Hello everyone,
I have noticed that my RP2 has been dropping Cell signal for 1 minute every so often. Just wanted to see if anyone else is having this issue.
It tends to be more prevalent while on WiFi.
I have AT&T an the RP2 is the unlocked version.

Constantly, considering the fact that I live in Broward (highly populated area with plenty of towers) it's definitely not the network. After calling the AT&T and making their standard Access Point profile phone refused to have data connection.
Back to the auto generated one... At least I have some data ..
I imported it to South Africa (after checking bands of course) and have no problems with data or cell reception. Our providers aren't nearly as concerned with what device you use. I obviously can't use some provider features like VoLTE but that's to be expected. I think AT&T definitely has something going on not necessarily to do with reception. The antennas on the device itself seem good.

By the way I live in Broward too and found a solution to this data issue.
It's in another thread that you had responded to. Check it out and let me know how it goes!
I'm having the same exact issue.

Below are the steps I took, I would say just do Step 1 and see if that does the trick. After I rooted my phone and it got reset, I only did step 1 and it gave me LTE and no more random Signal dropping.
Best of luck!
"Alright this is what I have done so far and it looks promising!
1. Entered the code *#*#4636#*#* in the stock phone app on the dial
- from here I changed the following setting in the phone information tab
-- Set Preferred Network Type > LTE/TD-SCDMA/UMTS
-- Clicked on the top right corner (3 Dots) > Select Radio Band > United States
2. Now I also went to the AT&T Support site for phones that are not provided by them and they recommend to make some changes on the phone's network settings as well. Here is the Link to the Changes that need to be made...
https://www.att.com/esupport/article...06?gsi=QMyE1Pw
Here is a brief summary of what I have on my end:
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile network > Advanced > Access Point Names
-- Here you will want to add an additional access point settings by clicking on the plus sign on the top right
-- The Parameters should be as follows:
--- Name: NXTGENPHONE
--- APN: NXTGENPHONE
--- Proxy: Not Set
--- Port: Not Set
--- Username: Not Set
--- Password: Not Set
--- Server: Not Set
--- MMSC: http://mms.mobile.att.net
--- MMS proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
--- MMS Port: 80
--- MCC: 310
--- MNC: 410
--- Authentication Type: Not Set
--- APN Type: default,mms,supl,hipri
--- APN Protocol: IPv4
--- APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4
--- APN Enabled
--- Bearer: Unspecified
--- MVNO Type: None
--- MVNO Value: Not Set
--Once all the settings are in place make sure you select the new profile you just created.
As of now, I am able to get LTE+ and in the past 3 to 4 hours my signal has not dropped at all! "
I have been having a similar issue with my RP2 since i bought it in November 18.
I am with Vodafone inthe UK.
So i put my phone on 4g/lte/auto mode. After a while the newtork just stops working. if i stay in my house it is ok - but as soon as i travel or move the signal can drop.
Once the signal has dropped i may not notice it for a long time - then the only way to get a signal back is to turn the network back to 3G only, then put it in airplane mode then put it back on....
I have spoken to vodafone and they have sent me a enw sim but this has not fixed the issue - i am confident it is not a provider issue.
I have so little time on my hands i have only now just got round to speaking to Razer about it and they are doing an RMA for me - but they are really making me work for this RMA plus dragging out replies to emails by making me wait 3-4 days...
I have got round this problem by leaving it on 3G only - but obviously this is not ideal...but at least its stable.
My question is does anyone know what settings i can try in the above post and use for Vodafone UK as oposed to ATT?
many thanks
Nick

Had this phone just over a week. I’m on Vodafone UK with the RP2. I drive for a living and today was on the RP2 (HANDS FREE)
It kept on cutting out. When phoned back it just beeped. Then when talking again it was patchy.
The signal icon had an x on it so knew it was my phone.
Tried what Same Old Dude said.
Entered the code *#*#4636#*#* in the stock phone app on the dial
- from here I changed the following setting in the phone information tab
-- Set Preferred Network Type > LTE/TD-SCDMA/UMTS
I think that means 4g/3g/2g
And it worked. When not on the phone it said LTE. As soon as the phone rang it jumped to H+
Was on the phone for at least an hour while driving without it cutting out. Also did a speed test.
161 down 41 up.

