Hi guys,
I was wondering if someone had that 2-way call recording to work on our phone ? And then I mean the hack which takes away the requirement to have your speakerphone activated ?
Thanks in advance

So much interested also. Looking very forward for it with no luck atm
No luck? Anyone has information on what kernel to use for total recall?
As question have been asked many times on the net, Android market and so on, you have only two solutions: either no dev is interested in this, either it's impossible.
I vote for second...
If I understand you right, you would like to record a phone call (having both voices recorded without running the external speaker)?
You can use "Sanity" from market. I use it myself very often. It works fine and the recorded quality is very good. The only thing: you need to have the donated version to really be able to use it, the free version only records a couple of seconds.
Cheers
Greetings!
This is my first post in this forums. They've been very useful to flash, check updates, etc and I've never had the necessity of posting anything since I've cleared mostly any doubt I've ever had about my Android devices. This time, after searching all over the forums and in several other sites over the net I haven't been able to find any solution to my problem. Let me expose it:
Few months ago after having flashed my device to different ROM's, my friends started to tell me that they couldn't hear me well during phonecalls. The sound was not clear enough. They could hear, the volume was ok, but the phonecall the sound call they would recieve was not well.
I thought that this would be related to the hardware, maybe the mic was broken, because once I was thrown into a swimmingpool and I saved my phone by putting it into a jar with rice and letting it rest for few days. However, I have used other programs such as Skype and done the test phonecall so I could hear myself and it went verywell compared to call recorder app tests or regular call, the sound was much better. So I guess that the microphone is still okay and the problem is related to a setting issue that haven't been changed with flashing to different ROMS.
I've been running several ROMS, most of them based in CM7 and I'm now back to the latest stock ROM for America (2.3.5) and the problem is the same.
Any advice will be very apprecciated!

Thanks for the answer.
Actually, nothing of the posted above has worked out. If its a software problems how changing hardware would work?
if its still there is a problem after flashing stock one...than its probably your mic need replacement..!

I just cant figure how the mic works well with skype and not with phonecall and how changing de mic would fix it
During calls other people hears my voice very low (i have to speak directly in the mic hole to make it clear), I exclude that it is a problem because of the microphone bulk, with the voice recorder it is perfect also speaking softly (it always use the microphone below). I exclude that it is problem of noise cancellation (s5 mini does not have this option) and in any case I tried to tap the microphone over near infrared and nothing changes. I exclude that it is a problem with the SIM card as if I use the speakerphone or headphones works perfect. G800F with stock kitkat. (no root, likes to keep warranty)
The phone is very new, already tried factory reset.
Any advice? Sorry for my bad english. thanks.

hello, thanks for the reply, I have not solved the problem yet. I tried some dialers on google play, but once you select the number to call, it shows the original phone dialer, so the problem remains, is there any way to change even that last dialer, perhaps without root? thank you

I understand ... actually i got the phone just a couple of days ago so i didn't make many calls. So i am not 100% sure that i have this problem too.
I know however that on water-proof phones the mics are somehow "protected" so they have worst audio mic performances that non-waterproof smartphone. I have also read online that some s5mini users solved their mic/audio problems by unistalling/freezing/disabling tha google "talk back" application. Maybe you can give it a try and see if it works.

That's for sure, my friend
For now i browsed the internet a bit and i found out 2 types of problems with the samsung galaxy s5's and s5 min's microphones. The first one is the low audio volume (the one you have) and the other one is the echo problem, i.e. the people you are calling do hear the echo of their own voices.
For now i just noticed that i have a kind of problem when using the phone call recording app i always used without problems ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nll.acr&hl=it ). When i play the audio file of a phone call, my side of the call is difficult to hear. I know for sure this happens when i hear the recorder audio file. But i don't know if this happens also in real time with the phone call. Could you please give the ACR app a try? And see how is the recorded phone call? Can you hear your voice in the recorder audio file?

Ok, i got it. I am new to android 4.4 (my previous smartphone had just 4.0) so i didn't know you caould also deactivate it. I used to freeze app with Titanium Backup on my old smartphone. I guess that deactivating it lead to the same result as freezing it with TB or unistalling it with TB.
Since you just deactivated it i can suppose you are also running full stcok android 4.4 unrooted?

So you are getting the same result as me. Did you try recording a phone call with the backcover of the phone removed? If so, how is your voice in the recorderd audio file? Does it get any better?
Hello,
I have a mini s5, I noticed that whoever calls me hear an annoying echo of his voice, I did already several SIM change evidence, the only way to eliminate echo is remove the back cover.
Should I apply for assistance, or is there a way to disable the upper microphone near the speaker?

