Hello, excuse my poor english.
I changed my S7 Edge for a P20 Pro one week ago and I noticed that I have nearly all my contacts in double in the "Contact" tab of the phone. I know that it's because I have the WhatsApp Sync ON but I use Whatsapp a lot and I need to sync my contacts often because I add new ones frequently (so even if I turn the WhatsApp sync OFF, I'd need to turn it ON to add new mobile contacts on my WhatsApp). And even if I turn the sync OFF, how would I make these contacts dissapear now from Contact tab on the phone ? I also tried to "merging duplicate contacts" option, but it just shows "No duplicate contacts".
I didn't have this problem with my S7 Edge and it is annoying. I hope some of you can help me, thanks !
its a easy fix bro! Go to the dialer app and open it up. When its open press the 3 dot more tab, in the right bottom. Now you pick "Display Preferences" and select the source you want to display in the 2nd option called accounts.

I got my Diamond last Thursday and have been using it with my secondary sim whilst I got used to the phone and became used to using it intuitively... I am happy to say I am now completely comfortable with it and it is *almost* perfect!
Changes:
*Bepe 0.97 FIXED
*Diamond Advance Config tool
*S2U2
*Comm Manager advance.
Thank you to all the great people working to made this device all it should be! Donations forthcoming very soon!
I have just a few questions with regard to my remaining issues:
*The contacts summary page which comes up after ending a call, any way to suppress that?
*Is there any way to bluetooth contacts, files (pictures/music etc) to and from another mobile phone? I tried transferring a jpg image, an MP3 ringtone and a contact via bluetooth from a Sony Ericsson W880i but all three failed!
*Is there any way to display contacts as FORENAME SURNAME as opposed to SURNAME, FORENAME?
Thank you in advance for any advice regarding the above
Anyone?????
Think I might be able to help you out there.
1. To get rid of that contacts thing at the end of a call, tap Phone on the Home screen, then tap Menu and then Options. Go to the Advanced tab right at the end and untick "Add new phone number to Contacts at end of call".
2. To receive files of any kind over bluetooth, you have to have Bluetooth turned on in the Comm Manager, but you also need to have the Beam option turned on. If you have the modified Comm manager then you should be able to see the Beam option in there.
3. All my contacts show up as "forename surname" already, I think it might be to do with how you have it set up in Outlook, because I remember Outlook had it "surname, forename" by default and that drove me mad until I changed it. Hunt around in Outlook to change the way they're displayed, then do a sync, and I'd say that should do it.

Thanks for taking the time to reply Dave!
The contact summary still seems to come up I did untick this box a few days ago and maybe its a bug but the screen still appears on finishing a call.
I turned on Beam and the bluetooth file transfer now works just fine, thank you!
I will sync up when I get home and have a play around with Outlook, thanks for the suggestion I think that will remedy this problem too.
Is there an advanced contact manager or SMS manager out there by chance? Sending and receiving a few SMS today and the whole transition from TF3d to the WM is a bit jarry, and browsing contacts isnt really possible without the stylus... so far these are the only small niggles in day to day use! The latest version of S2U2 really helps usability and allows you to lock the hardware buttons when you get an incoming call... no more calls answered by mistake with this app!
No bother.
I never manually browse the contacts list because it scrolls very strangely, its impossible to successfully pick a contact.
The best way to select a contact when sending a text, I've found, is to type the first letter or two of their name, eg "DA" and then everyone with a name starting with DA is listed, eg DAD, DAVE etc. Much better than scrolling a list. Its the same behaviour when making a call and you want to select a contact; just bring up the Phone app (the one with the keypad) and start typing their name on the number pad.
I agree though that the process of moving from TF3D to WM6 when sending a text is very clunky. I wonder would HTC consider developing their own TouchFlo messaging software that covers all aspects of sending SMS and email. Unfortunately the iPhone still has the advantage there; you still have to get out the stylus every now and then on the Diamond.
I have most of my most frequently used numbers under the People tab in TF3D... good suggestions as above though.
May give this a try if I cant get along with the SMS...

Will have a search to see user opinions
ok so I know the captivate won't allow me to choose which gmail contact groups to sync (although other phones do, wtf), and I've told it to only display contacts with phone numbers, and I've also chosen to display only a certain group.
my problem is when choosing a contact to send and sms to it shows ALL contacts so I have a bazillion sale****@craigslist.com to sort through... using the search allows me to find what I want, but as a bit of a perfectionist it bothers me that this one little hiccup is left in my setup.
is there anything to be done about this? I'm ok using a different contacts program, or even a different sms program, so long as this issue is resolved.
The Quick Contacts widget has a "Remember this Choice" option that I set for a couple contacts and can't reverse. If your contact has several phone numbers, for example, if you check that option box and then select the home phone, for example, from then on the widget will automatically call the home phone without presenting you the list of phone numbers to pick from.
Does anyone know how to "unselect" that option? I'd like to be able to go back to getting the list of phone numbers instead of automatically calling the one I "remembered". I've tried removing the contact and then adding it again without success.
Thx!
I have no idea what is going on, or why it started, but I've had this issue since I got my Droid 3, and I hoped that when I got my Droid 4, it would stop...
My phone is assigning random facebook pictures to people as their caller ID picture. I will get a phone call from friend A, and it will show the picture of friend B, or some other random facebook picture.
If I assign a picture to a contact on my phone (such as one I took with the camera), if I receive a call it will show the picture correctly, however, if I dial that person it will show some other random facebook picture.
For some people, the picture comes up correctly, but for many it does not.
Certainly there is some cache somewhere I can clear to fix this, right?
If you have FB contacts syncing, the phone will try to auto pair them with your Google contacts.
Mine tries to tie my info that I have in Gmail for my alternative e-mails/numbers with my dad's fb info even though our display names are listed differently(he's in fb as Billy, and my info is under William)
If that's what's wrong to fix it, in contacts go into the contact that is messed up. Hit menu, and look for separate(under more).
Alright, so I am still having this problem, even after uninstalling the facebook apps...
I want to clear my Contacts Storage, but in Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Contacts Storage the "clear data" button is grayed out.
Any way to clear this WITHOUT doing a factory data reset?
Thanks!
Have you tried joining the contacts (I assume they are already joined), then setting the google profile as Default? That will make their name and photo the one you assigned to the google contact. Let me know if that works.
Hi, I may be blind or something, but since I use Samsung phones, I always had the ability to show only some contact that I can select from (phone/google/smasung groups...). I can still see the "manage shown contacts" (IDK the real english name but you get the idea) in the Contacts app settings, just on top of the name format (first name/last name). But in Pie, I can't find this option anymore, so I have all my Google contacts with phone numbers, even those I don't want to be displayed right away. Did they just ditched this option completely, and why? It was there for years, just bring it back... And also, I know I can install 3rd parties contact apps but heck, habits are habits.
Hmmm, I see various options to show/create contacts and groups and accounts. Looking in Samsung Contacts settings
Well it isn't displayed at all on my Note9 anymore. Here I posted two screenshots, one of my S7E with Android Oreo 8.0 and the other is my Note9 with Android Pie. I'm missing the option named "Contacts à afficher" (Displayed contacts). Do you see it on your phone?
