Greetings to XDA Community,
Xiaomi really make the worst announcement ever on MIUI Forum. It is posted by Administrator called DinaDuan. The message are as follows :
"Dear Mi Fans,
Here's something VERY important before you flash or update the ROM.
1. Xiaomi Phones manufactured for Chinese market are not able to run MIUI Global ROM.
2. Xiaomi Phones manufactured for Global markets are not able to run MIUI China ROM.
We highly recommend you to buy Xiaomi Phones via official or authorized sales channels and double check the system infomation before flashing or updating.
Thank you for understanding

What do you think about this issue? Will china phones user still able to use Global ROM after this?

But you can install global rom, it's just impossible to lock BL again, you have to back to chinese rom to lock it!
With this new announcement, does it mean that we can still flash the xiaomi.eu ROM?
I have a phone on the way from china with the global rom flashed onto it
I'm a bit worried now

I almost regret buying this chinese phone. First, they introduced bootloader locking issue then edl authorization and now this! Xiaomi is becoming worst than I thought.
Will this be implemented for all Xiaomi phones?
unlock your bootloader and you can flash it
I think that Xiaomi is just taking that load out of his conscience.
Reminding people that if they brick is not their fault but yours.
I agree with you, a lot of people flesh before they read any instructions and end up with bricked device.
I bought a Xiaomi mi 8 from GeekBuying some days ago, faulty advertised as global version. When I updated the result was a bricked phone. Now I have asked for a full refund since it was totaly their fault...i don't want to say the word "fraud". If they don't give me a full refund I will have to complain to the European department responsible for customer's rights in Europe and ask charges against GeekBuying warehouses in Europe.

You are totally right about it. This re-sellers are selling the Mi8 as Global Version, they unlock the BL without the buyer consent, so yes, they are adultarating the product and selling something that doesn't even exist.
And the problems with BL are there just because re-sellers are doing this kind of thing!

Uhm I'm not sure but I would say that geekbuying flashed the Global rom through EDL, so they didn't need to unlock bootloader. He then updated OTA with locked bootloader and **** happened. @ekc_1971 do you remember if bootloader was locked or unlocked?
Wait a little, I have a xiaomi mi 8 Chinese version with global rom installed, also the bootloader is unlocked l, does that mean that if I upgraded OTA to miui 10 my device will get bricked?
BTW I upgraded 2 times from 9.5 to 9.6 and everything ran smoothly, can someone please clarify?

If your bootloader is unlocked you won't brick. Make sure you never lock the bootloader though.
Thank you for clarifying, why would somebody want to lock the bootloader again?
I should not have any problem then, but I would appreciate if you guys could post comments when you upgrade to a global miui 10 having a Chinese version.
Hi guys,
Does anyone have access to closed beta of Miui 10 China Developer Beta 8.9.20 for Mi8?
Could you send a link with the recovery zip of that rom?
Thanks
Best regards
I just got Stable Update today for China MIUI 10. why would you need closed beta?

The version that you received is android Pie?
Because since my bootloader is based in android Pie, and Miui has anti-role back feature, i cannot install oreo based versions.
The phone is a chinese version and had the bootloader unlocked.
But with a update it locked and now it enters in recovery mode (enters in recovery mode and only enables flashing zip files).
The rom that it has is the global 8.9.20 and it only accepts roms of the same version or above in chinese (to fix the soft brick)...

For now you can, anti-var=1 for 9.0 builds, which means anti rollback is not yet enabled. So yes u can go dwon to 8.0 for now. But this does not apply for builds in the future, check your anti-var number first!

It can be true if you have the bl unlocked and flash it by fastboot.
Since i have bl locked and i'm stuck with recovery mode, i can only flash it using beta MI PC suite or http://www.xiaomitool.com/
By recovery i tried to downgrade from MI8Global_8.9.20 to MI8_8.9.6 and it gives this messages:

With xiaomi tool:
If i try the MI8Global_8.9.6 (that is android 8.0) it says:
So i must use Android 9.0 based roms.
That's why that i'm trying to download the MI8_8.9.20 (chinese) to flash it via recovery.
If you have any way to unbrick my phone via fastboot with locked bl and without going via edl, i will appreciate your help.
Thanks

Hi Ru13en,
I'm in exactly the same boat as you. I have had pretty much the same experience as you've had with locking the bootloader with the Global Rom at. I locked my bootloader with Global Stable 10.0.2.0 and managed to use XiaomiToolsADB to get unto Global Developer ROM 8.9.20. Of course, the phone stayed in a bootloop and refused to accept any other ROM, saying that they are all older versions. I've been on the hunt for the Chinese beta 8.9.20 since.
You've now tried it and although you have two other errors, it seems like the real error is that it isn't released to the public yet.
Apparently, that should change this Friday. I'd add the link but my account is new. Suffice to say, that on the Chinese Xiaomi forums, they say the Chinese dev rom for 8.9.20 was delayed due to the Chinese holidays. But the schedule is to be released to the public this Friday October 12th.
I'm hopeful that we are correct in thinking that attempting to flash the Chinese 8.9.20 dev rom will allow the phone to boot. Because otherwise, I'm fresh out of ideas!