Hi mate,
thanks for our response. However - shortly after i posted my question - i put mine on TD-SCDMA/CDMA/UMTS. I had no problems....however, now and again i do have to put it in flight mode then off flight mode to sort the signal out.
after i saw your post i tried it on your setting and it started doing the same thing again....it really is so strange. I have now set it back as above and it seems ok.
i have never had this issue with the RP1 or any other phone i had on this network, dont know whether to proceed with this RMA or not anymore as it could just be that this phone is crap on Vodafone? some sort of incompatability...?

this is so strange - i had problems again yesterday morning - so put it back on the setting you suggested and all has been good now since then....fingers crossed - i will see how it goes.
it could be that Vodafone are just useless in some areas or they may have been running maintenance...
i will procced with the RMA if probs come back
Just to let everyone know - i resolved all my problems by simply selecting "unknown" from the dropdown instead of selecting one.
I think this must basically mean "i dont know so please choose whichever one is suitable at any given time for me"
LOL
Having the same issues with Verizon. I would love to select unknown but it will not stick, if I choose United States at the top then back to main page it's reverted to whatever is was previously. Or if I leave the app and come back unknown is always gone. How do you make it stick?

Hey mate… it doesn't stick . If you select unknown, then update… and come out, it will auto choose the correct one for your network. When you go back in, it will have automatically gone to the correct one.
If you go through the process of getting Xposed to work, download LTE Mobile Signal Fix. Had this issue the first day I got my RP2 a few months back. Haven't had that issue since installed that module the day after I got my RP2.
So it's the same code in the dialer as on Xiaomi phones (and others too probably) interesting... I lost 11% overnight, from 44 to 33 in about 7 hours. Let's see if this improves with LTE/UMTS (Europe, here in NL we don't have CDMA)

Any solution?
Only GPRS/EDGE does work, if 3G is available, it disconnects automatically until 3G isn't available.
Solution: Set to 2G-Only :-(
Anyone has the same problem?
I didn't have this problem with FRF 72.
Provider: Sunrise Switzerland
Radio: 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.12_7
Have you tried going into your phone settings from *#*#4636#*#* and setting it to wcdma only? I did that on mine not too long ago and no more dropping to edge for me!

does it lose complete signal? or does it show 3g still but just not doing anything?
Mine was working at first after flash. Then at about 2am it just kept trying to load then times out. Still shows 3g but just dont do anything. Im hoping its just tmobile messing with their towers... I dont see why it would work at first then not now..
The problem is, that i can only have a internet connection, when the phone is logged in into a gsm or edge network.
as soon as wcdma is available, the phone disconnects from the internet.
the signal is always available, but it looses the internet connection when it changes to 3G mode.
when the phone changes from 2G->3G mode, i see for 1s the 3G icon and then no icon will bi there.
when it changes back from 3G->2G, the EDGE/GPRS icon is visible again.

ok thanks for clarification. My problem is different. I think related to phone company.. I still show the 3g signal and even have bars, but the pages dont load and eventually gives me the check your service and try again alert....
So Im hoping soon its working again for me... And I hope you as well figure it out.....
Thank you Good luck!
Had the same issue after update, did *#*#4636#*#* and noticed I was set to GSM only. Set it to WCDMA preferred and now it's good.
Thank you very much, thats the solution!!

Thank you. Updated to FRF83 this morning and I've had a full 3g signal, just couldn't pull data all day. Could over edge. Sure enough, GSM only was selected.
AT&T N1.
I'm having the same issue on a non-rooted phone on T-Mobile. No 3G after the FRF83 update. Full bars of service and 3G displayed in the status bar. Dropping to Edge only works but there is no data with 3G.

