The cheap ones have been tested multiple times, they're not up to the quality of the originals and sound crap, avoid them. Go for any other popular set from Amazon.

There are tons of excellent fakes too these days. They look exactly the same but cost a fraction and are inferior quality. Buyer should beware if the price is too good to be true...

With Samsung audio tuner, you can make pretty much any headphone sound great. I like BT phasor brand quite a bit with Samsung. Search on Amazon.

Not true at all. A crap pair of headphones will sound crap whatever you do with the Samsung settings, software cannot make up for crap hardware. The drivers cannot physically reproduce sound like a higher quality pair of headphones.
If you look on eBay, you can find people selling the box with all the original accessories brand new. Usually around $40-50. It's worth it to replace your earbuds and have an extra charger and cable. And you can look for a box from the S8, S8+, S9, S9+, Note 8, or Note 9, since they haven't changed the accessories since then.
Actually the wall charger from the S7 and S7 Edge are the same too, they're just white instead of black. Same specs though.

Doesn't surprise me. I wasn't sure when Samsung implemented the fast chargers. I had a Note II and a Galaxy S3, but went back to Nexus until the S7 Edge, so that was the first Samsung fast charger I had. I just checked the specs the other day to confirm they were the same.

They're still using the same standard fast charge since then. All other brands have gone miles ahead in regards to fast charging.

They probably are legit. As some people will probably sell them when they get their new device and use their own headsets rather than the ones included with their new device. Also some retailers maybe selling the bulk purchased versions, which they got from a factory outlet. Which are also legit.

Have you tried on a different s3 or with a different cable?
I have only tried with 1 gs3 but differ cords. Cant figure out why it works with my sprint note2 but not my sprint gs3. I even did a factory reset on my gs3
Sgs3 uses a 6 pin adapter the note 2 uses 8pin physical size is same just more pins inside
Thanks for the info and I believe you from experience but why do all blogs say it fits both. It even says galaxy s3 on the adapter box

I have a LG HBS-730 ... I think it is the best of the $50 units. I picked mine up off of Amazon. The predecessor to this unit was the HBS-700, check out its ratings on Amazon ... it is very popular. Some people had a few difficulties with the 730 when it was released and this is reflected in some of the reviews. I am not having any problems on the Nexus 10 or my Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

Any idea how it would work with a ski helmet? Does it block sound?
I've used the LG HBS-700 set for about a year. Love them, but had to send it in for repair after 4 months when the battery wouldn't hold a charge. Got them back and it's been good since.
Lg hbs 730
If you buy the the LG's be sure to hit up newegg and check the reviews on the HBS 730...I have both the 700 and the 730, 730 sounds better but has really awful reception compared to the 700. The reviews will confirm this.

I actually have the HBS-700's, not the 730's. I am not a skier, but if regular earbuds fit under a ski helmet, these should too. You would want to keep the part that you wear on your neck under a jacket or something so they don't fly off.

Phaiton PS 210 BTNC
After much research I got a pair of Phaiton noise-cancelling ear buds PS 210 BTNC active noise cancelling ear buds. They're pricey, but actually well worth it.
I might have unusually shaped ears, but ear buds are all too often torture for me. These are so comfortable that I can even fall blissfully asleep listening to music.
The sound quality is wonderful and the noise-cancellation is great on airplanes, in server farms, working w/ power tools, etc. Check it out!

Something like this and you can use whatever headphone/earphone you already have. And if the battery ever runs out on the unit you can plug in your headphone straight into the phone.... Unlike bluetooth only headsets

There are cheaper and more expensive units. Sony, samsung and Habra has something similar. There is a black version for 20. Just look at amazon and look around for a bit. Good thing also is that you can hook a 3.5mm aux cable and connect it to speakers, car stereos, receivers and a lot more. A lot more versatile than bluetooth only headsets but i like a lot of functionality for devices and accessories. But you can pay more and have less options but hey you'll have "cool" bluetooth only headphones if you like.

Note 8 is louder, inaccurate post.
I went from my AT&T Galaxy s8+ I have been using for 3-4 months to the unlocked Galaxy Note 8 today and the sound from the speakers on the Note 8 blew the doors off my truck!
Ok, that might be an exaggeration but the Note 8 is substantially louder than my s8+ is.

My Note 8 was obnoxiously loud right out of the box. Haven't changed anything but turn the default volume down because it was too loud.

It is and that's not opinion its been repeatedly measured by reviewers.
Samsung are years behind several flagship brands in terms of speakers or should I write lack of a second speaker. Not only are Samsung behind with speakers the 'one' they offer is rather below par and they really need to address this in future models. In terms of sound reproduction via headphones they are above average but NOT top draw in that respect either.
The lack of attention to speakers on a mobile in this price range does concern me and I have written in previous posts had it not been for the S-pen I would be looking at the LG V30 as a serious alternative as Audio quality is second on my list of prioritise the S-pen obviously being my first.

"loud" doesn't mean better. everyone agrees that the sound on the S8 and Note8 aren't as good as other flagship phones. this thread is simply about whether or not the Note 8 sucky speakers are louder than the S8 sucky speakers. the dude you quoted just said one speaker was louder than the other, he didn't say anything about sound quality.
Making the speaker on the note 8 louder
When you make a call there Will be 3 dots in the top right corner. Click on that there's an option to make the speaker louder.
So when I got my Galaxy S7 I also got a Gear VR. I've recently upgraded to an S8+. I see that I can order a part to swap out the micro USB for a USB C connector. Great! So I order it. I'm happy that it came in the mail. No instructions - no big deal. I find instructions using our trusty friend Google. The instructions don't match the Gear VR I have. I can't swap the connector out. Doing some more searching I find there are different models of Gear VR. Mine is apparently the older model that doesn't have a swappable connector.
Oh well. Maybe I'll take the damn thing to the shooting range. We'll see how it holds up to a round of .500 Smith and Wesson magnum...

No. Just a bit bigger. Smith and Wesson 500 magnum.
well, there is always the "dremel" and a hack it till it works? Or ebay? Not that you would get the equivelent of the "fun factor" of just using it for target practice, but there are always alternatives to consider.
Buy a headset used, Ebay always has them.
Ps. I have a Sig P238 and a Henry survival rifle (AR 7) :good:
I have a black vr headset, and got the side, swapped the usb_C off a box at a tech store but it doesn't fit the headset I have, the little tab prevented it from slipping onto the connection. So I skipped it and it looks like it should all be working right, but Alas... No go. Phone doesn't seem to register it's been connected into the headset...
Any thoughts guys?
Forget the dremel....use the Magnum!
FWIW I didn't blast it to smithereens with my hand canon. I gave it to a guy at work to give to his wife. She has an S7.

Though it is compatible, it will not be a good fit, the model number you brought is SM-R324. the model that will have a much better fit for the note 8 is the SM-R325 (SM-R325NZVAXAR to be precise)
There's a special adapter you can buy from samsung that has an extra space in the USB type C connector that will allow it to fit snugly. I on the other hand once I got a hold of of my gear vr (2016 version) having no idea it was going to be a thing took matters into my own hands (this was near Xmas and the part was going to take a month to ship) I took a not so subtle approach and heated up a pair of boxcutters over the gas burner on my oven and just trimmed away until it fit lol. For it to stay in I need to just use one good piece of either black electrical tape (preferred) or duct tape(REALLY let's the ghettoness shine through lol). Stays firmly in place all things considered, and despite the gaps/holes in plastic no light gets thru them whatsoever. To each their own I guess lol.
Brilliant cheers people I'll send it back for a refund
