Have u flashed custom kernel.

Not happening here. Charging with phone turned off briefly shows Android One logo then the % charge indicator and lastly it turns the screen off. A momentary press of the power button shows the % of charge and turns off again.
Stock ROM & September patch.

This bug is because of Magisk 17.1
I have this bug to, stock rom rooted.

Screen wont turn off when plugged in - CM

Title says it all...
When you plug in the nook color the screen wont turn off in Cyanogen Mod... This isn't good when you are using <2 amp charging (say 500 mA from standard usb) as the screen uses more power then the charge provides... so it actually drains the battery. Any ideas?
When you say it will not turn off, do you still have a display or just the backlight? When I am charging my nook in standby, I have noticed that the backlight will remain on until I tap the power button. That gives me a black screen

I noticed that recently with one of the later nightlies. I can still power off while charging though, can you?
I put it in sleep, I don't turn it off.
Same problem here. I just turn have to remind myself to manually turn it off whenever I plug it in. Probably some kernel bug or something?
Not a huge problem though. =)

Turn the screen off by hitting the power button.
This is not a bug but a workaround for a kernel bug. We fixed a bug that would cause kernel panic if you let the device sleep while plugged into USB. However, it would still eventually kill ADB so for now I start a partial wake lock when connected to USB.
Just wondering when this might be fixed? Having to worry about the screen being left on when plugged in is a problem for me. I normally charge my Nook from a standard usb. If the screen is on it drains the battery.

When what might be fixed? As Dal just said, this IS the fix for the time being. And it isn't a worry. Just plug it in, and hit the power button; your screen will turn off, and you will be good to go.

The fact it sounded like a temp fix "for the time being" is why I asked about timing. Turning the screen off is fine but I have had one case where the screen turned back on during the night and I woke to a nook that was almost dead even though it was plugged in all night. Even an answer like planned for next RC or for the final release of 7.1 would be helpful.
If there is not fix coming it would be nice to know that too.
I appreciate everything that has been done for the nook and enjoy using it as a tablet.
Using the high capacity cable is not an option. I have tried two in my nook and one would not charge it all and the second was very hard to plug and would sometimes charge it. A standard USB cable has always worked fine. I have read about bad high capacity cables taking out more than one nook so I won't even go there anymore.
Have this been solved somehow?
I have recently mounted my Nook Color on the kitchen wall and it is annoying to manually having to push the power button to turn off the screen, instead of having the screen turn off automatically after a specified time.

[Q] p7300 not charging anymore after flashing rom

So I was able flash this Rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2398003 with out any hitches. As soon as the power level goes down to 15% I plugged in the charger while Tab is turned on. It does not indicate that it is charging. So, I turned it off while plugged in. the battery logo comes up and says that it's at 100%.
I turned it back on, now it says it's at 12%, I turned it off and left the charger plugged in for about 5hrs. When I checked the screen the battery logo says it's at 100%. when I turned it on it was at 100% but was depleting the battery fast. I turned it back off, now the battery logo says it's charging. I left it for 30mins. and turned it back on. it's at 8% and cycles from "connect charger" to "charging". Now the tab is dead, it wont turn on. It doesn't even have enough juice for me to restore my back up.
Please, can anyone tell me how I can fix this. I would really appreciate it.

I was using this ROM for a long time and I flashed it over and over without facing any battery problems
so I would say that flashing that ROM caused a battery calibration problem, but sense you can't even charge when your tab is turned off
so I don't think this is the problem
the only thing I can think off is that you should try another charger [I read: cycles from "connect charger" to "charging"]
and yes this might happened, and if you don't have another charger, connect it to your computer for around 5 hours, that would do it
I am currently connecting my tab to the wall, waiting for it to get to 4hrs. I saw this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1861229 and am following it right now I hope this works. If it still does not work, I have another charger for the exact same model I could use.

