(I accidentally posted to the wrong forum this morning (Butterfly Q&A) which is why I'm reposting it here, mods.)
Just got my One yesterday and I have an extensive music library stored with Google Music. As you have to use their app to play streamed music stored on their service, I noticed that even with maximum volume settings, it is not playing as loud as I hoped through the speakers. Headphone volume is fine and also other apps like YouTube play loud so it's not apparently the phone, but apparently limitations in the Play Music app? It makes no difference with beats on or off and yes, I have maximum volume set for "media and music" in settings plus the volume rocker on the phone is set to max. Does anyone know of an app I can use with Play Music to increase the sound when using the speakers and has anyone else noticed this?

Thanks for the suggestion jay and I've used Poweramp before and it works good. The only problem is that you're forced to use Google's "Play Music" app to play your music stored on their servers AFAIK. I guess I can just transfer some to the phone outright and use poweramp.
Has anyone else here had luck installing and using a third party equalizer and google play music?
I am having difficulty using a third party equalizer. Google Play Music seems to ignore the equalizer every time a new song starts. However, if I skip the song to to the middle, the equalizer kicks back in. I can't seem to find much info about other people having this problem.
Steps to reproduce
1. Disable Audio Effects
2. Install and start a third party equalizer
3. Play a song in Google Play Music
4. Skip to the middle of the song
5. Press the next or previous song button
The audio goes back to "unequalized".
Things I have tried
1. Freezing Audio Effects
2. Installing multiple third party equalizers
3. Rebooted multiple times
4. Unistalled Google play Music updates
5. Disabled many apps
6. Disabled no aps
Other Info
* Moto X
* Verizon
* Rooted
* All Access music subscription
have you tried VIPER4Android? Its got its own thread on this forum if you search for it. Its the best EQ I've used. I also ran into EQ issues with gMusic but this one works great. I have an S4, not a Moto X but it should work anyway.
Actually just finished installing V4A. I can get it it kick in but then if I restart the song or it goes to the next song, it stops.
I can't get local pinned music to use any equalizer at all. V4A "driver status" says that its not processing.

What equalizer are you using? I have awesome beats with nexmusic, you have to find the right combination, if my memory serves me right, play music would fc when I used awesome beats. I'm firing play music up with awesome beats. I let you know if I have any FC's with awesome beats. Nexmusic is very similar to Apollo music, sleep timer and you can access the equalizer quickly unlike playmusic
Edit: no FC's with play music and awesome beats I also left all other equalizers active. I did nor freeze or remove Audio effects , also have music fx and noozioxide

I have tried about 5-8 different equalizers. I mostly use my phone to listen to the Play All Access stuff.
When I use Google Play Music or the built-in Music app I'm able to access the SoundAlive Equalizer to make adjustments. However, I see no way to access and equalizer from the SiriusXM app, nor do I see a way to set universal SouldAlive settings. Is there any way to do so, and if not does anyone recommend and equalizer that would apply uniform settings for all apps? I tried adjusting the SoundAlive equalizer settings via Google Play Music's interface to it while the SiriusXM app was playing, but doing so made no difference (whereas it has an obvious effect when Google Play Music or the built-in Music app are playing).
Installed viper4android to increase headphone volume. Found a way to increase the volume without the app. I have since deleted viper but now I am missing the eq on Google play music. I tried to delete and reinstall play music but no luck. Any help would be great.
I'm having this problem with apps that don't let you select the system equalizer. I suspect there is some conflict happening between the system equalizer and the app's equalizer. So far I have been able to replicate the issue in Pulsar and Apple Music.
It happens very infrequently, but sometimes when I tap on a song to play it I get a max volume spike at the beginning of the song. It's very quick but still very annoying.
Apps like Blackplayer that let me specifically select the system equalizer are working fine. Also the apps that don't have any equalizer and rely on the system equalizer work fine.
The problem is only with apps that let you turn on their own equalizer. The reason why I'd want to turn their equalizer on is that the systemwide one doesn't work with these apps.
Does anyone else face the same issue? Do you have any non-root solution?
