Have a freshly rooted AT&T 5.0.2 s6 using pinpong and wondering what next? Here are a few mods and changes that I've made so far to improve my AT&T S6. (info pulled from various forums and threads, posting things here that are specific to the ATT S6). Have more to add? Post it!
Useful Apps Requiring Root:
Titanium Backup, AdAway (available from Fdroid website), Greenify, Tasker for enablign GPS when opening maps.
Debloater tool (root not required) available in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/debloater-remove-carrier-bloat-t2998294
FlashFire (needed for flashing roms, custom themes, etc): Download Here
Enabling / Adding Hidden Features:
Quite a few features are available to the ATT S6 by modding features.xml using Wanam's CSC Feature Expert. The steps I list below are using that app. You can download it from playstore, and it requires root: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ma.wanam.cscexpert. Below is what i used, but more options are found in this thread, although ATT seems to have many of them already by default: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...uick-guide-enabling-hidden-features-t3087506/
Hide Wifi Notification in Pulldown:
Search configwifi. Click item and delete "ATT"
Enable WiFI Calling: option to enable is under phone settings
Search WifiCall. Click on Item and add: "True"
Enable Call Recording!!: (recordings are found in voice recorder app)
Search configrecord. Click on item and add: "RecordingAllowed"
Mods:
Disable Bootsound:
Go to file folder: System / Media / Audio / UI. Find file "poweron.ogg" and rename it to "poweron.ogg.bak"
Roms:
Scotty's Clean Rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...om-cleanrom-1-0-clean-smooth-stable-t3111330/
Xstreolite Rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s6/general/xtrestolite-rom-att-s6-t3140354
Custom Themes:
Dark Theme (Sweet and does work on ATT): http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...-theme-s6e-t3108155/post60726132#post60726132
Still Working On:
Disable headphone / bluetooth volume warning
Remove AT&T text from upper left statusbar
Thanks for the helpful thread!.. I can finally use the GMD gestures app I'd say thats an essential root app for me.
Any word on the xposed framework for lollipop?
edit: WAIT we can use WIFI calling on ATT???

Yes, it seems to work too. You open the phone app, click on 'More' then Settings and the option is at the bottom. Be sure to reboot after you make any changes in the CSC to activate them. No word yet on Xposed, but it's almost not needed. Almost....
PS- That gestures app is pretty sweet.

Yeah its awesome i deleted lazy swipe because with this app you can pop up launchbars for your favorite apps from anywhere with a gesture
I enabled wifi calling and rebooted, but I don't see any indication that it is enabled. Even tried making a call, and it seemed like it was over cell not wifi.
Did you enable it in the phone app settings? It's check box at the bottom .
Yea, that's where I enabled it... But didn't get anything that showed it was making calls over wifi.
Did yours give you some sort of icon? And can u take a screen shot of it?
I'd love to hide the auto brightness bar and show more notifications on the lock screen.

Not that I'm aware of. ALso, haven't been able to figure out whether the wifi calling actually is going over wifi or not.
Bypass Tether Check
I see that Verizon Mods have enabled tethering through the framework, anyone see these options anywhere. Would love to use tethering on my Unlimited.
I would like to know that too but I have wifi router installed and it works. I also would like to know how to get the download Booster to work I tried doing that shortcut deal through Nova and it keeps on going away
Boot Animation
I didn't create this/ don't own it. I apologize if I am stepping on the creator's toes. I have had it for a while but it works with our s6 and removes the white att boot screen, but keeps the samsung part.
MUST FLASH WITH FLASHFIRE.
Silent power on, charging and wireless charging sounds.
Unrar on PC or on andrioid. Replace files (I use Root Explorer) in system/media/audio/ui, and change permissions. Reboot.
Used a rar file so one doesn't think it flashable!
Change permissions to rw - r - r (just copy the permission setting of any of the other, unchanged sounds in that system/media/audio/ui folder).
This is similar to the mod in the op except it replaces the boot sound with a short, 2 second silent sound. I had problems of other sounds playing instead if I just changed to .bak, hence I made these sound files.
I'd love to hide the auto brightness bar and show more notifications on the lock screen.

Device Settings Menu Guide, Tips & Discussions
Part 4 - Advanced features, Device maintenance, Apps
If you're new to this series or want to see the index, please read the Introductory Post first.
Advanced features > S Pen
This section is exclusive to Note series so you should definitely give some time exploring it.
S Pen remote: Displays availability of the S Pen and its charging level. Configure Pen button actions for each compatible App and master control. I've tweaked it a little bit to make 'Scroll up/down' for Chrome and 'Single press' to 'Skip' while 'Double press' to 'Play/Pause' for Music. You can always tap 'Reset S Pen' in Menu in case you want to get back the default settings.
Unlock with S Pen remote: If enabled, you can unlock your phone with your S Pen in case it was taken out while the device was unlocked. In case you've enabled it, please keep an eye on your S Pen.
Screen off memo: Very useful when enabled. Here you can change the colour from the signature colour to classical white. I like the golden colour that comes with the Ocean Blue. However, this golden colour may seem weird to you when you open S Notes with the white background so you can force display Black text in S Note app itself that keeps the golden colour while writing.
Air view; Direct pen input; Pointer; Shortcuts: Very useful features. Review them. 'Learn about S Pen features' on the bottom or watch this 30-min video.
Floating icon: I don't like any over-the-screen icons so have disabled it. You can always open the Shortcuts menu by tapping the S Pen button while it's near the screen. I've also set 'Do nothing' 'when S Pen is removed'.
Alarm: Works when the screen is off since if it's on, you probably be using the remote feature.
Power saver: Although it's enabled for me, internet says it has negligible battery effects. If disabled, the device won't allow you to use another S Pen if your device's one is inside.
Sound; Vibration: Enabled since I don't like accidents. 'Oper Air command' in 'Removal' also helps in this case.
Advanced features
Accessories: Enable 'Fast wireless charging' here.
Smart stay: Too many ideal conditions required for it to work and may take a lot of battery power. Disabled.
Games: Explore 'Game Launcher' after enabling it from here. You can also hide your games from appearing in the menu while they are categorized by Game Launcher.
One-handed mode: A much-needed feature when you're OTG (on-the-go). I had changed the 'Gesture' to 'Button' after accidentally enabling this mode many times. On Pie, if you hide the navigation bar, you cannot check 'Button' mode anymore. OHM is also a shortcut in my Edge panel that is easily accessible from one hand.
Finger sensor gestures: Open/close notification panel or launch Samsung Pay using the fingerprint sensor. Make this a habit. Looks cool.
Device assistance app: Set to Google. Explore settings for the DAA - it was really cool to see Hindi (India) as an option there. Analyzing on-screen text/images is a very useful feature. Read the guide here and here on how to use Google Assistant like a pro.
Multi window: One of the best features and legacy of Samsung and for Note, it's a must-use one. By default, you can use SSV (Split screen view) by selecting it for the required app in recents. 'Use Recents button' is much faster. 'Pop-up view action' can interfere if you generally drag down the notification panel from near the corners (enabled for me).
Smart capture: Very useful screenshot features that you may need just after capturing one. Enabled.
Palm swipe to capture: I never bothered about it but with Note9, I started using it to save presses on my hardware buttons as well not needing to pick up the device in case I want a screenshot.
Direct call; Smart alert; Easy mute; Swipe to call or send messages: Tradional and useful Samsung features. All enabled.
Dual Messenger: You can use two seperate accounts for compatible apps (WhatsApp, Facebook) and restrict your contacts for the second ones. Suggested in case you have multiple accounts. For more James Bond feel, use 'Secure Folder'.
Panic mode: Can be helpful before you try show your Ninja Skills. However, I have accidently triggered it many times and since sending photos is enabled, it's kinda wierd! Still Enabled.
Direct Share: Helps you save an extra tap while sharing something. Ninja guide here.
Video Enhancer: Helps you flaunt the best screen more. In case you are not the natural-colours kind of, Enabled.
Touch sensitivity: In case you use screen protectors or live in Antarctica (gloves), Enabled. Disabled for me.
Device Care
Info: Add a home screen or edge panel shortcut to it as it's gonna be really useful. Tap 'Optimize Now' once in a while. It includes the virus scanning, memory cleaning, storage cleaning and battery optimization. Read below for more on these.
Battery:
Battery Usage: Do review this once in a while in order to identify culprits. 'Refresh' for real-time monitoring. In ideal case, all of your compatible apps should be set to 'Optimise battery usage'. In case any of them not working fine in the background and you need them to, disable the optimization for the app.
Power saving mode: Try all the modes (MID/MAX) once before you get into the Bear Grylls mode. MID will help you while you're travelling while MAX when you want to extend that last single digit juice. Do you want me share my settings?
App power monitor: When you tap 'Save Power', you manually make the apps 'Sleep'. They may wake themselves up again.
Unmonitored apps; Always sleeping apps: Select the apps you want always/never be able to run in the background.
Menu > Advanced Settings:
Notification settings: Get notified for 'unused apps' for days you specify in 'App power monitor' (disabled), 'Battery-draining apps' (enabled) and 'Unstable apps' (enabled).
App power monitor: Monitors apps to prevent excessive usage. You can 'Put unused apps to sleep' and specify the 'sleep delay' to let the feature automatically sleepify your apps (enabled, 1 day).
Fast cable/wireless charging: Enable or disable fast charging. You can disable 'Fast cable charging' in case you more often charge it overnight.
Performance Mode: Customize profiles for phone's performance (Screen resolution, Video Enhancer, UHQ upscaler, Game Launcher). You can then toggle these modes from the notification panel.
Storage: Love to see 512 GB here but only when it's the denominator. You can clean unnecessary data here by tapping 'Clean' or you can use apps like Files Go or SD Maid. User Data is also categorized so you can review and remove files of different types. 'Storage settings' summarizes device storage and you can tap the items to get to respective apps or apps settings. 'Get more space' helps you to delete Large, Unused, Duplicate and Unnecessary files.
Memory: Tap 'Clean Now' to clear your RAM. Likewise, for battery, these apps may appear here again.
Device Security: The virus scanning is powered by McAfee. Since it's disabled by default, enabling it never hurts.
Apps
All of your apps settings including Usage, Battery, Storage (Clear Data/Cache), Uninstalling and Force stopping, Notifications settings, Permissions, Defaults and Version/App details in store. I use 'Sort by size' with 'Show system apps' to occasionally review the apps taking the most storage. Change your 'Default apps', 'App permissions' and 'Special access' in the Menu. You can set 'set default apps automatically' as well. In 'Set as default', I've disabled 'Open links in app' even if they're not installed since I get annoyed when I have not installed an app because I want to browse on Chrome only (reduce usage of separate apps whenever possible). Read about 'Instant Apps' here (you can use these even without installing them). In case you mess up with the defaults and notifications, tap 'Reset app preferences'.

