Hey guys,
I left my HTC One to charge and when I tried to unlock it, it wouldn't respond. Right now it's a blank screen, the red LED is on even when I unplug the phone, and the hardware buttons are lit. I've tried to restart the phone by holding the power, holding power + volume down, but nothing is working. Device isn't showing up under adb or fastboot devices. What is going on? How can I fix this?
Help me out. Thanks!
-Coby
Edit: Recently this has been happening to my phone frequently, but I am usually able to get it to restart doing the methods said above. This is the first time I can't get it to do anything.
Put it under a stronger light and longpress power + vol-
Try this
I was actually searching through old threads and found that same answer and tried it. I can't believe it worked! Thanks! Why does this happen though? And will this hopefully prevent it from happening later on?
Are you rooted with a custom rom?
However, idk why it happened

Why the stronger light? Im confused! :cyclops:
This has worked for me a ton of times too, I guess it must just trigger something with the light sensor the phone has and wakes it up.

It happened to me when i was rooted and used CWM.
It happened everytime i let the battery run down completely.
I havent rooted my replacement yet and when i let it run down, charged it for ten minutes and it booted straight up.
Seems to be an issue with the phone reading the charge state of the safety circuit in the phone. Mere speculation but i havent heard of it happening to anyone who wasnt rooted with custom recovery....

Can you please give me a little bit more details?
I have exact the same issue: The battery ran out completely, then I can't charge it or turn it on.
I have tried
1. with charger connect to outlet, power + vol-
2. with charger connect to PC, power + vol-
3. under desk light, without charger connected, power + vol-
Nothing worked for me.
Some questions:
- Should I connect the cable when I attempt to turn on the phone?
- Is normal desk fluorescent light "bright enough"?
- Should I move the phone under the light first then press the button, or the other way around?
Thank you for your help!
i have the same problem in my htc eye. i tried your solution. but it won't worked for me. phone still on blank screen and red light is on. how can i fix it?????
Hey guys, im having a bit of a problem. My phone is shuting off on itself.
Everytime i turn it on, it boots up no problem, but when i hit the power button to turn the screen off, when i want to turn the screen on again by pressing the power button, the screen just goes deep blue, and turns off.
I haven't change anything on it for quite a few months now, so i'm not sure why this is happening. Im on Viper 3.5 i think or 3.7, using faux123 kernel, dont remember which version, but an old one with which i never had any troubles... rooted, s-on
Any ideas?
Thanks!

PD: Logcat in the .rar file...was too big for .txt
Really?? No one??
Well, just for further info... my phone appeared to fix itself, since it stopped doing that weird thing for a couple of days, but now is back... nothing ever changed, no new apps, or settings or anything...
Any ideas welcome
Edit: Attaching new logcats...

I think your power button is broken (or you may have a related hardware issue). Nothing but a root app can reboot the phone, and I've never seen that happen by accident.

Yeah, i thought about it being hardware but something is off... i mean, if it where the power button, then i shouldnt be able to turn it on easily, or it wouldnt turn off the screen properly, nor would it just start working alright for a couple of days... plus, it didnt recieve any hits or anything during, before or after the problem.
I also thought it could be the screen, but when its on, it works perfectly, as on the first day...
But yeah, I'm not taking hardware problem out of the table...just seems unlikely to me...
Thanks for your answer!

Edit: also, I just found out it doesnt actually restart...screen just turns dark blue, then it powers the screen off and it wont turn on when pressing power... but i know its on, because i can still hear notification sounds of incoming messages...
Edit2: Just tried same but instead of using power button, i used logo2sleep and home2wake kernel options, and did the on/off with them, and same result...dark blue screen then off and not turning on... so it cant be power button
I recently updated my Mi A2 via OTA update by using Express VPN to connect to India. Everything was fine until I powered off my device. It would not turn back on (no boot animation or anything).
However, I then proceeded to plug in the charging cable. After doing so, my screen lit up and I was able to get my phone to boot.
Now the problem remains that every time I turn my device off, it won't boot unless I plug it in to a power source.
Please, anyone experienced this? Is there a way to fix it? Would an update further down the line fix an issue like this?
Please, I can use my phone normally when it's on but this thing with the not being able to boot is just bugging the freak out of me.
I've had a problem like this before, hold power only gives a vibration and doesn't boot, just keep holding the power button
It freaggin worked