Same issue here.
Switching to WCDMA preferred doesn't work for me though.....any help is welcome
I think it's a hardware problem with a lot of N1's.
Mine was ok the first 2 months, and later, 3g not working. This is driving me crazy ):
I have tried everything. Change the simcard, I did a reset of the data with my telcon, and nothing happens.
I've seen these problems on many N1's.
I hope google / htc release a fix for this problem.

how bout checking your bands in the service menu. so *#*#4636#*#* -> phone info -> press the menu key for more options -> select bands -> choose one appropriate for your region (ie "USA BANDS").
If all else fails do a factory reset by going to the settings -> privacy -> restore factory defaults.. of course do a backup/sync/whatever before just to make sure you can get all your apps back.
There's other ways to do a factory reset via the bootloader .. its under recovery and you press up volume or the trackball I think and you can just select all the clear/erase settings there and that should clear out everything on the phone's internal storage.
The factory reset worked for me (via bootloader) when I upped from update-1 to FRF50 and didn't have any data icon next to my signal strength. Could call out but couldn't get data.
Hope that helps.

Check your APN settings. Do a full factory reset from the bootloader. If nothing works you should call tech support again. Most 3g issues where you have issues with connecting are service/signal level related. I *****ed early about my 3g issues on tmobile and it was the network as they've pretty much gone away with improving the backhaul in my area for HSDPA+ or updates to the phone's radio.
HTC is really really really cool about swapping phones and repairing them. If you feel you have a nexus that has hardware issues call them. I did this 3 times already (one time for minor cosmetic issues with the refurb they sent) and I couldn't be happier about how willing they were to replace/repair the phone. It turns out I really didn't have any issues with them at all.. with any issues with hardware from the second refurbished phone. It was service or software related and I'm happy to say with updates/tmobile service improvements I couldn't be happier with this phone.

Thanks blisk, but the thing I don't understand is why Blackberry 9700 with T-Mobile bands, doesn't have problems at all ?
By the way, I rooted my phone , so the thing with the warranty it's complicated
I had it happen last night at work all night, but when i got home i checked my wife's tp2 and it also was doing the same thing so for levity wasn't the phone but tmobile. They started worming the same time also.... I think its tmobile.
Hello, I had the same problem with my imported n1. I'm using the tmobile version non rooted fully stock manually updated to frf83. I did a *#*#4636#*#* and selected wcdma only, rebooted and couldn't connect to my gsm network. Went in again and did a wcdma preferred, rebooted, and I works better, still changes fast to edge and G, but less often, I'm still trying it but I have high hopes its gonna be ok
Mmmm i did have problems with 3G too after pushing FRF83, but i found out that for some reason the APN settings weren't set correctly after the update. In my case the port setting after the proxy of the APN wasn't set, i changed to the correct value and it worked.
In conclusion, check your APN settings.
Just went from FRF72 to FRF83 and it's working fine.
I'm currently set to GSM auto (PRL) in the *#*#4636#*#* and I didn't change it to that after putting on FRF83.
Hi all,
I have a question to those more knowledgeable about GSM network/settings (I come from a CDMA background). I bought my girlfriend a Captivate on EBay for Christmas; everything is working OK except it cannot get any signal. As far as I know everything is set up as it should, it just won't show any bars. While using the ServiceMode app [*#0011#] it goes from NO SERVICE to GSM : LIMITED and back over and over. While using her old phone in the same spot it has full bars. We went to the ATT store and made sure everything was set up on their end. I think the phone is defective but I figured I would check here first. I'll attach some relevant (I think) screen caps and if anything jumps out or you have anything for me to try and fix this, please let me know.
edit/
Also does anyone know the exact location of the internal antenna? I opened the phone up to see if something came lose during shipment or whatever and I didn't really get anywhere. I wanted to try and jury rig a extended antenna to see if that helped reception.
You flashed that ROM/theme on the phone? Or it came like that when you bought it?
That is Serendipity 5.1.. I figure while she can't use the phone as a phone, she should still benefit from a nice rom and kernel. When I received the phone originally it had the stock rom. Before I flashed a custom I made sure to check everything out first and the problem was there since the beginning. Since then I've flashed back to stock, tried different radios, etc etc but the results are always the same.
I don't know what the person before me did to the phone though, maybe he/she flashed something incorrectly and wrote over important settings? I don't know what I'm looking at that's really why I am asking here.
Grabbed some more settings, anything seem strange or wrong?
Stupid question, but do you have an active AT&T Sim card in the Phone? btw, these phones absolutely, positively will not work on Sprint or any other CDMA carrier.

