Tempting Android N AOSP

Very tempted to update to Android N (Team FXP AOSP)
But I value my camera quality (Using DRM fix kernel, works great)
Knowing that the Xperia is never going to get android N, due to google removing the Z3's kernel from their source, would it be worth updating to AOSP, basically removing all the features that are so good?

You answered your own question, stick to stock if you want a camera that works 100% well. AOSP camera has never been good for any phone and the camera on Nougat barely works anyway.
Next best thing is Concept ROM, which still has a decent camera

I'm tempted to try Nougat AOSP. I don't mind losing the camera on Z3c that much since I prefer my camera on my G4. But I don't know how to install it. Is there a guide? That's up? Last time I checked Sony's site the guide was down.
Two qustions, how bad does the camera become, is it still usable for simple random snaps to send to friends on IMs?
What is DRM fix kernel?

Lol nougat barely works. I've been running it for days now. My opinion is nougat is excellent on z3c. I can upload a flash able zip with full Google apps if people are interested

That does sound good. Get 6-8h SOT with SLiMM ROM. Do you know how much you get on this one?
Also could you do me a favour and check which Android Security Patch it got? It would be awesome if PA is up to date with that.

Security patch is September. Its built off the main branch of AOSP google sources. So security will always be uptodate

Thanks, mate! might give this a try then. Shame abut the camera, but I guess ill found out how unusable is. Hopefully there is a fix soon.

Please could provide a link to the Rom Nougat 7.0

Can you please share the gapps, or tell me which ones you are using? I got cm gapps or open gapps from cm website (for 7.0) and my google play services keep crashing.

Is where I am posting all the builds I put together. So be warned that if it doesn't boot it was just a test version. AFAIK the latest ROM should boot fine without issue. GApps are already installed on all the flashable zip versions in that location

Hey thanks. Quick question, you said you have been running nougat on your device and everything (but the camera) seems to be working. I just installed it last night (and my gapps are working as well now) and I already noticed a couple of bugs. First and most important, i can't hear the person on the other end of the line. It appears that my earpiece is not working. The person on the other end can hear me, but I can't hear that person. Second and minor issue, once i plug in my z3c to charge, the battery icon top right shows the charging sign as it should. However when i unplug, that charging sign doesn't go away. So far i have noticed these bugs, can you confirm if you are not facing these bugs (so I know its my device that is messed up).

I'm using the latest AOSP for our devices, and facing thiese bugs too. ( 20160912 ). Sometimes I've got calling bug when I can't hear the other person on the line, but he can hear me. Just a restart solves it, but I've got thiese problem nearly evry tenth call time... And one more thing, while i'm on calling and my phone set to minimum volumes, everyone else could to hear my phones speak... or I can say it, what you're talking about. Like when i set the speak to a loudspeaker, as though it were the whole conversation. The speakers are very loud on minimum volume, and not too much louder on maximum settings. ( but, i think they are a known bug ).
Second, the cahrging icon. Yes I experienced it too, when you disconnect the charger from the phone, the icon remain the same, like when the charger plugged in.. And I think, something gping on the background, because my battery goes down nearly 30 percent by a night ( 8h ).
About the rom speed. I think, it runs very smooth / fine until more than five software parallel, ROM while fast. If more than five program run in the background, ROM start to tear, slow down. If you delete them from the memory, the system will be fast again.
I tried to take a logcat with "aLogcat" from playstore, but it's not working. I remember it from my previously phone age, i must convert it to system app... But now, I can't do this, because i did it with Titanium Backup, and now they not support andoid N..
Anyway, I think its will be a very good AOSP rom... ( without camera :/ )

As wrote in the title I am still on MArshmellow, so nothing apparently related to the Nougat things that are happening this days for the OP3T.
Coming from a Nexus 5, I started my OnePlus experience two days ago with the OnePlus 3T, I have performed a full clean install without restoring settings from my Google account, and I have started to soffer of an huge and significant "Google Play Service" battery drain.
I have tried:
- From the app menu, Goolge Play Services: "Memory - Manage space - Delete data"
- Disabling the automatic Google backups for account and apps settings
- Turn GPS and localization off
- Disable Google Now and all it's features
all this helped a bit but on the other hand searching here and on XDA I saw that many people, coming from differente devices, are suffering of this and until now, or maybe I have not found it yet, no one has found something that seems the real cause with a consequent real solution.
I have to admit that I have choosen to buy the OnePlus 3T for his battey life performances and that I am a little frustrated about this battery drain because it does not allow me to fully enjoy this wonderful device.
Can anyone help me with this?

