Hi all! There is a small problem in this device...
In stock camera lag. In low light the preview of the camera there is a drop in fps, but once you start recording, no lag, no fps.
And also this problem is seen in the application Instagram, but there after the start of the video recording fps is also small, the same lags. To shoot in instagram direct is impossible.
Firmware stock Oreo.
Anyone had this problem?
This camera is only a oka camera not like s series.

I noticed that video recording is darker than pictures..in a video recording at night I can barely see the faces of people but I can see them if i take a picture without flash..I never had any similar problem with all my previous android devices(htc,xperia)..Any way to fix it?

RAZR i's camera is good only with good light. I mean, almost with all smartphone this happens.
But try increasing video exposure.

I am not a rich boy that can buy a new smartphone whether I want..I bought razr 20 days ago..and I am happy with the picture light(without flash) but video is more dark and that's not happening on other smartphones.
Did you already try rising the exposure level while recording?

I just tested my camera and can confirm your problem. Recording videos (under not-so-bright conditions) is darker than capturing photos in the same environment.
In photo mode, the brightness (I guess the ISO sensitivity) is auto adjusted, but in video mode it's fixed and also can't be changed manually.
Very strange :/ I don't own my phone that long, so I didn't notice it before.
Maybe another camera app from the play store could add that brightness adjustment for video recording. Googles android 4.3 camera app doesn't do any better than the motorola one.

Hello people! I'm trying to record video with my new OP3T, but when I watch the recording, the video frame size (or field of view I suppose) is smaller than what it looks like when I'm shooting. I mean the video resolution is still 1920x1080, but things at the edges of the screen are now out of view. I'm using 1920x1080 @30 FPS, stock camera app, Android 7.0. Same thing happens with other resolutions and FPS settings, and with OpenCamera app for example. But it does not happen when taking pictures, and even when I take a static shot WHILE shooting video, that picture comes out fine.
Is this a known issue? How could I solve this? Is there any modification that could help?

Seems to be a known issue. Watch this video (pay attention at 3:30): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFC9OB85Tpk&t
I don't know if this can be solved as i received my 3T yesterday and haven't had a chance to use the camera yet.

It seems so, yeah. Do you know if this sort of cropping happens during shooting or is it a separate process that's done afterwards? I figured this might be solvable somehow, since you do see the whole picture while you're recording. So it's not a physical limitation of the camera lens or anything.

Noticed that OpenCamera has a function to enable Camera2 API, which fixed the cropping! Also I found that on stock camera app, recording on 4K UHD (3840x2160) doesn't crop the video frame. But it limits to 10 minutes per shot (also workable on OpenCamera due to its restart recording function.)
It's the electronic image stabilisation. It needs to zoom in a little bit to stabilize the video. That's why the 4k isn't cropped, because in 4k, there is only OIS, and not EIS.

Exactly what I thought was the cause of it, thanks for clearing this up ??
Is there any way to disable stabilisation? Different camera app, some mod or something? Even OpenCamera doesn't specifically have a setting for that, but I guess Camera2 API doesn't support EIS or something, which feels like a crutch "solution" at best.

Scan build.prop see if there is some line related to ois or eis.
Hi
My camera record slow motion video but when recording was done and when i want set slow motion speed the setting button not working.
Is there any guide for this?
Thank you everyone
#edit# i have this problem with all video files! Setting button has no functionality!! #
I think it's camera bug or 'slow motion' doesn't support some video formats. In some firmwares there were that problems. You can flash another firmware or install other camera app that supports slow motion.

Thank you for your answer
I want to know is every one phones same as me or not?
please some huawei p10 owners tell about their slow motion mode.
can you change slow motion speed or not ?
I had a similar problem but managed to find the solution. When I got my phone, I uninstalled/blocked all of the bloatware. Amongst these programs was also the Videos application, which I blocked. It appeared that this app was needed to edit the videos. Now that I have it unblocked everything is working fine again.
The slow motion and sometimes video recordings are unpredictable as for performance. I think the SLO-MO is bugus. Never worked for me, only intermittent..
Which video app do you mean ? by title and if I uninstall will the camera app still work. I will not be editing in my phone. I have fabulous slomo at hoghest frame rate but the other 2 speeds do not work. If I remove will ithey now work ? Also slo mo ar highest speed have no control over film captured action duration . Thought it would continue recording slomo till I pressed stop ?
Hope for answers for my P20 Pro
thanks
Hi everyone,
I've faced an issue about camera on my device. While recording a video inside of instagram camera at night, I see a lot of freezing and low fps. There is no such a thing in stock camera app. What is this? Why it's lagging? Does anybody know the cause and solution?
Instagram's camera is pure crap. Use your normal Nokia or Google camera and upload the video.
Is anyone facing problems with Stories videos? Whenever I try to upload a video, from my gallery, the video lags SO MUCH...
And if I try to record a video directly in Instagram app, the video lags EVEN MORE.
The experience with this social network, in a whole, is a little bit crappy, with the Mi A2...
It's so sad, because I really love this phone, specially the camera.
Well, is anyone facing the same problem? Is there any fix?
Thanks in advance! <3
Same problem, only with GBintsa stories work fine
Same problem, but only video story.
I also have this issue and always had it with every Android smartphone I ever owned. I investigated a bit on the internet and read somewhere that Instagram handles the Android camera API in a ****ty way. I'm no expert but seemingly the difference is that iPhone always uses the same API or just some different version because there are not many models on Android however there are probably more than 1000 different camera APIs because there is a much bigger variety of models. In short: Instagram on Android is not very well optimized.
I had the same issue with my MI A2 i fixed it buy installing a previous version of the instagram app I had the go like 10 vesrion before to get it right though and i lost the gif feature in messages but let's hope the update wont have the same problem.
Instagram beta works fine for me
Edit: NO IT'S NOT!!
Also recording from stock camera app in 1080p 60fps and then posting as story is fine
I also had this kind of issue, which is also present in older device like Redmi Note 4 in MIUI. I don't know what make its bugged tho

You have to think that you don't have an iphone, and you don't record smooth video on instagram app. Record on camera app and share it on your story.
Also photos you sent on instagram are in very tiny resolution (dm)

Yes I know...
I think this is a decoder related thing.. because screenshots look bad, but photos taken from camera looks good. Any video other than 1080p 60 fps from stock camera looks stuttering; but it also has very bad sound quality... That's really fuktup xiaomi..
sound program

The problem with the sound program will solve Cinema FV-5.
Go to the sound settings and put a tick on the Disable Audio Automatic gain Control (AGC). The sound starts being processed by the application's algorithms.

Instagram stories are smooth on my mi a2 running android P with the latest instagram update. Last time i was on android 8.1, the latest version of instagram has the choppy stories problem. Try updating to android P.
It's been months and still my stories are 15 fps.... what a joke...
This crap needs to get fixed. No matter which account I the video is choppy/laggy. If i shoot video inside the app the review looks good. once it uploads it's laggy. If I save the video to my phone... it's choppy. If i have a video already on my phone and I upload it to stories to the normal feed... it's choppy AF.
I'm on 8.1 oreo with RAW enabled. This suuuucks
Can someone confirm that the videos are better or smoother in Android P?

YESS this also happened to me, im using redmi note 5 rn and the current rom is in miui 10 global stable
The solution is to install the older version of instagram. I'm from Brazil and I found this solution, if you want to solve it and see everything fast again use this version here: 51.0.0.20.85
Search google to download ...
Do not upgrade to the newer version, if it does not come back all over again.
Guys! I found the solution!! Try to use the
H.265/HEVC codec.
