Help you with what? ? That's another fake news, there's no official roll-out, just beta versions for those that joined the beta testing project.

..........ok sorry....
Good day,
9.0.0.108 (C432E4R1P8log).
Are we all on this version?
It would be good to share experiences.
First experience:
surfed for almost 1 hour, recorded clips and recordings, played music, started new crazy options, loaded with the site, played mobile on smart TV via the "smart board" option, adjusted the options. spent about 5 hours almost without interruption. The battery ran out from 100% to 78%, while nothing was out of the question.
-the "smart board" option gives you all the content of your mobile on TV and work your fingertips on the screen on TV, from e-mail, viewing clips to playing,
- the option for a "wallet" is relaxed, but in Serbia,
the screen of the mobile station is a smart board,
4K video recording,
in 720 resolution, the video clips can be slowed from 120 fps to 960 fps. Perfect.
Some strange things,
the Wifi signal is continuously plugged in and I can not touch it by touching it,
In the label it says that the battery is 100% and in the settings there is actual consumption, discrepancy or what.
Mobile does not heat up while the camera is working.
They were a bit trickier with notifications when using melody and tuning.
There is no working TWRP for EMUI 9 and it cannot be rooted so far...
From what I am familiar Huawei blocked the option to unlock the bootloader therefore it cant be rooted, correct me if I am wrong?
Does the Always On Display have a functionality to customize it in 9.0 beta?

It's because it uses system-as-root.
Normally this can be "fixed" by removing skipinitramfs in kernel, but Huawei removed it completely.
So we have to wait for TopJohnWu to release some solution OR for kernel sources to see if ramdisk can be enabled again (if only to start magisk)
So this can not be downloaded and flashed??
That is correct.

today i had a notification update the update was 0.95 GB
in the change log it mentioned adding face unlock the new night mode (enhanced than before) plus nay security patches and improvements ....
im still updating so i didnt try them out yet
would keep you posted if you are interested
so? can you give us an update on the update?
Biggest feature is the face unlock
It is super fast and secure too as i tried using a picture of me and stuff which sometimes works on other phones but it didn't unlock also there is no a raise to wake feature kinda like the iphone
Didn't notice yet any performance and battery changes
Just a slight camera optimization
Will keep u updated as i use it more...
Did u get the face unlock?
Also there is a new app called app gallery
Basically another application store but it also updates huawei's own applications and stuff
My mate 10 has face unlock with april update patch.. not may.
I updated mine and its mentioned that theres new night shot mode but nothing new in night shot mode

It is the one from the p20. 4 seconds and stabilized. Old night mode was 8 seconds and shakey by hand for me
I like the update. Face unlock is fast to, has a lift to wake option now
My mate 10 is rooted with magisk and using twrp as recovery. How can i update to latest? Update with OTA will brick my phone??
noticed that the theme app was acting slowly... then while playing around with huawei's appstore, I set the country to china (funny, they removed the united states as an option from the list of countries now). After that, the theme app updated itself, and now we have a lot more options to download. The china one seems to be mostly paid, but change it to any other country and the remaining ones only show the free options. Guess since china doesn't have payment options from those countries, the paid themes/wallpapers/etc don't show up
Hello people,
I'm a long time Xiaomi-User.
I saw this phone for 300€ (used, but perfect condition) and decided to buy it and give it a chance.
If it would be not that great (for me, ofcourse), I'd sell it and buy the Mi 9, since I love MIUI.
But yeah, since I already ordered it, here are my questions:
1. Am I going to hate EMUI? (maybe someone has experience with both MIUI and EMUI)
2. How's the camera after all the updates? I watched YouTube videos but since most of the good videos are old, I thought I should ask here.
- low light?
- OIS working as it should?
- video stabilisation? are videos really that bad?
- selfie?
- other?
3. Battery should be good? Over 6 hours SoT possible?
4. Any other useful tips for me, as a newcommer to Huawei/P20 Pro? Some must have know-hows?
Thanks!