Update to OOS 4

Say hello to the Mobile Radio Active bug. I can see from your charts that you're suffering from it. It is a big in Android since Lollipop. It is still present in Nougat. The app reporting the usage is not actually the cause. (For me, my browser shows it.)
The bug displays itself as high amounts of Mobile Radio Active time when it should be turned off instead.
There is no real fix. The Mobile Radio Active fix available for xposed doesn't work fully.
My configuration still suffers from it BUT much less. As in, I get great battery life and only occasion does the mobile radio active level go above CPU time. Here's my config:
I'm using OxygenOs 3.5.4 right now (but I've ran this with Suntans ROM so it should be fine on other ROMs) with Frankly Kernel R5.
Then I install xposed, with DS battery saver and Airplane Mode Helper. I have the MRA fix module active just in case. I also install Amplify and Greenify. You'll want to manage the config of these but the defaults do help.
With this set up, I have my phone switch off its data when the screen is off. This is the important part of the config that helps fix the bug.
Note that the Smart Network module for xposed is supposed to switch the data off too, but I find if I use it instead of DS battery saver, the bug returns.
This specific combination of software and config has taken me months of research to get right. Hopefully these pointers will help you.

Also, don't go to 4.0. battery life with this config is better than using 4.0. (standby drain is much less)

So, let me try to get into it... Doing this I am going to lose every mobile signal data while my screen is off or maybe there is some "trigger" that "every x time" active the mobile radio" in order to make my phone able to receive notifications?
Greenify is something that I were already using on my Nexus, it's time to see if the configuration you suggested can at least improve my battery performances

No problem. I've been meaning to document my configuration for a while! DS battery saver let's you set how often the phone is allowed to wake up and how long dor. It is fuzzy, as in, in practice the device wakes up for a few other things, but it does ensure you can still get timely updates.
I'll have a think what else I've done. Best thing for me is that I don't have to disable GPS or mess with Google play. Most people don't seem to realise they eare suffering the MRA bug and fail to understand that the app showing the issue isn't the actual app causing it. It is causing many people to uninstall things they don't need to.

Anyway, suffering this kind of bugs in 2017, when a lot of users have reported this and thanks to this Google could have sufficient information to analyse the issue, seems not acceptable... we are not talking about a little refresh bug or something like that but this could be the kind of bug that can make the user experience horrible for people.. just a little outburst.

I've tried to disable google app, permission to location is turn off for every app except maps, only using 1 google account. This is my cycle.

A lot of people after the Nougat update are facing battey drain issues like you.
If your drain, like most of them, is related to the Oxygen OS there are good news for you, because OnePlus on twitter was talking about a new release (4.0.2) to fix all this battery issues.
Did you experienced this drain also before updating to Oxygen 4.0.x?
In my case I think to not be as lucky because I am experiencing this also with Oxygen 3.5.3 that is based on Android Marshmellow.
Yesterday I got a conversation with the Google Italian support describing my problem and all the "Mobile radio active" bug information... they told me they started a further investigation on this matter in order to solve the issue. I really hope that this could be a good starting point in order to definely resolve this issue and give to the Mobile radio active bug the importance and the severity that it worth!

If your battery drain is caused by this mobile data bug, maybe you can take a look at this app "LeanDroid" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teqtic.leandata&hl=en
I have it on my S6 and my S7 because those 2 phones had terrible battery drain and this app seems to help out. You can limit certain services such as mobile data, bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi.
You still get background notifications and stuff, but it is in a "sleep mode" sort of state and helps preserve your battery.
When I get my OP3T I will write a tutorial about some great apps that can help preserve battery and even optimize the performance of your phone even more than it already is.

Leandroid looks like a replacement for DS battery saver. I'll give it a try and see which saves more. DS hasn't been updated for a while.
...Works with OOs 4.0.1. DS battery saver doesn't. Could be on to a winner here since that's the main reason I've not stuck with it.

I only used 3.5.4 for one day when i bought it. Then updated to 4.0.1, unlocking, root, and install all apps that i need.
Here is my cycle after i did :
1. Disable google app
2. Disable location permit for all apps except maps.
3. Using greenify to sleep background apps
Pretty impressive, but the google play service still draining more then android system.

I'm still investigating on my battery drain problem apparently related to Google Play services.
Summing, like stated some posts ago, all things for now are pointing to one, and not so positive, thing: Mobile radio active bug (here more details: https://code.google.com/p/android/is...tail?id=190396)
I've found that using the WiFi connection my drain problem is totally gone, more than this, I see that Google Play Services exchanged a lot of background data when I am using mobile data (2G/3G/4G) .
Due to this I tried, from the Google Play Services app settings, to active the "Limit app background data" option and with my pleasure I saw that this was fixing my drain problems also with mobile data!
"All fantastic!" I said.. not at all, doing this I saw that I lost push notifications while receiving messages on whatsapp, messenger, hangout and so on.. and unfortunately this is very inconvenient.

