I've been looking around and haven't seen anything concrete yet. I'm on 8.1 Miracle Droid and want to upgrade to a 9.0 ROM. I've read something about upgrading my TWRP to a "Treble" variant. Other than upgrading recovery to TWRP Treble, what other prerequisites do I need? Is it a matter of upgrading and then flash the ROM?
Thanks in advance!
Never used that ROM, but some ROMs has OTA updates, either way here's my current unofficial ROM or maybe you'd want Something closer to the Pixel experience (pun intended)

I have the SM-T713 running stock nougat 7.0. The tablet does everything I need it to do just fine. I have flashed Lineage OS 14.1 on a phone that was stuck at 6.0 and it's a nice stable ROM with a lot of features I don't really need. I'm torn between leaving my S2 alone (and hoping it gets 8.0 sometime in the future) and flashing Lineage to get rid of the Samsung bloatware (though it doesn't really interfere with anything I do.) I don't really need the Lineage custom features but it would be nice to have my S2 and my phone (Moto G3) look the same.
I'm soliciting any and all opinions on the flash or not flash dilemma. A valid response would include "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." If anyone has flashed their S2 with Lineage and would like to comment (pro or con), that would be great too.
Just go and look around the thread. read the post if got any problem to the current build. if you satisfied with it then flash away. if not just stay with samsung. Use Nova Launcher or apex and find the same theme for your phone as well. what use flashing a not ready custom rom. And If you find it solid for daily driver why not?
Hi guys
A year and the half or even better just after I purchased my P9 I unlocked bootloader, rooted and went for custom ROM (fRomFuture - NewWorld V4) the only one available and 100% working for P9 at that time as I remember. I got this system since then and I must admit it works pretty well surprisingly without any updates. However I just received work smartphone (Moto G5) which supports dual-sim and realize this is good moment for upgrade my P9. I just took read P9 7.x/8.x ROM's flashing installation descriptions and I feel dizzy....upgrading EMUI, changing partition type from FAT to encrypted ext4..... uff... I already flashed my P9 with custom ROM but back then it seems much much easy with Android 6.
First of all how could I check my firmware version ? With NewWorld ROM I don't see this kind of info.
Second - from what I read I need to update EMUI first from 4.1 to newest ,correct ? Do I need to know my firmware version for that or upgrade could be done (on already flashed system) via Huawei official software ?
I'd like to go for [ROM][8.1][OpenKirin's RROS Oreo v6.0.0 for instance. On Moto G5 I have to install 64bit TWRP and ARM64 Gapps as well - is this the same story with Huawei ?
Make this story short - what step should I take to upgrade my unlocked, rooted P9-EVA with Android 6,TWRP and NewWorld ROM to something newer like even Android 7.x but prefer 8.x because it seems to be working much faster than 7 on my Motorola.
Thanks for help and sorry for lame questions
Flash stock firmware using dload, update to the latest firmware then flash the custom rom you want.
Hi,
I am looking for a custom ROM for my father's Huawei P8 Lite 2017. It has to have OTA Updates and it must not have the well known Huawei-Android-Auto-Issues. Because it is for my father, it should run "out-of-the-box" with the mostly used functions (like camera, google apps etc.). I am going to be the one, who installs the ROM, but he will use it.
I was looking to LineageOS / CyanogenMOD, but nobody writes about the Android-Auto-Issues. These issues are the main reason for the wanted change from stock to custom ROM.
Which one can you recommend?
Greetings from Germany.
There are no official roms for this phone and no ota updates either. As far as I can tell development on nougat roms has stopped or slowed down significantly and I wouldn't expect any more updates. Oreo on the other hand is still in beta and roms are still in early builds so quite a few issues/stuff not working is to be expected. I would suggest flashing lineage 14.1, everything is working and it's been recently updated with april security patch but no more updates are coming.
Edit: CrDroid is official with ota updates
As far as OTA Updates, you have CrDroid, this has just been updated as an official ROM on CrDroid site, you just need to be on EMUI 8 in order to install that ROM
Although, I have no idea if it has any issues with Android Auto, but considering that its a Treble ROM, it might not have
i was browsing through XDA and discovered we got Pie Builds!! after looking into the threads for the 3 roms as of 10/2/18, i read about a lot of people having a multitude of problems with them, from them not booting to fingerprint and encryption problems.
so, are these builds really buggy? should i stick with my oreo rom? whats up with these pie roms?
--edit--
also, for liquidremix, would i install the oreo or the nougat FW base?? whats the difference and does it really matter which version i do?
you just wait until all the bugs are fixed. or you can install it and support the developer by reporting the bugs you face.
everything works fine here, you have to see the version of your bootloader version c2.12 works everything standard, otherwise upgrade your stock rom to the latest oreo to update your bootloader or you can only install rom based on nougat
I'm not on a stock rom, I actually use havocOS I haven't used stock for a while now.. but when it was stock it was 7.1 nougat not Oreo, did Sanders xt1806 finally get the Oreo update?
Hello people as the title states I recently purchased a note 9. I wanted to get the N960F model but when it arrived, to my surprise it was a N9600, which is no problem for me because snapdragon is a good thing, the only downside is the fewer development.
Anyhow I have some. Questions and I would like to hear your recommendations As I'm waiting the 7 days for the OEM unlock to appear.
1. Should I update the system? My n9 came with Android 8.1.0,but I don't know if I update it would be detrimental for the sake of rooting
2. Is this model rootable? I believe so but could you direct me to the thread on that regard.
3. Would you recommended self de bloating with TB or try WETA Rom?
4. What would you suggest: stay on stock + root or WETA Rom?
5. I've seen a lot of pie complains so should I stay on Oreo or give Pie a try? I come from the OnePlus3, I'm a former flashoholic XD and 'til my last moments with the OP3 I had HavocOS which was pie based, thus I'm hesitant to look back to Oreo.
6. This should be 1st but anyway do I need to unlock the bootloader or something special before rooting and installing twrp?
7. I've read that development for the SD version is difficult and that AOSP Roms are stuck because of gpu frequencies and other stuff, but do you think that this version will receive some. More loving from the development department in the future?
Thanks in advance guys and I appreciate your time in reading and for any suggestions you may give.
yes
Just like exynos, the bootloader is unlocked and you can always root it, version does not matter, pie , oreo. and yes you can also run all the GSIs on the phone cause its a Treble enabled device which helps a lot with roms and i think there will be much more roms for n9600 as well as soon as it ages a bit and people start rooting them. You could install WETA ROM or any other ROM / Kernel, Rooting is same as Exynos model except the TWRP has to be for Snapdragon

Thanks mate, in terms of rooting, should I use official magisk of a custom one?
On the twrp thread for the SD variant people mention the official. They just recommend versions 18.1 for Oreo and 19 for pie, is that alright?
And if I update my firmware and software over Ota before rotring and installing twrp, will it be a problem?
