Hi! So I decided to unlock my bootloader, root my Xiaomi mi A2, enable camera2Api and install Gcam (tried multiple versions of Gcams, still trying to figure out which one is the best for my phone) but each one shows a 12mpx resolution on the back and 5 on the front. I installed a module for Portrait mode and that option works fine now. But is the resolution issue commun for Gcams? (12 mpx on the back and 5 on the front) And also, each time I tried to record in 4k, all the versions of gcam stop running. I did not manage to find a specific module for that, is there anything I can do to fix that?
Thanks in advance! :good:
I had same problem as You, so I decided to return everything to stock version.
Simply, it's a problem with all version fo Gcam.

my problem not solved.
its very hard.
if i switch to front camera (stock camera), its not switch to front camera. it only switch to secondary rear camera.
why?
and, i try with another apps, my front camera is missing.
I've tried all ways, Flasing with stock oreo, pie, custom rom experience, MIUI (convert to mi 6x) BUT ITS NOT WORKING
Clear data, factory reset, and another way, I tried it and NOT WORKING
There is other member tell me "replace front camera module" and i try to buy it and waiting for 2 week. waiting for the front camera module for 2 weeks and after i replace front camera module, ITS NOT WORKING TOO.
WHY?
the age of my mi A2 was not yet 1 month old but it was crash.
Same issue I'm facing, my phone is also 2 weeks old yet.
Same problem in mipad4

I have the same problem ..any solution???
Hi,
I have an issue with installing a working gcam on my Mi A2.
I have enabled Camera2api level 3 using a tutorial from this forum and at first everything seemed great.
After that i installed arnova's gcam port (MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova_TlnNeun_V1.3.030119.0645) and it worked great, next morning when i tried to use it it would only take green photos.
I have tried clearing cache and storage, reinstalling the app and the same problem persists.
Afterwards i have tried two other ports Tolyan and BSG for MI 8 if I'm not mistaken and nothing changes, all of the ports works fine for a couple of hours and after that every photo i take is green.
If anyone knows what can I try to fix this it would be very helpful.
Thank you.
Got this too, i installed other version
Could you let me know which one?

try to reset base setting. probably you have problem with config setting otherwise use Pixel 3XL for back camera and Nexus 6P for front camera model. Default mode for config is Pixel2018 ZslR HDR+

Anyone have make Gcam mod for Nokia 4.2? I've try installed,..it is can but always crash and error..maybe some dev cam made port to Nokia 4.2?
Maybe you can try to use the Nokia 6.1plus version. I use this version, everything working normally, but night sight still can't be used. So you can install the version without night sight.

Can you share the link for that camera, thanks in advance!!
Best Gcam for my Nokia 4.2:
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog1101/
works well, standard camera, portrait, night mode, video, and all this with the front camera.
long HDR + processing times, I advise you to wait that finish First photo's processing, and then take the next one.
I recently buy this Xiaomi 11T Pro, but encounter an issue with the camera. When I switch to Portrait mode while using the rear camera, the camera would freeze at the blurry scene when I first switch. I can switch to other camera mode, but cannot press switch to front or view previous image.
Front camera Portrait mode is working normally. Is there anyone encountering the same issue, and have you find a fix yet ? I have tried factory reset to no avail.

I have no problem here, using Global 12.5.7, if you have alr factory resetted without fixing it, you can try to test the camera to know whether if it's hardware issue or not.
To do this go to Settings -> About phone -> All specs, scroll down to Kernel version and tap it multiple times until an app called CIT opened, the keep scrolling down until you see all the camera modules, they should be rear, front, macro and ultra camera with the number 25, 26, 27, 29 respectively. You can then test them one by one to know if it's still working or not.

I have tried following your instructions and able to test the first three modules successfully. But for Ultra camera, it cannot start taking picture. Was you able to test ultra camera, or is it just me?

Funny, all modules show up for me, the preview works perfectly but failed to take pictures. May be you can try some 3rd party apps like Aida64 to see if the camera still works.
Which version are you on? Global or other?
Maybe see, if theres an newer version camera apk online from the one in your phone. Maybe that could fix the issue.
I don't know how but the issue is gone for now. I noticed that the problem is with the ultra-wide camera, which affect the 0.6x zoom, portrait mode, and the Ultra-wide lens. I have done one more factory reset, then when it freeze, I switch out and back to the camera, which seem to solve the issue. Now it work normally, and I can also test Ultra camera in CIT.
Has anyone noticed horrible stabilization for the 5x sensor with the new camera app that comes with the 13 update? Used to be able to turn the digital stabilization on or off (when on it caused some weird jitter, but at least the footage was usable and stable). Now, there is no option and the video shot through it is always extremely unstable even when sitting down holding the phone with both hands while remaining as still as possible to the point of beeing useless. Specially at 15x zoom (sample footage included). Anyone else got this issue?
Also noticed that they added an option for HDR10+ shooting and automatic low light framerate adjustment that is not switchable. Anyone know why?
EDIT - Here is the sample footage:
for some reason I got multiple errors uploading video attachments to this forum...
Firstly, I have non of the issues you have mentioned above. I am on MIUI13 SKAMIXM and the app works flawlessly. The only issue I have is video recording gives me only up to x6
Regarding hdr10+ you can turn it on only on 4k and 8k. Not below that.
Okay now I understand, every zoom I start with gives me multiple zoom options. If I start with X5 I can go up to x6.
Either way, works flawlessly

Ok. You mind uploading a sample video in a reply please? Btw if you switch to 1080p 30fps you get the option to go from .5 all the way to 15x in one slider. If you don't mind try shooting from 1x to 15x.
Edit- I'm on the miui 13 SKAEUXM

Thank you very much. I've installed your camera app and unfortunately the problem persists... the 5x video footage is basically unsusable. I'm afraid that my optical stabilization for this lens is broken and I'll need to return the phone for service, fortunately it's still covered by warranty... This is a huge bummer since they make you format everything on the phone for security reasons.

Hi Mate,
i'd suggest before sending it off for warranty to install GCAM and try it out one more time.
is your ROM official? or is it the BETA version?
Also, I've learned that controlling camera in general is not limited to camera app, also the software of the device control's most of it and the app is just triggering the software to activate and do the algorithm of image processing. it could not be a hardware. (while I agree with you that most likely it is). but i'd try every possible solution before losing device for a few weeks or months if you are unlucky.
Also, note that seems like EU version of MIUI13 rom seems buggy, a few issues have been mentioned here and there that are not in the global version SKAMIXM.
I use miui13 EU ROM and have no issues at all.

Yes I use the official update as provided with the phone updater. I also have a gcam installed and the problem persists there too (sample provided in this reply). I think I've done all the testing required to conclude that there is actually a problem with the stabilization. I'll have to service it unfortunately . Maybe ask for a battery change since it dropped to about 4500mpa over the last few months with all the fast charging and the extremely fast discharging (cough cough). Thank you for your time, I'm really grateful for the tips.

I think I have this here too (I have the SKAEUXM version). Up to 9.5 it doesn't shake, after that it shakes a lot.
