Hi there,
On my TX, I noticed this setting and it sounds handy, but I am not sure that when I have it enabled in the Settings, that I should also have my WiFi (in the "main settings" page) On or Off? It sounds like a stupid question, isn't it? Well, I mean if Location-Based WiFi setting turns WiFi on or off automatically, then does it still turn on even if I have WiFi turned off (and no WiFi logo showing in notifications?
In other words, I can see that Location-Based WiFi is on (in notification bar) whether or not WiFi is on or off. So that does that mean it is independent of the WiFi setting?
Thx in advance
Ken

Good question, I'm intrigued too! I believe the way to do it is to have WiFi on when you activate it, but after that I am not sure. Google search should help, you could also see if there is any info on Sony website.
If you work it out, please share your info here!

After that it really turns your WiFi on and off. Even if you want it out it will turn out on. That's the biggest (and only) flaw in the location based service imo

Hi there,
Sorry but to clarify, do you mean it doesn't matter if your WiFi is on or off or not - the Location-Based setting overrides it? There is no visual indication of whether or not your WiFi has been turned on or not by the Location-Based setting.
Thanks,
Ken

Hi, if you have activated location based WiFi, you will see an icon that location based WiFi is active, and when you are near a location you have activated with location based WiFi you will see the WiFi icon in your taskbar.
The normal WiFi icon still applies. If you are at a location you will see the WiFi icon, if you are not you won't see it.
You can enable WiFi if you are not at a programmed location, but of you are at a programmed location it will always try too keep WiFi on, thus enabling it again if you intentionally turn it off.

Yes, you're right. When I have the Location Wi-Fi icon on the left of the notification bar showing, the other main WiFi icon will switch on or off by itself, depending if you near one of your listed WiFi connections. Awesome.
So in other words, it doesn't matter if you turn WiFi on or off or not, it will turn on/off by itself if you have Location Based WiFi on. I assume the first step I guess, would have been to turn it on, as you have to register one of your WiFi networks anyways.
Thanks again for the posts.
Regards
I use location based WiFi in conjunction with Juice Defender.
That way, JD keeps the WiFi off when my phone is sleeping but it gets turned on when I turn my screen on and am near a home network!
Yesterday I didn't use my phone all day apart from 2 very short phone calls and was at 89% battery life when I went to bed! This is very unusual as I'm always on my phone so really surprised me!
If I helped hit thanks!

Wifi battery consumption it's really nice, less than 1% by hour when phone is sleeping :good:
Hey all, for some reason on my rooted 5.0 gs5 my mobile data will not turn off! It says it's disconnected in the status bar and in the settings network menu and no wifi is not on either.
What do you think the problem can be? My battery is going low soon because of this and I'm not sure how I can disable it if it's clearly disabled in my settings.
Have a Tmobile Note 8 on android oreo, when I use better battery stats, it shows that my wifi is running 100% of the time despite wifi being off and the having "keep wifi on during sleep" setting set to never, any suggestions or anyone having the same issue?

It should be this setting that is enabled.
(It for apps to use wifi in background, even though
you switch the settings "keep wifi on during
sleep"
On device (when wifi is off go to) /Settings /Connections/ Wi-Fi / you will /should see the
following wording...
" To improve location accuracy, turn on Wi-Fi scanning in Improve accuracy settings."
tap on 3 last words
It will take you to page "Improve Accuracy"
swicth wifi scanning off.
See screenshots .( in correct order , view 2nd screenshot , then first screenshot )
Good luck

Thank u so much lets give it a try
So the other day I noticed strange text in the wifi settings menu. This text is visible in both the mini menu accessed through clicking on the name of the currently connected wifi network on the wifi toggle in the notification menu, as well as in the full settings menu. Please see screenshot attached. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Not a huge issue, but a little annoying and I'd love to make this stuff go away.
What is the text you say is strange? The picture shows the network you are connected to, and a list of all the networks detected, so, what is the problem?
I think he means the text after his active wifi connection. Have a look in settings > developer options > wi-if verbose logging, if it’s on turn it off.
That did the trick! No idea how wifi verbose logging got turned on, but everything is back to normal now. Thank you!
It is in developer settings option. You must activated more detailed ssid option.

Thats detailed wifi signal info. You must have turned it on in developer options.
I believe those are the mac address of each WiFi Access Point that is available within the WiFi reception range of your device.
I am using havoc v2.9 in redmi 4x.
Wifi is always auto turned off after screen is turned off.
It is not turned off immediately but it will be after a moment. If I turn on screen, wifi is back.
Therefore, I can not download file if screen is off. It will be stopped.
Anyone know how to keep wifi is always on?
Are you using battery saver?

Sorry for late reply, Yes this i was talking and also the settings which are available in settings > havoc settings > battery savings. under suspended actions there is option to switch to 2G when screen is off (not sure if it is causing the issue) try to turn off that.
i have one issue that when i move out of saved Wi-Fi network and comes back to to same network, the Wi-Fi does not get connected automatically until i wake the device and this happens to all my saved Wi-Fi networks. (Wi-Fi is always turned on my device in day time, it is off in night or when not needed)
it should connect Wi-Fi automatically to saved Wi-Fi network(s) when i have not turned off Wi-Fi from my device before going out of the range of Wi-Fi and later coming back to same Wi-Fi network.
rather than this i do not face any issue with connecting Wi-Fi once i connect to it, even after locking the device or restarting the device.
it only does not get connected automatically when getting out of the range and coming back. it requires to wake the device once and it remains connected until i am in the range. after that i must need to wake device just once to connect.
