Hey. Tell me, is there a way to unlock the SIM lg V40 sprint?
Yes. Pay off the device and they will unlock it for you upon request.
I do not live in the USA, I bought it on ebay.
The only way to unlock a Sprint phone is Sprint technical support department in the phone must be active on a Sprint account, if you live outside of the USA it will not be possible without going to the us and opening a Sprint account.

Dont know 100% but in the past with g6 v30 and g7 its been like that so we assume yes
purchased one today, when it arrives ill test with the USA unlocked or verizon firmware both found in this web: https://lg-firmwares.com/
watching on this thread.. I've asked Sprint for MSL Code (maybe it's possible to unlock with MSL Code), but Sprint rejected to give me this code before the device is paid off. Found the thread about lg G7, and someone cross flashed unlocked firmware to Sprint G7 device with octoplus box. Waiting for cross flashing for V40

hopefully octoplus add lg v40 before i get the phone, if not v40 and g7 use the same chipset cpu we should be able to flash selecting a lg g7 model in octoplus, keep in mind all this is guessing , if you decide to try you may brick your v40.

Hiya.
Recently bought a genuine UK SIM-free/unlocked HTC One (M7) online. Noticed that the Android OS is still stuck to 4.3.
I thought Android 4.4.2 is now available to UK customers for unlocked handsets? And what are the improvements to the phone?
Please advice. Thanks.
Use this app to check your CID: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.tritonsoft.cidgetter
What CID does it say? For UK unbranded, unlocked handsets it's HTC__001. I got the update just fine.

Same here, I'm from Croatia and have T-Mobile De version, but still can't update.
I've contacted HTC and they removed 4.4.2. update in some places. They'll roll it out again later, probably with Sense 6. We'll have to be patient until then
---------- Post added at 11:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:09 PM ----------
But still, call HTC support for UK and let them check your phone (by IMEI) and tell you if you have the "good" version

Reason why both of you don't have the update yet is because your CID and software is locked to the previous carrier, meaning it's up to them to release the update, not HTC.
This will wipe your phone, but it will unbrand your phone if you follow it correctly: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2358738
This basically flashes the unbranded version of the ROM and changing the CID to one that HTC does support, so you'll get updates directly from HTC instead of the carrier.
Sorry but right now i'm not prepared to unbrand the phone as it seems to me its too much of a long & winding process. Seeing the link seems too technical for me.
What i have done instead is ring HTC. Gave them the serial number of the phone and they told me that it IS Vodafone-branded phone. They adviced me to contact Vodafone which i did. The Vodafone support person doesn't seem to have a clue to what i'm saying and seems not familiar to how updates are released. He kept on insisting (based on the circumstances i have presented to him|) that Vodafone has nothing to do with updates. Person sounded stupid really.
I tried a Three and an EE SIM card on the One M7 and it works. So far no updates yet.
I can also confirm that being an unlocked phone it has NO Vodafone branding or logo or apps or bloatware on the phone itself.
So, i'm stuck with a year old phone with a old-gen Android OS.
So...what's next please?

I have explained many times that my phone is unlocked & SIM free albeit being Vodafone-branded.
So, it still doesn't answer my question: why no Android 4.4.2 for my phone?
I've read an article that One is getting Sense 6 update today! (for unlocked devices). My is branded to T-Mobile, but I hope that I'll get the update until the end of the month
Because the software is still modified slightly by Vodafone. You may have the phone network unlocked but it doesn't mean it's software unbranded. It's still up to Vodafone to update it. To be honest, this sounds more like a second hand handset instead, perhaps the original owner got it for free from an upgrade, unlocked it, and then sold it on as he was probably using another phone.
Vodafone customer support won't know anything, they're not taught anything technical, only the network side of things, which is why they can't answer you.
Honestly, you should just unlock and S-OFF the phone, and change it to a proper unbranded model if you want to get the latest updates from HTC.

But why should i get the phone unlocked as its already unlocked in the first place as i'm able to put an SIM on it?
And what do you mean by S-OFF? Is that term called "debranding?
When I mean unlock, I mean bootloader unlocking, which is different from network unlocking and allows you to flash other ROMs.
S-OFF allows you to change the CID, which is needed if you want to receive updates for another version of the HTC One, such as the unbranded version.
I have four years of owning and using an Android phone. Never been a developer or have IT skills or been into rooting phones. I consider myself somewhere above an intermediate user and under expert level.
So, it easy to unlock the bootloader and S-OFF my HTC One M7?
WIll it almost guarantee me i'll still be able to receive the Android 4.4.2 update and (perhaps) beyond?

