Best Pie ROM + Kernel Combo? - Xiaomi Redmi 4X Questions & Answers

Anybody have got the perfect combo for Pie rom? Can you share it to me and another?

In my opinion you will have to try it on your own, there are several ROMs and custom kernel with their different usage,advantage/disadvantage. some ROMs are based on stock kernel or some use custom kernel such as gabriel or rockstar or might be some other ones. there is none of single Android Pie ROM for Redmi 4X is currently fully stable(but they are almost stable and almost everything is working) and they constantly getting updates in interval of week or month with new features.
maybe someone could help you out if you could be more specific about features and functions you are looking for?
i have tried havoc os and arrow os with rockstar kernel and they did worked great in terms of battery backup.(now both of them have rockstar kernel as default)

Best cutom ROMs for Santoni

Hi I just got a new Redmi 4x and finally managed to unlock it. What Custom ROMs are best in terms of battery life and stability? Oreo or otherwise?
I think best oreo roms are AOSP Extended 5.3 and Nitrogen OS
I'm aware of the latest Oreo roms and I know recently Xiaomi has released the source code for the santoni phone but still no rom is perfect, specially the Oreo ones, so I'm looking for the closest aosp/stock experience I can get with full compatibility, I think a nougat based rom will do fine but wich one?
I'm planning to install a rom, install greenify, have a good battery life, have more free space and still have full camera, gps and other compatibility with no issues.
Wich rom could you recommend me?
Thanks in advance.

Lineage is not updated. Use latest ROMs like Nos and pe
I had this same question when I bought my Redmi 4X.
I tried a bunch of the custom roms available and now I can say that the best is 8.1.0 Nitrogen OS
It's my daily driver and I have no complains about it
Xiaomi.eu rom
I tried every rom on nougat and oreo roms, and can guarantee that this build of Lineageos 14.1 is the fastest and battery also good, using that with nethunter kernel with enabled autosmp and it gives me 3 days of usage with 7-9 hours of screen usage

Oreo roms seems a lot buggy and not smooth as 7.1.2 roms, amd in 7.1.2 roms i prefer this
Link to kernel - https://yadi.sk/d/wGkzaIcp3U6gZv
Pixel experience
xiaomi.eu is by far more stable one.
In Oreo there a not 100% good roms yet, still on permissive SElinux.
And aosp Nougat based roms.. tried RR/AEX/LOS/crdroid and they are about perfect(rr is my prefered)
Go fr RR NOUGAT. No complaints here

Stable Treble ROM

hi i own a mi 4x as a backup device and currently its on PixelExperience (non-treble) ROM. I have to use the device for several days and i would like to flash a Treble ROM. So i dont have alots of time to test various ROMs. So what im asking is kindly point me some most stable Trebelized ROM. i dont mind its weather 8.1 or 9.0. i wanna use a stable ROM.
Thanks
I hope you are referring to Xiaomi Redmi 4X if so then go for DOT OS 2.4 or HAVOC OS both ROM are based on Android 8.1 are much stable and have decent battery life. (haven't tried them with custom kernel but have learned that they give good battery life with it)
Android Pie based ROMs are quite good too but they do have bugs but can be use as for daily use ROM.
I am currently using official HAVOC OS 2.0 based on Android Pie it does have bugs too but they aren't major ones.
Sorry for the off-topic, Oreo Havoc OS is not on XDA, correct? I've searched and couldn't find it, only Pie version. Is this the Oreo version you mean @metelhammer?
https://sourceforge.net/projects/havoc-os/files/santoni/
Yes, this is the official Havoc OS download link.
Havoc 2.0 is based on Android Pie which is -> Havoc-OS-v2.0-20180903-santoni-Official.
All other old zips are based on Android Oreo.
As for now only first zip is Android Pie and all old builds are Oreo ones.
Later they should be named as Havoc OS 2.0.
Everything clear, thank you for your help!
Do you find Havoc 2.0 stable enough for daily use?
Your welcome ?
Yes, it is quite good for daily use certainly it has bugs but they aren't major ones.
Compared to Android Oreo based Havoc OS it has less customization but that's totally fine considering it is first build.
I am using it since when it released.
Battery life is quite decent not that good, I get around 6 hours of SOT and I haven't tried any kernel with it so it might give good battery backup with it.
On mobile data as usual like all other custom ROMs battery life isn't that good.
ROM is smooth though and can be use as daily driver.
Thank you very much for all the info @metelhammer
I've tried Havoc 2.0 last night, but my microphone didn't work, so I went back to Havoc Oreo, everything fine for now.
I think I'll just wait for a stable enough Pie build, can't wait for it though :highfive:
Microphone didn't worked that's strange, it is working fine here.
No problem I am too waiting for future update, cheers!
I have tried most roms on redmi 4x. My recommendation is Lineage 15/14