Hi 00DicE00,
Sorry to hear that you have the same issue as me...
I know that each friday they launch a new dev ROM and we had infortune to get our phones stuck in Chinese holidays.
Friday i will check in mi foruns for the chinese public dev beta and try it on the phone.
If it works, i will make a tutorial in mi forum and xdadev to help soft bricked mi 8 phones (hard bricked, must use edl method that requires edl authorized account, which sucks).
If it doesn't work, well since i have warranty and this phone came with unlocked bootloader.
I will request refund, because i payed it as a global version and not a chinese unlocked with global rom -.-
Those that don't have warranty, should ask or buy the unlock via edl (that requires opening the phone, use edl pin and edl authorized account to reflash stock rom)
So tomorrow i will post news in this topic
Hi Ru13en,
The thing I don't understand are the version numbers for MIUI.
The rom I had when I locked my bootloader was MIUI 10.02.0 Global stable. Of course, being a Global rom with a locked bootloader, it bricked the phone. I understand that.
But then I tried to flash MIUI 10.0.5.0 Chinese stable. This is higher than 10.0.2.0 Global stable isn't it? Why did this not work? I got the same message you did saying "Sorry, flash lower version not allowed". I don't understand this.
How does MIUI number their versions? Is it different in the Chinese stable versions to what is in the Global stable versions?

To make sideload you must use dev versions and not stable versions (ota validation will not autorize you to make such update giving errors like lower, or public stable version).
Also, normally the number of Chinese versions are higher than Global versions, but it doesn't mean that they are the latest.
Because, since now the latest roms are allways created in Global version and then converted to Chinese version (with a bigger number).

Ps : Yes I understand just don't flash the chinese stable or dev Rom and vise versa !!! With Custom Rom no mistake just if you use miflash don't lock.
Thanks.

Btw xiaomieu doesnt have ota updates you need to flash manually from twrp every time.
Hi.
Im on EEA pfaeuxm v10.2.24.0.
I want to switch to the latest global stable rom.
Is it possible to switch without unlocking bootloader?
Someone told me that they managed to do it via miflash tool only without unlocking bootloader.
Thanks
I switched from EEA ROM to Global Weekly while my bootloader was still locked using XiaomiTool V2. You should be able to find it in one of the threads. MI Flash definitely won't allow you to change ROMs while your bootloader is locked.

Only downside i found, it's a windows app, you will need a PC to do it.

Yes. For global beta its a two step procedure, you need to use tool to get global stable first, then flash dev version with phone updater.
The tool will leave you with global stable.
Pay attention it will wipe your phone, backup your data first.

Eea to global stable?
Hi sorry it this has been asked before but I've recently received my mi 11 ultra global version from Vodafone UK. Like the phone but some issues that are making me debate whether to keep it. Touches missing, battery life and sub par camera. Because I'm on the global version I'm on MiUI 12.0.2. I was wondering if anyone knows if I can flash the EU rom onto this to try out 12.5 to see if I want to keep the phone. I highly doubt we'll see a global release for 12.5 before my time to return the device runs out. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks
You need to apply for the bootloader unlock process ( takes around 7 days ) and then you can flash the fastboot xiaomi.eu ROM on it just fine.
Good luck !
Brilliant thanks for the reply mate

Of course you can especially by fastboot. You can flash EU custom ROM or EEA The only problem is you will have Chinese Bands no matter what ROM you install.

Thanks

Flash it by twrp, not fastboot. Just in case. It's much safer by twrp. And of course, you'll need to track down a Vodafone ROM to return it if you do but I doubt it after flashing EU. And don't worry about the bands as someone said, you'll not miss out on anything.

I am assuming you mean stock. That would actually be the EEA rom. The Xiaomi.eu rom, which is the China rom. minus Chinese bloat and Google services added in must be flashed using TWRP.

He could flash the earlier one by fastboot
Why would flash a rom from over a month ago? The last fastboot rom was issued 5-13.
