Usb-C to 3.5mm aux not working - Huawei P20 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi,
My car has a 3.5mm aux port which I'd like to connect my p20 pro so that I can listen to Spotify. I've purchased a usb-c to 3.5mm cable but I can't get it working. It just plays all the audio through the phone. I know I can get Bluetooth adapters etc but I don't understand why this solution isn't working.
I don't know if this makes a difference but I'm not using the adapter that came in the box, I'm using a single 3.5mm to usb c cable.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

My phone came with an adapter in the box, which works fine.
My old unbranded one does not work.
I've purchased a genuine Huawei one, and that also works.
The Huawei one I bought was only £4.50 on Amazon.

i bought the razer one of amazon and that works well. i've used one that came off an Essential phone and that also works well...only trouble is that my p20 tells me i'm not using genuine adapters, even when i actually do

Have you tried some 3.5mm headphones, or just the cable to the car? Maybe it's that lead that's not working?

HTC HD2 Car Kit CU/CK S400

Just received my HTC HD2 Car Kit from https://www.expansys-usa.com/d.aspx?i=188277 And it works with my T-Mobile U.S. HD2. It launches Navipanel as soon as you place the phone in it. When you tap "Navigation" it launches TeleNav. It rotates the screen as you change the orientation of the phone. It comes with a high-end suction cup that you need to twist to lock on a smooth flat surface (and it stays locked). It also comes with special smooth adhesive disk that you can mount the main unit to in case you don't have a smooth surface available where you want to put it. It has a car charger that has a USB port and a micro to standard USB cable that connects to the base of the mount. A little bit pricey, but when considering that it meets my needs perfectly, then it is worth it.
It looks like it covers the headphone port, is there any way to get audio out from the unit or phone?
I was told there is such a thing as a micro USB to 3.5mm cable. Connecting this to the base and to your car's aux jack might work. You won't be able to charge the phone though. Unless there was a micro USB Y-splitter....??? Hmm...

Because ironcrotch is right, it does cover the headphone jack. There is however a micro usb at the base of the stand that could be used (acoording to HTC) to output audio. If so, then a micro usb to 3.5 mm cable could be connected to the car kit for the benefit of listening to audio.

It's a micro and not mini usb port on the base? If it was mini, there's an HTC USB charging/audio splitter that has a 3.5mm output and usb charging input in one...

yep that's expensive. I ended up going with CoPilot 8 its only $30 and no subscription fees - It does everything my Garmin can and more. I bought one of those universal windshield mounts and an extra usb cable to keep in my car so I can charge it. Grand total $50.
Since I have a Premier(pioneer) headunit i can plug my usb and 3.5 jack into it and get all my audio through my stereo - at the same time too.
Did anyone tried to use this with an micro-B to Mini-B adapter and the HTC USB/Audio Splitter.
I'm currently playing with the idea of getting an HD2 and I already own that splitter. But being able to use Audio in the carholder is significant for me...
any information on that issue would be very welcome.
cheers

Dear friends,
I'd like to use HD2 to keep my mp3 (songs and audio books) and listen it via car stereo. Does any one know how's AUX output's quality? Can I listen to audio via HD2's USB port (by using car stereo + USB cable + HD2)? What's the best way to connect HD2 to car audio system?
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Anyone found a micro USB > USB + Stereo cable?

The Samsung Dock has a 3.5mm stereo jack on the back so clearly the audio is available via the microUSB.. So, given i would like to charge the Note and play music in the car, has anyone found a cable that has micro USB at one end and splits to USB (for charging) and stereo 3.5mm (for audio)?..
thx!

Nope. I've only found this http://www.shopandroid.com/htc-3-in-1-usb-adapter/5A18A3571.htm
I don't know if it would work with SGN (even though you would still need an adapter from miniusb to microusb).
something along the lines of this?

Using usb-c port as audio output

Hi everyone,
Do you know if it's possible to use the USB port as audio output?
My headphones pin broke and got stuck inside the 3.5 jack. So if I can use the USB I won't have to take it to get repaired.
Thanks

Yes, it works with USB-C -- 3.5 Audio jack adapter (mine is branded "Google").
But the sound is only 16 bits, (DAC is in the cable), it's not as good as the 3.5 jack with PowerAmp...
It works with external USB DAC Amp's, I recommend TempoTec Sonata HD Pro around 45$ & HiBy Music app. Sound is much better with a good DAC Amp.

USB-C splitter

Has anyone tried using a USB-C splitter to charge the tablet and listen to music at the same time via headphones?
I haven`t yet, have been wanting to get one from Amazon, I have mine mounted in my truck and use it for music through my Sync 3.5mm port.
tried a cheap one but it didn't work.
I tried cheap splitter , but also not charging.
Wonder if pogo connector charging influence on USB connection...
Not tested, but possibly no conflict here...
Any new experience about that?
https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/Tablets/Tab-S6-usb-c-headphone-issue/td-p/1287516 gives more details about USB C audio splitters.
However i still can't find a compatible splitter on the web

headphones problems - 3,5mm to USB c

Hey guys, I'm having some weird problems here.
I'm using the .178 version since it was release to the vog-L29 and till now was ok.
I've always use 3,5mm headphones with USB c adapter. Today my headphones stopped working. So I grabbed another adapter and still not working. The headphones itself are ok. Work on my other phone and computer.
All of my SEVEN different adapters are not working.
When I connected the original USB c headphones that came with the phone in the box they worked just ok.
So...there's any chance that Huawei had "blocked" use of any adapter via USB c?
I mean, the phone is ok. The headphones is ok. The adapters are working... Why the f**** only when using third part adapters it stops?
