I currently on T-Mobile and have a dual SIM Samsung S8+. I am thinking for going to change my service to Google Fi as I travel overseas. Google Fi has a great price for Data Roaming which is charged the same as at home. The issue is that I need a dual SIM phone. I do not like to swap my SIM cards as I almost lost one while changing. Currently Google Fi list LG V35 as a Google Fi phone. I am wondering if anyone here is using LG V40 on Google Fi. I noticed on Gsmarena that LG V40 has a dual SIM version. I am thinking of getting one and use it on Google Fi.
BTW. I do know that my S8+ can work on Google Fi but it would not have the Google VPN and network switching functions on Google Fi.
Waiting for the same.... dual sim version of V40 was mentioned few times here and there but nothing official yet!
I believe every variant is a dual-sim variant. The T-Mobile variant I purchased is working just fine with T-Mobile in the primary slot and Sprint in the secondary.
Granted, I had to buy it outright and call in for an unlock after 40 days.
IMEI Question
The issue is that I am on T-Mobile and would like to switch to Google Fi. I sure would like to get an unlock version if all versions are Dual SIM. Having a combo SIM slot does not mean it is dual SIM. Does your T-Mobile version has 2 IMEIs? Are you using your T-Mobile version with T-Mobile and Sprint services or using Google Fi service?

That would be quite interesting!

Yeah my Sprint Variant is Single Sim, and that I'm aware of Sprint won't activate a T-Mobile phone let alone a GSM phone until they are officially one company...

Iphone XS in the States has only one SIM but due to a built-in eSIM, it could have 2 lines on that phone. Just wishful thinking that we could do the same on LG. I wonder if LG V40 would support eSIM?
i was reading somewere...there is active dual sim with dedicated memory card slot (triple slot 2 for sim & 1 for mmc)...is it true...???
root
Hi,
Do you think that the V40 dualsim version could be rooted?
From my knowledge the G family with dual sim option could not be rooted, V30 could be rooted
Any confirmation?
Thnaks for your help

The one that's just released in Europe has got exactly that, dual SIM + hybrid SD card slot. I'm confirming that because I had the V40 in my hand yesterday and the tray inside it is one of those dual SIM SD card hybrid ones.
It's so hard to find dual-sim info on this LG V40. Does the V405QA7 (US Unlocked) and/or V405TAB (T-Mobile) have dual-sim dual standby?

Hey all.
I ordered a moto X about 2 weeks ago, i got the unlocked Tmobile version that was on sale for 350$
anyway i live abroad and i was sure that i would be able to use the phone here (like the moto G) but i cant, it seems that the phone is ONLY unlocked for US carriers.
So my questions are:
1) is there an easy way for me to unlock it Globally for free? (Tmobile said they can do it but only from a store in the US).
2) I saw people can buy unlock codes, but my phone does not show that it is unlocked so i'm not sure if that will work..?
Any help would be very appreciated!
Tevie.
If you have the tmobile version then the phone is already sim/provider unlocked.
Which phone exactly did you get and what specific problem are you having?

I got the moto x from moto maker (picked the unlocked T-Mobile version)
The problem is that its not unlocked for Sim abroad, only in the U.S . I wanted to know how I can get it to work with a Sim not from the U.S
TMO version is supposed to be unlocked for any carrier. How do you know that it is not the case? Did you try to put non-US SIM card and it failed?

Thanks for the replay's.
I did put a local Sim in the phone and it could not register to a local networked (the same Sim worked in a different phone )
Note that it found the local networks just can't log to them.
Note 2 . TM told me that its locked for use abroad ...
It is 100% unlocked, there is no partial lock on the phone. If the phone can't register with your provider there is a different problem not related to sim locking.
I'm using my T-Mobile X in the Caribbean all fine with no hiccups or issues. Maybe it needs the APN.

I bought the T-mobile version form Moto maker, and without a problem put a Base nano sim in it. Works fine. Strangely enough it shows 4G almost everywhere... Wonder if that is correct?

