for when Notification sounds should be disabled. You can set multiple schedules for email, texts, toast notifications, master volume and vibrate. For each schedule you can set which days of the week it should apply to (much like the built-in alarm app).

You'll also need WP7 Root Tools from http://www.wp7roottools.com/ . I've tested the app on a HTC HD2 with WP7 Root Tools 0.9.
This application relies on a background task to toggle the setting. Unless the "Resource Intensive Task" is allowed to run it may take up to 30 minutes for the application to react. If you do not connect your phone to an external power source you'll have to take this into consideration.
Thanks to Heathcliff74 for making this possible (WP7 Root Tools SDK)!
Cool app
Cool app really like it.Is it possible that you could just add in a full mute? Basiclly I want it to just mute everything during 8:00 to 5:30. Also I hope you add in a feature to allow days such as only running it on monday-friday.
And I have 1 question, what do you mean by this"Resource Intensive Task is allowed to run" is this a registry edit I have to make or something?
Rly neat!
But how about disable vibrate too?
And the ability to create "profiles", in wich you can choose what to mute/disable during given time and days?
That would be really awesome, as you could get a full night of sleep everyday and avoid the humiliation of everyone in class hearing your ridiculous ringtone during workdays

A full mute would be possible, so I'll consider it. A more advanced schedule is possible as well, I just have to decide the way to implement it and find time to do so.
Windows Phone Apps can run either as Periodic or Resource Intensive Tasks/Agents. A Periodic agent runs once every thirty minute, unless the OS decides to delay the execution (most commonly caused by a low battery level). Resource Intensive Tasks can only run when the phone is connected to an external power source, is almost fully charged and got access to an internet connection other than the radio (WiFi or USB to computer). The app uses both but the OS decides whether any of them actually runs.

The notification is disabled, so it applies to the vibration as well. I realize I haven't made this entirely clear.
Thanks for the ideas .

K cool well thanks. I like the app but It doesnt really help me yet since it doesnt do a full mute. I will be waiting for a full mute. Also you should get your app onto Bazzar.
Suggest you to implement live tile which will allow anybody to turn off any of the notification instantly.
I would have loved control on the volume but turning of is what most of the people do.
Thanks for the App, Works on my Samsung Focus 8107.
if you can add call ring support
thanks ... testing
require setting the ringer volume
Thanks for all the suggestions. The next version will include two new settings, "Master Volume" and "Vibrate". Hopefully I'll be able to release it on Sunday.
Master Volume = Turn off the volume for all types of sounds and notifications, including ringtone. The phone will still vibrate for calls and notifications.
Vibrate = Turns off vibrations for ring and all notifications. Sounds will still be played.
Using Master Volume + Vibrate together will completely silence the phone.
Adding Secondary Tile support will only save one click and take a few hours to implement, so I'm not going to include it in this release.

in the future you can add flight mode control
and can you pls add option for twice a day?
Will this work on a lumia 900? I just came from android and I was hoping I can find an app for this same exact type of feature. Hopefully It works. Thanks dev.
Version 1.1 is now available with support to disable all sounds and/or vibrations.
duhhh: Sorry, flight mode is a bit out of the scope for this application. This would not work for most people anyway, since disabling flight mode requires you to re-enter your SIM PIN code.
idelgado782: The application should not be phone specific, but it requires that you unlock your phone and that it properly supports WP7 Root Tools. Unfortunatelly I don't think this is available for Lumia 900 yet.
Yea I started reading and that's what I figured so far. I have to keep an eye for the unlock so then I can use this app!!! Thanks for your reply.

Really Like version 1.1 but still waiting/hoping for a day by day mute schedule.
Also is it possible you could add a feature or something that does the following.
I need it to mute everything at 8:05 but right now it is 7:40. so when it checks again 30mins later it will be 8:10 and will be too late. So could it calculate or figure that out and mute its self at 7:40 because it would otherwise mute too late.

I'm planning to add a schedule like the built in alarm app, but it didn't make it to 1.1. Your other idea is great as well, so i'll put it on the todo-list .

