stock sm-n9600 snapdragon on verizon - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

I am thinking about getting a n9600 snapdragon hk (for rooting). I know that a n9600 has an unlocked BL. After rooting with twrp and using weta rom the n9600 snapdragon reportedly works on Verizon. (if you have an activated sim already.)
My question is this: will an already activated Verizon sim work with a stock n9600 or is twrp/root/weta necessary to get it working with Verizon services?

950U - redheaded step child, or compatible with other roms?

I'm not seeing any tmous 950U roms, root, or anything. Am I missing somersetting here or is there just no dev work being done on this model number? I haven't been able to find anything which states it is compatible with other rom builds and i certainly do not want to brick my phone.
Thanks,
Jason
I ordered mine from directly from Sprint and my phones model number is 950U. Is this not the Unlocked model number?
If you're on Sprint or Verizon, your phone has the Snapdragon SoC (because it supports CDMA) and the Snapdragon has a locked bootloader. This means that as far as development of root, ROMs and TWRP is concerned, it is indeed the redheaded stepchild. Sorry.
You can read more about it in this thread.

They all have snapdragon socs if you have an us carrier version... All the bootloaders locked. Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and Sprint will not see custom roms unless root is found, however custom recovery won't happen
Its either lose your warranty and risk $1200, or wait a year for some sort of limited root.

Very true but at least if you're on a carrier that doesn't use CDMA, you can buy an unlocked Exynos version from overseas and still use it on your network. If you're on Sprint or Verizon, you have no options at all.

convert N9600 to N960u (unlocked)

Can I convert a n9600 to N960U unlocked ? I don't need the dual sim and it seems to be the identical version. I ideally want to use science. Firmware's flashable updates.

Which Note 9?

I have a note 8 on AT&t prepaid. The bootloader is locked. I would like to upgrade to the 9. Is there a variant that works on AT&t prepaid that will allow me to root? Unlocked phone are just carrier unlocked right? Will the unlocked Sammy still let me root?
Thanks in advance.

I don't use AT&T, but yes unlocked phones just mean sim unlocked. Not the same as bootloader unlocked.
U.S. models are bootloader locked so no root there. Exynos models and N9600 are bootloader unlocked. You would need to check the available bands on those models to ensure they match your carrier, or wait until someone on AT&T confirms

N9500 or any dual sim rom on n950u unlocked?

Hey Guys, I got an n950u unlocked device and I need dual sim function. I was wondering if it is possible to flash n9500 (dual sim variant for HK) on n950u since the hardware for both devices is identical.
I assume most of you know that those with n950n (Korean single sim variant) have been able to flash global dual sim (n950fd) rom on their devices since both devices have identical hardware.
If the problem would be with ODIN, can I use prince Comsy's ODIN to flash such a rom?
If there is any other way to get dual sim working on n950u please share your suggestions.
Thanks in advance.
In theory you should have no problem installing the OS from the N9500 onto the N950U. However I believe the N950U has a different LTE modem, which uses different LTE bands from what is being used in the N9500.

Thanks for your reply. I did think just as you do, but when I tried to flash n9500 firmware on my n950 Odin stopped with an error and not succeeded and on the phone screen an error showed up in red saying SECURE CHECK FAILED. I also used patched odin from prince comsy and 3b but non worked for me. I assume that the issue is that n950 comes with locked bootloader while n9500 has unlocked bootloader. If you can suggest me any other ways I would appreciate that.

Verizon To Global Conversion

So I have a verizon model of S20 FE 5G which is unlocked for all sims. Is there any way to flash global firmware and get rid of verizon bloatware without having any kind of problems ?
I tried flashing this https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-G781U1/XAA/G781U1UES9FWB1
Odin tool says security check abl error.
the Verizon FE has different hardware for the mmwave 5G, it's not gonna work, flash back to Verizon fw.

Well I tried flashing the unlocked firmware on S20 FE 5G UW with patched odin tool but it didn't work. So I am using verizon firmware and just debloated it with adb tool. I also unlocked secret codes on verizon firmware through an app.