witch rom and kernel should i use?

Hello guys.. yesterday I bought to my girlfriend a new mobile phone and I got from her the old one... And that is the mighty Mi max 2 ...
Please feel free to inform - advice me which rom and kernel is complete best for mi max 2 end which Google camera APK you use for better shots..
Thank you all.
You can use pixel experience rom with hardrock pie kernel for best performance and battery life along with gcam support
I've tested tonns of roms for Max 2 and now I'm on stock developer ROM with root and latest kernel from Hard_Rock. If you want gcam then install it using root, if you want smth else - then you can also install it via root.
This is my opinion of the best for this phone.
ArrowOS is most stable ROM currently. Using that paired with Hard Rock's latest Pie kernel will give you the best build. Pixel's Gcam is already baked into the firmware as well so you won't need to flash the modded Gcam like before.
i also have tried lot of custom roms and so far works for me best PixelExperience
I am also fan of hardrock roms and his roms are awesome and well optimized.
HERE THERE ARE FEW SCENARIOS:
a) IF U WANT TO UPGRADE TO NEW ANDROID VERSION AND U DON'T HAVE ISSUE DEALING WITH IN CALL VOLUME(oreo was joke):
Here are best pie roms:
1) for well round best balanced rom with balanced extra features go for arrow
2) for best plain and simple roms almost like stock , go for pixel experience or lineage
3) if u want huge extra features and u like to play with more and more features then go for havoc
** Kernel should be hardrock v1.6 for pie .great backup with speed even beats flagship devices in normal performance
b) IF U DONT WANT EVEN ONE SINGLE BUG AND DONT MIND STUCK AT NOUGAT THEN:
1) Best will be miui since no bugs, best sounds, everything is fine..you can choose between different miui modded roms..every rom is almost same
2) if u r custom rom lover then go for lineage 14.1 enforcing..best simple rom yet in nougat or Xenonhd (remarkable) which is best overall quality and media with customisations.
**Kernel always be hardrock kernel since top notch performance and huge control over kernel..u can get maximum out if ur device lol.
Hopefully above suggestions will help:laugh:

You created a whole thread for a simple discussion dear.. and even in ROM, KERNEL AND RECOVERIES DEVELOPMENT GROUP,
YOU MUST CREATE THE THREAD IN MI MAX 2 DISCUSSION GROUP..
pls try to ask these things in any development post , rather then creating a whole new thread for such simple questions..
Thanks you..

Best custom rom

Hello guys now I have Havoc Os but I notice there have been lots of problems with it so what's the other best custom rom for this phone pixel experience?
PE happens to be the most stable for use as a daily driver. Unless LOS 16 arrives officially.
It's weird that I am replying now but nothing is best. It depends on user needs. BTW you can try ROMs like Lineage or You can go with some GSI's
AND today what would be the best custom ROM? I would like an effective OTA with a minimum of bugs.

Rom suggestion(newbie)

Hi folks,
I just bought Redmi K20 pro(indian variant)
I am going to unlock it's bootloader soon, already familiar with custom rom and stuff was using havoc on op3t before,I just want a custom rom with some features, should be stable and updated frequently (once per month is okay for me),Any suggestions are welcome
I've installed evolution x, works everything smooth and a lot of customisations. Give it a try.
None are completely stable yet and I don't think any are at the level before the move to Android 10.
I prefer my AOSP ROMs to come without GApps baked in, so my recommendation is Havoc. Seems the most stable to me, though still not at the level it was at when it was 2.x PIe based. Go for the @alex9yust developed version, currently the best and most actively developed.
Thank You Guys!