Sir, 5 separate threads for almost everything you could discuss about the device!
I was also skeptical about this and even started in my mind with writing only one thread. But I wanted these kind of threads to be a contribution of the community not only the original post. The original post is only intended to be a reference post that will grow more with participation. And if this would be the case, I think it would add to the clutter if everyone is going to discuss variety of stuff in single thread. Anyways, need recommendation on this and I can consider consolidation as well.
I wanted to use Fluid Navigation Gesture, but when i tick the box to get rid of the navigation bar, it also remove the software rounding of the corners, making the bottom corners look awfull. I tried a lot of different app and they all have the same problem.
I can hide it by enabling the one finger navigation, but it's pretty annoying because i often hit the fingerprint sensor while swipping up.
And "re-rounding" the corner with an app doesn't work on the lockscreen and on the notification shade, so it's pretty worthless.
Does anyone know a way to fix this ?
Same issue, bothering me a lot.

This sounds like an overlay conflict. Try setting the priority of the of the apps overlay to the lowest or highest rung. Then reboot and see if it works.
In terminal use these commands, each line is a new entry.
su
cmd overlay list
cmd overlay set-priority --user 0 com.overlay.package.name.goes.here lowest
reboot
If that doesn't work, set it at the top. Just change out the word lowest for highest.
su
cmd overlay set-priority --user 0 com.overlay.package.name.goes.here highest
reboot

Thanks for the answer !
I forgot i asked this question here so i never came back to this thread. Oops.
I couldn't find a way to set the priority of the apps overlay.
So i tried the second option in ADB, because i guess that's what you meant by "terminal" ?
In ADB, theres 3 overlay :
com.android.providers.partnerbookmarks
[x] com.android.providers.partnerbookmarksoverlay
com.android.systemui
[x] com.android.systemui.PixelTheme.Android80
com.motorola.android.providers.chromehomepage
[x] com.motorola.android.providers.chromehomepageoverlay
The PixelTheme is a Substratum theme, i only use the Navbar because i hate Oreo stock Navbar.
So i tried to set the other two higher and lower, but after 7 restart nothing change, the corners still look like garbage.
I'm pretty sure i made something wrong, i'm new to this.
Do you know where i went wrong ?
And sorry for the late reply.

I honestly don't think you did anything wrong. If ADB didn't give an error, then it worked. I'm going to download the app and try it myself. I want to see if I can come up with a fix. I normally use Termux on android for a terminal, but ADB should definitely work.

Are you rooted? If not, you need to be in order to use those commands from android. If you are rooted, you're probably using Magisk, and if this is the case, set Magisk to core mode only, then reboot, and try again.
That being said, I did find the source of the problem. You're going to have to message the app developer for this one. After looking at app, I've determined that this property needs to be added to,
/res/values/dimens.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<resources>
<dimen name="rounded_corner_radius">10.0dip</dimen>
<dimen name="rounded_corner_content_padding">4.0dip</dimen>
</resources>
The precise values may be different, but this is what the G6 Play uses to make the corners round. The dev needs to incorporate this property for it to work. Unfortunately, I can't make this change myself and give it to you. If I could, I would. The app has paid features and is licensed, therefore I can't modify and share it without their explicit permission. If the app developer needs to ask me anything, they are free to send me a message. I'd be happy to help them out.

I don't think it's worth it.
Pie, alongside stock navigation gestures are coming soon and i'll probably use these rather than Fluid N.G.
I gonna try to message the app devloppers, but i don't know if they gonna bother doing this for the very few people who have this problem.
Thanks a lot for the help, i wasn't expecting someone to go this deep to help me.

Yeah, no problem. I don't like to give up easily.
I am running A10 on a Pixel 4a, and XPUA 1.27.
I added the mkdirs hook and configured it to turn on/off with the storage permission.
When I run an app that triggers this fif.file.mkdirs restriction notification, it will still show that notification even if I unchecked "Notify on Restriction".
Am I doing something wrong?

By default the File.mkdirs hook ( by fif_ ) should only be set to 'enabled' and show up in logs of xprivacylua pro. It will only show up as a notification if there a error in applying the hook ( which can be turn off ). If it happens again check in xprivacylua and look at the app involved if it has a circle with ! in it, next to the hook category, it usually means it has failed to apply that hook.
No circle at all - just a "fif.file.mkdirs Restriction" notification with "Notify on Restriction" off for this particular app.
Could it be a bug where the "Notify on Restriction" setting doesnt work properly for add-on hooks?

Could you post a screenshot of the notification.
I have test on two devices and all seen fine for me. On one device (Samsung S9) i get a notification "error" for stock file explorer whether notifications are on or off.
Tap on the notification it should take your to the app, it will show time restricted or error message ( cirlce with ! in it )
If your on 1.27 try updating to 1.30.
Also what app are you try to restrict. I don't have a Pixel 4a but if its a 3rd party app i could test it on my phone.
Will have to ask have you done any modification to the actually hook itself.
Thank you for your responses Just give me a little time to get back to you on these questions - I just spent the weekend switching over to the pixel 4a and fixing all the gotchas. So I have to catch up on regular work first, then get back to this issue.
Android Auto - XLauncher Unlocked v2.0.1
Custom Android Auto launcher, unleash your AA app, unlock more features!
- Source code
- Documentation
- Releases
- XDA Thread
Features
NameDescriptionRoot requiredXposed requiredDefaultSet the next used launch option as defaultClassicLaunch the Android Auto settings, with the classic/stable styleMaterial3Launch the Android Auto settings, with the hidden/experimental Material3 styleDebugLaunch various hidden Android Auto debug screensXposed ModuleUnlock more 3th party Android Auto apps! (e.g. Fermata, OsmAnd, S2A, ...)
Description
XLauncher Unlocked is a separate app, to unlock more features in your Android Auto app.
It can launch existing / hidden Android Auto screens with root / ADB commands.
Classic can be launched without root.
If using the Xposed module,
then it will also hook into an existing Android Auto function,
to run some additional code behind it,
to make some of the "installed as Google Play" checks always come back as valid,
which does not modify the AA app itself.
Due to the nature of the implementation of the features,
you should not have to be afraid of "having to wipe AA data to test".
Because no AA data is touched / no AA files are edited in a persistent way.
Default "launch option"
The "Set the next used launch option as default" check-mark can be used to
automatically launch the "launch option" behind the button you click after checking the check-mark.
After a default "launch option" is configured, the next times you open XLauncher Unlocked,
it will automatically open that "launch option" for you.
This works for every "launch option" (Classic, Material3, Debug options),
and can easily be re-configured by selecting another "launch option" with the check-mark still configured.
Clearing/resetting the usage of the default "launch option" is as easy as un-checking the check-mark
Credits
Credits for the hooks from Fermata by @AndreyPavlenko!
New v2.0 release is out which added a bunch of launcher functions!
You can download it from GitHub: https://github.com/Rikj000/Android-Auto-XLauncher-Unlocked/releases/tag/v2.0
Thank you. Interesting app, I will have to play and investigate
I use PlayStore and Play Protect did not let me to install.
I could have to disable Play Protect but I repackaged your app and installed pretending it as it was installed by PlayStore (screenshot).
Now it runs ok and Play protect does not complain
I have just an observation about the main screen. Buttons don't fit to my display (probably since I use enlarged text) and there is no way to scroll and to read the cut-off part on the right side.
Screenshot attached
The other Material screens I tried were ok
Thank you for the feedback @zgfg
Just reworked the installation instructions,
now pointing users to KingInstaller to install the app.
I'll try to figure out a fix to make the UI display correctly on enlarged screens.
However, scrolling up/down appears to work when I enlarge my screen

