So what do guys think about the new installer and do you think it would support our device
The installer seems to be a great opportunity to anyone who does not know anything about flashing ROMs. It makes it accessible to everyone, but doesn't that mean that there will be more people who don't know what they're doing?

Your still going to have to unlock the bootloader to use the cyanogenmod installer.

That probably doesn't cover all device specific installation methods. You need to unlock the bootloader.

Yes you can - it works ok on 4.3. Less well on 4.4.2.

Ok, I found a link to the apk. Have you ever had a soft brick from this? Also, how would I fix a soft brick if I get one? (i do NOT have an unlocked bootloader)

Any answer to your question would be pure speculation... Depends what you do to brick it...
But being locked with only the stock recovery your options are very, very limited. The stock recovery practically can only flash the stock firmware. If that does not work you're out of luck.
With a custom recovery installed (which requires you to unlock the bootloader), you have many more options and in most cases it's easy to recover from a soft brick.
I would feel totally helpless without a custom recovery and an unlocked bootloader. You do have to do a lot of reading though. Total control of your tablet also means you can totally brick it if you do the wrong thing.
But Xposed and the modules you run with it rarely get you into that kind of trouble.
Still....

i did that logo.bin to my mobile
bt it takes too much time for booting
is there any solution??
So I'm looking around and I can't see a tutorial.
Can I unlock the bootloader, root, s-off and install a recovery?
Are there any tutorials?
All I want to do is unlock it get rid of the bloatware and then lock it up again so I can still get OTA's
Is that possible?

Use xperifix.
Use the latest Oreo firmware I uploaded in TWRP.
Install xperifix and use it with TWRP.
Use the camera one time.
Upgrade to latest PIE.
Install TWRP and camera works.

Use in xperiafix the manual mode, vendor, a/b and choose the magisk zip.
Not the twrp zip.

Hey everyone. I am new on here. And I just bought a Sony Xperia xz-2. I've been so accustomed to the substratum swift black themes on my Note 8 that coming to this has been a bit underwhelming as I was hoping to use substratum to no avail.
It seems that I'll need to root my new phone in android p to achieve what I want from substratum.
I have absolutely no knowledge of rooting. How can I root my phone if I have to in order to use substratum exactly as I did on my unrooted note 8?
Can anyone on here give me explicit details on how to successfully get substratum to work on my new Xperia?

You mean Fool Proof.....and no nothing is Fool Proof...for instance if you typed in "Full" instead of "Fool" you could mess up!!
Its just a way of doing it...you will lose warranty and you could brick it.

Lol, unfortunately I can't give you the external links, I'm not allowed to but first you unlock your bootloader on the official Sony Unlock Xperia Bootloader site!!! Go there and read the instructions.
Then head over to the Xperifix site and download the Xperifix software and follow the instructions...
Good luck if you choose that path...
I am still Factory and wondering whether to bother..
At the moment it lacks PIE support
Well, i got a XZ2 from my boss for xmas - i love him ( lol ), i'm a SONY fanboy, have many devices since my E10i, very familiar with SONY, so - root without unlocking the BL is impossible atm i guess?

You could install the uploaded Oreo firmware and use xperifix.
After you used the camera and upgrade to pie, the camera will still works (without noise reduction) and the other shiny & nice to have won't work.
The sound vibration system and the color screen system will continue to work.
Well, the PIE color system, not the Sony color system.
But it is similar.

If you can unlock Bootloader. You can flash anything you want and check for it work or not. If it works. Fine. If doesn't. Do it again with another firmware.
