Installed TWRP, but zips are not visible - Xiaomi Mi A2 / 6X Questions & Answers

Installed TWRP, but zips are not visible. I want to flash magisk and hex, but when I boot to TWRP I cannot find the zips. I have root, sd card.... a lot of folders, but I don't see the zips I copied to the internal storage. Help?

It's because of encryption on android pie, twrp doesn't support pie yet, use adb sideload

Choose at install menu install zip instead of install image. If I remember well is down at the right.

[Q] Cannot find zip file in recovery mood

Hi!
I have downloaded the zip file from xda. When i went into recovery mood i cleared the cache and data when i tried to install the zip from sd card.... the zip was not found.
Now when i try to switch on mobile it goes into recovery mood.
Any solution to it plz help...!!!!
Awaiting for your response....
It does help stating which phone you have, either the normal 5570 or 5570i, as both phones vary a lot under the shell.
I assume you are using stock ROM and kernel, as you appear to be new to this.
When you downloaded the zip file, did you download it directly into your phone? If so, then the file stays in /sdcard/download. As the stock recovery does not display all the folders in /sdcard, the download folder cannot be seen or accessed. Hence, as a guideline, shift all flashable zips to the root of your sdcard (/sdcard) to allow your recovery to access and flash these zip files.
However, I am not too sure why your phone is unable to boot as you have (apparently) only wiped data and cache.

Cannot install any zip file from ext sdcard via cutom recovery

i have note 4 Tmobile i rooted it with cf auto root and recovery is twrp 2.8
my problem is i cannot install any zip (custom roms) file from external sdcard through custom recovery when i try it mobile restart and again come back to recovery mode ....... but i can install zip from internal memory without any problem
Once in TWRP go to install and click on the top middle of the screen that says internal storage and click on it and it will prompt you to use sdcard or USB click sdcard and that should help

I manage to install twrp and run adb sideload but when I try to sideload zips from pc, I get some errors on twrp. Has anyone tried installing twrp a6pltezc for A6050 and manage to install no-verity-opt-encrypt.zip and magisk.zip through twrp?

TWRP can't recognize SD card, how to keep TWRP on stock rom?

When I flashed TWRP using Odin, the stock rom is erased. When I flashed stock rom using Odin, TWRP is erased. How can I keep both? I am trying to install a custom rom but due to a bug with TWRP which doesn't recognize my external sd card (and erases everything in internal, leaving behind only TWRP), I am unable to do it.
Right now, after flashing TWRP (3.2.3, provided by DarkLord), my phone is left with no data at all and unable to mount the external SD card. So I can't transfer files from my pc. ADB Sideload doesn't work as well, it fails after few minutes of trying to start it.

No, you can't keep both twrp and stock Rom. unless there's a Twrp flashable stock rom.
Custom Recoveries (Twrp,Orangefox,SHRP,etc) for J7 prime have this bug i.e. unable to mount sd card or external storage.
For this, you either have to flash rom files through OTG or connect your device to the PC, copy rom files to your internal storage and flash it.

Question Reboots to recovery when flashing zips

So I just unlocked the bootloader of my device, installed twrp and it was reading both internal and external storage just fine. Flashed Evolution X, and then tried to go back to twrp but now when I try to flash magisk it goes back to twrp splash screen and shows my external SD card as 0 mb. When I reboot to recovery again, it reads my external SD card but does the same when flashing the zip file.

Did you formatted data after flash everything?
I formatted data before flashing the rom, not after.
Edit: It was the magisk zip file that was problematic, I just flashed an older magisk version just fine. My bad.