Classic launches AA with the 'classic' design, Material3 with the Material 3 design - screenshots
I suppose Default can make Material to become default style for the future launches (not necessarily from this launcher) but I don't want to wipe AA data to test

and can easily be re-configured by selecting another "launch option" with the checkmark still configured.
Clearing/resetting the usage of the default "launch option" is as easy as un-checking the checkmark

I cannot scroll left/right to read the cut-off text (yellow boxed on the screenshot), like Trouble..., Feedback repo ..

I know, you've reported this earlier, v2.0 is not optimized to handle screen enlargement.
Work Around - GUI cropped on enlarged screens
To make the GUI display correctly, please open your Settings app and go to:
Display => Display size and text => Display size => Reduce the size by a few clicks.
Restore the Display size again once you're done playing with XLauncher Unlocked
and once you have a default "launch option" configured.

Thank you very much for the screenshots.
I thought the app will change the Android Auto view in the car. But the app changes the Android Auto phone app. Thank you very much for the clarification.
Maybe I missed in the menus... Is it possible to have the option to switch on/off CoolWalk view in the car
It is possible by AA AIO Tweaker but I don't know is it just some setting for AA or AIO Tweaker has to tweak the AA db
New v2.0.1 release is out which fixed the non-scroll-able Debug "launch options" section on enlarged screens!
You can download it from GitHub: https://github.com/Rikj000/Android-Auto-XLauncher-Unlocked/releases/tag/v2.0.1

It's not possible with AAXLU (Android Auto XLauncher Unlocked),
but afaik it should be as simple as renaming following file at
/data/data/com.google.android.projection.gearhead/files/phenotype/shared/
- From: com.google.android.projection.gearhead.pb
- To: com.google.android.projection.gearhead.pb.bak (Or smth similar, al long as the original "doesn't exist")
Then close Android Auto / reboot.
That file is at least what was required to make CoolWalk / TaskBar-Widgets work / appear on MicroG.

Thanks a million for this app/ Xposed module. All I needed was to make "unauthorized apps" to work, and until recently, the only way to do that was cumbersome phenotype.db edits with triggers (battery drain!) and wiping AA data.
Working perfectly for me, count me in for a follower/ tester/ anything I can do to help!
News/update, only for MicroG users:
aaxlu (v2.0.1) now comes pre-included with aa4mg (v0.6)
If you manually installed aaxlu before,
then please uninstall aaxlu, before you install aa4mg v0.6.

I think I must be missing something. I have root and the lsposed module installed etc. I have Screen2Auto installed but the app isn't visible in Android Auto. What are the steps to get third party apps to work? Thanks
Edit: more info. Have magisk, zygisk and lsposed module activated

S2A is by far the most restricted app.
I've posted all restrictions/by-passes which are within my knowledge in the S2A thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...r-root-devices.4062787/page-147#post-88392893
With those steps I've been able to get S2A showing up reliably.
Maybe I've missed something but what is the purpose of this app, other than to change the look of AA settings? What other 'hidden' features does it show, other than to be found in Developer settings? Thanks.
