Reporting Bugs
DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
Include your OOS base versions in reports. (Eg: 9.0.0, OB7, 9.0.2, etc.)
If it is a random reboot, grab dmesg . (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues.
Changelogs
All changelogs are present here: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/AOSiP-Devices/Updater-Stuff/master/enchilada/changelog
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q: Which TWRP do I use?
A: Use only latest blu_spark TWRP from HERE
Q: Which GApps do I use?
A: I recommened OpenGApps. Any GApps should work but I will only be answering to issues where OpenGApps is used.
Q: Do I have to wipe data if coming from another ROM?
A: Yes, I will not be providing help/support to users that haven't wiped data when coming from another ROM.
Q: How often will I be getting updates?
A: The plan is for weeklies, if unavoidable circumstances come up, please don't spam the thread. I will release a build as soon as one is ready.
Q: Does VoLTE/VoWiFi work?
A: Yes, I have tested on Jio in India and it does work. If you have VoLTE/VoWiFi on OxygenOS working, you should have it working on AOSiP.
Q: I ended up on CrashDump mode, how do I get back to my system?
A: Theres a valuable thread HERE which can help restoring your system, you WILL LOSE ALL DATA and I will not be blamed under any circumstances.
Q: Is the ROM official?
A: Yes, all builds from the 27th of January 2019 are now Official.
Q: I use Telegram, where can I find help on that platform?
A: There is a common AOSiP Group Chat for all devices, the link is HERE
Q: Does SafteyNet pass and is the SELinux Enforcing?
A: Yes, SafteyNet does pass without Magisk as well as with Magisk and SELinux is Enforcing.
Q: What OOS Base firmware do I use?
A: Anything above OOS 9.0 should work fine, i recommend being on the stable OOS builds but the Beta OOS updates should work fine too
Q: I'm having high idle drain, please fix.
A: I'll need more data from you to figure it out, Install BetterBatteryStats and let me know about what it tells you after 3-4 charge cycles. Please do not report issues when having apps like Greenify, Naptime, Wakelock blocker etc.
Q: The vibration sliders aren't taking into effect, they are the same value as they were before increasing/decreasing
A: They aren't the same value. The vibration tested during sliding the slider doesnt reflect the actual value, you can experience the actual value during an incoming call/notification/system vibration.
Q: Does Android Auto and Google Pay work?
A: I've had several users report that Android Auto works!
Google Pay is now 100% working from 20180127.
NOTE: I can't test both of these but i trust my users and testers
Q: My phone is stuck on the "Bootloader is unlocked" warning page, why isn't my system booting?
A: Since there are a bunch of scripts being executed when the device is sent a power on signal, it might take some time to boot. Don't panic, your system will boot fine after some time. All builds are personally tested by me and a few testers.
Q: When I'm updating via OTA in the Updater, do I have to reflash GApps and Magisk? Will TWRP stay after I update?
A: When updating via OTA, GApps and Magisk will remain intact. Have a look in /system/addon.d/. Anything that is present inside that folder will stay after the update.
TWRP will not stay since A/B devices don't have a recovery partition for it to actually stay. You will be reverted to the stock recovery.
yay, another toy to play with
will give her a go once I'm home.
Nice ?
Yeaaah!!?
---------- Post added at 08:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:16 PM ----------
I flashed this rom and till now it's working really great and really smooth!!
Good work!
If you can just add oos gestures it would be a really great rom for me.
Oos cam?
For everyone that already flashed the build before 12:50AM IST(Indian Standard Time) on the 18th of October 2018, I released a build with the same file name in the website, the build fixes Auto rotate for the device! You can check which file was downloaded based on the file name (the new build is Beta while the old build was BETA) or by the md5 file in the website.
Since the bug is now resolved, I have also removed it from the Known Issues section of the thread.
Have fun with the ROM and rotate the device to your hearts content!
why aren't we wiping system before flashing the rom and why do we need oos on both the slots before this?

OOS Camera is included with almost everything working, only issue currently is rear portrait mode.
I'd personally recommend using a GCam port though.

The ROM zip handles wiping of system and flashing of it in a more stable manner, I've personally had crashdumps or corrupt system partition several times when wiping system from TWRP.
You need it on both slots to ensure you have the necessary firmware in place to prevent bootloops.
Quick question. You said the night mode doesn't have a toggle option currently. Is it forced to be enabled by default?