Hello. I will answer,of course with my personal opinions.
I work in IT,so I talk a lot on the phone, and I receive plenty of emails,I even browse 9gag a lot,Facebook, and still I get 1 day and a half of battery...so don't worry(but I also stopped from startup most of the apps, except the ones I want notifications from, usually messaging apps),and I manually Debloated it(you can uninstall system apps using ADB,without root and without unlocking the bootloader,so no problems with warranty - I just removed apps like Chrome,Google AI,google photos, google music, google Duo,google Drive).
I never used a Xiaomi,so I don't know how much you will like the interface, but it's easy to use once you get used to it.
You can even activate a drawer for apps if you don't like apps directly on home screen, notifications can be changed to "unread" instead of the default one with a dot on the app(I use unread,I like it better,so I know how many notifications I have per app).
Cameras are great(I hope your device is alright, since it's not new).
I have the european version with update 9.0.0.195
Cameras are really good with AI,and you have a Master AI slider,so you can disable it. An advice: after updating to latest version, wipe cache partition from Recovery(turn off the phone, then hold the volume + while turning it on,and do not release volume + button until it enters the recovery, then wipe cache partition).
After booting, just go to settings - apps - Camera - storage and wipe data for this app,so it will not use the old files from old version.
And an advice for photos with multiple people(doesn't matter if you use the selfie camera or back cameras).
When you're making group photos, with multiple persons, disable the portrait mode either by touching the little X besides the "Portrait mode",or by sliding to "Photo" mode. Because if portrait is enabled,it will focus on one person and blur the others...it seems it's not for multiple persons. Someone told me it's the same on Mate 20 Pro.
Video stabilization is not enabled when filming in 4K,but it works well with 1080p 60 fps(it's better on emui 9 than on emui 8).
Hope I helped. Cheers!

I recently moved from Mi 6 to P20 Pro. I actually like EMUI more than MIUI.
First of all I'm a big fan of app drawer which is missing from MIUI and can be enabled in EMUI.
To my taste EMUI 9 looks (icons, settings order etc.) and works (animation smoothness, power management) better than MIUI 10.
Although both those things are only personal preference.
2. How's the camera after all the updates? I watched YouTube videos but since most of the good videos are old, I thought I should ask here.

I'm a bad photographer, but even I manage to do some good pictures on P20 Pro. Night mode is great, and overall the camera software is way more polished than what I had on Mi 6. I can't compare difference in camera between EMUI 8 and EMUI 9 because I upgraded pretty much straight ahead.
3. Battery should be good? Over 6 hours SoT possible?

I don't usually check SoT, but overall battery life is great. On average I charge the phone every 36 hours (usually when ~20% left). With Mi 6 is was a bit less.

1. As already mentioned - Use debloat to uninstall apps that you don't need (use with caution).
2. Disable automatic power management for apps you want to run constantly (Settings -> Battery -> App launch).
3. Learn how to use the Camera app.
4. Don't expect for very fast Android updates (as MIUI user you should be familiar with that).
@exodus394 , @arty_a ,
first of all, thanks for your answers!
My P20 Pro arrived today and I'm still testing everything.
I'm pretty happy with everything except maybe the camera. I couldnt test it 100% but the photos I took with the phone, arent that great.
Especially the night mode. I could almost say, it's maybe 20% better than with normal mode.. I dont know, maybe I'm doing something wrong.
I used gcam (google camera) on my Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and the Night mode on gcam was like 50 times better than on P20 Pro, although Xiaomi doesnt have that good camera as P20 Pro has.
I already wiped cache via recovery and deleted cache+data from the camera app, but it's still not good.
Anything I could do wrong here?
I was thinking about debloating and will do it now.
@arty_a ,
what are the benefits of disabling the automatic power managment for apps?
If it's enabled, do I stop getting notifications for some apps? (like MIUI had a problem with)
And, what do you mena with "Learn how to use the Camera app"? Manual mode or something else?
Thanks again guys!

I think there is something wrong with your unit. P20 Pro is the best at night and low light photos. I even took photos in environments where I barely could see something with naked eye,but the phone took a lot of details, more than I could see...no phone can do that better at the moment.

Exactly that.
In addition some apps can fail to autostart when triggered by other app (Waze + Spotify, AndroidAuto + pretty much everything). It's very annoying and frustrating when you run into it for the first time.

Just check all the settings and modes you have, like "Beauty" and "Light" in Portrait mode, Pro mode where you can control pretty much everything, "More" where you have the slow-mo and a lot of other stuff.
Regarding "Night mode" try using it when it's really dark, not just low lite situation, that is where it shows its full power.
Very interesting thread. My question has to do with security. Since we all know about the allegations that have been thrown at Huawei about not being a secure phone since it is manufactured in China, what steps can the average Joe take to make this phone more safe without installing a custom ROM. I've already done the de-bloating steps listed here. Thanks in advance