Yes I have her new Sim card which was activated at the store over the weekend. I can switch it between her two phones, old one full bars, Captivate no bars.
Check you APN Settings. Menu> Wireless and networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names and let us know what they are, and we can go from there.
Says ATT WAP
Tap where is says att wap and check the settings to see if they match these:
Name: ATT WAP
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
Port: 80
Username:not set
Password:not set
Server: not set
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
mms port - 80
mcc 310
mnc 410
authentication type - none
apn type- internet + mms
If not, adjust them accordingly and see if it clears up. If not I'd say you have a serious hardware problem.
Those settings look good to me. Thanks for the help I suppose my problem is more serious. Anyone know of anything else I can check to maybe narrow my problem down? I'm not afraid to try and replace a radio/circuit board/internal antenna.
enter *#2263# and check that band selection is set to automatic.
Yep set to AUTOMATIC - Select GSM & WCDMA All Bands
Is there something equivalent to a PRL for GSM phones? Something that tells it what towers it can connect to?
idk if its related but i have poor signal problems too with my phone sometimes only shows bars and no h or edge and sometimes just says no service or emergency calls only
Yeah same here, right now it says Emergency calls only. I know for a fact that there are at least 6 GSM cell towers in this vicinity.
Can this issue have something to do with a failed unlocking attempt? I've been trying to research all routes and I tried to "unlock" to phone by using SGS Unlock Tool (rooted method), it was never successful. It states "Sorry, no codes found unknown error", possibly meaning that something internally is screwed up? I'm just pulling stuff out of my bum at this point. Any help will be appreciated!
Last bump for the weekend. Any suggestions? Already bought a new one but I still have 30 days to return it if I can figure out how to fix this.
Hi,
I've jumped ship from an iPhone to HTC One. I am very impressed with the phone and although there may some tiny imperfections such as raised glass in one corner and slight gaps I am very happy. Mine is an FA33TW.
Anyway, my problem is with data connectivity here in the UK. I am with Vodafone and with an "H" connected I get great speeds but if it is ever on anything other than "H" (G, 3G, E) I get no data at all. With four full bars on 3G pages fail to load and I cannot check my e-mail. This happens in my house, outdoors, anywhere. I've looked on the internet and some say it's a Vodafone thing but I thought I'd check here to see if anyone is experiencing similar problems.
Cheers.

Prob a problem with the APN settings that Vodafone send down. Got to Settings > Mobile Internet > Access Point Names push the 3 dot menu and Reset to factory defaults. This is pull down the latest apn settings from Vodafone and hopefully fix your problem.
Not that

HI,
Thanks for the suggestion but that doesn't make any difference. I think it may be a problem with Vodafone's network as I found quite a few reports of an identical problem from other Vodafone UK users on the internet.
Any Vodafone UK users out there who can or cannot use 3G/E?
Cheers.

It's unlikely to be the Vodafone network otherwise it would affect all different types of phone as well. My Dad has a One X on Vodafone and has no problems on G/3G/H.
I still think it's a problem with the APN settings so I would suggest deleting the existing ones and then entering them back in manually (Use Google to find all the details.)