Does all functions of Gcam work perfectly?
@anirudhgupta109 - An unexpected surprise when I saw this thread! I'm still rocking this ROM on my two Bullhead units. Great to see you here! :highfive:

Disabled and no way to enable, sadly OnePlus' display doesn't follow the AOSP way of night mode so it requires a custom function to enable which I need to work on, when I do it'll be added.
For now, you could change the Panel Modes from the QS tile to Night Mode.

Yes, it depends on which port you're using. Look around for one that works perfectly, shouldn't be too hard!

i loveddd aosip on my 6p.
glad to see it pop up for the op6.
quick question, i am currently on another custom rom ( i had previously flashed oos pie twice to have it on both slots) will i have to do that again to flash aosip.
or can i simply do a clean wipe and flash aosip?

As a precaution, flash it once and then AOSiP
I have to say, the boot animation is CRISP, will come back with a review of the ROM.
This ROM seems really promising, I have one question though, does it have any option to hide the notch?

FAQ:
Before using the ROM:
Q. Can I have an ETA for the next build?
A. Yes, just look in the OP to see if your device is built on a nightly or weekly schedule.
Q. Does this ROM support custom kernels?
A. No. You can still use them, but discussion should go in the thread of the respective kernel. We don't offer support for bugs you might encounter while using them!
Q. Why doesn't this ROM support Xposed?
A. Xposed is a hack that is geared towards AOSP, custom ROM's modify the framework a lot, so Xposed can cause a ton of issues on custom ROM's. Now it might work for you, however it is not to be discussed in this thread, and you should refrain from posting bug reports.
Q. Alright, but I still want to flash Xposed, so which version do I need to install?
A. You will need to use the version arm64/arm/whatever for SDK 27.
Flashing the ROM:
Q. What do I need to know before flashing?
A. Check the install instructions in the first post...
Q. Can the builds be dirty flashed over each other?
A. Yes, however make a nandroid backup first as there is a chance of getting a bootloop or encountering bugs. Also bugs may only be reported on a clean flash.
Q. How do I dirty flash builds?
A. Wipe the System, Cache and ART/Dalvik cache. Flash the ROM, GApps (only needed if you wipe the system), your preferred root solution and reboot. Or just use the OTA app to preform that task for you.
Q. How do I flash kernel builds?
A1. If it's a .img file, boot into TWRP and go to the install page in TWRP, in the bottom right corner select "install image", select the desired kernel, then select "boot", then swipe to flash, then go back to the install screen and install your root method again, if you don't want to loose root and reboot.
A2. If it's a flashable ZIP, you can flash it together with a ROM update or separately. Go to the install page in TWRP, choose the kernel zip (or add it to the flash queue right after the ROM zip). Then add your root method to the queue if you don't want to loose root. Now swipe to flash, and then reboot.
Using the ROM:
Q. I installed a bad theme and now I'm getting a bootloop, how do I fix it?
A. In TWRP, flash the substratum rescue zip that's in the substratum folder on the internal storage.
Q. Do I need to provide a logcat if I'm reporting a bug?
A. If you want it to be fixed faster (or at all) then yes, you should definitely provide a logcat. (Note: Please just link the logcat from your GDrive, Dropbox, etc. and do not post the content here. Thanks.
Q. How do I get a logcat, what type should I get and more questions that can conveniently be answered by my pre-determined answer?
A1. Read this thoroughly. Also, here's a good app for getting logs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tortel.syslog (Root needed).
The ROM should contain everything you need to enjoy Android. You don't need to install any Add-on's, simply download the latest ROM, GApps, flash it and go!
If you want the device to run the ROM "rooted", you can flash a root solution of your choice after the ROM Zipfile.
It is STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing and please avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup as this can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug.
If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience any strange behavior.
- Backup your personal data (Important)
- Download the ROM and GApps and transfer them to your device.
- Boot to recovery (TWRP recommended).
- Wipe the System, Cache, Data and ART/Dalvik cache.
- Flash the ROM + Gapps Zipfile.
- Flash the root solution of your choice (optional).
- Reboot your device.
The ROM has GApps persistence in between dirty flashes, so you only have to flash them once!
The root solution should be flashed together with every update (= ROM Update)
Currently Supported Root Solutions:
Magisk stable
Magisk versions higher than 14.0 doesn't require flash on every dirty flash depending on the device, some devices need you to flash it every time, unless your maintainer says otherwise it should be fine

One more thing, for now, I haven't installed or downloaded you ROM, but I want to ask if the message app has this bug or not:
If you send a message to someone, and you stay in that conversation/thread while waiting for him/her to reply, when you receive the reply, then immediately delete the newly received message, the mesage app will crash.
Sorry for asking it before trying first.