I apologize in advance for being harsh.
First of all - if you want to learn about this stuff go do some research, I mean, at least 5 first pages of google, don't ask anonymous people on a forum.
One of the things you will learn is that main concern about Huawei are not phones but other, enterprise, products - cellular network controllers, servers etc. Spying on people over phones is cool but not efficient, spying over governments and enterprises over their backbone and communication infrastructure is very efficient and scary.
Now, let me split my answer into 2 parts:
1) If you are concerned over hardware, don't use a smartphone at all. All manufacturers either produce their phones in China or at least use some hardware produced in China. If the Chinese want to physically bug your phone they will, even if it's an iPhone.
2) If you are concerned over software, then again, it's not only Huawei, pretty much any non-American manufacturer (Hauwei, Xiaomi, LG, even Samsung) can overnight push an OTA that will add "spying" software and I bet it will not be found immediately.
Now, if you are concerned about privacy and not security then:
1) If you use Apple or Google account you are already willingly give away a lot of your information to be processed by them.
2) If you have any social media account you do the same in addition to making parts of that information publicly accessible.
3) Regarding phone specific vendor (Huawei in this case) - don't use any vendor specific services (Huawei ID, built in Email app, AppGallery, etc.)
P.S. Custom ROMs can contain some "bad things" too.

1. The best you can do untill ota arrives is to try via hicare. That way i managed to install emui9 on my vtr-l29c432. The firmwares on ff might cause a brick if it's not the right one for your device so i don't think it's worth the risk.
2.In terms of performace i find the overall system a bit faster and smoother in transitions so for me it's a worth upgrade. No slowdowns or whatever, it's quick and stable with no issues so far (approx. 2weeks of use). Battery seems to be the same, depends on your usage, it may dry fast if you always on screen or it can last a full day if you don't stress it out. About the video i'm not so sure about it but on 1080p 60fps seems to be fine but again i'm not sure about it. I dont record that much on the phone, i ocasionally take some pictures and the camera seems to be fine. Maybe with future updates will be better. It's all about your preferences.
3. I don't use root but maybe it's possible with magisk.
4.Yes, with hisuite.

To upgrade to EMUI 9, you need a full firmware - those are listed as VTR-L29C432E1R1P9B165 (9.0.1.165), as an example. The LGRP2 firmwares, those are core system update images for non-Chinese devices (the Bnnn portion of the build number); they split the pieces apart into separately versioned bits with Pie.
I can't say anything for EMUI 9 features specifically, as I installed it for the updated vendor image, not EMUI.
You can root, with Magisk. They removed the ability to boot with a ramdisk in a normal boot, so Magisk takes over recovery instead; newer releases can boot both ways by button detection at boot time.
Downgrade - hisuite.
My battery life went down, but to early to say, because theese Huaweis is smart and needs time to learn habits and battery use... In two weeks I know more.
I don't think it's worth it. Smoother animations and better zoom photo quality are the only upsides. Other than that:
- camera app is much less intuitive, swiping between modes is slow and irritating, that's one of the things that should not be copied from iOS
- no video stabilization whatsoever
- image color processing is a hit and miss (it hates nature), when it gets slightly darker images are too dark
- I lost 1 hour of screen on time
- gallery app is stupid, it lost all the customization. You can't change folders to a list, you can't even rearrange the order!
- screenshot "mechanic" is stupid, it adds one unnecessary step to the process if you want to edit it or something
- themes app is unuseable, it got worse going from Nougat to Oreo, now it's just a messy store. Keep the theme you're on right now and forget about it.
- NFC issues (file transfer works, mobile payments don't).
In short - If your P10 works fine don't bother with the update.

Can underline this.
Also the Memo-App is bad now, no more tick-boxes for quick notes (which is really annoying) and other small issues.
On of the most annyoing is the changing of notification colors on the lockscreen. This is so infuriating for me.....
I dig the Pie, better blutooth, and cams and gallery is nice here, also like the look on swipe menu, and maneuver...
The battery is better today.. I've blockcharged while I was in the shower and 50% now...
It's an old phone.. so I usually block charge abit on the night, in weekend I tend to stay up abit later also...
The phone is faster loading and multitasking.
Gallery is nice? What's nice about it? Blinding white background while viewing your pictures? Or the fact that you cannot do such basic thing as rearranging the order of your folders?
Pie on p10 is very battery efficient. It's so efficient at killing background processes that even calendar notifications won't work properly anymore. Last time I had alarm 22 hours and some minutes late. All other notifications appear at very random times, but always very late. Notifications work fine only for a few days until the app probably gets kicked out of ram. Completeley useless.
And then there is camera with much worse low light quality, bluetooth problems, useless themes app and bunch of other completely useless features and I'm slowly having enough of huawei and their updates. I've had my p10 since march 2017 and I don't think it ever worked without at least one major bug.
Ok I get the point, pie is for someone good and for - too many - a mess. But, maybe because it's a beta? On FF I cannot understand if it9s a beta release or not. Because some other versions of oreo are been released on April with Pie.
And BTW I have spend some time to read some threads here (dated March) and the @Jannomag scripts and it's obvious that it's too early to install it. There is no TWRP, and install magisk is completed and unreliable.
So maybe I will update oreo and wait that pie is mature enough at least that I could install twrp and magisk. Because, honestly, I don't care that gallery app or themes are worst, I could always replace them, the importance is that the system is usable.
It's not a beta. I got it through HiCare app, it's an official OTA update. Besides - most of the things I'm complaining about are present in P30 as well. That's how EMUI 9 is supposed to work.
@Imnotdriving, how is Bluetooth better? Asking because it might be a factor in my decision to upgrade ?
As it turns out, my phone got the pie update last night so I got my own answer. One previously stubborn to connect speaker now connects quickly with aptx Bluetooth hence confirming that Bluetooth is improved.
Otherwise I like the new gesture navigation option in this update. Beyond that, not much is different for the way I use the phone.
There are a lot of new services running and I disabled about a dozen of the low hanging fruit. There's more that I'm sure I'll disable over time once I find out what they do.

