Hello everyone, I'll start by introducing myself before presenting my questions and information that I think is necessary to recognize the situation. My name is Flavia. I'm a not very experienced and self-taught developer, I've never used xda and this is my first time doing a POST, I come here to ask for help for the developers, be it a beginner or an experiment, I've been trying to compile the kernel for Moto e5 (Nora) and I have had problems during compilation. I'm pretty sure it's due to lack of kernel drivers, camera drivers and f2fs format support, I can not say for sure, because I'm feeling a bit intimidated by this community, but based on the mistakes I can claim to be that. I would like you to help me solve the problems so we can evolve as a community and group.

Kernel already exists on Motorola Mobility Github, why do you need kernel? https://github.com/MotorolaMobilityLLC/kernel-msm/tree/oreo-8.0.0-release-nr
The only problem we have on Nora is the lack of Vendor files. Vendor takes alot of times since you have to type in every vendor file by file. Maybe when @CodyF86 releases the vendor files for Play, we will hopefully have it work on Nora. And with @MotoJunkie01 banned i don't think we will see any more progress since he actually works at Moto Mobility. Kinda sad that the people at XDA banned him..

Hello, I believe TeamWinRecoveryProject is better than ClockworkMod, and in fact a lot of people are porting it to their devices. The Team created a guide that should help people to do it:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/23903-how-to-compile-twrp-from-source/
And according to them it's an easy guide to help TWRP to diffuse, but I tried it and I didn't understand anything, because I've never built from source and however I couldn't do it because I don't have a fast Internet connection without limits.
Could an expert person compile TWRP for our Galaxy Tab, please? I believe it would be very helpful, because it's the best recovery. The guide in the link shouldn't be difficult for a person used to compiling from source.
Thank you.
Hi!
We can fix a lot of Galaxy S Advance I9070 bugs like poor battery life or low audio quality and much much more, but only with your help.
These bugs are caused by OS kernel which is not up-to-date with stock ROM’s and Samsung is refusing to update it. Our previous requests have been ignored by them, and the point is that Samsung have to update it, they are just forced by law and licensing terms of Linux, however they just don’t want to do this because of some unknown reason.
We think that the only way to get an updated source code is to… Show the power of our community and spam them with request messages. That’s the only way to fix A LOT of S Advance bugs still present. S3 Mini community have done this before with a great success, so we can do this too!
It’s a nasty way, but it’s the only thing we can do as a community, because our previous requests had been ignored.
We’d be very pleased if you want to help us. It’s easy, just send them the message provided below:
Contact form: HERE
Inquiry type: Request for Source Codes
Sample message:
I’d like to request the most recent Linux kernel source code for Galaxy S Advance I9070. Source code already available on Samsung Opensource is very outdated and not up-to-date with Samsung internal source code, which can be proved.
According to GNU GPL license you are obliged to publish any source code you had changed in Linux kernel, and you are violating law by not publishing it.
Please, stop pretending that current kernel is up-to-date and just update it. Community have had enough waiting for you to even answer to our requests.
Thanks in advance!

Our phone came with Gingerbread, and when the Jellybean update came, that source you linked was the only thing dropped (because it's GPL), which is the current source code we are using for all the kernels available, including CM11 and CoCore.
I think the only time where the older one was used, was when Shaaan tried to port CM 7.2.
Erm, most of what we don't have it's the modem/RIL, that are not ST-Ericsson but Samsung. Unless Sammy has the 3.4 kernel hidden somewhere (very unlikely), anything that is released from now on, it's pretty minor.

hi community,
i know this thread is for the developer forum but im new here and i even cant post there.
so before you think i ama noop, wait !!
i know many about android and my device(huawei p7) but i am not a developer or how can say this better i dont can programming in C, C++ or something.
ok here is the my problem.
Surdu_petru works on a cm11 build for huawei ascend p7 because nobody else do it.
But he is very busy and has no time to work on it or something else.
he put the sources for cm11 on githhub
can one of you create a working cm11 build from there?
or teach me how to do it i learn very fast.
and i think it is very sad that a great phone like the ascend p7 has a so small developer community (active developer).
links: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ascend-p7/general/info-t2920377/page9
https://github.com/surdupetru/cm11-p7
greats mausekeks
sorry for my english
Ask to the user "Araca" for details...he booted into cm11 one time...
thank you for the answer
i hope we can do this as a community for the community
and if one person need help i will lern about and help
but if i have only unclear english or german "tutorials" about that project and they say nothing about how it works i cant finally do this
Hello everyone,
I know how to program and use linux although I've never ported Android. I can build Android and get images for flashing but I'm unable to perform tests because my bootloader is "locked" and I can't boot anything...