I honestly didn't expect this to work but it's as you say. My phone would just vibrate and nothing more.
Following your instructions, I held the power button longger than usual and it finally booted. You sir are a legend. Thank you !!
But it would be awesome to know why this happens though. Was it due to something in the pie update? and will I need to be holding down the power button considerably longger (around 5-6 seconds) moving forward. Or will it boot like normal now?
Again, before anything else. Thank you

Well I hope it gets fixed down the line. Thank you!!
In India, I received notification that I got pie update, I downloaded, installation process was done but when my device rebooted there was only blank screen and when I press power button, it vibrates, but after pressing buttons and volume button. . . My device successfully booted into 8.1.0 lol I don't know what happened, anyone know how fix it?

I'm not sure why this happens, I don't know if it started right when I updated or when I made some modifications to system, but I solved it by flashing the update again in recovery

Hi bro,
May i know how did you do that.
How did you flash update through recovery?
When i turn off the display, by double tapping or pressing power button, After that pressing power button again or double tapping wont wake the display on. After a long time period the ambient display might show up but that is becoming rare day by day, every day this period of nightmare is increasing. Now I'm even afraid to turn off the display so that it wont turn on again.
Sometimes when people call, makes the phone rings but shows nothing on the display.
Only way to forcefully wake the display is to pressing power button long time so that it will restart. But nowadays it doesnt even work!!!
Now, Im stuck, is it hardware or software problem??!?
Have you tried to install full fastboot rom from miui tool

Hi xda developers
After wetting the phone with a hand sanitizer and using the same wetness of the screen, I played the online game and put it in automatic game mode and rested for a while...
After waking up, I noticed that the phone was turned off, which was turned on by holding down the power button, but the screen is off...
Currently, only vibrators and notification lights work for the phone, and the phone is organized by a computer.
Also, the phone is charged and its sound can be heard while connecting it to the charger, and its sound can be heard in the same way to lock the screen.
Does anyone have an idea?
Omg this is what I'm searching for..

I'm also having the exact same problem with my k20 indian variant. Started when I was on miui 11. Thought software issue. Updated to miui 12 still the same. When turn off screen using power button, or time out screen, goes off. After that not able to turn on display by pressing power button or double tap. No AOD , no fingerprint icon. But for some time sound's playing. But sometimes automatically display comes. Sometimes it reboots.
I tried rebooting by pressing and holding power button, the vibration came but no display. But after sometime, display comes. Now almost everytime when display turn off, I'm having this issue. It is really annoying. Have you found a solution? Please update your experience..........

I experienced this problem few months ago. Luckily it was still under warranty and the service center replaced the motherboard for me free of charge.
I recently (just over a month ago) bought a Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro and have had no issues with the phone until now. I had a couple of pop up notifications saying something about my phone being too low of a temperature. I thought I'd just reboot the phone to see if that fixes it. However, now it won't turn back on with only the MI logo appearing for a brief moment (probably less than a second) before turning back off. I was wondering if anyone else had this issue and if there was some sort of way I could fix it myself without voiding the manufacturer warranty (ideally). I've already emailed the manufacturer and the retailer I bought the phone off of and am awaiting a reply from them. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the quick response. However, when I tried that, the same thing happens as it would when I try to turn it on normally (the MI logo appears for a split second to only fade away or disappear instantaneously).

This is basically what happens when I hold the power button down or hold the power button down with the volume up button (flashing on and off once when just trying to turn it on normally).

Try to connect the charger and after power on.
Or maybe the temperature sensor from inside of battery is damage ( it's reading show verry low temperature ) Try to warm little your phone and after power on.