I did this try myself and ... the result was no better. My voice is always very low ....
I also did another try with the earphone plugged into the 3,5 jack and ... the result was great! In the recorder audio file of the phone call i can totally hear my voice, loud and clear!! And i did this with two phone call recording apps:
ACR: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nll.acr
AutoCallRecorder: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.romang.callrecorder&feature=order_history
I will go on and try other phone call recording app, but i don't think this will get any better. I think this is really a problem with the 2 build.in microphones. Now it's hard to say if it is an hardware issue or a software/firmware issue. I am runnung 4.4 .... if someone running full stock lollipop could please give it a try and let us know. Maybe witha new OS release the mics behaves differently ...
Relased yesterday ufficial 5.1.1 lollipop for italian G800F ! installed today and the volume of the microphone is improved, now I would say that it is acceptable...although with other phone it's still better.
I think you should try to update too mr. "Night on the web"

Ciao, italiano anche tu?
Well, i updated my s5 mini 2 days ago (cause i have a slovakia phone, and the update came out last week) and i too have noticed some improvements. I though that it was just a placebo effect, but now that i hear the same impression from another user too, i think that something has changed. Maybe samsung re-wrote the drivers for the new android version and they came out to be better? Who knows ...
I also tried to record a couple of phone calls with the previous mentioned app ACR and the volume of my voice is pretty equal to that of the people i am talking too. Before, when i was on kitkat, the volume level of my voice was really really looooow. Now i can get really good audio files.
I am not sure if the firmware upgrade also solved the "echo" issue (which is totally different from the issue i had). Can someone give it a try?

Well, in ACR i have set the same settings i had in my previous smartphone:
1) settings --> general --> the second option (which is notification; display a notification if ACR is turned on) deactivated. [but you can try to turn it on if it gets better]
2) setting --> recording --> audiosource --> MIC (usually, after installation, the default setting is automatic)
3) setting --> recording --> percorso audio --> automatic
4) setting --> recording --> formato di regsitrazione --> 3GP
When i was running kitkat i noticed that changing the setting number 2 did have some effects on the volume of the voices in the regsitration. If my settings don't solve your problem, you can try and change only that one. I remember that the "voice uplink" was a good audiosource to get better results. Give it a try.
PS. I have also de-activated the "supress noise" function in the pre-installed samsung voice recording app. This shouldn't intefere with the in-call recording but ... it might.

That is good news! :good:
I have tried to access a setting menu for mic volume gain but i had no luck.
I tried several key-combination (from the dialer) but some were uneffective on this specific device and others didn't led to mic volume gain.
Actually i am starting to think that, without root, it is not possible to access such feature.
By the way, while i was on kitkat, i noticed that with another voice recording app, i was getting better results. It is this app:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441643
Since i was getting better results on kitakat, maybe you can get also better results on lollipop. You can try the two trial apks posted in the first post of the thread. With this app, i used audio "source-->audio uplink" and i was getting better results than with ACR.
This mod will boost your microphone volume! It works with all Galaxy S5 variants. Tested on Nougat, Oreo and Pie (LOS 14/15/16/17).. It might work with every ROM.
It will survive ROM updates as long as you don't format /system.
You'll need root access on your phone and a custom Recovery like CWM or TWRP to install this mod. It is installed like a ROM: put the ZIP on your internal or external(SD) memory, reboot to Recovery console and choose "INSTALL", find the ZIP and proceed to its installation. Then reboot, done.
Technically: It will replace your mixer_paths.xml and media_profiles.xml files to raise MICrophone volume on many types of calls (normal voice call, video call, audio call, speakerphone) and sanitizes the bitrate of video and audio recordings for a better quality video. It also enables stereo audio even with low resolution video.
"Normal" version should be nice for everyone. The "higher" version will make your mic ultra-sensitive, you may sound SCREAMING at everyone!
Install "tuned kernel" if you care about performance and your battery life...
- The "26-906k" file is for a S5 specific MODEL(906k)
- These files won't work with G901F

It blocks d-h.st globally. I'm gonna have to email SonicWall about them. Not even logging in as admin is getting me around it. I'm not lifting the A/V for the 2 seconds it takes me to get the file. We've been hit with a couple variants of cryptolocker already.
EDIT: Flashing this does not work. So, the files in the other thread don't work and this one doesn't either.
I added myself as an exception. I assigned myself a static IP, as it makes it easier to access my laptop when I'm out and about the work campus.

