Here I am with one noob question.
I just bought gold Note 8 (blue isn't available here).
I really want to buy blue S pen.
This one, ebay ->
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 OEM Stylus S Pen AT&T T-Mobile Sprint Original Blue
So if I buy this, use it, will this void my Samsung warranty?
Thank you in advance.
Why would it? In case you need to repair your phone, just insert the original gold s-pen and you are good to go.
The blue Note 8 has a black S pen!

I don't know why it would.. I still have my 7 blue s pen.. And it works fine.. I have never read anything that would say using a different "Samsung" official s-pen would either cause any problems or void any warranties...

Just a suggestion from an aesthetic point of view. Buy the coral blue S-Pen for the Note 7. The Note 7 and Note 8 use the same exact S-Pen, so they are interchangeable. The Coral Blue one is a blue pen with a gold cap/clicker-thing. So when its in the phone, it looks like a gold S-Pen, until you take it out, and its blue.
And no it won't void your warranty. Its an official Samsung S-Pen. The color does not affect the functionality.
if the spen is blue and a genuine Samsung it is from the Note 7 days and will work perfectly alright and no it will not void your warranty, even if you got a copy/replica pen it would not
SPEN has an electrical tie to your phone and not a digital tie. So you can use any S PEN and the phone will not care.
I have a Samsung Pen that has the eraser on the end and it works perfectly fine. I've even switched the S PENS between my phone and my wife's phone without issue.
I am so torn between these 2. The price for the Exynos S9+ is insane compared to the SD, and I can also get my hands on a 256GB Note 8, but I don't want to buy a super awesome 1 year old processor. Looking for input.
Edit: I changed "dated" to "a super awesome 1 year old processor" for the ones that are easily distracted and/or offended.

Get the S9+ and then trade it in for the Note 9 at a big discount - unless you needed the pen... Best of both worlds

Note 8 is not "outdated tech" , as others stated above, the really important thing is, do you use, like, need, love the s pen? Because the s pen is the very heart of a galaxy note, If the only reason for you is having the "latest tech" there are many options for you to choose, even in the vivo or huawei brands, in other words, if you have doubts, then the note 8 is not for you
Sticking with the Note 8 i cant justify spending another $900 plus after a few months with the Note...just waiting for the Note 9.

That ^ and lets say you on payment plan. You just had to put $200-300 down plus payments. With the galaxy s9+ you will have to do the same all over. Is it really worth a slightly better Note 8? I don't think so.
This Note 8 is a powerful phone good for 2-3 years, maybe more. Like others said wait for Note 9 or Note 10. I myself waiting for Note 10. The rumor specs of Note 9 seems to be nothing to jump out of your seat for.
If your 1 who wants hottest phone all the time, then go for it. It's your money spend how you want.
I love my note 8, I will keep it 'till note 10 arrives, when you are really into the note series, anything else seems capped, the s pen has no match!
I'm very partial to my Note 8 I did have to get the Galaxy S8 plus because of the Note 7 issue and it was a great phone but I'll wait for the Note 9 and Note 10,I also like the dual cameras on the Note 8 how they are side by side, not really liking the cameras on the S9 plus being one underneath the other,I know they are way better specs wise but it's just an aesthetic thing for me.
Lol @ when he said dated tech. LOL.

Same here. Love my Note 8, plus I'm not one of those to upgrade every year, the new features from one gen to next is not much, just a waste of money to upgrade every year IMO considering how much phones cost these days. I love the spen so I continue to buy Note over S if possible.
I'll be waiting for the Note 10, I'm betting they are planning to make a big improvement with it being the 10, well hopefully.
As was mentioned before, the Note 8 is far from outdated. Amazing piece of tech. I recommend to shop around to save some money.
Go for the 9 if you don't use the S-pen
I say outdated, because both cpu's are being replaced in the flagship lineup. Don't get caught up on the wording.
I decided on the S9 Plus, because I stopped using the s pen. I sold my S8 plus to help fund another device, and so I rolled back to my Note 4 in the meantime, and I haven't used the S pen once. Thanks for all of the input.
S9 if you don't need Spen. Note8 if you want Spen and save some money
I for one am tired of the "gotta have it! gotta have it!" with the new phones. The changes from phone to phone aren't worth the $900+ IMO. I will be keeping my Note8 until it breaks/starts tweaking out.