[Q] 4.3 Low Battery Reboot Cycle

Hey guys, I've got a bit of a problem after the latest 4.3 update. My phone battery went to 7% and then suddenly to 0%, upon which it turned off. Now whenever I try to turn it on the red light flashes and whenever I try to turn it on whilst charging (because I don't think it charges if I just leave it plugged in), it just enters a reboot cycle, whereby it goes to the lock screen, shows the "Shutting Down" window and reboots. I have no clue how to fix this.
I don't really care about the phone at this point, but I do have some photos I want to keep from there...
Any ideas? The software hasn't been pampered with.
same here
hey, feeling with you.
I recently updated my Xperia T to 4.3.
While in 4.1.2 the "low battery" behavior was quite weird, as my T did not charge (no red LED), I was able to get it back to life by pressing and holding the power button for quite some time, lets say 5 min. or so, as it was loading then. This was independent from whether it was exhausted (blinking red LED) or "simply of"(not blinking but not charging anyways).
Through this whole power pressing procedure (I just wrapped the cord around the phone several times) the LED was red and the phone was charging, but it did not turn on. After the 5 min. I freed the T an hit the power button again. Now it was booting as expected and did not immediately go off again.
On 4.3 unfortunately this does not work anymore . The phone just tries to boot and enters the reboot cycle as you described (with the difference that it does shut down instead of reboot).
Now first I would like to know, if your T behaved like mine under 4.1.2 (guessing that was your last Version too). From what I've read I assume that wasn't really normal behavior. I think there must be something wrong with the hw, as my 4.1.2 was neither unlocked nor modified in any other way.
Second I would advise you boot into recovery and select boot into bootloader* (if you have installed one) or connect your T to your PC and boot into flashmode (power+vol.down I guess) as it might charges in there. The recovery worked for me, flashmode should work, but I never tried.
Finally I guess chances are good, that your device works totally normal if it gets charged again (just don't let it run out of energy again )
btw. does the Xperia T normally charge while it's powered off? Anyone has send his phone back on warranty because of charging problems?
good luck to you,
wk
*I am using this 4.3 rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2647459) atm, as I have root there. But the recovery is really buggy right now so it just restarts all the time. I'm not quite sure where the "boot into bootloader" option gets you ( never heard, that you could boot into bootloader on an xperia device) but the LED shines blue and the T charges and that's important right?
Yeah, my T would sometimes do that when the battery completely drained. I'd have to hold the button for a few minutes while the red light was on until it booted and started charging autonomously.
Now that doesn't work. It doesn't charge when it's off and when I connect it to the charger and turn it on, it restarts. Eventually though the battery drains completely and the old trick works again, but even when it manages to boot to the lock screen, it shows 0% battery again and restarts.
I've tried turning it on while holding the power+down button and charging. The green light came on and disappeared but it started rebooting again. Same with connecting it to my PC.
Can you remove the battery?
Same thing happens to mine, and i just remove battery, plug it without battery,it starts, then put the battery back on.
And it charges fine.

So I think you are facing the same issue as mine... the phone has no time to charge. So what I did was flash an OmniRom with only the SystemUI apk and launcher apk. The intention was to make the boot time shorter so that the battery will not go down by the time it boots. But it ended up causing a bootloop: it was constantly stuck in the bootanimation. And it does charge during the bootanimation. So I let it be like that for about 30 minutes, rebooted to recovery and flashed the stock rom. And all my data was safe. This is more like a fluke so try it and maybe it would work.
If you can disassemble it, then yes, you can do the battery thing. There is just one screw under the SIM flap. I didn't do it because my screw driver kit was borrowed.
The battery trick worked! Now it discharges really fast though.
5% in less than 5 minutes...

[Q] is my battery dead? Please help.

Hi, I was using my XZ yesterday flawlessly and then out of no where it just turned off. I did everything I could find on the forums but it just sits there with the red Led permanently on. I left it charge overnight, when I woke up the led was green and the screen said it had a full charge. I turn it on, it gets to the lock screen and then shuts down again. It's sitting there again with the red led on as if the battery was drained completely in 1 min! What can I do about it? THANKS!

Hmm... Try doing this:
Get it charged till you get the led green, KEEP charging, and then turn it on. See if you can use it for 5 mins, 10 mins, even an hour. See if it turns off automatically. If it works fine while plugged, then that shouldn't be the problem of your ROM. Then, unplug the charger, and see if it shuts down soon. If it does, we can make sure it's the problem of your battery.

I'm gonna check that out thank you! .. and I'm pretty sure it's a ROM problem because it was fully charged and yet it shut down never to be woken up again til 5 min ago that I connected it to the PC and it briefly showed me the charging screen (battery completely drained) and then the Red Led came back on and the screen went away as soon as I disconnected it from the PC. I connected it to the wall charger but the screen didn't come on again. Thoughts about this? (also the computer briefly recognized the phone and then it didn't anymore) right now is plugged to the wall charger to see if the battery picks up, so I can proceed with all the flashing stuff.
What causes this type of problems? I really had high hopes with this phone, it's gorgeous to look at (the best design on a phone IMO) but it failed me

My lovely 256gb one also behaves similar. When battery goes under %5-6; if i turn off manually, it doesn't turn on, stands off untill i connect to the charger. If completely consumes the battery, doesn't even turn on by power button. Have to charge it about couple of percentages to be able to turn on.

Exactly when it turns off by itself on low battery then on holding power to turn on red led notification light blinks(i get it that's telling connect a charger) but its not normal behavior right phone just turning off that way, under certain conditions it can be harmful for MB , could brick the device if am not wrong, do you think it has something to do with battery stats? Coz i did trickle charged it already twice calibrating the battery cycle

No man I don't think it would be harmful or cause bricking the device. It doesn't suddenly cut down the power, prepares itself to shutdown first. For example if a music playing when the screen goes black because of low battery, music player keeps playing until it gets ready to complete shutdown. Also when you connect your charger when it goes black; you can hear charger connected notification and vibration which means it's not completely dead.
Besides this normal behavior; this happened me in my second day and i was freaked out lol. I thought this lovely thing just died but although i don't believe reincarnation; it returned me from death

shutting down at 20% battery level
Mi Mix 256gb 6gb Global Rom
I had a nexus 6p before this phone and these problems were common. Early shutdowns typically indicate battery wear and as wear progresses, shutdown comes earlier. My moto 360 shuts down at up to 100% charge level depending on load spikes due to the wear on the battery. May want to use an app like accubattery to get an idea of your battery health.
Typically, replacing the battery solves early shutdown issues.