K cool well as soon as you add the schedule feature I will be using this app daily.
Thanks for the APP, can you add "airplane mode" control to it? It maybe very useful.
Would be nice if we have daily options like "disable only on Monday at 8AM-4PM"
You know...School is school

Emergency Alerts

So they are introducing mandatory emergency alerts here in Canada...testing started this week and didn't go so well, but then today I suddenly received a real alert. It's obviously very loud (which is expected), but I was surprised it made a sound at all because my phone was on vibrate at the time. I was in the office when it happened, and the alarm actually caused a bit of a fuss as people thought it was a fire alarm at first.
I understand the importance of these alerts, but does this mean from now on a loud alarm may sound day or night, with no control over it whatsoever? Today's alert involved a case in a town 16 hours away...it makes no sense.
I know we can't opt out of these alerts, but is there really no way to only show notifications or make these alerts vibrate instead? The options for these alerts in my messaging app are greyed out. Is this something we can change with root? Worst case, I figured it would be fine on Do Not Disturb, but since it makes a sound with vibration I'm no longer so sure that Do Not Disturb mode would actually have any effect...
I have an N950FD with Bell Mobility Canada, unrooted on latest stock Oreo firmware with XSG/XSG/XSG CSC.

You can try systen ui tunner, it gives you some more control over notifications, on a per app basis, although it is little tricky with samsung devices, inside the app is a brief explanation about it
I'm not sure how to change it with root or if it is even possible. I do know that the settings change based on CSC so if you ever get around to changing your CSC that might do the trick for you.
With T-Mobile USA CSC none of my Emergency Alerts settings are greyed out. I can choose which alerts to get & if I want to mute them. Since I can mute them (yeah that sound alert is very annoying & overkill in my opinion) I just leave all my alerts on. The only alert I can't disable is Presidential alerts which I have never received one anyway. I forget how the settings looked when I was stock XEU though.
I to received this bs alert ( Canada ) and and looking for a work around. Hopefully someone can identify the procedure to completely remove this pile of crap. It doesn't even work correctly ffs. Just pisses me off

At least I'm not the only one who was annoyed . What Note 8 model do you have? Did it make a sound (and if so, were you on vibrate or silent)?

Thanks, I'll take a look! The more options the better. I don't mind the notification so much...I just have to make sure that siren doesn't suddenly start blaring again

I think you're right and it's once again related to CSC. Lol, first the missing Gif keyboard, and now this
I searched a little and found a few articles from today... One said the alert should be silent if the phone is on vibrate, and the other article (below) said we should be able to edit the same messaging settings that are greyed out for me.
https://mobilesyrup.com/2018/05/14/ontario-just-received-first-emergency-text-alert/
Maybe they do not use this type of alert system in UAE (XSG CSC), and so they disable the toggles (and the default 'make a sound' doesn't matter). Just a thought, but that would explain why I have an unmutable siren here...and why no one else in my office does, lol. Thanks again

I have a Huawei p10 I can disable individual alerts, but cant disable emergency alerts complete service. I got the original test alert it was loud and annoying. I unchecked everything but still got an amber alert cancellation notification only for an area no where near me with no audio. I did not receive the initial amber alert. These are my available settings.
Quick update: I decided to flash the latest Oreo firmware (Puerto Rico) from SamFirm. I used CP, AP, BL, and CSC with the latest Odin version. Everything went well and my CSC changed (gif keyboard working!), but the messages settings for emergency alerts remained the same... I then tried flashing XEF, but ended right back at my original XSG/XSG/XSG (due it being a to multi-csc which includes XSG, I assume). Back to square one for now, but when I have more time I'll try a few other firmwares/csc until I find one that works...or just end up rooting it...
I have the T-mo note 8 and can not find these settings, exactly how did you get to them?

All about notifications

I recently switched to S20FE from LG V30. I loved the way V30's notifications worked. I'm trying to replicate the same behavior with S20FE, but Samsung's options are all over the place and a bit overwhelming.
With V30 when my screen was on, notifications worked as normally.. a popup at the top of the screen.
When the screen was off, whenever I'd get notification it would pop up as a single line at the top of the screen. This was really useful when my phone is laying on the desk, I can just glance over and see what it is.
So I'm trying to replicate this behavior with S20FE.
I have "Always On Display" turned on and set to "Tap to show".
I have Notifications "Show on Always On Display" turned on.
I have "Edge lighting" turned on and set to "While screen is off". (This seems to be the notification style like on V30 when the screen is off.)
I think that's all the notification options I could think of.
So, when the screen is ok, notifications work (mostly*) the same.
But when the screen is off, I don't get "Edge lighting" thing happening.
The only way I can get it to work is if I set "Edge lighting" to "Always", but then it replaces regular notifications when the screen is on too.
What am I doing wrong? Am I missing some other option? Or is this how S20FE works and there's nothing I can do about it?
(*mostly because when I get certain kinds of Discord notifications, with V30 I'd see a couple of lines in the popup and if I were to expand the popup, it would show me action buttons like "open in maps", "open in browser". On S20FE those action buttons are visible before I even expand the notification, making it needlessly large. Is there a way to change this too?)
Nobody uses these notifications?
Have you added which app can use edge notification? My girl uses it and has no complaints about it.