Does it jsut show the 4G symbol or the 4G with the small LTE next to it? If you have HSPA service, you will see 4G.
4G it shows, which in Belgium is HSPA+

Hello all,
My Nexus 6p seems to have that Bootlooping issue, but I bought it at Best Buy so i can't RMA it. My plan is to make a Fi account for 1 month, buy a Moto X4 Android one edition, send my dead nexus 6p back to google (the trade in asks if it powers on not if it successfully boots), and then use the Moto X4 on Verizon. Has anyone successfully been using the android one version on Verizon and if so how well does it. Work? Also am i able to sign up for Fi for one month and then cancel it?
It supports all the correct LTE bands, so it should be theoretically compatible. Whether Verizon will accept it or not is another matter.
Yes, it works perfectly (if you already have an activated Verizon SIM card). To the point where VVM is built-in to the phone app and it supports HD calling.
You also don't even have to pay for a month of Fi. When you receive the phone, immediately put in your Verizon SIM card without booting up the phone, and you're good. Fi only starts charging when you activate the Fi SIM card.
Actually, now that I think about it, I'm wondering if both could be used. I already have Project Fi, and if this phone is dual-sim, could I put a data-only Verizon SIM in it to supplement the Fi coverage?
Fi uses T-mobile, Sprint, and US Cellular towers. If I were to add Verizon into the mix for an extra $20/month, that would probably be the best coverage possible, right?
Can confirm VoLTE and visual voicemail works out of the box. I haven't run into any issues as of yet :fingers-crossed:

The x4 I just received from Fi does not have a dual sim slot. The slot has room for 1 sim and 1 micro sd card. I have both inserted and the tray is full.
Does the verizon version come with a dual-sim option? Do they also allow a micro sd card?

None of the US carriers have announced they will carry the Moto X4 yet. I'd expect an announcement sometime after their earnings call this quarter if they did. I doubt they would allow dual sim on their network though. As far as a dual sim in North America, the XT1900-7 is listed as a dual-sim but idk if it's passed the FCC yet.
Code:
Motorola Moto X4 TD-LTE NA 32GB XT1900-1
Motorola Moto X4 Dual SIM TD-LTE APAC 64GB XT1900-2

Motorola Moto X4 LTE-A LATAM 32GB XT1900-4
Motorola Moto X4 Dual SIM TD-LTE EMEA 32GB XT1900-5

Quick question, if you put the Verizon sim in first, won't it update the software to make unlocking the bootloader impossible later on? I thought I read to make sure before you use the Verizon network, that you boot the phone either without the sim on wifi or with a sim from something other than Verizon so you could update the software an unlock the bootloader before Verizon slammed the door shut on you. If that's incorrect please enlighten, because I'm thinking of getting this phone to use on Verizon to replace my moto x pure.

This has not been the case, for me on Verizon, with a Moto X Pure Edition 2015, a Nexus 6P and a Moto Z2 Play (US Unlocked).
I have unlocked the bootloader and rooted all three.
are there any real differences between the dual sim and single sim? besides the obvious 2 sims vs 1 sim difference lol.
what about differences between the models (clt-al00, clt-l29, clt-l09, etc)? if it helps, I am in the USA and T-mobile. I am just trying to find the best one that covers most bands if not all and prefer dual sim. any advice and help is appreciated thank you in advance
Yes there is a difference.
The difference is one accepts one sim card and the other accepts two sim cards

Thank u for ur reply.. But I have already stated the obvious 2 sims and 1 SIM differences. Anything else besides that?
It might be possible that the only difference is the card slot. It might still work with 2 sim cards with the right sim card adapter for two sims. Afaik it worked for older models.

I have some relevant questions/thoughts on this. I noticed that some phones are listed as having band 41 and some are not (on eBay, varying model numbers of this phone). Now that T-Mobile might be roaming on Sprint and visa versa, band 41 does actually make a difference since the OP is using the phone on T-Mobile. Does anyone know if this is just a mistake on the listings? The official Huawei site lists band 40, but not band 41.

