Sorry guys, but I'm still confused about which FW versions can be BL unlocked and which can't.
I'm not familiar with the Huawei versioning in the naming of the firmwares.
Specifically, it's BLA-L29 8.0.0.150 C432 that I am wondering about. If someone feels like explaining the versioning in a sentence or two (or point me in the right direction), that would be really appreciated.
Thanks!
In one of the other messages treads some posted this link.

I think the version system is different from how you listed. Some people talk about the 8.0.0.xxx With xxx being some thing 142 or 145 but the guides mostly use C432 and c636 for example. This C number you can see on the about software page in you phone as well as the xxx. It usually appears after the version like, 8.0.0.xxx(Cyyy).
The part I'm struggling with is that I have a two sim phone, BLA-L29 and most people her are loading BLA-L09 (single sim version) of software. i don't know if its compatible. I think they are as I've never seen an issue with any other phone in the past. People use to use the dual sim add on's and you never had to update the software to recognize the new sim tray. So I think I can load BLA-L09 but I'm not sure. Still doing my homework.
Thanks, I think I got it figured out now.
According to posts here in the forum, the unlock is not possible from versions >= 8.0.0.145 (which can be downgraded to ...142).
What wasn't clear to me, was the way the versioning works. But apparently it's simply counting up, so 145 is a later version than 136.

C432B142 is the last firmware where DC worked (for C432, other custs have other build numbers). B145 can be downgraded to B142. B146+ use new bootloader which can't be downgraded. So on B150 you will not be able to get an unlock code. I did however see some site which claimed it could get unlock code for any firmware, even on new devices. I'm not sure how reliable it is though and it cost €30

Just to clarify. BLA-L29 8.0.0.143 (C636Patch1) would be B143 so I can downgrade? This is the first time I'm seeing Bxxx.

Edit: If I had to guess, he has access to the tool they had hooked up to the website previously. I have a dual sim phone so he needed the IMEI of the first sim slot. That is the on on the sim tray and the one listed on top in the software.

Hi,
Anyone know of a trustworthy way of network unlocking the P9 ? I have received the device as a gift, but I don't use Vodafone and instead use EE.
I have in the meanwhile placed an order with sim-unlock.net but they take upto 8 working days to send unlock code
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

€4 to unlock the network and a further €4 if you want to unlock the bootloader.
If you do the latter, note that you need to enable OEM Bootloader unlocking in the settings else it won't work.

Is the network unlock permanent? I mean, will it still be there if you are flash the phone with another ROM?
Hey guys just wish to let you know that i've given it a try as gambling 4 euro was not a problem (£3.67)
I can confirm that it worked on my P9 on the 12/12/17. it was on Vodafone and now it allows a GiffGaff Sim (O2)
The only thing i will say is the DC Unlocker did not find my phone while connected to a usb 3 socket but all good once i swapped it to usb 2
The whole thing took about 10 mins and the software does it all for you once you have got ur credits and login details.
So dont pay through the nose at your over priced high street store when you can easily read a few steep here and be sorting in mins.

Hi all,
Is it possible to force flash the dual SIM ROM on the single SIM phone? Obviously assuming I can get the bootloader unlocked and without using the funky Huawei tool as it costs money as far as I understand.
Also if possible will then the phone receive rom updates via OTA?
Thanks
You can email them in the UK and they will give you a bootloader unlock code [email protected]

thanks, having a single IMEI shouldn't be a problem as long as the two SIMs are hosted on different networks. (at least this is my interpretation).
Would an adaptation of this method work?
http://ministryofsolutions.com/2017/10/huawei-p10-lite-rebrand-convert-dual-sim-free-method.html
Effectively if we can change the oem info file to match the dual sim version then we should be able to flash the dual SIM firmware, right?
I see in another thread even if you do it the dual sim adapter doesnt fit in the single sim variant.

Not true. One IMEI can manage two sim. You find The problem is in that countries where there is a sim-lock, like USA and Cina. This because IMEI is locked by operator. In Europe there aren't that problems !