Ugh. I'm kinda not too enthusiastic in creating yet another account to post on yet another forum. :/
What settings does she have for always on display and edge notifications?
On chatbox is live person. I'll check her settings and reply you later day.
edit
Her settings.

I've also got this exact issue. Randomly like 2xs a day it may work but 98% of the time the edge lighting does nothing. Even if select it to just light up the top middle and not the edge. I've also installed edge+ from the galaxy store which is something that seemed to be very useful yet doesn't work. I've gone as far as making sure my battery optimization wasn't doing anything to the app. Also going into app permission allowing it to draw over other apps and allowing for notifications without any luck. Really annoying. Only thing I haven't tried is using it without the AOD option. Do you use AOD?

ultimately I decided to turn off AOD since it kinda have no purpose. Showing time and battery is not critical. I can just tap the screen once to see that.
I'm not sure if it's related but I seem to now get these "brief notifications"(official android term for them) only from Telegram. However, Discord, Google Hangouts and irccloud still don't trigger them.
But another annoyance is that now irccloud notifications trigger as those bubble notifications, even though I have "smart pop up view"setting disabled.
This is so confusing and frustrating.
I just went through all of this last night. Ended up turning off Edge Lighting, Turned off AOD. Installed Glimpse Notifications. Went through it's several setup steps, but now any time I get any notifications, my screen lights up and I see what I was sent.

What does it look like? Screenshots on google play and their website show only settings, not what actual notifications look like.

It just shows the normal Android notifications. Literally all this does is light up the screen when a notification comes in. My problem was that I'd get a notification and hear the sound, but I'd have to pick up my phone and press the power button to see what it said. With the setup, the screen lights up when I get a notification and I see the normal notification that I would have seen if I just hit my power button.
Same issue here, seems like a simple feature yet it is not working properly.
On all my other phones, my screen would wake up with any notification (paired with notification sound). With S20 FE, my screen stays black after receiving a notification (notification sounds).
Do others have this problem?

Are your other phones samsung too? Are the settings identical? This s20fe is a complete overload with settings all over the place

First time with Samsung, previously Google and OnePlus

Question Volume suddenly dropping to very low levels, volume buttons showing only mic adjustment

Hi guys, I have a redmi note 10 pro that is currently running on miui 12.5.8. Since past 2 weeks there is this weird issue where the volume of incoming calls, media reduces to 10% or less suddenly. Even volume buttons become non responsive to volume adjustments. On pressing them, they only show microphone levels, there is no panel for adjusting Media/notifications/alarms. Everytime I have to restart to get volume back to normal levels..happening 10 times a day..ANyone faced this same issue?
Does this happen while you plug-in headset or all the time?

all the time..with or without earphones
Seems some kind of hardware issue. I've faced this with damaged headphones only. Try resetting. If issue persists then claim warranty
This is what happens when I press volume buttons after the sudden volume drop: the weird "Mic adjusting panel" instead of the regular notification or media volume panel

Known issues with MIUI 12.5.8.0:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/qnxmez
https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/redmi-note-10-pro-freezes-on-volume-slider.63217/ (on this one they suggests a solution EDIT: this one seems about an old issue, when the volume's buttons on 12.5.8.0 caused system freeze.)
So latest systemUI plugin from apkmirror might fix this according to EU forum post
Had same issue with receiver of my calls saying i was very soft and kept cutting in and out also experiencing loud static on receivers end every 30-40 secs happens on volte/4g/wifi
I've requested refund

tried this didnt work
Here is what all I have tried:
Disable Dolby atmos
close bluetooth/ remove earphones
removed microphone permissions from all apps as far as possible
removed the systemUI plugin
reinstalled the systemUI plugin
removed running apps from memory
ran anti virus scans
none of these steps have worked..ALways the same story: reboot device -> behave perfectly fine -> after some 1-2 hours volume reduces drastically on its own ->try the volume buttons, but they show only the microphone slider -> restart the device again.
In the meantime you could report such issue to Xiaomi, (also by point them this discussion) by using the "Feedback" app, to make them aware of a needed fix
Some users reported that they only experience this after each Messenger call, and that this could be fixed by simply force stopping the Messenger app, or clearing the RAM entirely.