If anyone could help me I would enjoy doing some testing and trying to fix some bugs!
We all bought our devices for one reason or another but have came to XDA with the intention of making them better and some of us have done much more than try to fix tiny issues. I want to thank all who have and are developing Custom Roms for our device. If I have missed anyone who has contributed I compel you to write his name so I could add him along with a link if any! We should all know how hard it is to code. For some it's easy but for the most part it's hard work and people tend to forget that. I myself have started learning Python thanks to these people and a fairly recent show named Silicon Valley from cough* cough* 2014. So without further ado! Here are the people I want to thank and you could thank too if you haven't already in one way or another:
@haky 86 (including anyone who has helped) link to his ongoing process:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8l...rom-cyanogen-mod-12-0-huawei-p8-lite-t3433523
@Olrak (including all omnirom devs who helped) link to his ongoing process:

A thanks to @sokkoban for making ever so slight but very useful changes to our stock emui roms. Link to some of his progress (I had to add his blogspot with his work since most of his threads here are deleted)
http://huaweip8lite.blogspot.bg/
I thank @dkonect for sharing once again the recovery needed for these roms which is developed again by XePeleato link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/twrp-3-0-0-0-p8-lite-kirin-t3343320
That includes me thanking haky 86 for giving us CWM but I put TWRP's link up there because it is currently the most used one for our device with full fearures. Pls don't kill me >___>...
And again a thank you to @hackslash (thank you for mentioning him) for helping everyone mentioned above and developing for honor 4C. (If you want to I could add someone here •___•). link to his ongoing process (if I haven't missed any):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-4c/development/cm13-huawei-honor-4c-based-hisilicon-t3367224
I'd like to then thank @codeworkx for even starting to and helping everyone here with his code on the Honor 6. Some of his progress here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6/orig-development/rom-cyanogenmod-11-honor-6-t3019056
Also I'd like to thank the Mate 7 developer who I couldn't catch his name again for helping with the RIL issues. If he is the person I think he is then he should be @gabry3795 with his process right here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mat...pdate-ascend-mate-7-stock-derivative-t3241661
If that isn't him then I compel someone to help me again but even if that isn't him I'd still like to thank that person for making a petition regarding huawei's closed source information. Granted it isn't for our device but it's for the right cause.
As you also might've noticed, our developers could use help and as somebody who is helpless in coding I feel the need to at least ask around if somebody is capable to help if needed. I am not forcing anyone I just ask politely.
Thank you for reading this long post! Here is a potato person>> (>*__*)>

It looks pretty fine, the name of the MT7 developer is correct. About the help, the help We need comes from China and doesn't want to know anything about us. That doesn't mean that if you are not Huawei you can't help, I appreciate every contribution. In my opinion you should include as well to @hackslash even though he's working on the Honor 4C, his contributions have been really great and it's a pleasure to work with him as well as with all the people you listed above.

Thank you for mentioning him and for making me interested in Python. If you're wondering how. You once said you're a C++ dev and I know a little of a similar language named C# but in order to understand more of these two languages I needed Python. And so swish swosh >>
Actually, you should thank for RIL @codeworkx who was developing CM for Honor 6, @gabry3795 just took his code from H6 device tree.
You should include sokoban too for making deodex rom for this phone.
Thanks to all Devs for working on our device ! ^_^

Hello, sokkoban.
I've installed your B574 Deodexed and I have two suggestions for your future version of ROM:
1) Implement multi window directly inti ROM. It's a feature many people want and also people are having issues with your rom when using multi window.
2) Auto hide navigation bar. There is a button but it's very annoying to press every time you go into an app.
And I have one question:
3) Are you only going to make ROMs based on Chinese ROM or you will also make European ones?

@Prostokuche Thank you for this mention, I am proud to contribute to this project. After all we are all fighting the same battle And yes, I started the petition about a year ago forcing huawei to release the sources needed for a custom ROM (Mate7 scenario is worse than the p8 one )
I also want to point out that the HuaweiRIL.java module belongs to cyanogenmod project as stated in the license header. My edit on RIL project are signed by me and those to the HuaweiRIL.java was just to exclude features that are not supported by Mate7. :highfive:
I hope you can release a fully working ROM for your device! Good luck!

Hi there. On this thread, i would also like to contribute my grattitude and appreciations to the developers who are working for our device here. I'm a new member, so unable to mention anyone more in the list. But want to be a part of the greatfuls to them. thanks alot!
Hello everyone, My name is Boris. I've been on the forum from time to time to look up advice with unlocking bootloaders, installing custom recoveries, rooting/unrooting, and installing custom ROM's.
I have a Oneplus 6T that has an unlocked bootloader running Oxygen OS 10.3.12. I figured I join up and see what I can contribute since I've used this forum so much to get great info, advice, and files from other users. I really appreciate what the developers and enthusiasts do here because this resource has helped me many times with not only my current device but previous devices that I've owned in the past.
My main reason for being here recently is because I haven't been able to successfully disable dm-verity/AVB or force encryption for the purpose of installing kali nethunter. Im trying to get that resolved and if and when I do Ill post all the info so that others with the OP6T can do the same.
IT stuff Im familiar with and have amateur experience in is Windows, Kali Linux, Monjaro Linux, Debian, Ubuntu, Networking (Including Cisco training on ITPro TV), a bit of Active Directory experience, I'm a python beginner (Took a python scripting class at my college last semester), a bit of bash/zsh scripting, computer hardware, as well as a few other things.