Not true. But maybe you wrong understand. In first period there was no sim tray holder for P20 pro and someone (like me ) tested the sim tray holder of Mate 10 Pro. This works for both sim but it is too longer.
Now you can find the original sim tray holder of P20 Pro both from Huawei assistance and also from international resellers ( find it with google, like ali....)

I wrote many time in that thread : the RED sentence it isn't true ! With funkyhuawei method you can rebrand a CLT-L09 with single sim in a CLT-L29 fully working dual sim ! And I say this because I done this with my P20 Pro ! And many other poeple (for verified direct experience 5 people, but much more they said they did it). So I don't think that only few specimens of P20 Pro have a different hardware !!
I can say that all P20 pro have the same Hardware : both CLT-L09 and CLT-L29.
For your Last ask I must say that Maybe you read wrong because funky made specific tools for P20 Pro with EMUI 8.x.x . That info do you read is specific for older phone, like Honor or Mate

Just wondering if there has been any progress on this? I have rebranded from CLT-L09 to CLT-L29 and have purchased the official dual sim tray but the second sim will not get detected
Would rather not use the FunkyHuawei tool as it perma-locks the phone.
*Bump* - Can anyone please advise? I'd really like to convert my L09 to L29 to enable the second sim. I really don't want to use the funky method, due to serial change and bootloader re-lock etc.
Many thanks for your help.

You need the build number and security patch date.
Pretty much all EMUI 8 builds on the Mate 9 run a 4.4.23+ kernel, even up through the latest security patches.
Once you know the build number, find it in Firmware Finder, and find the build for that region that enables GPU Turbo. If it's an older build, then it's likely that you could use the official rollback firmware to get the bootloader unlocked.

Yup, .375 is the latest one that's good, after that .377 had GPU Turbo and issues with downgrading.

You won't get into the trouble that others did with .377 or later, yes.
But there's no guarantee everything works nicely.
Do read as much as possible before doing anything.
Also keep in mind that Android 9 is coming soon so maybe you don't need to unlock and whatnot.

Not sure if people are aware of the app DC Huawei Bootloader Codes, but I've just unlocked my Mate 10 ALP-L29 using this app, there are 2 options, a cheap £3 one, which does not work on Android O firmware and the expensive, around £23, which gets the bootloader unlock code from the phone's IMEI, so had a go at it and not even 2min I got an email with the bootloader code and confirmed working, running Android Pie from the OpenKirin team and so far all seems to be working great, so good to be back to stock Android...
Just thought I would share my experience in case someone was not aware of this great app.

Not 100% sure, but it's based on IMEI, so I would say it should be fine, I know the app asks a few questions, but I assume is just to cover themselves... I know it's a bit expensive, but if you're fed up of EMUI it's a risk worth paying, it's like having a new phone

Most probably it did, unless you used a rebranding method that I'm not aware of.