Same happened with Lineage 16.0 SO did it in the order of ROM, Magisk, (new download) GApps, boot, manually install magisk manager. That worked for LOS 16.0, so assume it would also work on this ROM. Not sure which of the above actually resolved it.

I flashed this, and was surprised how smooth and snappy it felt.
I got root to work with Magisk by manually installing the manager.
A couple of notes:
The launcher "worked" but had bugs. long pressing the home screen popped up a white menu with white writing. I successfully changed the wallpaper in the settings
A few times when I installed APK's from a file, the installer would get "stuck". It installed, but the done/open options never came up, and it was often a reboot to access the phone again.
It has some extra features, but is pretty close to AOSP. ie not the customisation I am used to
The screen had a habit of turning down to lower brightness after each time I set it to a higher brightness
Its SELinux permissive, and when I checked, there were a heap of audit exceptions. That would be expected on an early build.
I could make calls and send/receive SMS
Kind of inspires me to Build Pie Havoc-OS downloading the source now...

A couple more things I noted:
1.There is no music player (Thats ASOP, and Pico GApps) I downloaded Vinyl from Playstore, as it allows dark theme'ing.
2. There is No Audio FX. I rooted via magisk, then simply installed Viper v2.6.?.? , installed the drivers, rebooted, enabled it, and it worked :good:

Thats not a bug, but a character of ASOP over lineage; some see it as a reason for going ASOP! Its like saying RR has a bug because I cant set the lockscreen date font colour, but I can on Havoc.
You are using german specific NTP Servers. My preference in my ROMs is to use the more "international" NTP Servers of
Code:
#Global
NTP_SERVER=2.android.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=time.izatcloud.net
#North America
#NTP_SERVER=north-america.pool.ntp.org
#Australia
#NTP_SERVER=au.pool.ntp.org
#Test
#NTP_SERVER=time.gpsonextra.net
#Europe
NTP_SERVER=europe.pool.ntp.org
#Asia
NTP_SERVER=asia.pool.ntp.org
maybe un-comment North America.
I tested many servers using
Code:
ping
(NB: they dont all respond to a ping request) and
Code:
w32tm /stripchart /computer:2.android.pool.ntp.org /dataonly /samples:5
NB: from the device without WiFi.
My bad, that's a windows thing
Great ROM !!! Using this ROM for 3 days and not many bugs ! The only bugs are camera sometimes fails to open / takes long time to open and home button doesn't work on wake up ! All other things working great ! Super fast! Great interface! Great job ! Looking forward for new updates???

After flashing this recovery, I was able to boot the ROM successfully. Initial impressions, good. Everything is working fine. I don't use VoLTE so no issue for me if it's working or not. Camera works. Camcorder works. Wi-Fi works. Flashlight works. Sound works. There are some issues tho. Whenever I touch Battery option in Settings, the Settings app force closes. Don't know what's the issue. Also, after every reboot, the phone automatically goes to vibration mode. Great ROM overall.

This is Candy Pie for the Redmi Note 3. Built straight from source with commits from a variety of different Sources/ROMS. We wanted to give the users a fun, fully customisable ROM, with regular updates and security patches.
We do this as a hobby, and we happily share the Candy of our toils with the custom ROM community, for free. We use what we share on our own devices, most as Daily Drivers, so you can be confident that problems will be promptly addressed.
Thanks for your support and camaraderie. Special thanks to GZOSP, GZR-ROMs, LineageOS, SlimRoms, OmniROM, AOSiP, DU and the innumerable rest who make their source open. We can't do all of this on our own!
Donations are appreciated, but NEVER expected.
Stay tuned for more Candy!

