Hello guys,
Just registered on xda. I've bought a xiaomi mi a2 mi 6x the 6GB ram one. I've had it for two weeks now and working great. Today i received the update to 9.0 pie, installed it and after restart something is bugging me. The Google search bar moved from the top of the screen to the very bottom and this is very annoying for me. I understood that on Android one the search bar from google will be on my screen forever but now that is down, i can't cope with that. Is there any way to move it from the bottom to the top where it has originally been on the previous android 8?
Thanks

Nope, just use another launcher
I just switched to Nova and it's so much better!

Thanks. I thought you will say that... I will get used to it then. I like the "clean" android much better than everything else.

i installed the xda nobar app and sometime around then i lost the huawei navigation bar
i have tried all the options, one by one, removed the nobar and zero position
the circle navigation does show but the 3 symbols at the bottom are gone
went as far as resetting all settings. zip
i do not want to go to a factory reset if someone can help
the offending adb entry was adb shell pm com.android.nobar android.permissions.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
if someone knows how to remove this line using adb i would gladly try it to see if it does return the navigation bar.
much appreciate someone's help
thanks guys

Ok, you need to install xda nobar app again and give adb permissions. Then open the app and chose the option to disable it. Go to your nav settings and choose navbar and it will be fixed. I had the same issue and fixed that way.
thanks for the idea. will give it a shot tomorrow
seems you've been using it, what is your impression
is it worthwhile to root. my s6 edge was rooted and i used nemesis, it was ok but the lack of ram was a killer
what is your opinion so far and any special tweaks or site for special tweaks, i am the tweak freak i like to squeeze the most experience,
i was looking if android p would be available soon, the next thing that i found discouraging is the lack of developers creating some original rom for this phone,
thanks so much

The app was a little laggy to be honest, right now I prefer using the front fp for navigation.
In the future I would like to have gesture navigation, I used it on Op5t for four months and was very cool. Anyway the fp navigation is great on this phone.
I already have the bootloader unlock code but I will wait cause I had a change of heart about root in the last few months. I can live just fine without the 5 or 6 root apps/tweaks I used the last few years.
Using Funky Huawei I'm on the 128a rom with May Security patch so is great ATM in that front.
The phone is too expensive to lose warranty so early so I'm hesitant right now and also Treble ROMs and so on are in their infancy so maybe I will regret it if I do.
Also I change phones too often ( every 2 months or so ) and the resale value will go down if I open the bootloader. On the other hand I had the 5t for 5 months, a personal record for me in the last 5 years so maybe i'll keep this P20 Pro for longer and then I will not give a sh## about losing warranty so who knows? Lol.
For the time being I'm really happy with this phone so I'll keep it stock.

good news to report, followed your idea and the bar is back
unfortunately i donot have the chance to change so often, i am very bad at selling anything in ebay and truthfully i usually go for hi end and nothing of late grabbed my attention. usually it's one thing or another that is not included and i lose interest. apple is against my religion. i live in a country where everything is monopoly so to marry the ugliest of monopolies, not anytime soon
th + phones (+6 coming up) it's almost there but they leave off something to keep it cheap. for instance in this era of hi speed internet idont see how manufacturers leave off the ac or sometimes the 5 mhz band completely that's just nuts or the lg with it's "unique" roms that has no developers, the samsung is good but the small ram craps the phone if you happen to have many apps, like me. i used nova and because the number of apps, nova bonked very often. so this phone although sadly the gorilla issue may be an issue,
another point, i updated up to 120 but i cannot update beyond the huawei firmware app tells me of 120c i do not know how to go about he update
where did you get the 128 and how did you load it, can you help
much appreciated

The firmware is region dependent, for most of Europe if not all the most updated firmware is 120 at the moment because is the only firmware signed/approved by Huawei but the 128a firm also exist just is not approved at the moment so if you try to flash it will fail.
I used Funky Huawei ( is a paid service):

I have a CTL29 C432 btw.

