Hey,
I am using the motorola xt860 droid 3. Owned it for about a month.
Each time i try streaming a video from youtube for example, it streams for about 10-40secs, then wifi disconnects and error comes up saying "cannot play video". As soon as the video stream closes off (due to error), the wifi begins to reconnect and connects successfully once again.
The problem is not the wifi network because someone else streams video from their iphone as normal.
This only recently started occuring. Please help.
Thanks
Have you tried streaming using your XT860 on a friend's wifi network? Or a hotspot? Does the same issue occur?
Or... I know you don't want to mess with your wifi network, but have you checked if there is a firmware update for your wireless router? Back when I had my Desire Z i had a similar problem, then after updating my firmware on my wireless router, I didn't experience the problem any more. Good luck!
Hey,
Well apparently the problem was with the internet connection/router. I was on an offshore rig and the internet connection was not the best. Because now that im back home, on my own wifi connection, the problem is not happening again.
Thanks for the info, if it ever happens again i would be sure to try that.
Thanks alot.
I have an unrooted OG Droid running on stock Froyo (2.2.3). It's off-contract, but I have been using it by connecting to my wifi router (Netgear WNDR3700). Everything has been working fine until Friday when it stopped connecting to my wifi router. I tried reconnecting, but it cannot seem to find the router at all, even if I'm standing right next to it. My router does not appear on the list of available wi-fi networks when I look at Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Wi-fi settings. The strange thing is that it seems to pick up all of the other wi-fi networks from my neighbors without any problems; it just can't seem to find my wifi router.
All of my other Android devices (Nexus S, Evo 3D, Galaxy Tab, Logitech Revue) can find and connect to my router without any problems. It's just as though the router doesn't even exist from the perspective of the OG Droid. I haven't made any recent configuration changes on any of my devices or router. My other wi-fi devices (laptops, printer) don't have any issues finding and connecting to my router either.
I've tried rebooting, pulling the battery, etc. without any luck. Any ideas?
By chance did you unplug the router, my og DROID loses wifi sometimes and even though phone sees it won't connect but usually resetting router gets it to reconnect.

I haven't done that yet, because as far as I can tell, the router is working fine. The issue that I'm seeing differs from yours as the phone doesn't even see the router right now.
It's a bug in Android. Delete all the remembered wifi accounts on the phone and then you should be able to scan again. Once you scan, it should pick up the router again. Had this happen on a couple different android devices.

I gave this a try, but it didn't work. I can still see all of the other available wi-fi networks near me, but not my own router. Any other thoughts?

I've had this with my router whenever i reset it.
its because there are too many routers in your area on the same wifi channels . change the channel your router is on until its one with less or no routers on it and it will appear eventaullly.

I have same problem with you.
My LWW cannot find/detect the home wifi, but another device (laptop and samsung galaxy mini) can work well with the wifi network.
but my LWW can find another wifi network except my home network. but sometimes when I don't use the LWW for long time, and when I started to turn the wifi on, it can work well. but after I stopped the connection and start to use the wifi again, it cannot find the network again
I just had the same problem and fixed it.
Sometimes routers are configured to select and use the less crowded wireless channel. That can cause your wifi to eventually use channel 12 or 14. Like sleepyguy007 said, it is more likely to happen if there are too many wifis in the area and all channels are crowded.
As far as I know, Android devices are by default configured to scan only up to channel 11. So if the wifi is in 12 or 14, it will not be recognized.
Go to the wifi config screen, where all the networks are listed. There, with the menu button, go to "Advanced"->"Regulator domain" and set Android to scan all 14 channels, that should do the trick.
I hope that is the cause of the problem and you can fix it... Otherwise it could be a bug, and the solution may be harder
I'm so happy & surprised!!!
I had same problem and with your helps(phobophille & sleepyguy007) my problem solved:laugh: :fingers-crossed: :good:

my device is not showing any network on my device to connect wifi.
i have tried everything but the problem is same . not a single network is appearing in my device. all others are connected to the same. in my phone in advanced setting it is showing ipv4 address is unavailable. plz suggest something.
At first I thought I may have had a faulty device, but I've been messing around and testing things, and I've concluded that my phone is causing my wifi router to lose connectivity. If I turn the wifi off on my HTC the router works fine with all other devices (laptop, iphone5, google tv) but once I turn the wifi on I lose connection briefly. I connect to wifi fine and my router shows a stable connection, but as soon as I start to browse or stream anything I will lose connection for about 20 seconds across all devices. I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to networks, so I'm a bit dumbfounded. I've tried changing DNS servers, set IP to static, reserved DHCP in my router settings, but nothing is working. Does anybody have any suggestions?
My Chromecast was working flawless on my laptop, tablet, and phone. 3 days later, my phone's wifi doesn't work when Chromecast is connected to my wifi. My tablet and laptop's wifi works fine though. When Chromecast is off, my phone's wifi works fine.
I restarted the router and the problem persists. I haven't changed any settings on my phone.
Anyone know why this is happening?

The only thing I can think of is to make sure your phone isn't trying to connect ad-hoc to your Chromecast (it does this for initial setup). Otherwise make sure there aren't any router settings that conflict between the two devices.
Your issue sounds similar to mine. What I have happening is, whenever I select a video from my phone it will play for a varied amount of time but then stop. I will look at my phone and it is disconnected from my wifi and the icon turns grey. I have to then toggle airplane mode to get it to reconnect. When this happens every device on my network gets kicked off of my network. Now I am running a custom rom on my phone and have data issues throughout the day. So, I don't know if it is because of this or if anyone else is having issues like this.

I have issue with browser, on my pc i set up Chromecast it worked fine but i can not see the chromecast in the browser, can anyone help please?
Thanks
Hi, when I woke up today I noticed my phone wasn't connected to my wifi anymore. I checked the router after restarting it, and restarting the phone, and all of my other devices are connected normally to both separated networks. I started looking through the wifi list, and all I could see is my 2.4ghz network. It is able to connect to that and it works normally. I checked wifi analyzer and I couldn't see any 5ghz networks when using it, only 2.4ghz. I read someone mentioning a snap in Lego style connector related to wifi, is this a possibility? I'm able to take apart the phone, and I need a battery anyway probably. Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated
