Thanks for the info friend. Do I need to wipe the device first or can I just boot into download mode and flash the FW? I'm on the latest ARJ9 FW for N960U1.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I always wipe after a flash so I can start fresh. If device boots back to recovery after you odin your going to have to do a wipe anyway.
SM-N960U-NOTE 9

I don't understand why there's so many threads on the US model when threads on international model are closed very swiftly.

I followed the instructions and indeed I was able to get on ATT firmware but now I have a ton of bloat? Is that normal. I’ve read about other users who’ve switched firmwares with no bloat. Did I miss a step. I did flash the userdata file as well. Is that where the bloat comes from possibly?

SM-N960U-NOTE 9

@butchieboy When I first flashed the U firmware for ATT, I was on RJA. I then updated to ARK5 but all the carrier bloatware is present. I mean there's a ton of it. When I placed all of the files in Odin I also flashed the user userdata file along with BL, AP, etc. only because I read to place all the downloads files in each slot. Could that be the issue? I didn't see a home csc, only the full wipe files.

The 1ARJA or any other firmware that's for AT&T always have bloatware this is normal on AT&T Carrier, Only unlocked will most likely be bloatware free on some apps, Some of these bloatware can be uninstalled and disabled. On 1ARJA.

Yes, I ended up purchasing package disabler pro and got rid of most of it. Thanks! I have a quick question for you. I'll ask you your opinion since you have the knowledge. I see a thread where there's a Pie leak for the N9. The instructions take you from ARJA to CRKE (Pie). Since I'm on ARK5 (Dec 1 Security Patch) can I still follow the instructions to flash the Pie Beta and when I do any firmware flash, should I remove my sim card?

You will have to start with ARJA as the base for all Pie leaks. That means you need to use Odin to get back from ARK5 to ARJA and then you can run the update zip. Hope this helps.

How I got the One UI Beta on my Verizon Note 9

Here is how I got the One UI Beta on my Verizon Branded Note 9 960U. (This process should work on any U Note 9, or even the S9/S9+)
Things you will need:
The patched ODIN software found here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/patched-odin-3-13-1-t3762572 Thanks realbbb
The XAA ARH2 firmware build. (sorry i dont have a link for that one as i dont have anywhere to host a file right now. google for it)
The apk for the beta Samsung+ app. (again, google for it, its hosted a few places)
The process I followed to get the Beta is as follows:
install the U1 firmware with the patched Odin
install the beta Samsung+ apk
open Samsung+ and opt into the beta
Run through the OTAs one at a time until the beta installed (i think there were 4 OTAs to install)
THIS DOES NOT ROOT YOUR PHONE, NOR DOES IT TRIP KNOX AS THE SOFTWARE YOU ARE RUNNING IS STILL SAMSUNG OFFICIAL SOFTWARE
Using the XAA firmware for the first step removed the Verizon bloatware and boot animation from my device, I now have the generic Samsung pulsing logo boot animation. The phone does now think it is the U1 variant, so in the about phone section it identifies that way. All of my Verizon apps still work. Voicemail works if you install Samsung voicemail app from galaxy apps. I did lose wifi calling, but I have good cell reception, so i didn't need it.
What if I already have the unlocked version?

Hey I recently got my note 9 and don't have expirence with Odin or the different firmware versions as I come from an unlocked pixel 2 could someone explain if this will wipe my phone and if there are any common mistakes I could screw up?
Tried something similar and messed up something and my phone went into an infinite boot loop that I couldn't recover from. T-mobile sent me another phone. [emoji23]
Not worth the risk. I have a pie theme installed and it looks very close to the real pie update.

here is the firmware i used
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-note9/SM-N960U1/XAA/download/N960U1UEU1ARH2/231820/
and, after having this thread closed and then re-opened. I can confirm that I am, in fact, part of the beta (similar how-tos use method that just flashes the beta firmware which leaves you high and dry for future OTAs) i have downloaded the beta 2 release via OTA and submitted a few bug reports within the beta.

Official OTA Update Pie [N960USQU1CSAA] [SM-N960U U.S. Carriers] [2/1/2019]

For your convenience, this is the official OTA update for the U.S. Snapdragon SM-N960U. If you can't wait for the Official Android 9 Pie OTA to hit your device/carrier then this is what you're looking for. It is universal for all U.S. carriers as Samsung has streamlined their Galaxy firmware across the U.S. carriers/variant. The only difference in the new firmware is the CSC relevant to each specific carrier. Your carrier SIM will determine which network configs and factory installed carrier apps will be preinstalled on first boot.
This specific OTA update .zip REQUIRES that your phone be on the latest Oreo firmware N960USQU1ARL1
If you're not already running the latest carrier firmware Oreo 8.1 (N960USQU1ARL1) just check software update in settings and let it update to N960USQU1ARL1. You can also download it from HERE and flash it via Odin. I strongly recommend a factory data reset BEFORE you Odin firmware for best results.
***Note this is the carrier firmware. If you want the non-carrier "bloat-free" firmware this is NOT it***
If you need more detailed install instructions visit this helpful thread.
Please thank the guys over at https://firmware.science/ for providing these EARLY releases as they are the ones making this possible.

Just odin back to ARL1 without wiping and then flash the update file before rebooting into the OS. That's what I did and everything is working fine but I am sure I will wipe over the weekend when I have more time.

Samsung removed this feature for some reason. I liked this feature too. Samsung seems to have taken a few steps backwards with the release of One UI.

Only question I have is how do you open the recent apps from the home screen when you have the navbar hidden and are using gestures. Also swipe up for Samsung pay is enabled.
Never mind figured it out lol. Just can't swipe up to bring up Google assistant. Might have to disable Samsung pay swipe up feature to unlock that area.

I have already downloaded the firmware for the AT&T version. Here are the following numbers:
AP: AP_N960USQU1CSAA_YYYYYYYYYY_ZZZZZZZZZZ_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta_OS9.tar.md5
BL: BL_N960USQU1CSAA_YYYYYYYYYY_ZZZZZZZZZZ_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
CP: CP_N960USQU1CSAA_XXXXXXXXXX_YYYYYYYYYY_ZZZZZZZZZZ_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
CSC: CSC_OMC_OYN_N960USQU1CSAA_YYYYYYYYYY_ZZZZZZZZZZ_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
USERDATA: USERDATA_ATT_N960USQU1CSAA_YYYYYYYYYY_ZZZZZZZZZZ_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
where X = CP11692010, Y = CL15119493, and Z = QB21580044.
Once you have downloaded the Pie firmware for Sprint, can you check if the X, Y and Z values match?
Furthermore, should I flash the USERDATA file as well if I want to use AT&T features like myAT&T, AT&T Wi-Fi Calling, and AT&T Visual Voicemail? I worry because if I don't flash it, some AT&T features may not work correctly, especially for the 5G E symbol.

5G E is just a symbol. You are NOT getting increased speeds from seeing it.
Userdata is no longer needed. This is universal firmware, and it uses the SIM card inserted to determine which bloat/features to enable.

Do you mind if I mirror on AFH? I personally get a lot of failures from Drive with larger files.

This will work for all other carriers. Just don't flash the USERDATA_TMB. Then after you ODIN, just go to recovery and factory reset. Everything will be Stock for that carrier.

Sorry, I'm honestly not too sure. Personally I would ODIN directly to CSB3 using CSC_ so data is wiped and clean. However, it might work to ODIN to CSB3 with HOME_CSC to keep your data intact. I am assuming you would want to keep your data?
If you're at all worried about losing any data, always backup, and in multiple locations. Maybe someone more knowledgeable has some more insight on this.

Home_CSC is to keep data, CSC_OYN would wipe your device.

I don't believe that is true. I flashed CSC_OYN and kept data. Flashing User_Data wipes your device.

TRue. If you're AT&T, you will lose data, TMO and VZW you will not. Can't speak for Sprint or anyone else.

Sure thing, the MD5 hash on the direct file downloaded from SamFirm, in which it verified the CRC32 as being matched is:
MD5: 9c38b64818bd43106e3cda5f742c6a6f
Both the directly downloaded file, as well as the file on the server have that MD5.

Once you update to Pie, all you have to do is put your SIM card in, and it automatically does the carrier switching for you.
My advice if you're currently on CSAA is to sideload CSB3, as that is the official T-Mobile build number (they skipped CSAA). Or if you wait long enough, ATT will be pushing CSB3.
Here is a Samsung document explaining BYOD firmware, which is included in Pie on the Note 9:

Actually what I am asking is firware switching, in short I would rather the phone be tagged to T Mobile, so when I turn it on I see the T Mobile splash instead of ATT,
I know unlocked devices is as simple as the sim card, I probably should have phrased the question in a different manner, thanks.

That is EXACTLY what I was talking about. If you read the support document I linked, you'll see it says just that. I'm not talking about the UNBRANDED phones, neither is the support document. It said UNLOCKED, because you're phone has to be unlocked before you can SIM swap.

N96OU USA got Android 10 this morning

WOke up and hit the check for update button and BOOM, 10 is installing as I type this. Im on Spectrum Wireless in NYC. Go check for the update, its finally here!!!!
No luck yet this morning on T-Mobile (snapdragon obviously).
Well, some on T-Mobile are able to (if you can believe reddit): https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyNote9/comments/ev5qvw/psa_us_note_9_android_10_has_been_released/
OTA AT&T Note9 Android 10 just rolled out, also can get the Odin firmware for Note9 USA Android 10 on Samfirm.

What about the one specifically for AT&T, Ven? Or would it work all the same
Still waiting for Sprint to roll out
Took me 5 hours to download the firmware from sammobiles.com
Just flashed by odin on my n960u
I noticed that the reception is much much better on android 10.
I got LTE full 4 bars reception everywhere I go that usually doesn't happen on pie 9.0.
I think the new modem came on android 10 made significant improvements.
So far so good.

CSJ1 isn't on SamFirm... I just checked for updates (AGAIN). Nothing.
Any tips?

Smooth sailing so far. New animations are really nice. I'm still trying to find out what new features to look out for. I'll get a better chance to check things out when I get out of work.

I downloaded CCT
CCT or CHA it doesn't matter because it comes with multi csc for all usa carries.
It will detect your sim and depending on that sim carrier it will set the csc automatically.
My model is actually verizon note 9 but the csc set on XAA since my phone is unlocked and i am not using verizon sim.
Anyone got a link to a faster download? Not going to wait for Verizon