Update, Leandroid is a great replacement for DS battery saver. I saw 8h SOT yesterday with it on MM. DS battery saver/leandroid are the key feature to working around the MRA bug. You do lose immediate notifications but you can specify how often to check, which is a nice enough workaround to make everything worth it.
No need to use Greenify on Nougat, in OOs 4, Greenify is part of the OS. But I still trust it more as it has proven itself over the years.
So yeah, leandroid plus Greenify plus Amplify plus FK kernel equals insane battery life.

I have android system and android OS chewing up like 70% battery with like 3 apps installed (exchange, News, TIt backup), swype removed and greenify? My Screen does not even make this list- absolutely horrible - what could cause this?
Seems to be fixed with 4.02...

The version 4.0.2 should fix this battery drain issue if they are related to the Android OS system from the Nougat update.
By the way in the update changelog I did not found nothing related to the "battery drain fix", on the other hand happy to hear that the new version fixed your issue!

Hey guys. Google brought me here. Apparently there isn't much on the subject.
I ran OOS 3.5.3 a few days ago (haven't tried 3.5.4 since I heard it had battery issues). I was suffering from high drainage from Google Play Services, Android System and Android OS. With the help of Greenify, Amplify and Power Nap I could get at least 5h of screen time. I got sick of the drain so I tried OOS 4.0.2, hoping it would fix things. Android System and Android OS drains are indeed fixed, but the mobile radio active is still present. I'm barely getting 4h of SoT, with the lack of Amplify and Power Nap, so I'll probably revert back to 3.5.3 soon, even though it had issues. Also getting disappearing notifications on 4.0.2. Custom ROMs are a no since I need the camera to be at its best. Should I just keep flashing stock ROMs hoping I get lucky and it gets fixed?

The mobile radio active bug is unlikely to get fixed. Try leandroid with 4.0.2 but for me, 3.5.4 with FK kernel, Amplify and Greenify work better for battery.

[Q] Horror: Battery Drain on EXYNOS N9 - any insights?

I know that this is not the first thread regarding the EXYNOS battery drain issue, but as a matter of fact, I didn´t find any hints on how to tackle it on all the forums out there. I constantly get something between 2 to 4 hours of SOT with my Note 9 and I guess I am right to say that this is far beyond strange. My 3 years old Oneplus 3T still achieves something around 6 hours - with the very same bevavior and a way smaller battery.
I´m a standard user without any special usage behavior - mainly messaging, mail checks, some notes here and there and some spotify. Dual Sim active, WiFi active, AOS active, good wifi & data connection.
Here are some repeated measurements (samsung, gsam):

This cannot be normal - and as I´m obviously not alone with this issue, I´m super grateful for every meaningful discussion on the why and how to tackle. I don´t think that any behavior recommendations would be helpful here ("disable wifi if not needed", "reduce screen brightness to a minimum" etc). I don´t want to mess around with greenify via root or xposed module etc either. This is a 1000€ device and it performs much worse than my old OnePlus.
What do you guys think? is there anything i´ve missed? Are there any hints on how to hunt down some main suckers? Did anyone with an exynos device and the same issue get out of this mess?

I don´t want to mess around with greenify via root or xposed module etc either. This is a 1000€ device and it performs much worse than my old OnePlus.
What do you guys think? is there anything i´ve missed? Are there any hints on how to hunt down some main suckers? Did anyone with an exynos device and the same issue get out of this mess?

How old is your Note 9 ? Have you updated to ONE UI recently ? And none of your links work! i tried a few. They go to some upload page! No images are being displayed, and i cant work out what to click as it's in some foreign language!!

His links in a post within the real life review forums works.
If I was OP, I'd start from scratch. I'd also be checking standby drain V SOT. Put device in airplane mode and check overnight how much battery consumption has occured. Then same with airplane mode off. Within gsam app, also check what apps are using what the most via the pull down menu, pic attached.
Also try putting to sleep all apps that dont require your notifications all the time.

