I bought the galaxy note a week back...whenever I used to carry it would always be in my pocket or on my table and bed...when I had gone out to the Sun I could observe scratches on the screen (none noticeable indoors)...and all the scratches are on the lower part of the screen...I use Swype along with my s-pen for text input..could the s-pen have done the scrstches(maybe the use of spen when there are dust particles on it)..and if i want to replace the corning's gorilla glass how much(appr) would that cost me?..and i do have minor scratches on the camera lens as it is exposed...so how much should the outer camera lens cover cost?
don't worry about it. it's not the glass that's scratched but the oleophobic coating. they are too small to be noticeable and, unfortunatly, will probably go away once the coating wears off.
Misconception 1: Gorilla Glass does not scratch???!?!?!?!?!?
Absolutely FALSE. While it's true that Gorilla Glass is scratch resistant to many materials, some will scratch Gorilla Glass. Gorilla Glass has a hardness of 7 in the Mohs scale, so any material with higher hardness, such as sand or diamond , will scratch your screen.
So, if you drop your phone, and if it happens to land on a grain of sand, it will scratch your Gorilla Glass screen. Or, if a grain a sand goes into your pocket where you keep your phone, then the screen can be scratched.
To those who didn't learn hardness scale in elementary school, materials with lower hardness than 7, such as steel knife, coins, or car keys, will never be able to scratch Gorilla Glass no matter how POINTY and SHARP it is.

so yeah no gorilla glass.... atleast they say. and they confirmed that it has the msm8274ab cpu. but then again no gorilla glass okay but the screen is hard? i had a lg l9 and the screen was just flexible plastic. it fell once on a little stone and the lcd broke, and touchscreen not i mean i could press on the lcd without any pressure. realy bad. the xiaomi mi3 atleast has a HARD screen i hope no flex/cheap plastic
I'm pretty sure that it has gorilla glass 3. I've got it since february without any case and the screen is perfect. If it fell in a stone, you can say goodbye to the glass, but is the same with every smartphone, you must be careful.
i think there is a different between scratch resistant and shatter proof, and gorilla glass 3 is a scratch resistant.
Maybe not gorilla glass but something els.
But the screen is good? I mean its hard just Like gorilla glass?
And my lg L9 slipt out of my hands and fell on a rock. Little one but for that cheap plastic screen was enough to bend and touch the lcd and break it. I was choqued cause the the tou hscreen didnt break more (it already broke how dont know it was standing up on the ground and sliped and fell on the screen and broke the touchscreen. I was like wtf how. It was already on the ground didnt fall. Just sliped on the screen and broke the rouchscreen.
Bref bad experiancs with that cheap lg phone.

The glass broke from 1 cm fall.....
And the lcd broke 2 weeks later from a drop out of my hand to a stone. Normaly u would say the glass break nooo the LG isnt glass its plastic so it didnt break but flexed and broke the lcd... fricking dumb cheap phone
I think xiaomi doesnt use Gorilla Glass 3 anymore, they use Dragontrail glass.
Is the back the same durable Gorilla Glass that is on the front (assuming the front is Gorilla Glass)?
I think so.
One drop and back panel will crack.
There is drop test on youtube

Yikes
Guys, I thought our lens was made of glass and tried to melt the scratched coating, the lens was made of plastic, I'm about to buy a new lens, I want to know if I damaged the underlying lenses, the ones inside the camera module, to know if I must buy a new camera module altogether or just the exterior lens

You know, you could also take a pic with another phone or camera and show us the damage so that we can get an clear idea of what you mean.....
In any case I assume you burned the glass that is attached to the back cover it is basically a protector for the cameras actual lens.
Here you can get the back cover that comes with the glass you destoryed.
