Most of the discussions regarding relocking bootloader address Chinese Mi8 version however does the Global version of the Mi8 have any issues regarding relocking the bootloader? Will a Global version Mi8 brick if you relock the bootloader running a third party or GSI ROM?
UP, I would like to know, i'll receive my Global Version MI 8 soon and I plan to install Xiaomi.eu MIUI 10 and either relock the bootloader or TWRP + Root
BTW, which one is better/more stable than Official global ROM from updater and latest Xiaomi.eu ROMS?
Can we install Xiaomi.eu ROMS with updater or TWRP + unlocked bootloader is necessary?

Phone will not allow you flash unofficial img when bootloader is locked. I dont think it will let you lock after flashing rom with unlocked bootloader. At least i cant manage to lock bootloader after debloating miui stable.
With locked bootloader only official update can be installed through the updater app and that to stable ROM.
You can relock bootloader again regardless if you use official MIUI beta or stable ROM.
You'll have to unlock bootloader in order to flash any other ROM let it be any ROM.
I flashed latest xiaomi.eu ROM for my Xiaomi Mi9 Global Edition with Android Q (9.8.15) but I wanna return global stock rom (so there is downgrade to android 9 too) with bootloader locked. I wanna avoid brick, so can you help me? I have to use miflash, right? Thanks in advance!
Hello,
You have to flash the Fastboot ROM with MiFlash like you said, there you will an option "Clean all and lock" which will relock the bootloader.

Yes. According to Xiaomi, it is recommended to unlock the BOOTLOADER but if you don't want to, the device will not be damaged:
Steps:
Put the device in FastBoot mode
Install XiaoMi Tool on your PC and configure it ( https://www.xiaomitool.com/V2/latest )
Choose option "Device locked. I want to unlock it"
You choose which device is yours
And let the app guide you
greetings everyone, is it possible to change the rom?
Possible, provided you unlock the bootloader.
Unlock bootloader

If you have a Chinese model, do not re-lock the bootloader (brick).

Yep, this is done with Miflash, be careful " flash and lock "box is checked by default (see the tutorial).
With a stock rom you will need to root and use Magisk modules for the phone to be certified (banking apps, Netflix, payment).
The best is to use a Xiaomi Eu rom where everything works without root and with the unlocked bootloader.
Mi unlock/Miflash/Xiaomi Eu rom will erase your data.
its fine with me to use EU rom, thanks
Do note the devices are not completely the same; Poco users who flashed the Xiaomi.eu rom which is based on the K60 rom are unable to make calls unless they flash the global modem.
