custom kernel - Xiaomi Redmi 4X Questions & Answers

How can i flash custom kernel in my custom roms because when i flash custom kernel like clarity kernel or other my redmi 4x santoni get brick .....it restart several times and get stuck on mi logo ......then i have to flash stock miui rom with fastboot tool from my laptop ......
Please any one help me ..i have heard that clarity kernel is best kernel for battery backup

use the arrow rom is best rom and kernel
best battery backup too

Be careful to post you message in the good place (in Questions & answers section)
Gabriel + arrow (pie) or aicp (oreo) is a great combo. For the moment I'm on lineageos 15.1 official nightlies without any custom kernel and I get easily 7h to 9h sot with heavy mobile data enabled-disabled all the day + wifi and some games

Best rom for Redmi 4X?

I just bought a Redmi 4X and it's running MIUI.
For those who has the phone for more time already and experience. Which rom is the best for Redmi 4X in terms of performance/free ram and batery life?
MIUI? Lineage? Ressurection Remix? Other?
Use MIUI Pro/Xiaomi.EU For Best Battery Backup and Much Personalized Option in addition to MIUI.
For stock Experience, You should go for RR Official or Many Users Reports ViperOS have got them the best Battery Backup and Performance is also Good. Try Dot.OS too
I have tried some custom roms, but somehow I always end coming back to miui. For custom roms I really like mokee and the last unofficial AEX with f2fs support (I think official RR should be almost the same but right now I don't want to flash again). The problem with mokee is xposed and safety net. And AEX it feels so smooth, but after some days I noticed a drop in performance, speaking about games like asphalt Xtreme, but if you don't play games then you should be fine. Right now I'm with miui global dev 7.12.21 debloated and clarity 1.8 kernel, and I'm getting really nice battery backup without any loss in performance.
Oh and for miui, I think the best it's miui eu. But I recommend to install the 7.12.21 build. The most recent versions have bugs with notifications and camera2api. Multi pro should be good too, because if I'm not mistaken it's based on global dev, so it's already debloated and has the new notification shade.

I'm new to the Redmi 4X XDA thread here, any you tell me what's going on with this Encryption bug in TWRP ?
I've just unlocked bootloader using Mi Unlock tool and wanted to install TWRP and root to backup and then Flash RR Rom .
Do i also have to face this encryption bug as well as everyone is talking about in twrp threads ? (I've not enabled any type of encryption in MIUI. Settings are same as factory new MIUI version and use simple PIN as screen lock)
Which TWRP version should i use to have completely bug free experience ?

MIUI encrypted out of the box.
I'm on TWRP 3.1.1-0
All you have to do in order to decrypt:
Boot into TWRP recovery
Wipe
Wipe data
Format data (it will ask you to type "yes")
**You'll lose every single data in your device, so you better make a backup of your wanted files**
Make sure to disable dm verify before you boot into system (even if you just flash new ROM and GApps):
Boot into TWRP recovery
Advance
Tools
Disable dm
Cheers

Suggestions for a stable daily driver. Any help is much appreciated.

I'll try to keep it as brief as possible.
I am well versed with rom flashing and also with the xiaomi ecosystem. I own a Redmi Note 3 pro myself and I know the bootloader unlock process and other stuff.
But I have no idea about the rom scene on Mi 5. I have been only active on the Redmi Note 3 forum because that's the device I own.
The Mi 5 for which I'm courting suggestions belongs to my sister. She's tired of slow miui and it's messed up notification delivery. So she asked me to fix it.
I'm planning to flash a custom rom. I unlocked the bootloader but I have no idea about which rom to flash. I will be here only 2 more days then I'm off to college in another city, so I can't really test different roms. I just need a stable rom that I can flash and forget and that she can use without any hiccups.
Oreo roms are not that stable on most devices right now and she really doesn't care for the latest Android version. Please suggest a stable nougat rom.
Thank You.

Edit: firmware 7.9.22 because 8.1.4 has problems with playing media over headset with this rom.

I go with this kernel because the stock kernel from AospExtended has OC.

Thanks a lot!
What does OC mean?

Over clocking. I have the 32 GB model which CPU is down clocked by default to 1.8 ghz. The stock kernel in the original Aospextended is over clocked to 2.15 ghz. The SoC is capable of running this frequency btw, I just prefer the default frequency yo keep the phone from getting hot and extending battery life.
i'd say go with the cosmic os builds.excellent battery life and unlike aospextended i haven't faced any crashes.Probably set her up with the google camera hdr+ too.

PE caf or just PE?
And what kernel used? Stock or??
I was flash PE on 3 week a go and i feel battery backup is normal but no good (my expectation) and just change to syberia
On syberia first its more battery backup but was updated back to normal again. So i post this thread
All i used stock kernel
And now what youre suggest about kernel with 2 rom above??
I try flash Havoc OS latest build just now
And used stock kernel
My batt backup is normal (not bad)
I find what kernel for batt backup is so good??

Which is the best custom rom in terms of maximum battery life?

Which combination of custom rom and custom kernel gets maximum battery life?
Is f1xy kernel available for this device but in XDA there is no thread available but in GitHub it is available can I install those and it is in two versions and if can I install
Which one should I install
F1xy-Raphael-v0.25-LOSFOD.zip
F1xy-Raphael-v0.25-MI9FOD.zip
For battery, try miui. But if u dont like miui then try havoc with fixy/englezos kernel. havoc gave me better sot than evo x. And talking about kernel, if ur on aosp flash los fod
Try SuperiorOS with Immensity Kernal. It gives great battery life.. Also give Msm extended a try.

Hello Guys Newbie Here
so i have a few questions
so i have lancelot global version and i have
-unlocked bootlaoder
-flashed twrp
-downgraded from 12.5.6 to 12.0.4 (just trying to have better battery life i guess) and (have third party launcher with gestures)
-rooted with magisk
so everything good now
but i just was trying to flash custom kernel i dont know if that possible on stock miui but no luck , i have tried so many kernels neutrino, kucingkernel, whatever,... but did not work so after i flash the custom kernel the device will not boot so i have to do restore boot to make it boot normal

For custom kernels I have not any. But for customs roms, I tried a lot but I still come back to Crdroid. You check them and see what is best for you. You can even check the reviews of the roms on youtube so that you will have an idea.
