apps with problem to access external mem - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Though the problem was deteCted on a Note4 with Android7, I undertand that mem is mounted on same path in most Samsung and especially On Note devices.
/storage/0000-0000 (external)
/storage/emulated/0/ (internal)
In brief I have an app called minilyrics, it has a function to download lyrics on the same folder that mp3 files and it is selected.
From the app, the browser folder function display path yo close mp3 files, but only following are displayed:
/storage/0000-0000 (external)and all my folders
/sdcard/Samsung/Music
But i cannot see:
/storage/emulated/0/ (internal) and folders
Curiously, the app doesnt download the .lrc files on mp3 folder but on:
/sdcard/Download
Alias of
/storage/emulated/0/Download
I dunno if this problem affect to android 7 or just samsung note devices because i used this app properly on android4 devices, including samsung
Any tip about path mapping for note4?

Ask on the Note4 forum, our phone doesn't have external memory.

How to create the ".nomedia" file....

I might be missing something really obvious here, but how are you supposed to create the .nomedia file so that the music player won't see files from system folders? I have a whole bunch of mp3's appearing in my music player because of Real Football 2010. If I try and create the file on Windows 7, it says "You must type a filename". Any help?

Open notepad, rename file ".nomedia" and change the file type from txt to "all files". Try again, report back.
rename it on the phone
Easier way is to create a folder directly inside the one that has the music files (did this on letsgolf it has tons of sounds) just tap create folder and name it .nomedia works for me.
Creating .nomedia folder in windows 7 solution
1. Goto command prompt : Run->cmd
2. Goto your flash drive e.g. F:
3. Goto you desire folder e.g. CD gameloft
4. type "copy con .nomedia" and press enter
5. press F6 and press enter.
This will create the .nomedia file in windows.
Old thread but here is a no Computer needed option:
Download ES File explorer (its free)
Install and open it
Navigate to the folder you want to exclude (remember it propagates down e.g. if you place it in the root of SD then the whole of SD is excluded including all the sub-folders)
Press Menu and select "new"
Select "File"
Call it .nomedia
Rescan your memory Cards
Sorted no PC required
thanks all above

The easiest way. Download and use from market the studio kuma .nomedia manager.

Does creating a .nomedia file in a folder also stops it from scanning lower folders?
Ex.
\Mystuff
\Mystuff\lotsofstuff
\Mystuff\lotsofstuff\pics
Will putting it in \Mystuff stop it from scanning the lower folders?

I have created a ".nomedia" file but the pictures in that folder still shows up in the gallery.. Anyone have similar experience?
Using SE Xperia Arc.
Restart ur phone so that media scanner runs once...
Gallery excluder is another app from the market you can use, even to restart the media scan afterwards to apply the changes.

You can open notepad via Windows->notepad and ctrl+S to save it (with blank content), in the "File name" field, you type ".nomedia" and in the "save as Type" field, you chose "All files (*.*))"
Good luck!:good:
No need to create file or using an application
You don't need to find a way to create that file. Connect your mobile to pc by USB and browse in your sdcard. Enable show hidden or system files from your operating systems file explorer. Find a .nomedia file and copy it to the new location you want. This is more practical. Also if you have a root explorer on your Android, you don't even need a pc.
AW: How to create the ".nomedia" file....
Another way doing this (imo the best):
1. Open terminal emulator and navigate to the folder
2. Type: touch .nomedia
3. Done

all the music files and images are not showing up

I'm confused. Are you saying it didn't see media before and after the file was in the directory? Did you restart?

[Q] Folder for Application Files

hi,
is there some way to make applications use a user defined folder for their (temporary) files?
I'm using cynanogen mod 7 and in my sdcard folder i have a lot folders created by applications i've installed. but since i never need these folders it would be great if they'd be in a subdirectory (like sdcard/appFiles/dropbox)
right now i have directories called gameloft, dropbox, ezPDFReader, tapatalkxda_download, etc.
they clutter my sdcard folder and make it less nice to look at.

files access when created with filemanager

Hi,
i have a problem accessing files from Telekom Mediencenter App. When the Directorys are copied via an filemanager (between the storage of android), the directories are invisible to the app (looks like the ringtone bug). When i copy the files and create it by pc transfer then i see them
Can anyone help me to get the files visible with the resources available on android (without an pc) ?
best regards,
Thomas

[Q] need the location of the following things

So I need the location of some small things
1.default location of the startup and shutdown boot images of my phone
2.default location of the big NOKIA screen pic of my phone
3.places where junk files are stored in my phone memory..... cause the storage cleaner app is not working on lumias
4.default location of storage of downloaded update files
5.registry key which enables the custom startup and shutdown boot pics
6.Appdata folder of phone memory apps where the savegames of games are located
Additionally if anyone with a interop unlock device have the whatsapp beta can he share it
If anyone knows the location of this things plz share it
Most of that is quite easy to find on your own...
1) I'm not sure, but I'd start by looking in the partitions used for booting, or possibly in the Windows folder somewhere.
2) See #1
3) Storage cleaner is open source. You can see all the paths used in the source code.
4) Pretty sure that's actually in Storage Cleaner. If not, look under "DU" (Device Update) folders and similar; the file system isn't that big.
5) Don't know, but there's whole threads devoted to registry edits and there's a search tool...
6) ... really? Make a trivial app that open the IsolatedStorage StorageFolder and then get the folder's full name. Or just find it using file system access; not hard.

Question How to manage the data of dualApp through any folder?

In 3.0, no Dual App folder.
I googled and saw in Android 11, Samsung created a folder named emulated/95 for the dual app ( the primary folder is emulated/0 ). and the "95" folder is a hidden folder and so far I tried a few FileManager Apps, none can even find that folder.