Band 41 is listed as well at least for some models. https://www.devicespecifications.com/en/model/6fe84965 another good site to see the difference between the different models is http://www.phonemore.com/huawei-p20-pro/models/1817 this one includes the different models, not all though as CLT-L04 is not included, and their specs including the bands for each of the different models. Some of them even support CDMA so in theory should be compatible with Verizon or Sprint.
I have CLT-L04

CLT-L04 is intended for the Canadian market. L29 is not so it may not have the LTE capabilities in North America while L04 would.
I thought it wasn't for sale until today (the 17th).

Just wondering will dual Sim adapter work with single Sim phone? No software that indicates any Sim settings
Single sim doesn't get updates.
I'd like to jump in here. I just got the CLT-L04 today. I just started working for a Canadian company this week and I will be stationed in the US in Atlanta. I want dual SIM capability so that I can keep my personal phone number but not have to carry 2 devices. he SIM card tray only came with the ability to support a singel SIM card. Can I just order a dual SIM card carrier? is there anything special I need to know or do on the phone to support dual SIM's?

You need to convert your phone to dual SIM variant using paid software (which may require a bootloader unlock code that Huawei no longer provides) and then use a dual SIM tray.
I did the above and my single SIM phone is now a fully functioning dual SIM phone. There's really no difference between the two variants other than software and that tray. The tray alone will not work.

Hello,
I am willing to get the new Xperia 1 II. I am living abroad, and for many reasons, I kept my native country's sim to keep my line open. Currently, I own two phones to have both lines up. But this new Xperia seams to be released with a variant getting dual sim feature which is what I am looking for so I could replace my LG V20 and LG G8 for this amazing phone.
I read online that this phone comes with different variants:
XQ-AT51
XQ-AT52
XQ-AT72
SO-51A (NTT DoCoMo)
SOG01 (AU/Okinawa Cellular)
On this website https://www.xperiablog.net/2020/04/...eria-model-number-structure-for-2020-devices/ they tend to say that this XQ-AT52 model would be the dual sim variant, but I cannot find any online resources to confirm this.
Is there anybody who knows yet what is the dual sim variant so I don't get wrong while ordering?
(I really hope it's not only the korean version to get this dual sim variant...)
Thanks!
Hello,
I come back to you guys to have some updates about this topic since now they released the phone and preorders are available, maybe someone has some details about this feature.
I really want to know if the variant sold in Europe is supporting 2 sim.
On GSMArena, they list the phone as Hybrid Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by) but on sony.de, sony.fr, sony.it they list it as SIM NUMBER
Single SIM.
On B&H bhphotovideo, the phone is proposed as Sony Xperia 1 II Dual-SIM 256GB Smartphone (Unlocked).
Why would they sell a dual sim capable in America and a single sim in Europe?

The model selling in Taiwan is XQ-AT52 with dual sim ( 5G/4G compatible ).
If you put 2 sims, it runs in 4G mode, 5G is only working when only one sim card inserted.
5G I only works with 1 SIM card inserted? That's not very good design.
Also, can you please try to switch between SIM card for data, does it require a reboot to active? I used to own Sony phones and they all require reboot when switching between SIMs, which is very inconvenience.
I use other brand dual SIM phone now and they don't require reboot when switching between SIM.

Normally it should work as previously it was like that.
but the SIM holder looks different to Xperia 1 dual Version
You don't need to reboot to change or swap sim, that's what i heard and that's why you don't need a pin to open the tray.. you just need to pull it.
I guess the tray for single sim is different but software is different too.. means software can handle dual sim..
I know some people with Samsung single sim model, they put 1 sim in tray and stick the second sim on the microsd. It becomes a dual sim with micro sd.
But you have to be very good to unstick the sim from original card and stick on the microsd without damaging your sim
HI all
has anyone found a way to keep both the Sims running even when the 1st has 5G on.. Like let the 2nd sim run at 4G or 3G atleast.. but why does the 2nd sim has to be off or go off when the first one runs at 5G.
I keep wanting to use 5G at all times on my first sim.. but why should my 2nd SIM stay off. this is mind boggling why would SONY implement this on a Premium Flagship while others Like Xiaomi and others have better sim management options even when 5G
this is the only thing stopping me from getting this phone although i love it.
on a separate note.
Also someone has any idea if the Special Frosted edition of this phone releasing in Japan with 12GB RAM will be dual or single sim ?
