Did anyone facing a problem with PDAnet Wifi Direct Hotspot on latest oos? My hotspot keep disconnect after around 10-20minutes. Sometime even less than that. Need to turn on the hotspot again and again. Try to change to another kernel but still the same. No problem with USB tether anyway.
This problem only happen on OOS only but not on custom rom.

I'm using my Galaxy S i9000 to tether internet to my desktop. It works fine until the screen turns off. After the screen turns off, the connection becomes laggy, skype etc disconnects constantly, speedtest shows ping of 300-500 to nearest server (10-20 by default). I hope someone could help me out here. What to do, what is the problem, how do I fix this?
This happens on Cyanogenmod, I've tried 7.1 stable, nightly and CM9 ICS builds, also on Onecosmics ICS. Wifi Sleep policy set to always on. Stock ROMs working fine.
Thanks
I never experience this bug on CM7.1. Are you using Juicedefender or that kind of app, maybe they can kill the data connection?
not using anything, all of them were clean and freshly installed ROMs.
Have you tried to set sceen timeout to "off"?
Does it work then?
I didn't experience that bug either tho..
I've tried to set timeout to 30min, and if I not turn it off manually, the connection is working fine for the 30 min, after the screen shuts down, it becomes laggy as hell.
Should I try setting it to off, and if yes, how do I do that?
Also, I'm not sure if it's a tethering issue and not a Wifi one. Can't think of a way to test it without tethering. Any ideas?
Have you tested any tethering apps from market? Like Barnacle Wifi tether.
Have you tested USB tether? There are apps for that on the market also if CM's own usb tethering doesn't work.
Just now I flashed CM7.1 stable just to try out different usb tethering apps. Nothing works, everything is the same. I've tried easytether, quick usb and PdaNet. PdaNet came with some windows drivers for the phone which were different from what I've had before. I've tried to install those, no change. I should probably test wifi tethering just to see if it works.
I tested to wifi tether my 3g connection, everything works fine screen lock on and off. Tried to usb tether my home wifi connection to another computer, had the same problem. Any more suggestions? Thanks in advance

Yes I have a Wifi at my house. Also I have an old desktop, which doesn't have wifi. I'm trying to share my internet connection through my phone by wifi to my desktop. I connect to home wifi with my phone and tether the connection to the desktop.

apparently it's a known issue...
Hi folks
Since I updated to JellyBean (JellyMod currently) I have an issue with my wifi connection.
It shows connected but i cant transfer any data (every app fails to establish a connection) until I turn off the wifi and turn it on again. then it ill work for some time and fails again after a not defined period of time.
I found a lot of threads regarding similiar problems but I did not find a solution yet (and for me having a rooted phone installing an app that that runs in background like wifi fixer is a workaround, not a fix
I already did a complete factory reset and fresh install of jellymod.
My router at home is a netgear wndr3700 with the latest dd-wrt. all my other devices work great.
I set the wifi of my i9070 to always on. also i installed auto wifi for location based wifi on/off-profiles.
all of this worked with gingerbread, never had problems...
any idea? seems like a lot of galaxy phones and even tabs are affected...
Thanks in advance!
Hello,
I have been trying to get WiFi Tether Root working on my HTC One but it doesn't seem to want to work. I have watched the video for it and the HTC One for Sprint and the settings he used don't work for me. He did try to support me in the Youtube comments but nothing seemed to work. I did find a WiFi tether app that does work but the phone gets so hot it eventually shuts the WiFi hotspot off. That app is WiFi Tether Router. I have also tried FoxFi and PDANet+ neither seem to work.
Does anyone know how to get WiFi Tether Root working on the HTC One with laptops and Android tablets? Below is the troubleshooting I have already done.
I have the current version of WiFi Tether Root - TrevE Mod
I have tried Device Profiles: Auto, Generic, Generic ICS/JB (wlan0), Generic ICS/JB (wlan1), and others
Enable WiFi Encryption is off
WiFi-driver reload is turned on
With any of these settings the WiFi hotspot turns on, the download and upload sections of the application show no data flowing through or very little. Normally stopping at around 24 Kb download and 124 Kb upload.
Does anyone has a working configuration for this app? Does anyone know of a rom that has the native WiFi hotspot app service check disabled? Or a WiFi Tethering app that works without overheating the phone?
I also tried the fix described in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2266268
Turned on MMS clamping and Routing fix. Still no data going through.
I have the exact same problem as OP. Pretty frustrating. I figure I'm doing something wrong, but I don't know what it is or how to fix it. I haven't tried the other tether apps. If you fix it, please post here with your settings and hopefully it will work for me.
Try and install a custom Rom the stock Rom might have disabled WiFi tethering via 3rd party apps
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
Try this...HERE it worked for me.
Hi, I'm wondering if anyone else if having the following problem:
Ever since updating to Lollipop, my Wifi Networks will not Auto-connect any more. I'll connect to a Wifi network, but then if I leave the area and come back later, my phone will try to connect, eventually give up and I end up with "Disabled" on that Wifi network. This happens on all three of my Wifi networks (Home, Work and School) (802.11ac/802.11n, WPA2/802.1x EAP, 5.0GHz/2.4GHz) and both Lollipop firmwares I've tried (23.1.A.0.726 US, 23.1.A.0.690 US). I can manually connect afterwards by going to the Wifi settings and choosing the appropriate network and connecting. This happens on locked and unlocked bootloader, stock kernel, AndroPlus v2 and AndroPlus v50, Xposed and no Xposed. This does not happen on Stock KK, rEctifY or CM12 (although I had some issues with some of the CM12 nightlies with 802.1x EAP + MSCHAPv2).
Any ideas on how to diagnose/fix?
I have this happen a lot on my shield tablet. On z3c too, but yo less extent. Dont knos what to do

I have the same issue on my Xperia Z1 now that it has received lollipop as well. This is about the only google result I've found for the same behavior though.

Yeah I wasn't really able to find anything on Google either. Glad that Google's link y'all to my thread though .
Well, I am facing the same issue. I noticed that this only happens when my data is also ON. ( then my Z3 switches from Wifi to DATA)
If I disable data usage then the phone doesnt shut down the wifi.
Well I'm trying this:
http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/87907/how-can-i-stop-lollipop-ignoring-my-wifi-network
It's simple. In the terminal (requires root-make sure you do a SU prior to the below command), or in adb shell, issue the command:
settings put global captive_portal_detection_enabled 0
After a reboot it found my WiFi at work and auto connected. Will see if it works when I get home.

Didn't work.
I check this in Android source repo and unfortunately this only works for KitKat. I checked the Lollipop code and there is no setting to disable Captative Portal.
I have just read someone had success using a third party app called Wifi Switcher.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.l6n.wifiswitcher
Im going to try it see if it helps.
So having used Wifi Switcher for a day I have had no problems with auto connecting to saved networks. The app is not made to solve the issues with lollipop and auto connecting to networks, it is made to always connect to the saved network with the strongest signal. However by selecting and connecting to saved networks it seems to override the settings in lollipop that don't allow you to auto connect to certain networks. Not a perfect solution but I am happy with it.
Few days after upgrading to Oxygen stock pie , i cannot connect to any Wifi. Ive tried public wireless points and different AP and the answer is always the same.
Now I have reset my phone to Oxygen Os 5.0.8 and its still the same. It can find Wifi APs but cannot connect to them.
Everything else works including GPS, Bluetooth, Data and even Wifi hotspot
Any suggestions?
I just found a possible hint. If I place the phone very close to the router, almost touching it. The wifi connects.
Possibly an antenna issue? Does anyone know of changing the wifi antenna