Hey Community,
i recently got my P20 Pro in exchange for my Mi Mix 2S
The only thing i miss is the Swipe Feature, like swipe to go back, swipe from down to up to get in multitask.
I found just the Homebutton swipe feature but this doesnt feel the same :/
Is there anything i can bring this or activate this on my p20 pro?
I guess this is a new feature in general from Google since Android 8 i guess?
Please Help
Nothing?
Maybe some better Rom like miui?
Did you find anything? I really hate the long press for getting to home. Too slow.

Have you tried nova launcher prime?
Sent from my HUAWEI CLT-L29 using XDA Labs
use All in One Gesture
Title says it. In the screenshot you can see the left side where the notch is, the screen is black. I noticed the Chinese version of Pubg doesn't have this. I wonder if the global version can stretch all the way
*EDIT* with an update to MIUI (mine is Chinese), the problem was fixed
*Either that or PuBG update fixed it but I don't remember getting a pubg update
NVM, the latest update where the notch can be unsmoothened seems to have fixed it

Oh great. Let's hope they will release it soon for eaa global.
The power of the Mi 9 be with you
Or you can switch to xiaomi.eu and have the benefits of bouth global and Chinese ROMs and more. LINK
You will need to unlock and install TWRP thought. No need to root and you will not void the warranty from what I read.
A tutorial HERE
I know yes. I allrdy applied for unlock 3 days ago!
Thank you.

I really need some understanding. Wdym by "benefits" of Chinese version?
Does .eu have proper notifications? Because in Chinese notifications seem like a complete train wreck. Sometimes they show sometimes not. Some make noise while others don't. Particularly, I use Muslim Pro and the adhan never plays. Only vibrations.
If I remember correctly, it worked fine on global on my OnePlus 5T before.
Is Xiao AI replaced with Google?
Does the theme use Chinese or English themes? (If I know correct, the Chinese themes are better)
I saw all the extra features in Xiaomi.eu. But small things in Chinese bug the heck out of me. Like notifications not working properly or showing on lockscreen. Xiao AI, Chinese language here and there. Improper Google Integration(like Casting is broken) and many other small things which I don't recall. I'm very worried if those carry over to Xiaomi.eu
But then I don't think I have much of a choice anyway since if I heard correct, the 8GB doesn't support global ROM or something. So I might just be left with Xiaomi.eu.
But I just have 188 hours to unlock . Which i think falls on April 9th

After the update it's now more like the iPhone X with the options being moved a bit away from the curves so nothing is cut off. Also makes it easier on the fingers to reach things.
But most importantly, no black bar(s)
Hi guys ,
i have a Mi 8 ( stock, not root) with Miui 10 global Version 9.5.17 and i did not see Permanent notification on bar.
Is there a possibility to see this (without use of any paid app) ? Maybe in the next updates of globa?
Mi 8 lite and Pocofone f1 already have this possibility.
thanks for the help

There is one for free, and I'm not going to share a link since it was shared on device forums before. Search before asking it. Good luck.

It's called Notch Notifications for Miui.
Get it from Playstore.
It work great once set up.
I adjusted the icons to be a bit larger and closer to the left hand edge of the screen, this can be done easily in the app.
Do it once and youre good to go.I only use the free version and it's perfect, you can also buy a version which adds a few features.
Hi, I recently installed Pixel, and I'm loving it, the only thing it's bothering me is that the device model shows up as "Google Pixel 2 Xl, and every time I login using my phone, it says to check my "Pixel 2 Xl".
In the about phone, all the info is correct.
Is there anyway to fix it? Thanks.

You can change it inside the build.prop.. But honestly it just a name on the rom and it will not affect your phone or your life.. Your phone is still Mi A2 ?

That was my first thought, I used Root Browser Classic to edit build.prop but when I opened it, all the info that I could see was already correct. Did I miss something or is this truly a mystery?
Ok. That's weird now.. Before this I'm using PE around December until early January, I had same issue, when I open build.prop, model name is Pixel 2 XL and the brand is Google. I just change the model name to Mi A2.. Then I'm jump in to Havoc os until now, so I don't know about latest build from PE
Well, @Aziziamran, thanks for the assistance. I hope they fix it in the future builds of Pixel Experience.