Flash Magisk
Reboot
Enjoy
NOTE:
If you have issues with Settings or Play Services force-closes you need to clean flash.
Please give first boot several minutes.
New additions and fixes being added constantly
If you have any other issue, please let us know in proper bug reporting fashion as indicated below.
Do NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed other shady mods.
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops and /sys/fs/pstore/dmesg-ramoops-0.
Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

Do the apps really not work or you want selinux to be enforcing before you do transactions, for security I mean? Because I have had no issues using banking apps on lineage pie unofficial, even with root access. I have hidden root for banking apps via magiskhide. Maybe you can try that?

In zcx twrp whenever I try to take a nandroid backup it shows an error of can't mount system! Tried mounting system from mount option in zcx twrp but didn't helped and one more thing that I was unable to add fingerprint after first boot. Rom is smooth but my battery backup is not good as i was getting in miui 10 global beta with agni kernel. I tried agni kernel pure pie but didn't helped. Can anyone suggest me any kernel working good with this rom. ?

This is Candy Pie for the Essential Phone.

The CandyROMs team is looking for testers who can help us test and improve the ROM experience over time. Testers generally get new features and fixes before a public release and a source merge and help in the development as result. Interested people can DM me their Telegram usernames or message at our Telegram public chat http://t.me/candyroms mentioning the same. Thanks!

Sweet Rom. I'm having trouble with the camera. It states i need to insert a sd card to use. Also adding the ability to raise the toast higher up would be great. In expanded mode its cut in half because its so low on the screen to begin with. And battery drain seems a little faster than stock.
I wasn't able to use this ROM as my phones screen would quit receiving touches every 20 minutes or so requiring a reboot. I would've pulled a log but I was at work and needed a working phone call immediately. May try again this weekend.
This happened on the 5-21 and 5-22 builds.

I just managed to get a brand new sealed PH-1 for $250. I want to install the candy ROM on it. Was wondering if with this ROM you can hide all your status bar icons and have a nice clean look with nothing showing there? Also it's been a while since I have used a ROM on my phone, is it still uisng TWRP and flashing?

I'd say it's very likely that you will be able to hide all of the status bar icons on this ROM. It's typically a normal feature that all of the Essential custom ROM's implement.
Yes, TWRP is used for flashing ROM's, as well as gapps and Magisk (if needed). However, if you aren't familiar with a/b partitions/slots, then you will need to do some reading on how to have everything working properly. It becomes easy once you get the hang of it.
You will definitely want to check the OP to see the installation instructions. Once you have have TWRP installed and working properly, this is the flashing procedure: Flash ROM > Flash the TWRP zip file > reboot recovery > Flash gapps and Magisk if needed > reboot to the slot the ROM is installed to in TWRP. You may experience one bootloop if you flash Magisk, and that's normal. These files need to be on your phone's internal storage.
I highly recommend reading the OP's, and search around if you have any issues, from the links below. Some ROM's don't include gapps. Recommended is opengapps nano. ARM64 and Android 9.0. https://opengapps.org/
https://forum.xda-developers.com/es...official-twrp-3-2-3-0-essential-ph-1-t3840931 (you will always want to have the two different TWRP files on your PC and phone's internal storage to be safe).
https://forum.xda-developers.com/essential-phone/development/stock-7-1-1-nmj20d-t3701681 (in case you run in to any issues, you can download and flash patched OTA's or run back to stock [BTS] files from your PC. I always do the BTS full wipe method for a completely fresh, clean install. And definitely read the 2nd and 3rd points in the OP about safely unlocking your bootloader).
https://forum.xda-developers.com/essential-phone/how-to/guide-how-to-install-twrp-root-t3841922 (this will get you going with TWRP. If the touchscreen isn't registering in TWRP at first, then read post 2 in that thread and follow those instructions. Make sure to download/install the Essential drivers and adb/fastboot files, and extract each to the same folder on your PC before running any commands or trying to flash files. I also recommend adding any other files to that same folder [OTA's, BTS files, rom, gapps, Magisk, etc]. Be sure USB Debugging is enabled beforehand, as well).
Note: The provided USB-C cable with the phone does not play nicely with a PC. You will want to get a third party cable for connecting to a PC, transferring files, etc. The provided cable is primarily used for only charging the phone. Here's what I use, and it works flawlessly for PC use: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DC52K2G/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_8cdlDb55V7TJK