If it changed the IMEI number then you probably have a phone with an invalid IMEI number as a result, and one that will not function on the majority of carriers. The IMEI number is the actual identification used when the phone communicates, just like with network MAC addresses, no two devices can be active with the same number at the same time.
I thought I'll make this thread for the Australian Mate 20 Pro Owners.
As we may all know already, Optus and other ozzy telcos are extremely slow with releasing there updates for our devices, it's very frustrating as we have to wait for important updates and fixes.
In this thread I'll love to hear from other Australians and there opinions on this matter. Also to discuss firmwares that have been flashed from other regions on our devices etc
All topics about our devices are all welcome
I have the L29. Currently with Telstra (Prepaid)
My last OTA update was 168 which I received around the end of December.
I recently unlocked my bootloader and updated to 182 following a guide in these forums
I also rooted my device using the same guide.
I don't really have too much to say on the speed of our updates, as I've only had my Mate 20 Pro since the 28th of Dec. It's my first android phone and I'm loving it so far. I've been wanting to get away from Apple for years, but the jailbreaking scene kept me with them. Now that the scene is almost dead I decided it was time.
So now I'm getting my head around rooting.
LYA-L29 here.. C636 SPCSEAS region on mine.
Have done the fh 171 update.. Now on unlocked bootloader and rooted 182. Tried the custom 182 rom but no joy with magisk in hiding safety net stuff for Google pay.. However with the stock 182 I was able to hide the safety net checks with magisk help.
What might be of interest to people to is I've been able to downgrade back to 171 and relock bootloader which previously was said could not happen. Back on 182 though now.
Currently running an L29 bought from eBay AU but originated in the UK as far as I can tell (based on the charger mains plug)
Latest version It'll update to is .168, it started off at .109 and has done 2 updates in the 2 days I have had it.
I've ordered a BL code and will look at rooting once I have it, there seem to be 2 different guides in this forum at the moment. Still working out which way to go. One of the methods definitely involves rebooting into recovery every time in order to get root, not sure if the other method does as well.
I find the 182 firmware to be a great one, I have noticed more of a battery drain on this one but nothing to really worry about.
I find it awesome that the hwota method works and we are now able to flash the same or higher firmwares with pretty much ease now. To be honest everytime I fiddled with my phone before the hwota method came out I would stuff something up then use funky Huawei to bring it back to life lol that was beginning to be an expensive venture haha.
This device shows alot of promise, I am currently using magisk and have used modules to pass safety net. Also used titanium backup to remove some system apps I never use. I froze Huawei home and now use nova launcher and used the Google framework module to install the Google phone and contacts app which I find much better. I am happy to say I now have the device exactly where I want it to be. I have also added a 64gb Huawei nano memory card to my device, as it may be expensive I thought why not. Now all my photos get saved to memory card

The patched_boot.img method is what I'm using basically when the phone reboots it automatically boots up the patched_boot and goes straight into the os, you don't even notice it which is great

Basically grab the recovery_ramdisk IMG and use that in magisk to get a patched_boot.img that would be the best way but in the guide it's got all the info you need there.

According to that page, that method requires booting into recovery mode all the time?

LYA-L09 from Optus here still on .122, with .146 due end of this month. Optus update schedule is a joke. As soon as FH .182 is safety net approved, I'm doing it. Don't really want to pay the $70 to unlock bootloader but will likely do that too eventually.
Yes Optus is a joke. Hopefully they start working on .171 which is supposed to have a unlock bootloader although I am sure optus will modify it to stay locked.

Optus are still stuffing everyone around with not yet releasing an almost 2 months old firmware. All they can do is give you a recorded message.
They certainly are the most pathetic telecommunications company.

It seems to have come to light that optus won't be supplying firmware updates, 2 reasons were mentioned today
1 is that huawei have not issued a software licence and will not provide optus with firmware.
2 is that optus have abandoned huawei firmware updates because of the huawei 5G and US ban with regards to spying.
All the times optus have mentioned testing firmware for the mate 20 Pro has been lies, it now is apparent that they were never testing anything.
This matter via being addressed by me in writing to both Huawei and optus, if they fail to respond or provide a firmware update solution. Consumer Affairs Victoria will be filing a complaint against them con VCAT Court.

Is your phone Optus branded specifically? Could you go and buy a Telstra prepaid SIM, chuck that in, and update the phone?

No, updates are handled by the firmware supplier(Optus) no matter what SIM you put in it
Optus is awesome

So what, they get so far and over a month just to give up on .146 ... I can't wait for another month of testing .183 just for them to give up on that

They are not testing .183 they are supposed to be working on .188 but at this point optus don't have a software licence from Huawei, and huawei are refusing to release the firmware until they get a licence approved.
This could be months or not even happen at all
They also have never been testing any firmware because huawei have never released any to them for testing as to date.
Here is the message I received from Optus last week.
Hey Darren,
This is what I recieved internally from our Tech devs,
For Australian carriers, Huawei will release MR every 2 months. They do not know the release details until about 1 month before the release. They have skipped .146 and .183 because they did not meet Optus requirements. We are going to get .188 for testing which is the later version than .183. The only way for the customer to get .183 is to buy an open market handset.
So we're all still on .122 ?
I want to say "un ****ing believable" but it's really not.
It's simply not good enough
