Root chinese version - Xiaomi Mi 8 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I have a chinese version, running global rom with playstore OK and french language under MIUI 10.0.2.0. Bootloader unlock aswell. I want to know if the procedure to root device is the same on chinese phone ? I found this tutorial for now : https://www.theandroidsoul.com/xiaomi-mi-8-root/
Thanks in advance

Yes it's the same.
Keep in mind to not relock the bootloader unless you have the Chinese firmware on Chinese phone.

[Q] how to change EVA-DL00 rom to european rom (to remove chinese from everywhere)??

Hi, I've just bought a brand new p9 from amazon and it was supoused to be 09 eva-L09 but the version it came is DL00. My question is regarding the chinese rom, is there any way to flash an european or american rom to remove all the chinese that the phone doesn't translate? If it is possible, can someone explain or refer me to the guide on how to do it and what rom should I get into the phone?
Thank you veeeeery much and pardon my english, I'm from Argentina !
you can search tutorials on how to debrand Huawei p9, note that you will need to unlock your bootloader and root your device first.

Xiaomi Mi 8 256 GB global ROM

Hi,
I am interested in buying the new awesome Xiaomi Mi 8 Global ROM with 256 GB.
I've read many articles which confirm that there is such version of the smarphone but couldn't find any website which actually sell it. I saw only the 256 GB chinese version.
Is there really a 256 GB Global ROM version?
If not, is there any way to buy the 256 GB chinese version and use it outside of china? and what about the system language and localization is there any chance to put hebrew in it?
Thanks a lot!

There is on global version of the phone just yet. There is only chinese version with unlocked bootloader and global rom. IIRC global have hebrew as an option and if not the xiaomi.eu roms should have. If you really need global rom and locked bootloader I would suggest waiting a bit longer.

Sorry but I don't really understand all that bootloader thing.
What is this bootloader?
What happens if it is locked?
What happens if it is unlocked?
Thanks!

Return Chinese Version and Lock Bootloader

Hi guys,
I have a Chinese Xiaomi Mi 8 with Global Rom and unlocked Bootloader. I would like return to Chinese Rom in english and Re-lock bootloader because I want to use Google Pay, Is it possible or I would brick my device?
Thank you for advance.
Even if you'll install the Chinese firmware and lock bootloader you won't be able to use Google Pay.

U can use Xiaomi eu for Google pay. It works good

Na. It's custom ROM. Don't do that
From what I have read in the different threads or forums is that you can flash a Global rom on your unlocked Chinese Mi8 but you cannot go back and flash and lock by going back to the Chinese rom.
IT WILL BRICK YOUR DEVICE.
Take care and I would recommend you to not to mess around with re-locking the bootloader. It is better to be safe than sorry

Different Models

Hi ! I have a noob question
They had three models of mi 8 the 64/128 & 256Go storage and two various models Global Version & a Chinese Version.
But really they had only one version per models of mi 8 but different Firmware of mi 8 ? Exemple for the 64Go model storage this is the same hardware of mi 8 and only the firmware change ? Chinese version or Global version ?
Thank you

Ok thanks for response.
But I see with link if you use Global phone you can't use miui china version ?
If I unlock my BL and flash Custom Rom Xiaimi.eu based on China miui version Rom !
They had mistake if I make Ota update of Xiaomi.eu Rom ? No risk lock it and brick it ?
Ps : Yes I understand just don't flash the chinese stable or dev Rom and vise versa !!! With Custom Rom no mistake just if you use miflash don't lock.
Thanks.
You can have every custom rom you want.. for example xiaomieu,it doesnt mean something what kind of source it is. You can use xiaomieu based on china rom with your global version smartphone!
Btw xiaomieu doesnt have ota updates you need to flash manually from twrp every time.
