Is this the right place for Samsung note 9 T-mobile? - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Hello All,
It has been a while since I returned back to the forms and seems kinda hard to find the path. . . .
Is this the right place for Samsung note 9 Tmobile? if not, can someone please point me to the correct forums for the T-mobile users who has the Samsung Note 9 Smartphone.
I see a lot of threads for Verizon and ATT and I don't want to be in the wrong place.
Like everyone else, I want to dig into the threads and root my Note 9.

Yes this is the correct place, the threads aren't broken up by carrier anymore also unless you have the Exynos version (which I assume you do not because you said that's on T-Mobile) Root is not available for the Snapdragon variant and I believe it hasn't been since the Galaxy S7?

The Note8 had root... I had a SD Note8 and used the Samfail method to root.

acctualy, the forum is not wrong but your phone is.
so if you thought about rooting it, then you bought the wrong note 9 model.

Yup! You're in the right place! However, there is no root for the US Note 9s with the Snapdragon processor. Only the international versions have unlockable bootloaders and/or root. But the problem with an international version is no warranty and you won't have as great of a signal due to differences in supported radio bands and lack of carrier aggregation. Though some people in the US have had luck with them.
Also once you unlock the bootloader and root, you break Knox, which is permanent. Once that happens you'll never have Samsung Pay, Secure Folder, etc...again.

The Note 8 HAD root. Samfail was patched long ago when Oreo came out. The developer of Samfail said it was impossible to root the Note 8 now.

Yeah, but he'll lose carrier aggregation, so poorer signal strength, and US Warranty. And once rooted, Samsung Pay, etc.

What I want to do, but not in any specific order
Glad I made it here!!!
Thanks for the reply everyone who chimed in.
Here we go again with the no "root" from the 7 edge to this . . .
T-Mobile had this promotion that was hard to pass up so I upgraded.
What I want to do, but not in any specific order
Root
De-Bloat the bundled apps that I will not use
Install recovery tools
Install backup tools (need root)
Pimp out the kernel
It take me awhile to navigate around XDA to look for these tools and such.
I have never used Samsung Pay nor am I onboard with that service.
If anyone knows where I can find some of these tools, please don't hold back because it will take me awhile to get started.
Thanks Again!

appart from using adb to disable packages, none of the above list is possible without root.
nothing has changed regarding if the device is unrootable then these things aren't possible.

YOU
CAN'T
ROOT
THIS
PHONE.
Root is not possible. Root will not be possible. You bought a phone that can't and won't be rooted. The developer of Samfail said it was impossible.
You can't have root.
Just in case you want to root the T-Mobile Note 9...you can't.

Ok, no one has provided a root or cooked a Kernel . . .
Are there any rooted roms that were baked?
Silly to ask, but are there any pure android roms for this Note 9?

I'm not sure why you're so confused. The bootloader can be unlocked. So no custom ROMs. NONE. There is no root and never will be.
What you're asking is impossible.

[Q] Rooting the new AT&T version of the NOTE

Hi All...waiting for UPS to deliver my pre-ordered Note from AT&T. I use Titanium Backup and also Amazon Appstore so I definitely need to root my Note...Do I use the methods already posted here on the forums? Or will it be different seeing as this is the US version of the phone? Don't want to mess anything up by using the wrong method to root. Also, what about ROMS? Can we use any that are already out there or do we need to wait until the official release of the AT&T Note for the Devs to start cooking for us?
Thanks in advance for any help.
i dont think anyone has the att version yet. so no test has been done
Try rage against the cage method with one click root. Dont bother with the cf kernel root and custom rom here. Unlike the old days of captivate and galaxy. Note is very different between these two models .
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
Please be careful when doing any mods on the at&t version of the note.
The chipsets are different. I think there is a thread somewhere warning not to
update the rom on the i717 (at&t) with the international (N7000) note and vice
versa. The exploit for one might not work on the other.
Might be best to start a thread on the at&t note forum, just to be safe.

[Q] Status on GT-I9295 root?

I cannot find any proper information on whether or not the GT-I9295 can be rooted or not. Googling gives me all kinds of webpages dated back in late August claiming that it can be done, but I've also come across a lot of pages saying it's not possible to root the GT-I9295 using the instructions for the AT&T version of the S4 Active.
I hoped the xda forum would give me more info, but no... unfortunately not.
Has anyone got any help to offer me on this matter? Can it be rooted? If so, anyone got a proper working howto to link to?
Thanks in advance.
Follow this guide: http://honai-android.blogspot.nl/2013/08/how-to-root-galaxy-s4-active-i9295-on.html
Or just visit:
http://geohot.com/activeroot
and grab the apk, install it, run it, done, in like 1-2 seconds.

Super thanks for this guide, whizz Worked like a charm. I had already taken a quick look at this very guide a few days ago, but was afraid to try it, because it was using the CF-Auto-Roo for the I9505, and I was a little scared it might break my phone.
To be honest, there should be a sticky on confirmed (working) root procedures for the I9295. I've had a hard time finding proper information on this. Not only in this forum, but elsewhere on the net was well.
FYI I tried the geohot a couple of weeks ago, but it didn't work on my phone.
Unless there's something funky with the device, activeroot (so named for a reason) should root any Samsung Galaxy S4 Active in a second or two at most, any variant produced so far. If you got rooted without it, fantastic but activeroot should have worked without a single issue on a stock ROM... interesting.
Only thing it's not working with right now is 4.3 based stuff, and maybe if we're lucky geohot will drop an updated activeroot at some point, at least that's my hope since we have the 4.3 pre-release ROM for our AT&T I537 variant now to play with.
But then again, 4.3 does make some changes to things, and with Samsung pushing Knox on end users pretty hard, we could be approaching a time where rooting a device - let alone unlocking the bootloader - might become just another thing of the past.