I've rooted and s-off every phone, but few months after purchase, when I got bored with stock.
If you are doing this for the first time, even though you have good tutorials, it still won't be easy for you. I don't know anything about rooting M7 because I have it for a week, but it probably isn't so easy as it looks like, and it will take you few hours to do it (maybe days if you screw something).
If you unbrand your phone than yes, you will definitely be able to update to 4.4.2. But you need to know that if you do that, you will void your warranty for an almost new phone.
My recommendation: since I've seen that Sense 6 is already out for some carriers in US, it will probably be available in the Europe soon. So be patient and wait for a few weeks, and you'll probably receive direct update to 4.4.2 and Sense 6.

Maybe if you search you can find the OTA file somewhere on the net and apply it manually, or check with vodafone, why you're not receiving it.
Cheers

1/ back to stock, reroot, TWRP, read how to sim unlock the Sprint HTC 10 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-one-m9/general/nv-unlock-sim-t3314755
2/ download Viper10 2.5.0 (or any similar rom based on 1.80) inside Aroma, YOU MUST CHOOSE CARRIER IS SPRINT
3/ reboot the phone, dial ##3424# to open DM mode on (just check)
4/ download the firmware you want to flash, open the zip file, edit android-info.txt to match your CID and MID (don't change your phone MID)
5/ DELETE RADIO.IMG
6/ flash the edited firmware
7/ reboot into download mode, check your radio (should be [email protected]), your firmware version,
8 reboot phone, dial ##3424# to open DM mode on (if you can, congratulation)
9/ unlock your simcard again
10/ flash any rom match your firmware.
11/ enjoy
Can anyone verify this? Not to be doubtful but I'm ever so slightly skeptical.
Further, do I have to reunlock my SIM if I am to just use Sprint service?

If you've any trouble, U can back to original RUU. No step can brick your phone.
Of course, after flashing new firmware not provided by Sprint, your phone will be sim locked. I only provide the way to keep the MID, Radio and turn on DM mode to reunlock the phone.
If U're using sprint service, U must choose carrier as Sprint inside Aroma. I don't have sprint sim card so can't verify if you have to reunlock again

It isn't the first time I mod the firmware like this. In fact, HTC 10 can't flash the radio. The only way to flash radio is put it inside the firmware. I figured out it and try to keep the original radio.
The next trouble is trying to reunlock the sim card and ##diag# only active with sprint service right ? so I keep the sprint service.
When U keep the sprint service and original radio, u don't have to reunlock again. But I can't verify it because I'm no longer live in US.
Just back up anything u need because It the new 1.95.401.3 can format your phone. 1.90.401.3 was fine.
@Captain_Throwback do you think this'll work or I will end up with a brick?

I have no point of reference for this, as I've never had a Sprint 10. It shouldn't brick anything, if the firmware is all compatible, but I don't know for sure.

Does anyone have the latest Sprint radio IMG file? Thanks in advance!
I can confirm that this works! I took a brand new Sprint HTC 10. Unlocked bootloader. Flash TWRP and flash superuser. S-OFF using Sunshine. SIM unlocked it with the NV method (I'm on AT&T). Changed the CID to SuperCID (11111111). Downloaded the latest 1.96.617.2 firmware for unlocked/developer model. Removed the radio.img from the ZIP. Then flashed the ZIP. The Sprint radio is preserved and my SIM unlock was also preserved. Then I just flashed LeeDroid ROM and off I go.

It's from this thread. It's the unlocked/developer firmware.

If the Sprint radio doesn't support band 3 then I'm afraid flashing the firmware doesn't do anything. I'm still on the Sprint radio. I can't get a signal with other radios.

ZVD update for Sprint G4 LS991 apparently has anti-rollback, so no more ZVB or ZVC after update.
This prevents those that updated to flash ZVB Mellow Mallow Global GSM rom.
Anyone know of a way to be sim unlocked for GSM under ZVD for LS991 LG G4 for sprint model
Ah this is unfortunate. Sorry I don't have a solution, but wanted to add a question: Any chance that Mellow Mallow could be updated to be installed on phones already running ZVD?

yup, unfortunate. Apparently development stopped for now for that rom. My question is, does a ZVC stock tot exist ......and if so, can ZVD be rolled back to ZVC.?
Just depends on the antirollback

I can't help but wonder why LG and other brands are so against us rooting our phones. We know it voids the warranty and are cool with that. We pay a ton of money for these phones should be able to do what we want with them.

No. Sorry -- if you updated to Marshmallow before unlocking your bootloader you are out of luck. You can't downgrade bootloader. If you could that would be great -- because you could downgrade, use Sunshine and unlock your bootloader.
Sunshine for Droid Turbo XT1254 only works on SU4TL-44 and SU4TL-49, both are Lolllipop firmware.