It's an odd one indeed. If I change the APN settings to anything other than the ones that Vodafone send me by text then I get no connection at all including H.
Right now I am watching (in the 4636 test page) the network type change from HSDPA to UMTS and back every 30 seconds or so. During this time I can't open an internet page at all. The notification bar shows 3G when UMTS and H when HDSPA. Neither let me open a page which is odd as I usually get a page with H. I have 5 full bars of signal strength all the time at the desk here.
What I have noticed in this test page is that when things stop working and my internet goes off is that another setting on the test page changes. In the location line there is LAC which usually has a number. Right now it says "ee" which I think means it cannot identify which node it is connected to which is odd as I still have 5 bars.
I think this may suggest the problem is to do with Vodafone's network in my area but if anyone can shed any light on this?

Well I'm stumped. Have you tried a factory reset?

Got a new SIM from shop yesterday and have done all manner of resets to no avail.
I called Vodafone again just now and this time they claim they are doing work on one or two of the masts in the area. Had this problem for days now and last 2 times I phoned they said there was nothing going on.
So I think the LAC reading "ee" is because of a local mast/network issue and there's not much I can do but take their word and wait a few days.
Thanks for all the input!
My new xperia z3 compact (D5803) receives text messages and calls very intermittently. I'm on AT&T US, stock firmware.
- If I am using the phone (or have very recently used the phone, say within 30 seconds) then most calls and text messages come through fine (though not always).
- If I leave the phone alone for more than a few minutes, text messages or calls almost never come through - though occasionally I get a text message many hours after it was sent.
- If someone leaves a voicemail (because I didn't answer the phone, because the phone didn't ring!), I don't get a notification until I open the voicemail app and manually sync.
- I can make a phone call or send a text message with no problems (texts arrive immediately).
I don't have any of these problems when I put my SIM back into my HTC One M8.
I've tried the following to fix this:
- I went to the AT&T store and had them give me a new nano SIM. It made no difference; same issues.
- I factory reset my phone. It made no difference; same issues.
- I updated to the US version of the firmware. It made no difference; same issues.
- I put the SIM into a second, until that point unused, xperia z3. It made no difference; same issues.
Given that I have exactly the same issues after changing both the SIM and the phone, I can only think it must be some kind of compatibility issue with using AT&T on this phone - except I see that many other users of this forum are on AT&T and aren't having the same problems.
I do notice that I don't have the best signal in my house (usually 1-2 bars) so I'm wondering if maybe that could be related? As I say though, my HTC One works fine, as do all of the other AT&T phones in my house.
I think my next step will be to go and buy a T-Mobile prepaid SIM, just to see if that works, but does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? All in all this is getting pretty frustrating, because I LOVE the phone, but right now it's unusable for me.
I would suggest reading this thread below. It should give you some tips on how to resolve your issue.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/help/att-apn-settings-lte-t2888644
Thank you for trying to help!
I probably should have added that link as one of the things I had already tried. To be specific, my APN settings are:
Name ATT Phone
APN phone
Proxy Not set
Port Not set
Username Not set
Password Not set
Server Not set
MMSC http: //mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS proxy proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS port 80
MCC 310
MNC 410
Authentication Type None
APN type default,mms,supl,hipri
APN protocol IPv4
Bearer Unspecified
---------------------------------
I'm beginning to think it *must* be a signal issue, even though all the other phones in my house are fine. I have the "Advanced Signal Status" app installed, but I'm not sure what I should be looking for to see if there's anything fishy
Don't forget to download the Internet and MMS settings for your phone. You go into Settings > Wireless & Networks > More > Internet settings and download settings for Internet and MMS
Thanks again for the suggestions.
Sadly, it's still not working. I'm pretty sure I had already downloaded those settings, but I did it again anyway (seems you can just download over and over). I even reset the phone after that just to be sure, but the problem persists.
I have the same issue and I live in Sweden....
Im having the same issues. I restart the device and then come all the missed calls and missed txt messages.. i really hope theres a easy fix to this soon.
So, I switched my SIM from AT&T to T-Mobile and it fixed my issues. It seems that the either the poor AT&T reception in my house or some other strange incompatibility between the phone and AT&T was the problem.
Either way there's obviously some kind of issue with this phone - my guess is that when connectivity with the network is poor, the phone maybe times-out and gives up. Perhaps Sony will fix this with a firmware update at some point. In the mean time I would suggest that other folks having this issue maybe go to a part of town where they know reception is very good and see if the problems happen there.
So after 2 days of of testing, a new nano sim card and several phone calls to ATT I found temporary fix. Change your Network mode to WCDMA (preffered)/GSM. While this wont give you LTE it will prevent the missed phone calls and txt messages and at least you have HSPA+ . The problem is the LTE connection to ATT. The connection either drops and or prevents phone calls /texts from coming through the lower HSPA + or 2g bands... Not sure why this is. Hoping that when the Sony Store models start shipping on Nov 2nd they have the same issue and Sony will send out an update to fix the connection issue.
I'm on the US ATT network with the same problem as well. After trouble shooting I have come to agree with you. I'm really hoping Sony sends out an update.
Is this a problem on Tmobile USA with Z3 Compact also?
same issues!
I have two Z3 compacts (US version purchased direct from Sony) on my family plan with the same issues of not receiving SMS or calls when connected to wi-fi, and occasionally cannot receive SMS or calls when not connected to wi-fi either. I am always able to send texts and calls, and MMS/LTE always work (I am usually e-mailed when my phone isn't working and I get that right away). Whenever the phones aren't receiving calls, it rings once and goes to voicemail, which tips us off that the phones aren't working.
If you are also getting this problem, please get on AT&T chat and ask them to escalate/forward to their manager. We've got to get their attention. Additionally, I was told that "Okay so since the phone is unlocked our service is not guaranteed to work at full capacity, also I can not submit a case due to it is not an at&t phone. "
Yep - Same problem over here. AT&T in Northeast USA.
AT&T tried everything they could (resettings connection, etc) but again also said that it isn't guaranteed to work because it's an unlocked device.
I'm doing a system repair on the phone from the sony desktop application. Hoping it will fix, but not hopeful. Now sony says they want to have my phone in for testing. :/
I'm hoping they realize soon that this is a bug, and not a case of a broken phone.
Same problem here on cricket (AT&T) in Houston. Just disabled LTE. We'll see if that fixes it like it did for the other guy. Sony needs to get on this.

