Want to buy the 3T, have some questions before I do.

Hey guys, i am thinking about buying the OnePlus 3T from amazon.in and have some questions that i'm hoping i can get answered (I asked these in OnePlus 3T India thread but didn't get any reply as making new thread).
1) Most important question - Are the accidental damage protection offers any good ? The ones on the Amazon site r from third parties and neither one has gr8 reviews, but this one seems to be the better one - http://www.amazon.in/dp/B01N4DH82G/ref=psd_bb_lm_B01FM8M0XE_B01N4DH82G . Still i dont know if its any good or not. What do they cover and do they try to scam their customers when they actually have to provide service/replacement ?
2) What is the situation with the phone sale on Amazon.in, this morning it showed Gunmetal was out of stock, then later it was showing its in stock (It went out of stock again later), i thought they were only selling the phone through flash sales. I'm worried they might send the wrong colour or something.
2)I'm thinking of buying the 64gb version, how much usable space does it have?
3)R both the Sim slots 4g ? Many phones only come with one 4g sim slot, other only being 3g compatible.
4)Generally every new phone released has some or the other small or big hardware flaws, and these get fixed silently in newer batches that r produced, Does the 3T have any i should know about ?
5) Whats the situation with Nougat update? I read that it got an OTA update but it has a lot of problems, what r these problems ?
6)Whats the situation with unlocking bootloader, rooting and and installing custom ROMs, i read that its kind of a complicated situation and a mess, didnt read in detail ? I've rooted every single phone/tablet i've owned in the past half decade, was thinking to use the stock software that comes with the OnePlus 3T as its supposed to be really clean and vanilla and comes with most customizations u get in a custom ROM anyway. But still I wanna know I can do that without much problem if I wanted to.

6) It is fine, not as easy as on Nexus phones because OP is not releasing factory images but it is fine.

Not a hardware issue per se, but the images taken are very noisy when compared to the oneplus 3... Check some camera samples in gsm arena before you buy.

Ya. Definitely camera blows, and I'm coming from a 7+ and take a lot of photos. With that said I've learned to take better photos, not just point and shoot. Although it's a pain in the rear, I think the battery life and software updates we get are worth it, at least for now. I'm hoping they can fix the camera with software, we will see...

Huh... Weird, cause literally every review I have read of the phone says that the phone has a gr8 camera for the price, not as sophisticated as Pixel, S7 and iPhone 7 but still pretty darn good. In any case, I don't use camera much, I think it'll be fine.
Also, I ordered it already last night, I just got a dispatch mail 2 mins ago!

You might be surprised, it's extremely noisy in anything but great lighting conditions and the aperture is super slow. Any movement in a photo causes blur. And I've tried all 3rd party cameras apps with manual settings. Not sure if it's a software or hardware issue

Thinking of getting this phone, have a few questions before I do..

1. How often do OP update their phones, do the older model get ignored compared to the new ones ?
2. How easy is it to unlock/flash new roms on this phone, since this will be my primary focus ?
3. How bad is touchscreen latency and camera performance with latest update ?
4. Should I be worried about bad after-sales here in UK ?
Please feel free to mention any other points about this phone that might help me in making my decision.

1. i had an OPO and i guess it not supported anymore, but i installed a custom ROM the first day i got it and custom ROM support is amazing, there is still a big community. Guess there wont be many other devices being better off.
2. couldnt be easier. All u need to do is just follow the instruction given for the ROM. Support in this forum is also given.
3. For me the latency is the same as it feels with my gf's pixel phone. Camera i cant say much cuz the only fotos i do is about documents and writings. But these are super easy to read. I have no idea thogh how beautiful pictures will get.