Oh so I have to wait? I didn't download the update OTA if that makes a difference (I'd assume it won't) I just flashed the firmware when it was released cause I was too impatient to wait. Thanks for the help! And putting up with my blindness lol

This was one of my many posts on the subject, when people wanted to flash the update. We did warn everybody to unlock their bootloaders first.
I'm sorry, but you are out of luck, unless Sunshine finds another exploit. They have said they are no longer actively looking for this model, since they already provided two exploits that worked for over a year (November 2015 - December 2016). This was the time period when SU4TL-44 was cracked until Marshmallow was released. And people can still unlock their bootloaders even now, as long as they didn't update to Marshmallow.

No, it won't lock your bootloader.
If your bootloader is locked and you flash a new updated bootloader, your phone will remain locked.
If your bootloader is unlocked and you flash a new updated bootloader, then your phone will remain unlocked.
That's why we tell people to unlock their bootloaders BEFORE flashing this Marshmallow update. It's (probably) the last chance they will have -- unless Sunshine team comes up with a new trick in the future.

You're in luck. This weekend Sunshine announced they can now unlock Verizon Marshmallow 6.0.1 bootloader on the Droid Turbo XT1254.
What a difference a couple of days make.

Oh sweet! Just wish they didn't charge 25 dollars.... Just curious is the 25 dollars for every device you own or for one device? Cause if it for every device then its worth it but if only per device it's not worth it IMO.

How many Droid Turbos XT1254 do you own?
All the other Quarks have free bootloader unlock from Motorola. Only Verizon demands their phone stay locked down. So, Sunshine is a very useful service for those people who use Verizon and buy their phones from Verizon. The XT1250 is identical in every way to the Droid Turbo and runs on Verizon just like a Verizon phone, even the same FCC ID -- and bootloader can be easily unlocked for free. But people take the easy way and buy Verizon locked down phones.
The Sunshine devs put a lot of effort into finding/making unlock exploits. Or you can just keep your bootloader phone locked down. This is the third time they have found an exploit for this phone after Verizon released updates and people foolishly took the updates before unlocking their bootloaders.

We license it per phone, as there is no safe way to license per user. We already have people try to share the one time use license codes, unfortunately we cant find a way to license per person.
sunshine will not support note 8 nor next pixel.

PIXEL 2
Well, when it's released you can buy Pixel 2 straight from Google, and it will run on Verizon AND you can unlock the bootloader. VERY much like how the XT1250 U.S. Moto Maxx = XT1254 Droid Turbo, but has easily unlocked bootloader and runs on Verizon.
Note 8
Many months from being released. Sunshine doesn't have an exploit for it yet. Cross that bridge when you come to it. You might decide you like the Pixel 2 better and you won't need Sunshine again.

I really don't think my dad will do it. he's paranoid about things like this. Is there anything I can send you in exchange for sunshine? Like I guess I could go out and buy a gift card of some sort and send it to you.

I got my LG V40 Sprint bootloader unlocked and installed magisk to root it so is there any way to flash Verizon Pie firmware on it? As there is no LGUP version released supporting it currently, I don't want to wait for OTA.

Did someone do it for you? And i don't think there's anyway to flash any sort of firmware on it at the moment.
I just need to find out which firmware supports Metro by T-Mobile's HD calling and the sorts.

There is no solution at this moment
Which network does KDZ work best for Sprint and on Android PIE?
I would like to purchase a new LG V40 Sprint phone and convert to Verizon. Can it be done and be 100% fully functional like a original Verizon V40?
By the way, it will be used on Straight Talk with there Verizon sim chip.

Hi vlaaaad.. I need to fix my sprint lg v40 that lost the APN setting after hard reset. Maybe reflashing the oreo firmware fix that. My phone is factory unlocked. Thanks

Try RESTORE DEFAULTS in APN menu first. If it doesn't help, PM me I will try to help with restoring backup if we have done it for you
Hi. I cant restore default because the 3 dot on the right corner is missing and grayed out.

I can ensure you that US UNLOCKED firmware works on Sprint V40, I flash it to everyone course it is bloatware free. Also I do full system backup in case of official unlock will be done later.
Why do you want Verizon fw? What features do you need?
90% that voice via up (internet calling) will not work.

I realized that using the Sprint fw if I make a call I can't use data.
Does the Sprint V40 have to be bootloader unlocked before I can flash anything else?

Yes, unlocked or updated directly. Stock fw uses old laf which doesn't allow to flash