Jepp, have done a factory reset recently which didn´t really have a significant effect Before someone asks: I didn´t use youtube premium until 3 days ago, it´s not the battery eater. Check this:

Strange with your SoT.. I tried a few things that helped me really. Just look into your Devoptions and navigate to ''Backgroundprocesses'' & ''Backgroundchecking for Apps'' Read this in antoher Thread here..so if you deactivate things like Bixby or similar..my SoT push up to nearly 7 Hrs and my overall runtime of the device is between 2 or 3 Days, depend on Usage. Bevore i get only 2-3 Hrs SoT and overall runtime about 1.5 Days. So maybve it will help you with this 2 settings in Devoptions.
If you cant find it, i can attach Screenshots, wich 2 Options i mean. But my Systemlanguage is German, just saying. But if you want, i upload a Screenshot. Want to say that the impact for Sot and overall runtime was amazing. You can feel it just after deacitivating a few things, if you look on your Batterybar. Other Option is to clear Cache via Recovery. But this helps not everytime and if you done a factoryreset so far, i dont think this will help.
*Edit* Oh forget to say, you can also put your Always On on activate by taping on screen. So this save me a few % Battery aswell !

Okay i give you a Screenshot wich 2 Options i mean, and 2 Screenshots wich things i personaly deactivated and are safe to deactivate. So you dont must research by yourself :highfive:
'Edit' Oh hope you can see something on my last 2 Screens..maybe they are too large ?! And for your usage case i recommend you to look exactly what you need and what not. Want to say maybe you can deactivate more then in my personal setup or less, depend on your usagecase. But i can say, that everything work perfect for me with this list of apps i deactivated for backgroundcheck or put in standbymode.

So you had the Problems with Oreo too ?

Actually - i dont know bought the Note 9 used, as always and it already came with pie (to me!). I bought it in January, the original receipt is dated on September 18.

Maybe a downgrade to oreo via Odin is recommended to see if that helps

Uuhh what the...did you know that spotifiy is using the accelerator like - all the time? Just stumbled upon this in BBS and a minute of research has shown that this is a know issue since years.
Will deinstall Spotify just for a day and see if it helps. Is just had a day with Bluetooth of - no effect.
EDIT: added 2 more Screenshots. One shows a service calles com.google. android.gms, which I guess is related to play Services. Numbers of alarms and corresponding wakeups are quite high as well...

Install beta don't reboot
Go to mag remove mods don't reboot then press install on magisk then choose last option install after ota (something like that) then once done press reboot in mag ?

Are Beta versions also region specific? Or anyone can flash it?

dont try that my phone got ****ed. it was boot looping and then i fixed boot loop by resotring the original boot image from 10.0.7 on the new beta software. but that made my phone lose signal and wifi. after that i reinstalled the beta update one more time and finally i have signal again... let's wait for the new patched boot image for beta..

Flashed it on Thursday when it came out.
Since, all my wireless networking (WiFi, 4G, Bluetooth) has been incredibly unstable. WiFi randomly disconnects, mobile signal drops out constantly (down to "no signal" on both SIM cards, happens more frequently if not on WiFi). Both with stock kernel and arter97's r53b1 as well.
Battery life also took quite a hit with this release, whereas with 10.0.0.7 I'd be around 80% when I got to work, and around 40% by the time I got home, I'm down to 60% by the time I'm at work, and get the 15% warning on my way home... Usage pattern didn't change. Overnight drain also increased to almost 20% from the previous 3-4%.

Hmm, I'm pretty happy with it and find battery life to be at least on par with 10.0.7, if not better. But then my device is rooted, I use Bluspark kernel (v82) and Magisk with LKT in balanced setting....EDIT: seems as if battery consumption with wireless LTE network is quite a bit higher than with constant WIFI at home.

Question Is RUI 3.0 version C.07 stable enough to update to now?

Have any of you updated to the new version? Is it stable now? Does everything work fine?
A month ago I got a prompt to update to the then new android12 update but a lot of things were broken. Some apps I need(like nubank) wouldn't open for no apparent reason and the system was overall less responsive. Not to mention the NFC function was removed for no reason.
I had to go through the process of downgrading using a tutorial in this forum because the rollback package they provided was for the indian variant, so I'd rather know for sure that everything is OK before I update again

I don't know if this is any help, but I've updated to c.06 in the past without it breaking anything. I've updated to c.07 now, and it seems stable to me personally.
maybe try a factory reset before updating? I haven't done that myself btw

No prob. Performance has been very snappy so far. Battery is holding up great and charges as fast as before. Fingerprint en nfc are working fine.
The only annoying thing I've noticed (but maybe that's an Android 12 thing) is that the option for usb-tethering is missing from the pop-up screen when I plug my phone into my laptop. So I have to go into the settings screen to turn it on.

Coming back to report that I've updated, and while everything seems to be working fine I have noticed a drop in battery life which is quite annoying. Otherwise the rom runs smoothly and I've only noticed a small bug which sometimes prevents me from swiping up to close apps on the recent apps screen

C.07 was buggy. C.08 is even more buggy.

Device hangs alot.Battery draining more. Many apps aren't responding well (ex- YouTube etc.) C.06 has HDR but it even not available in C.08.
