It would be very convenient for me since there is no LED. I tried some apps but nothing works, they never detect the front flash

Hi i'm using radium rom marshmallow and i have an issue where i'm unnable to use the camera, everything else is working and I actually tried with different roms is there something i messed up? and if so does anybody know a solution to this issue?
when trying to use the camera it just stays on a black screen and after a couple seconds it closes

Opening whatsapp clicking on take picture and quickly pressing to switch to front facing shows actual image, also on Snapchat login front facing works but rear camera still showing a black screen ?
I'm not sure why but my P9's LED flash is not working. Both for flashlight purposes as well as for the camera. What gives?

Flash led on my recently bought Droid Turbo stopped working.
It was OK for 5 days. At one night I tried to switch on the flash light to use it as a torch. At first it turned on and blinked three times then went off.
Then I tried again to switch on but the right led just blinked once and turned off. Left led do not have any response.
I switched on the camera and take a picture. Led behaviour was same (right led just blinked once for a short time then switch off while left had no response).
Then I changed the 'Flash' settings in camera from Auto to On and again tried to take a shot but the Led behaviour remains the same.
Any help in this regards would be appreciated...
After googling i found a solution that suggested that draining the battery completely and fully charge after that will solve the problem.
However, i tried this method twice but it did not solve the problem.
Moreover, i tried some typical things like uninstalling the updated camera app to factory.
Factory resetting the phone and clearing the cache from recovery.
But none of the tricks solved the problem...
Now Fingers crossed....

I had the same problem. It was strictly mechanical.
I removed back panel and clear from dust and it solves it. I recommend to replace 2 sided tape too. MOTO XT1254

The tape actually MUST be replaced because as you said, the flash is a piece connected to the back casing of the phone. If it's not securely connected the insides of the phone, the points that touch the flash board won't be touching consistently and you'll wind up having to take it apart again. You've got to go the extra mile and buy GOOD 2 sided tape as well.. The cheap stuff turns loose as soon as the temperature gets to high or to low. To many people bring their phones in because their fix stopped working.

I have a doubt, why when I put the front camera and put the flash in automatic, it lights up like a flashlight? I thought I lit when I took the picture. Is there a method to activate it only when I press the button to take a picture?
As far as I can tell, it lights up when it detects there's not enough light. Try it. When it detects light, flash is on. But when it doesn't, for example when you point it towards a lamp, it turns off.
I think that's intended, in many cases the front flash can ruin a photo depending on surrounding lighting. If it's always turned on you can preview what your photo will look like with actual light.
Hello everyone,
a friend dropped his P20 Pro a few days ago and his back cover got damaged. He now tried to change the back cover but since then the cameras (rear + front) as well as the flash (e.g. when trying to use it has flashlight) wont work anymore. What happens is that e.g. when he touches the camera icon, the app will start but closed immediately. It basically is just a short black flash of the app.
Factory Reset didn't help
Cleaning cache/etc of course didn't help either.
He already removed the whole camera unit from the motherboard, but everything seems fine and was connected fine.
Also it is weird because the front camera, rear camera and the flash all seem to have individual connectors/cables? But none of those work suddenly.
And the only cable that he disconnected when changing the back cover was the cable that connects the lenses of the rear camera.
Any ideas? :/
