This is an official response LG regarding Dolby Vision and HDR10 on the LG V40 ThinQ. I found it pretty dumb that they didn't certify the V40 with Dolby Vision given the high quality of this OLED Panel. Maybe the G6 was 12 bit but there's TVs' out there that don't have 12bit panels and support Dolby Vision.
Couldn't attach a copy of the email so here is what was written.

No new update so far?
My LG G6 Dolby vision quality is superb compared to my LG v40 on hdr10 it's absolutely insane. The color quality and sharpness difference is fastly obvious. If handset support both Dolby vision and hdr10 we as consumers should have the choice which format we want to stream in. I choose Dolby vision over hdr10 every time. I'm on the LG G6 G7 G8 v40 & v50 and the G6 picture smokes all of them on Netflix with DV!

No support on v40?
The G6 defaults to Dolby vision. The others HDR 10. The quality on Netflix specifically is far better on the the G6 than any other LG I listed.

Hi,
I currently have a Galaxy S2 and am looking to upgrade.
The video camera is a prime reason for the upgrade. Ideally I want something that can record HDR video with optical image stabilisation. Lots of my video is taken handheld in low(ish), high contrast light so I figure both of these features are important. I was hoping to see HDR + OIS in the HTC One M8 announcement, but that didn't happen.
I'd be interested to know a couple of things:
1. How good is the HDR video recording feature? I've struggled to see many reviews/opinions.
2. How good is the OIS?
3. If you were about to upgrade now and had video as a priority, would you think about the HTC One?
I don't know of any other phones that have both HDR video and OIS. My alternative would be to get another camera with OIS - I think on balance this is more important than HDR video. I suppose I could also get HDR video and have either in-phone software stabalisation, or use a PC application to give me the stabalisation.
Cost isn't a massive factor, but I don't see a real "value proposition" I'm thinking of going for a Nexus 5 or LG G2. Although video is important, obviously having a nice fast phone that will last is also appealing, so I've not totally written off the idea a current gen phone I can get in the next month or so.
Any advice on models would be appreciated.
Thanks

I'm far from a video recording expert, but i have used my One for over a year and recorded my first video last week.
It was a stand-up comedian, so it was a hard motive.
Everything around the man on stage was black and with a bright spotlight on the performer.
Started recording with standard setting, and it was hard to find focus when everthing was black or superbright.
Then I switched to HDR recording and got a lot better video with stable focus, with the downside that the black background was more grey. But what the heck, it was better and I can see my motive
What impressed med most was the audio quality of the recordings, really awesome!
Hope this helps you somehow.
Guys, g7 is a great phone but cameras are not great. They lack in details, blurry on zoom, and does not compete with other flagships.
Please provide your experience with v40 cameras. I noticed that v40 already received to major updates for camera before release... Please compare... Thanks

The controls aren't highly intuitive, but discoverable with use and practice. Picture quality seems just fine. Loads of techy features, not everyone may use all of them.

Boss, your answer is more technical thn the phone
Is quality of main sensor compete the rivel note 9
Pictures are comparably. They both have their strengths. LG has more punchy colors as opposed to the note 9
So my buddy has told me he will sell me his moto x4 for 90 bucks. There's nothing wrong with it and I checked the specs from here and gsmarena but I still want user input. Is this a good buy? If so I'll be coming a Moto g6 play and if you have seen there's not alot of development for that device and it doesn't seem there be in the near future

Camera is only with google camera king, stock cam has a terrible noise reduction algorithm haha
Hardware is great. Software is bad. It doesn't support call recording in Android pie OS, even with 3rd Application. For that you need rooting.
Thanks Guyd lol I had planned on using a Google camera apk anyway I hate Moto stock cam and I don't care about call recording tbh as long as I'm able to run pubg. And I don't so much about the software since there is clearly way more Dev support here than For my g6 play. I'll be part of the x4 family Wednesday ? screw this g6 play lmao
Hi all,
For anyone contemplating or curious regarding how the Galaxy S10 stacks up against the OnePlus 7 Pro in terms of camera quality, here is a camera comparison featuring Google Tech Corners campus in Sunnyvale, CA! There is a new OTA out addressing camera quality from OnePlus which I will probably make a new video on by the end of the week. Thank you!