Wait.. You will only find any difference if you try to listen to something you recorded (like listening a voice message you sent over WhatsApp), or if you call another phone.. It should raise your mobile's microphone sensitivity a bit for both recording and voice calls, both with headset/earphones and without it.
What are you trying to do? tell me specifically and I'll look into it..
It's not recording anything. In fact, I can no longer use my phone in headset mode. It has to be speakerphone or with a headset. Bluetooth mic usage is fine, only for calls. Otherwise, nothing is working for Whatsapp, OK, Google, etc.

Hardware problem, dude.. no mod or rom will fix this, I think.
If the mic isn't totally broken (ie. if when you SCREAM, the other party can hear you, but LOW), I could edit the mod to make the mic EXTREMELY sensible.. it would be a workaround.....

Not a hardware problem. It works fine with older builds of CM13 (I'm talking like XX072016 and older) and the stock firmware.
Fantastic
I just want to say, you are a saint for making this patch. I've tried a few custom roms and none have addressed the low mic volume issue with S5's. Anyway, thanks again!
Just used my phone is handset mode. I actually noticed a pattern. When disconnecting from either cars' bluetooth modules, I lose the ability to use the handset. This is usually resolved with one or multiple reboots.

Especially high sounds like Hi-Hats were pure distortion.
Didnt looked into your zip, but you seem to do something different. Distortion is over. Thanx for that!

Works for the latest, Resurrection Remix N 5.8.0 ?? When I send voice messages by whatsapp it is heard very low in my voice and also in the calls my voice is very low, this fixes this problem?
Hello,
I recently acquired a Mi 8 and after years and years of always rooting, flashing etc... since Android 1.6 i decided to take a break and just let myself go with the flow.
This is acutally pretty hard to stand to this, when i first powered on the device (Saturday 10th November), it was on MIUI 9 and i could say it was working well, especially the bluetooth AND type-C to Jack audio. i was able to get the full volume of my head/earphone.
but now that i updated to MIUI 10 the afternoon right after my tests. Bluetooth AND type-C to Jack audio is extremly low, maybe a bit higher with jack but environmental sounds are still way more above the sound i can hear from my head/earphone.
i tested the bluetooth "pro" earphone given in the box, a bluedio T6 (bluetooth & wired) and a Sony MDR-XB950 (Wired). At maximum Volume, all i can hear is about 5% (give or take) of the real audio output i can get from them on another devices.
i Tried to activate the developper option called "Deactivate Absolute Volume" nothing changed, i tried to change the AVRCP Bluetooth version nothing changed. for the next option, no matter what i do, they don't save and revert back themselves to default:
- Bluetooth Audio Codec
- Audio Sample Rate
- Channel Bluetooth mode
- Bluetooth Audio bits
if anyone would have a solution for that it would be great, i'm really thinking of getting rid of the phone just because of that as i use it almost 5 to 11 hours a day to listen to audio.
Second is less complicated, why do i have MIUI 10.0.3.0 Stable when the latest Global Stable is 10.0.2.0 ? and isn't MIUI 10 supposed to bring Android Pie ?
last but not least, I can't seem to install GPay and it would save me lots of time, do really need to switch to a custom rom such as the one provided by Xiaomi.eu ? if so do i need to go throught the whole process of installing a custom rom and always having to try and avoid bugs and random FC + reboot every now and then ?
that was the main reason i wanted to go for a new phone and not modify it, i had great times modifying my phones until my LeEco Le Max 2 got me tired of it by having mechanical problems due to software changes.

Any ideas why that Region Change provoked it? I'm kind of interested for the answer.

You're welcome. European Union has a policy in order to prevent ear damaging. It's very annoying I think.
Yeah I knew about that but I never encountered a limit THAT low. I guess they tried too hard on respecting that instead of getting all 4G band working or letting us use Google pay
[Edit] choosing U.S deactivated face unlock, NANI?!
@moneshaq u will have to goes back to roots .... is the right thing ....as for Bluetooth and hpj viper4android theres an magick module for that ...google pay ...same magisk can safety pass and cts aswell certified the device ...also there's an module to play dual speaker.....the phone worth the money ....

Try a different region.
After trying almost every region (i left out a lot of third-world country, no offense) U.S is the best compromise, i get normal Volume on my sony Wired headset and my Xiaomi bluetooth earpiece but almost no sound on my Bluedio T6.
GPay not available no matter what is the region i choose and Face unlock is deactivated, i also noticed that changing multiple times of region unlocks some apps that are built-in the phone but not available in every region such as Theme manager.
i've sent an unlock bootloader request, if i don't get access to Pie update until the end of the "probation" waiting time or if that update doesn't bring up some solution, even worse adds new bugs, i'll just switch to MIUI Xiaomi.eu rom, i really like MIUI and i wanna stick with it for now, and Xiaomi.eu seems to be the best option for stable rom