I came from the D855 (G3) was a huge step i was going to wait for SD835 smartphone but my phone died, so i wanted something super fast, and unlocked, when i mean unlocked is a company that gives you acess to the hardware this is bootloader unlock, as many companys do NOT, the phone is tremendous fast, fingerprinting in 0.2sec it opens before you blink, the screen looks way better than my G3 which was the first 2k screen, its vivid and bright, dash charging is awesome it charge your phone way to fast xD, its the first phone that i dont need to let it in charger over night, 3.4A battery is more than enought, 8h+ of SOT? i had at must 1.5 to 2h of sot on my D855, huge huge difference, for the moment this is by a large margin the best device you can buy, as for the cameras or any other features i dont care, they do the work just fine, i have a mirrorless camera for photography so i dont care about the camera, its still packs a 16MP on front camera which get you a very sharp face if you are a selfie person, anyother i just got this phone by its hardware, super fast and cheap for a flagship? i spent 439 + karbon case this phone worth every penny, so go for it it feels very nice in the hand, and the metal its of nice quality! it even comes with a screen protector by default thats a nice touch from them! oneplus is a great company you wont Regret it!

OnePlus does a decent job but don't expect Nexus-grade updates. You'll mostly be relying on the XDA community.

Very Easy. Unlock bootloader from bootloader menu, flash twrp via fastboot, flash a custom rom and that's it.
3. How bad is touchscreen latency and camera performance with latest update ?
Touchscreen latency was never THAT bad unless you're a pretentious user. You shouldn't worry this because most custom kernels improve it, and at some point it will be fixed completely by OnePlus. Camera is decent, the sensor is the same as the one in V20. It's the processing that sucks compared to other phones, so don't expect much.
4. Should I be worried about bad after-sales here in UK ?
Not sure what you mean. But i'm certain you will be satisfied of the phone for the price paid.

Note: I had the op3 and now i am using the op3t from dec.
1. Updates on the op are fairly quick, as of now we have an open beta for 7.1.1 with march security patch. We will be getting the full update sometime in this month.
2.This is where the op devices shine the most.The op community is great,you will get the community app installed on the device. you can find all required the guides for unlocking,roms and troubleshooting there.The op3t has support for all the popular custom roms so you can get the updates asap.
3.The touch latency issue is still there but it is not that bad.The camera is not bad at all.Its a great camera for the price and takes great pics in good light conditions but the low light photos are not that great.If you are a serious camera buff you might be disappointed.
4.After sales is bad here in India. Its handled by a company called servify. Had the op3 and i broke it in 3 weeks of purchase. I had got their one year "accidental damage protection" thingy so i went to the service center fairly optimistic . After looking at the phone they said "the back of your is damaged and we do not cover cosmetic parts under our insurance, we will fix the screen for free". I was angry but agreed to get it fixed any way. After that they say if you want to go through our insurance you have to open a claim via the op app,we cannot do it here. I returned home did what they said and after two days i got a call from some shady insurance company refusing my claim saying there is something wrong with my paperwork.Even after doing all the things they said they still refused it. But I loved my phone so tried to get it repaired any way. Here op3 costs 28k. After making a claim they told me i have to pay 12k for the screen,10k for the back and 1k for repair . Thats 23k,roughly 83% of what i paid for the phone in the first place.

One thing i am quite worried about is that like most companies the older models of OP have been not getting any updates from OP at all, e.g Android 7.0. Also custom ROM development on older models seems to be very slow and most major Dev have moved on to newer models unlike older Nexus which is still supported after all those years. I know I can get Nougat support via custom ROMs but support for old devices is one of the main things I am looking for, since I am planning to keep my phone for at least 2 years.
I think i am going to hold on to my G3 for a bit longer and see what other options are available later on during this year.

Edit: just look at the first OnePlus model and the 7.1.1 roms and kernels that are available and beeing actively supported, this is a 3 year old phone.
If you`re always looking for the next big thing or latest technology you can never ever buy a phone again. There will always be new devices that will be released throughout the year I ordered mine (coming from a iPhone 7 Plus) because i think and according to the reviews its a solid phone for a descent price.

Is the OnePlus 3T still a great phone one year later?

Hello again! I've been looking at the OnePlus 3T for a while now, but I didn't want to jump the gun yet.
It was a steady $500 CAD here in Canada for a 64GB and I found a 128GB OnePlus 3T that comes with 2 cases,
for $480 CAD, now, the phone has been out for almost exactly one year now and it's only now $120 off, so this
leads me to my questions, should I go ahead and purchase it? Is it still a great choice, one year later?

As long as you don't need the fake bokeh effect that a dual camera setup gives, you won't regret buying this phone.