Not working MMS
Yep I have tried all of the above solutions and nothing is working. Changed APN multiple times, factory reset, switched SIM, called att, went into the store.
Like above, ATT came to the conclusion that unlocked phones are sometimes not compatible with their service and there's only so much trouble shooting they can do.
I have ATT in san francisco, and it's looking like I'm going to return the Xperia z3c. Shame it's a great phone besides the MMS issue.

Confirmed that this worked on my wife's z3c. She wont miss the LTE anyway since she is always near wifi and when she isn't 3G is definitely good enough. We streamed spotify for an hour today on country roads on her phone on 3G. No issues.

sorry to hear you guys are having such issues...
My z3 compact on att works flawlessly. I swapped my nano sim from a iphone 6 i was trying out straight into this.
Att did mention something about some settings they had to flip in the back end when i switched over to a nano sim from the sim i was using in my lg g3. If you guys loose all hope have a buddy with an iphone on att and use his imei and let att configure the sim for that phone then swap the sim into the z3...could work because i know it does for me
Same issues here. I have a new D5803 on Straight Talk (AT&T). I live in the mid Atlantic. It seems I don't receive calls/texts when I have 2 bars or less. Not sure about LTE vs. HSPA. I always have Wifi on so not sure if turning it off would make a difference. THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE! Hopefully a firmware update will save us. Has anyone contacted Sony?