The only way to MAYBE flash ROMS is still in ALPHA testing and it is not a true flash but a way to load ROMS and fake the boot system.
Currently there is no way to flash ROMS to this phone.

From what i saw in the thread about safe strap the ROMS have to be tweaked to work with safestrap so only ROMS developed around safestrap will work.. Even then it is still iffy if they will fully work.

Solarenemy68's reply seemed easy to understand to me. Are you having difficulty understanding it? In case you did not understand it...you can NOT flash ANY rom on the att N3. None. Zip. Nadda. Nothing. The bootloader is locked. Without an unlocked bootloader, you are not currently able to flash a new rom. If you do, you will brick your N3. Period.
If you want to flash new roms on a N3, you should have purchased a T-Mo N3 as that bootloader was not locked.
I hope this clarifies things for you.

Wow! Bad day at work?
We can flash roms using safe strap recovery by @Hashcode . It works fine and even gives you "multi boot" that most devices would die for!
Roms are coming already and things are getting good. International roms can be ported. T-Mobile roms run without much of a fuss.
We CANNOT flash bootloader, kernels, or modems. But with a locked bootloader this is about as good as it gets.
If your going to give someone information, at least give them correct information.

Didn't have a bad day. Didn't intend to sound rude. Your signature indicates that you have a N9005 not a N900A. If I am mistaken, please correct me. I've had a N900A since launch day and have been following the development quite closely, I thought. While the N9005 and the N900T have unlocked bootloaders, I have not seen anything other than alpha testing for the N900A, and @Hashcode has not yet released Safestrap for the N900A.
Please post some links for loading roms onto the N900A, or apologize as it is you that seems to be providing the incorrect information that can potentially damage someone's device. If you are correct about SAFELY flashing roms onto the n900A, I will post an apology to you and the OP.
Thank you.

Does Xposed exist for my phone?

Hey guys,
One of the main reasons I always want to root my phone, is not so I can customize the look and feel of it. My main reason is so I can have Xposed framework on it. I had xposed on my first rooted phone (verizon galaxy s5) and I loved it.
Later I got a verizon samsung galaxy s7 and unfortunately they could not crack that nut so there never was a version of xposed compatible with my s7.
Well now I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (snapdragon) and thanks to samfail I can easily root my phone but is there no version, whether official or unofficial of xposed available or under development for this phone? Or does the locked bootloader prevent it from ever becoming a reality? Thanks guys.

I don't have this device but, have you tried performing a search (or posted this question) within the following area of the forum that's specific to your device?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8
XPosed only requires a properly rooted device and not an unlocked bootloader because it doesn't affect the bootloader of a device.
I did notice on one or two threads regarding the Magisk XPosed working as well for your device.
Good Luck!

n960n flashing

hi guys i am having a problem right now. my first note 9 was a n9600 snapdragon hk variant it was replaced by the vendor due to factory defect and was replace by a n960n single sim 512gb special edition model. my question is, is it possible to flash this with other official firmware to remove bloatwares from KTc to let say other exynos model? thank you in advance.

nope.( maybe with adb commands you can manualy disable/delete packages)https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access
if you root then you can do what ever but if not, then you are stuck. all 4 firmwares/carriers available for the n960n have bloat. And no you cant flash with odin an n960f stock firmware.

well i am not sure if for example LG+ ( LUC ) would have more 'english' menus but you can try.... yeah LG has a carrier and they sell Samsung phones! my note 8 was a N950N LUC and on the box there was an LG+ logo !
past 2 phones have been Korean models that i specifically bought and have not had any issues or defects. I always root and it has been quite easy because it has the OEM unlock option right away, no need to wait 7 days.
also since i dont need knox or samsung pay, root is the way to go for me. so much fun i wouldint live without rooting.
i guess root is the way. i dont need knox and samsung pay either because its not usable in our country and no merchant here supports it. thanks @bober10113. and last can you put me in the direction of the guide to root my phone? again thank you so much.

once twrp is installed all bets are off. knox will be tripped.
but this will allow you to install magisk disable or delete bloat.
if this is not enough then you will be able to download a new rom.
a rom is a custom firmware. so you could get a rom that has everything you are looking for. usualy all roms for exynos and for N960F/ds. they will also contain full english locale.
have a look in this thread and see which Rom suits you better:

once twrp is installed, fone is considered as being modified. so might aswell take advantage of root.
And if i remember correctly to be able to boot into system, right now on the note 9 you need magisk to be flashed in twrp recovery.
so there issint really a way around it for now.( others can confirm or correct me on this).
alexander rom might be the exception though. read thread and post questions there if need be concerning a rootless install.
but magisk su has an 'su hide' feature where it will hide the system modification and root status from certain apps. you can even hide magisk from specific apps too. so if you need to install specific software that only runs in stock unmodified systems, it may very well work if these features are enabled correctly.
thank you ver much @bober10113. will check those threads. and go on with twrp magisk custom rom combo.