I've had mine since April and still love it. Even though that new Pixel XL 2 is tempting, I essentially will do the same thing on both phone and can't justify the money when my 3t is still running excellent

Yes it is. I bought mine in December and it is one of the best purchases that I have made.
To elaborate, I have been mostly stock except for magisk root, and never faced any issues with this device. I use it for work and play, and it never disappoints. I would not change this phone except maybe for the iPhone X (but a $1000+ phone? screw that)

I came in late to the OP3/3T game and got mine in June of this year and haven't looked back since. Sure I 'want' a Pixel 2 XL but damn that price... The 3T has been amazing to me. I've got mine unlocked, using FreedomOS CE with Magisk, AdAway, Substratum (Ozone & Swift Dark), Nova Launcher with Prime & Google Companion, Google Pixel Dialer/Contacts, Google Pixel 2 Live Wallpaper and a slew of other minor things here and there. OnePlus gives you serious freedom and the devs are already pushing hard on custom O ROMs. If you're here on XDA you most likely enjoy tinkering and this phone will let you go above and beyond simply because of the great folks in the various forums and communities let alone the ease to do so because of OnePlus keeping it open.
Side note: You can get the fake bokeh effect easily by using Google Camera with a Magisk Module to fix the crash bug. Neat stuff but I just use the included OnePlus Camera myself.

How much more is the 5? I love my 3t and couldn't be happier with it.

You're probably going to get a lot of us fan-boy-ing about it. Do you have any questions about it in particular? As far as I'm concerned, it's the best phone I've ever had & may betray my normal cycle of purchasing phones (every 2-2.5 years) and just hold onto it.
You're super free with the software. People say it's "unbrickable" (though I just had the scariest experience of my entire custom-flashing-life of the last 7ish years, but it was resolved either way). No removable battery & expandable storage sucks dongers but that's the trend regardless. The specs are far beyond what's needed for a telephone if you ask me. The price for what you get in hardware + software freedom is craziness (in a good way).
The ONLY THING is if you really need amazing camera HARDWARE, then you should be looking at Samsung, Apple, or the new Pixels. That being said, there are many camera mods enabling you to use (on custom ROMs) the OnePlus camera, the Pixel camera with HDR+, the Snapdragon camera, and if you aren't already aware, learning how to use Manual mode can do wonders...

I am just looking for a speedier phone than I have right now, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, which I am sure is a definite night and day difference in performance, the OnePlus 3T caught my eye back in February, and the price seemed quite good for such a stunning phone. I do have a few questions, how do you rate the fingerprint sensor? Is it fast or super fast, compared to maybe a iPhone 6S or 7, but that might be stretching it. How does the camera do at night? In a poorly lit room? Thanks for the reply!

Sorry for the late reply! The OnePlus 5 is going for $720 Canadian Dollars for the 64GB, whilst the used OnePlus 3T 128GB is going for $480 Canadian Dollars.

I'm the wrong dude for both of those questions probably. I only messed with fingerprint a littttttle bit on my s5. Compared to that, OP3T is blazing fast.

I am using stock OOS and the fingerprint is blazing fast.
Regarding the night camera, installing the Google modded apk is the way to go. It offers fantastic night shots.

Absolutely! I love it like a child. It's my baby.
I have often said to OnePlus that their customer's service should favorably compare to the phones they produce. Their customers service, in a word, is awful. It is somewhat heartening that it is getting better.
They produce a wonderful product. Their support leaves a little more time, I hope. I have never come across a situation quite like this. The quality of their products far exceeds their support. I think. in time that situation will change. They will improve or fail and that would be a shame.
XDA could learn a lesson from what I said about OnePlus. Their product is truth. Their support also leaves something to be considered.

Portrait mode (with dual camera) is fake bokeh also. Just not as fake. It's true, the Google lens blur often results in "fuzzy" edges on the subject, or obviously fake/cheesy looking Photo-chopped effect.

Yeah, it's as good as we can get with the single-lens and OP / OP3T setup. I don't use it even though it's neat for up-close 'macro' like shots, but the fakeness of it does show through most of the time. I'm saving now to get another DSLR and do love my OP3T for quick on-the-go snaps. It is good for that, the picture quality is leaps above most phones out there, and for it's price point, not really anything to compare to it.