I would say stick with it. We will get the ports of the software so that's not a problem and the hardware won't shine if you are comparing it to the note 8.

So in other words, we aren't going to use accurate wording that best describes what we are saying? You got the reaction that those words warranted man.
Dated is such an overstatement anyways. I actually considered buying a Note 4 for back up last night. $189 new at walmart.com.
See post #8 for the pictures please.

Took these outside, hard to get a shot that really displays the true color. It is more bronze/copper than brown and super reflective and shiny.
Hope it helps some to decide.

That's picking up some hues I wouldn't have imagined, looks interesting w/o being gaudy.
I would have opted for this in the absence of the black option stateside.
The lavender purple is OK,but,I wish Samsung woulda stuck w/Orchid Grey.
I think they change the hues ever so slightly to better distinguish between last year's models & the Galaxy S series.
Hope they hold this copper color over for next year & have it,along with all color options, available in all markets.
Stunning color.

Perhaps there's a skin out there somewhere that emulates this tone & the reflective qualities.
I have a clear skin for my lavender purple model, but, would like to find a skin that is still clear, but, has a slight tint to it,in any shade,to darken it up just a bit.
I've made a mental note to be a bit more patient next year,to wait for addition shades to show up @ Best Buy.
I was prepared to wait this year, but, the pre-order trade-in deal @ T-Mobile US was too good to pass up,even with the limited color choices.
Pictures removed for privacy's sake @ OP's request - I'll OP decide how to proceed with the thread, if to put up different photos or what.

Just curious, is anyone going to swap to the S10+, if you are, or are not, why?
I'm on 2 sides, it's a nice phone, but still doesn't really warrant anything for me to spend $1700 AUD when I have my N9 that is a power house still, plus the S-pen is handy for me. I also not sure how I feel about the infinity-O hole.
No way. I'm a long-time Note user and the next phone I get will be another Note device. Maybe the Note 10 or I'll wait until the Note 11. It's the S-Pen. The S-Pen is what makes this Note for me. It's why when I used my OP6T (to try it out for a couple of weeks) I came back to the Note 9 because I was missing that S-Pen. Interacting with my phone's display with the S-Pen is so much better than using my finger or thumbs. It's more precise, it's more accurate and faster.
I was going to post this question this morning. So the only thing the note 9 has going for it vs the S10+ is the stylus as far as I can tell. Everything else, Size, weight, screen, processor, memory etc is smaller. Its pretty nice that Samsung will give you $550 right now for the Note and Toss in some earbuds. I'm definitely doing this for my wife's S9 which they will also give you $550, but its sort of insulting that they are offering $550 for all 3 model S9 devices. I would have thought the Note 9 should have gotten more.
Pie, note 9 for now on Oreo and hopefully by the time they work the kinks on the s10 s10+ they release a good Note 10. The 9 was built for Oreo so I'll stick for a couple of years.... Maybe!

What makes you stay on Oreo? I'm running PIE and it is next to flawless.
More importantly - views on the Fold?
I love the 3 app migration but bet its weighty with 2 batteries and 3 screens! Looks quite thick too - not quite like the one seen in their advert "hey sera sera".
I think maybe 2 or 3 iterations down the line and this could be a killer device.
Halfwits on FB were moaning about the price but seriously what do they expect for this kind of new tech.
This is the pricing in Australia, it's on the high end of the board by a mile. The big boy 1TB will be $2399, that's enough to get you a killer laptop over here, but the phone will be a laptop in it's own right I guess. I will probably snag one when you don't need a house mortgage to buy one.
The entry-level S10+ will have the same colour options again for its 128GB ($1,499) model. The 512GB ($1,849) will be available in ceramic black or ceramic white.
And then there's the Big Boi. The 1TB Samsung Galaxy S10+. It will also come in ceramic black or white and is going to set you back a whopping
No, Not 5G ready and my Note 9 can wait having just flashed Pie