For the initial update, the LGRP1/LGRP2 packages shouldn't be used - while it's marked FullOTA, it's not a complete build, as it's missing various partitions that need to be flashed in an upgrade from Oreo. (Basically, you'll brick if you flash one of those.)
If you're already on Pie, either works equally well.

I've done all of my updates to P using a nocheck recovery. I can't say anything about the tricks with HiSuite or the script you've mentioned, though they should work just fine.
As far as the build numbers go: LGRP1-CHN and LGRP2-OVS are the China and everywhere else builds, respectively. It's possible that some of them might be beta, though I suspect the release notes would give up some indication of that.
February 20th. According to foreign media reports, Google launched the developer preview version of the next version of the Android operating system
New reported features.
1- "context-aware Bluetooth flight mode", that is, when the mobile phone is connected to a Bluetooth headset or a hearing aid, turning on the flight mode, Bluetooth will not be turned off.
2- A reverse wireless charging function, called "Battery Share".
3- Users will now be able to grant one-time location access to applications.
4- Android 11 brings a new link API to support 5G networks, so developers can take advantage of the improved speed and latency provided by 5G, such as making the app automatically provide the corresponding high-quality video when a high-quality network is detected.
5- Android 11 also adds a Bandwidth Estimator API that allows developers to easily determine the amount of downstream / uplink bandwidth available without the application having to query or calculate their own estimates.
6- Android 11 has added the function of levitating chat bubbles. As long as the APP uses a new API, the ongoing conversation can be suspended in the form of bubbles on the screen.
7- In addition, copy and paste have also been upgraded. If the app supports direct copy and paste of images, then Android 11 supports pasting pictures directly into the reply of the app, reducing the need for users to cut between multiple apps. Chrome APP now Supported.
8- Android 11 adds a one-time permission for location, microphone, and camera permissions. In other words, an app that has obtained a one-time permission will still ask the user for authorization next time.
9- Screen recording
10- New Motion Sense gestures to pause music.

That's assuming someone actually managed to boot it. Tried with to different vendors and it won't boot wasted 2hrs.

Honestly the chat bubbles are a big deal and hopefully something the Android developer team is focusing on for the a11 release. Miss the heck out of Halo from paranoid Android team back in the day.
Hi all,
I was one of the lucky ones to be asked by OPPO to test ColorOS 12 on my X3 Pro.
Because of the NDA i'm not allowed to show screenshots, but I am allowed to answer questions.
In general I can say it needs a little bit more work.
- There is an issue with the fingerprint access in some apps.
- My Bank app does not start (not even after a reinstall).
- The Wifi icon in quick settings looks like wifi is disabled, even though it's enabled.
- At first there was a floating icon for Bitwarden that I could only move around, but not remove from the desktop. After two days it disappeared.
- The power menu now finally shows available smart home commands to use from the menu.
- I'm using Nova Launcher, and that still seems to work fine.
- The screenshot functionality has been improved a bit.
- There is an occassional freeze
- Not all of the new gestures work as advertised
- The speed of the OS is quite good
- The refresh rate seems to be locked at 120, except when watching a YT video at full screen
- one time I got a call and my screen remained black, I couldn't take the call
Hi and thank you for your feedback from using ColorOS 12.
Interestingly. Is it for global or Chinese version of mobile?

The global version. I'm in the Netherlands.
Hi. I was checking the APKmirror website and it seems that they have uploaded some of the apps extracted from the android 12 update. So far I have installed the Photo APK, the files manager, the clock, the screenshot, compass and maybe some more. I have to say that they look very nice and a little more elegant than before.

Interesting you can get it in the Netherlands. I am still waiting for UK version (also under the NDA)
Oops, now i got two annoying floating icons that do nothing and can't be removed.
Has anyone seen something like this in ColorOS 11?
