Bokeh effect with frontal camera - Moto G5S Plus Questions & Answers

Hey guys, earlier this day I've saw an article that said that g6 family, x4 and z2 power will be receiving an update on Moto camera to add the bokeh effect with frontal sensor, and again leaving g5s+ (the best Moto in my opinion) without improvements. And then i was wondering if there is a photo app (like gcamera) that can do bokeh effect with g5s+ frontal camera. Do you guys know any app?

[Q] Google Camera vs Camera FV-5

Sorry for yet another camera app battle but so far, I haven't seen the two being compared against each other.
Since I found the Twisty Switch Xposed module, I've wanted to change the camera app into one of these two apps.
My MAIN uses for the camera are just to take pictures of documents [therefore I need the text to be seen clearly] and to take pictures of everyday things [in bright lighting]. I'm also looking to see which does better in taking pictures in yellow lighting [light isn't white bright, but it isn't dark either]. So, which better suits my needs.
Why don't you use both and see for yourself? Obviously FV-5 is going to give you more control.
I can't use FV-5 because whenever I change the ISO mode to lower value the images coming through the viewfinder get very poor framerates to become unusable. It's not a problem of the app or a specific device, both my Moto X have it regardless of apps used, it's just something to do with the Moto X camera.

[Q] HDR+ mode in Google Camera

Hi,
I'm currently trying to decide between the Nexus 6 (too big!!!) and the Moto X (2014). One of the deciding factors is the camera. I love the HDR+ mode the Nexus 5 offers and that is going to get even better with Android 5. Sadly, I haven't seen any other device yet, that activates this option in Google Camera.
The Galaxy S4 GPE offers HDR, but without the "+". It still takes great shots though,
So, if you insstall Google Camera on the New Moto X, what kind of HDR mode do you get, and how well does it work?
Thanks!
installing the Google Camera on your Moto X unfortunately only gives you the standard HDR mode and not HDR+ like in the nexus devices.
What does the + do/add?

Here's a quote from phone arena
"Nexus 5 smartphone. The handset features the so-called HDR+ mode – a smarter HDR mode that can be used for capturing*"vivid photos by day and sharper photos by night".*When enabled, it can improve not only scenes containing both bright and dark sections, but also low-light images and shots with moving objects in them. Again, the software takes a rapid burst of photos and uses advanced algorithms to increase the signal-to-noise ratio of the combined image. If movement is detected, HDR+ takes only the sharpest single shot for that area, thus reducing motion blur."
Sounds cool.

Google camera port for moto x4

Is it just me, or does the Google camera port for Moto x4 doesn't support portrait mode for back camera (despite having dual rear cameras)?

The GCam portrait mode doesn't require a dual camera setup, the software do the cut and blur the background.
I'm using Arnova Pixel2Mod 8.1 and works as intended, but just to clarify, portrait mode only works with faces, if you're trying to do that with an object, use the Lens Blur mode.

Which port?
If you're using official rom for the X4 use this port https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/.../GCam_5.3.015-Pixel3Mod-Arnova8G2-v4Beta4.apk

There's no Google camera port for the X4, in any variant.
There are hundreds of Google camera ports, many of which function in limited or mostly limited capacity on the X4, though. Portrait mode works fine with the rear camera, as well as the front camera.
These portrait shots were taken with a Google camera port on my X4. (rear cam)

Ah, but the proximity of the subject has to be more here, than in the stock camera app

Not necessarily; I don't share more personal portraits (of people) but it takes portraits well at distance, in fact, Google is on record with its philosophy of almost forcing more distance with its default 1.5x zoom in portrait mode.
I'll look at the exif/metadata and check to see what the farthest distance in my portrait shots are. Several feet, at least, in some.

You are mistaken. Unless the subject is really close to the camera and HDR is on, the portrait mode doesn't really make a difference. I tried it on a variety on subject at various distances, and the result was more or less the same.

I'm not mistaken.
You don't know what camera port/version I used - that's number one. Number two, you don't have my camera samples, number three, you don't have my exif data.
I get two pictures, one with the entire scene in focus, and another with a different focal plane. And yes, at distance. Whether or not the ports and environments you work with can reproduce those outcomes is another story. But I'm not mistaken about anything.
Max focal distance for the portrait shots I have is around 8 feet. It may go farther, it may not. That's just a quick check.

If it works, you can use, I'm using LineageOS and it's working very well.
When I was using the official rom, I was unable to use that mod, crashed everytime I opened.

[Request] Can someone port Motorola Moto E5 Plus camera to Redmi 4X?

Hi all,
I've seen what the E5 Plus can do:
12MP, f/2.0 aperture, 1.25um big pixels, LED flash, PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus), Laser Autofocus, HDR, Panorama, Manual Mode, Burst Shot, Best Shot, QR code/Barcode Scanner, Slo-motion mode, Video Stabilization, 1080p video at 30fps
Seems like our Redmi 4X is capable of the above too. Can we get them?
try this https://windroidwiz.wordpress.com/2017/08/23/download-moto-z2-play-camera-port-for-all-phones/
i have installed this app on my Redmi 4X MIUI 10 Global beta 8.8.16 but since i haven't enabled the camera api due to Mi camera stops working. pro mode were missing, slow motion was not working, has 4k 30fps, has panorama mode, qr code also missing but again this features might will get working if camera2api. i am not sure if moto camera app requires camera2api to avail this functions. this port is from 2017.

How can you be so Dumb. How can you even expect to get these features. Those are hardware features and not software feature which you will get by installing a camera app you fool.

There's a possibility though. Chipset is the same, camera specs looks the same on paper. It's good to explore the possibility than getting a new phone. Why not do something useful for everyone than words like those?

Front camera, group photo, out of focus issue.

Hey everyone!
So for the longest of time, I already have this problem when I am using the front camera to take a group photo, and the camera always focus on the person closest (holding) the camera. Even with the face detection option ON, it won't capture the rest of my friends. Even if I manually tap on the center of the screen (to focus behind).
Do you guys face this issue too?
Any solutions?
I tried Open Camera app but it doesn't have the wide angle feature (like the default S10 camera) have for front camera. (Unless I am not seeing the option).
Thanks!
Bump Hoping for reply still.