Yes it does make a difference. Turn it off and everything should work.

Thanks for the info, but this isn't a viable solution! I shouldn't have to keep Wifi off to ensure I receive my calls/texts!
So I've had the S6 since release and I've been on T-Mobile since January 2014. I've had the Xperia Z1S, Nexus 5, LG G3, iPhone 6, and now the S6, and I never had problems with my data speeds/reception till I got this phone. It drops more calls, has 5 bars but has barely usable data speeds, and it just outright sucks. I never really noticed because I'm on WiFi usually, but this time I went on vacation to Clearwater, Florida which has great reception for T-Mobile customers, and having no WiFi was seriously painful using this phone. I should also note that I have to constantly re-send messages even when I have 2-3 bars as they fail.
Does anyone else have this problem? What can I do to fix the issue?
I'm running the stock ROM with no root or anything other than using Nova Launcher Prime btw.
Thanks.
How much data did you use last month and this month?

Last month 1 GB (I have a 3 GB plan) and this month I used 3, but I started using data from my data stash so that shouldn't matter. It's not throttling, I would know the difference.

If you think he is being throttled, remember he also has to resend messages, which sounds like a radio problem. Some devices simply have bad radios, and there is nothing that can be done besides exchanging it.
If you were on a custom rom (especially based on the international S6), this would be sorta expected because some roms don't have the correct T-Mobile APN. But rooted stock should not be having these issues.
This is what I would do. Go to your nearest T-Mobile store and explain the situation to a rep. Then ask the rep to do a network speed test on his phone, then do the same test on your S6 and show him the crappy results. Then ask him if he would be happy with the results. When he shakes his head no, ask him to exchange the phone.

Oh okay, I was thinking you had the unlimited plan and went over the 10 gb mark. A few months ago Tmobile started "prioritization" which means if you used 10+gb and it's "peak hours" they kick you to the back of the line to get data. Sorry I can't help you hope you find a answer.

Let's pretend he is being throttled or prioritised just for this question. Would having volte turned on change your answer? I think volte kicks on based on 4g reception not data speeds.

If so, then every person with a T-Mobile S6 with VoLTE enabled should have crappy download speeds and problems sending messages. I don't see that being the case.

Not really, it's only the major offenders in high usage areas getting hit right now but I could see somebody slipping through the cracks. Obviously this isn't the case for the op because he doesn't have unlimited.

I will try that.
It sucks there is no way to reset the APN or radio anymore.

Not sure about the radio but you can reset the apn, you might need to create a new apn before the option is avaliable. I have the default apn and a ipv4 apn, if I click on more in the apn selection window I have a reset option.

Do you know what the settings are so I can create one manually?
I just did a speedtest to a server I use in Pittsburgh constantly. 483ms 2.95mbps down and 0.41mpbs up. Something is definitely up with my phone.

I did the settings you gave me and now it seems to be stuck on 4G. I'm going to go outside and see if it'll get LTE back, I have great coverage where I work so. It seems like I have 4 bars instead of 2 though since I did that, so we'll see.

Sometimes after creating a apn you need to reselect lte/wcdma/gsm under network mode.
*edit*
Should probably note that dun is no longer needed in the apn and hipri probably won't help data speed in fact it might hurt speeds depending on how tmobile handles it.

I have the same isssues as the op, except i can prove theres a problem with it. I have the lg G4 and the tmobile s6 and i get better speeds on my G4 than my s6.
First two are the lg and the second two are the GS6.
same problem here, on original s6 and replacement s6 :-/
I'm not sure if it's because the 5.1.1 update is rolling out or not but today my service is HORRIBLE. Everywhere I usually get full bars full 4G LTE...I'm getting either EDGE or no service at all. Rebooting, toggling airplane mode, etc... no fix for me. Any one else?