Not literally, no. But "portrait mode" is just an Apple baloney marketing name for "fake bokeh effect". Now every phone manufacturer feels like they need dual camera and "portrait mode" (which I'm sure Apple is suing them for using that name). Even dual camera is just software trickery (in conjunction with dual camera) to fake a bokeh effect that will never be possible with the focal length of a smartphone camera.
Obviously, you won't get the exact same effect as a phone that has dual camera (OP5, iPhone plus, etc.).

Back to the original question: I would say YES it's still a great phone.
I was unimpressed with the OP5, with its mostly incremental improvements, and the "jelly effect". We've actually seen a number of folks on this forum, looking to get a new phone, and opting for the 3T instead of the 5.
Of course there are other, impressive options (Pixel 2, Galaxy S8) with their own pros and cons. But of course they are quite expensive, and don't measure up to the shear value of the 3T; with its combination of build quality, value, and dev community here on XDA.
I don't find myself yearning for the "latest and greatest" phone yet. Maybe next year. The 3T is holding it's own quite well, and still a very solid and capable device.

Is it worth to buy Moto X4 now.

Hey guyz. I've got nexus 5 for 2 years now and im starting to look after a new phone. I love my nexus 5 and honestly i wouldnt change it. The cons of nex 5 are battery and the fact that it's old phone with no more android support(got 7.1.2 and i think it is the last stable one). I bought a new original battery few days ago, but it didn't provide me any battery time boost : ( ( (. I even calibrated it 2 times already. Maybe wrong ROM/Kernel. Never mind nex 5, not the topic .
I have a few questions about moto x4. The price of this phone is affordable for me in my country. It costs about 250 Euro. I am very glad of IP67, usb type C. Cortex a53 2.2ghz, 3gb ram i think its enough. 5.2 LCD with 3000mah battery should be good.
-Will the software be ever as customizable as nexus 5?
-Connected to customize - will I be able to install a dark theme?( I love that and i cant live without it, i cant stand white phone app, sms app, settings app etc). Is substratum working on stock?
-What is android one ? Its is like multi rom between Oreo and One or it's just a name for soft in devices, which will be updated very often?
-Is battery enough for a day? My nex 5 is so bad : (. 40min video drains ~~20% battery - i watch many series on it on my way in bus/tram)
-Is performance good? I don't get this proccessors. It has octa 2.2ghz and i saw that benhmakrs show subjectively low performance(at least comparing to my nex 5 2.3x4)
-Is there - vibrate on answer option in stock rom ?
-Is there double click on Power button to flashlite in stock rom? Or is it accessible by some modifcation
-Is notification diode replaceable somehow ? I heard that there's weak diode for battery notifications - any comments?

No. X4 is wife's DD.
Cons:
I don't like that 13GB of the 32GB internal storage is taken up by system.
The camera is slow to take pics.
Pros:
Nice size if you don't want a big phone.
Better battery life than every phone I've had, with exception of my DD Moto Z2 Play, which is about the same.
I recommend the Z2 Play. I believe it to be the best phone I've had.

Unknown, but probably unlikely. The stock software is pretty much a bone-stock android 8.0, and the Android One version does have an unlock-able bootloader, but the development of ROMs for this device is pretty much just starting. I doubt anyone would run a 7.1.2 ROM for this device, and Oreo just came out a few weeks ago.

You could manually install substratum, but that requires root. Root is available for these devices, but it's also pretty new, so success isn't guaranteed, and if you bork it, you might be on your own.

Android One is a program that Google started a few years ago for Manufacturers to sell their phones with a stock (or as close to stock as possible) version of Android. The X4 is the first North American phone to be certified under the Android One branding. It basically means that you are getting a Google phone. It's Google's way to discontinue the Nexus brand, but still offer stock android experiences on phones that are cheaper than the Pixels. (Do not confuse Android One with Oreo's Treble, which is a new feature in Oreo to allow OEMs to apply security updates easier and quicker. This phone does not seem to have Treble support as of right now).