Note 10 ??
I haven't decided yet. Love my Note 9, especially with 9.0, but I can get an S10e for free. I've been considering downsizing. I used an LG K20 while I fought with my Note 9 to get ARL1 and CSAA flashed, and a smaller phone felt really nice in the hand.
Beautiful but no
As of now, I have no plans to swap (and it is not an upgrade) my Note 9 for an S10 plus. I am all for Note's design and stopped liking rounded corners after using S8 plus and S9 plus for long time. Note is made perfect for me and no reasons to make a move now.
Also, for me the biggest advantage in S10 plus if I have to swap is the ceramic back, but sadly the starting price of Ceramic model is $1250, the same configuration glass body sells for $999 (and S10 doesn't have Ceramic option). A ceramic body would be nice because I end up holding the phone in my hands most of the day - not at that price.
Note 10 maybe if they tame Pi! S10 never

My call recording is fine on Pie, and the Camera if anything is better on Pie.
Man, that punch hole thing would haunt me in my dreams. It's like having a permanent stain on the screen that I can never get rid of. I'll hold on to my note 9 until they either just eliminate the selfie camera that I never ever use or just figure out a way of putting it under the display. Otherwise, I'd just find me another notchless punch holeless phone. I'm too OCD for these screens.
So dear people, the N10 is there....wow!Are there any plans to convert the software, spend,Camara, roms to our beloved Note 9?Could be great.I don't flash the n9 till now,the first one ever ,but the new situation with N10 I could imagine to flash it . Any thoughts about??The N9 is a great phone, now after 5 month, zero problems with it.

From all the vids I watched it didn't look like a very polished feature. I don't see how moving my entire hand is better then a small movement of my finger on the screen. Then I see the 10 as a downgrade even compared to the note 8. The 10+ lost to many useful features for useless ones.
I think the only software features I would want would be the screen recorder. I already use game launcher to semi make that possible in apps.
Either way I can see a lot of software features will eventually make there way to the note9.

Personaly i think the Note 9 is a TOP Phone the way it is .
personally the whole exhibition of the phone itself talked me out of wanting it. Everything about it is gimmicky at best, not a really needed upgrade for me from my N9. not the cameras, pen, battery. nothing screams buy me. So im waiting for the N11 maybe thatll wow me, if not then the N12 maybe

I know the heart rate sensor, headphone jack, dedicated power button ( it's now power/bixby) that's it for the 10+ now the 10 has a lot more, no SD slot lower resolution screen, 256 storage ( I have the 512 note9) battery. That's off the top of my head.
I think that a N9 with a coustom ROM Will be the same as n10+

I really liked the new display but nothing else. I'm really disappointed with note 9 camera and the note 10 camera seems to be the same... so this time is for waiting... or maybe get the tab 6...

theres an article on xda front page news abour all the missed points in the note 10 reveal. and it covers the power button remapping.
Personally if you own a Note 9 there is no reason to upgrade to any of the Note 10s. Unless your device is starting to fail.
I don't have reason to buy Note 10/+. Note 10 is step back compare to Note 9. Like someone wrote- deleted led notification (very useful), jack, heart rate sensor, iris scanner, force touch to wake up?, less battery in standard version Note 10. Next colors- no midnight blue, and only standard black, white and mirror silver isn't step forward. I want 2 level colors like for example in Note 5- titanium silver, platinum gold, sapphire black. Newer isn't always better.
I bought N9 8/512 in november 2018 and now i know that it was good decision. Now I wait for N11 or Pixel 4/5.

the color of a phone should never be a selling point. moreover if it is, it means you dont use protection(case) so even if it comes in the color you want the risk of it breaking, will effectively render it unusable in some way or form and then color is even more irrelevant.
Of course, color it's not selling point but it's hard to difficult that palette of new models are poor.
Colors are only one of disadvantages from my previous reply.
It's similar to buy a new car and his color usually is important, more or less but important.
From Note 5 and 9 I use transparent case. Every new samsung models are boring small bezels, black front and so only back is different.
For me Note 7 in blue coral was nice phone, even today.