Battery life is fantastic. Best battery life I've ever had. Most people are reporting an average of 5-7 hours of SOT. I average ~13%/hour Screen on, and about 1%/hour Screen off. I used to charge mine every other day, but now that I got a Fitbit last week, it goes about a day and a half. You could easily watch a 40 minute video on each commute.

What benchmarks were that? Before I got my phone, I saw Antutu benchmarks that put my old 5X and this new X4 on about the same range, and I believe the 5X was significantly faster than the 5. Anyways, this phone is plenty fast, and feels maybe a little faster than my old 5X. The only time I'm really pushing it is when it's processing HDR+ photos, as even most games I play don't stress it. It's very smooth in games, and even gets bettery batterly life when you're under load.

There is a gesture action that you can enable to turn the flashlight on by chopping twice. It works pretty well, but I have it turned off most of the time, as I keep the quick launch icon in my status bar if I need it. It's up to you.

That's way beyond the scope of what I've seen done on this device. I don't think anyone has done any hardware mods to these phones yet. I haven't noticed that the battery warning diode is particularly dim, but I also think that's a weird thing to be nitpicking on a cheap phone such as this. It's mid-ranged phone that is solid, well-built, looks good, feels good, performs great, has exceptional battery life, has a very good camera (once you replace the crap Moto camera software), and I don't have any issues with it. Anyways, hope this helped you in your decision.

With Camera NX (https://forum.xda-developers.com/ne...d-camera-nx-v4-google-camera-zsl-hdr-t3494435) I have had almost zero shutter lag which solves that problem IMO.

What went wrong with Nokia 8?

It's a great phone and most impressive is SD 835 in it but today I found a deal on my local used market for 250$. He'll, I want to buy it but I don't know why it's so cheap. I am getting he'll of a deal here but is it any good?
I read comments on Amazon and many said it's having a heating problem. I want to buy a good phone for gaming as my Moto Z Play couldn't able to handle pubg very well.
One more thing is that the xda community had igoned Nokia 8, it doesn't have a single official custom ROM or recovery. Phone is good but all this things keeping me from not buying it. I want to know is it any good to buy a used one for 250$?

The phone's principal other flaw is that the camera isn't great. Both the stock camera software (post processing, features) and the sensor aren't up to the quality you would expect of a 2017 flagship or even (for the most part) the Galaxy S6 I upgraded from. Until now running modded Google cam has allievated the software side, and there's an update rolling out from Friday that will add camera functionality and hopefully improve the processing and the use of the monochrome sensor. I wouldn't expect miracles though.
Other than those points this is a solid phone. The screen is a nice IPS that does good blacks, accurate colours and is capable of very high brightness. There is no heating problem and in fact this is the coolest phone I've ever used, it's a challenge to make this thing heat up. Software is as close to stock you'll get on a non-Google device. SnapDragon 835 blasts through anything you might want to do. Headphone jack seems to supply a lot of power and music sounds clean and clear. Nokia has been good with updates thus far, releasing OS and security updates better than any non-Google phone afaik.

I also found a great deal for a Nokia 8 6gb ram 128gb internal for 250$. Still thinking if i should give up my Moto Z Play for this Nokia

if quality(which can be improved with a new app) of photos is not your top priority, then you should definitely buy this one.

Nothing went wrong, it was a loss leader to get the Nokia brand up and running and noticed again.
Best phone i have owned apart from the camera in low light but the new camera app may help with that.

It's a great phone for gaming...I play pubg mobile on the maximum settings with extreme FPS settings and it's silky smooth... It does warm up a little but less then any other phone I've had while gaming, the one and only issue I have with this phone is that the power button has a little bit of rattle/play and that drives my OCD crazy.

I couldn't decide too, but i think i need to give up my Moto Z Play for PUBG. And SD835 is future proof too. I don't use camera that much so it's not an issue for me, i think it should be a good deal.

Thanks bro, i wanted to know how PUBG runs on Nokia 8, i am gonna buy it. Only thing thats i'm scared of is Custom ROMs. I like to flash different ROMs. Man, i need to choose between Customization and Gaming.

Wow, even bootloader is not possible to unlock on the phone. I am scared that I'd be bored after some time of using it. But, i think the most important thing for me would be gaming than flashing custom ROMs. I'd be buying it soon.
