put it next to other phone that you found the color to be match your preference/accurate
i normally calibrate my screen with an iphone as reference, i do social media campaign a lot, and i need to know for sure that iphone user wont see too much color difference if i post a photo which have been processed using this phone

err, using our eyes, obviously ?
thing is, not every panel calibrated evenly from factory, so taking other phone set up number is not the right way to calibrate display, since each display need its own set up,
the more important thing is that the picture showed on your phone should looks as close as possible in term of colors when compared to the reference phone next to it (in my case, iphone)
simply using other people number wont give you same looks with what they have in their phone.
this has been the case even when calibrating bigger display like notebook, pc, tv, etc

For some reason I can't make a reasonable looking picture when using the flash. Everything looks massively over exposed. Anyone else have this problem or is it the way I'm incorrectly using the flash?

This picture is in total dark.. I'm in temasek v8 rom with google Camera.
This is a room that has very little lighting.
In the same room but this one looks okay?
If you have a case on the phone, try taking the same picture with the case off.
Well, it's a bright flash, so some adjustment in the camera settings might help. I sometimes post-process egregious pictures from any source, but this seems acceptable (i.e., same setup, one shot is without flash and the other with flash).

Sort of: I meant that it might be that way for some shots, depending on the environment - so, perhaps checking the camera settings would be helpful.
I agree it shouldn't be overexposed in every flash shot, but in my example shown, do you feel that quick flash shot vs the non-flash shot looks as overexposed as yours?
- ooofest
Looks half decent to me....maybe slightly overexposed. If you could take a shot in total darkness with flash I would like to compare.

Out of pocket today, but sounds like a good experiment - I'll try to post back in a day or so.

On my S7, I was able to change the display resolution and fit more on the screen. N8 has that built into the OS but everything is too large even in the smallest setting. Is there a way to reduce the display further with Nova launcher or something?
Have you tried changing the DPI setting under minimum width in the developer options menu
No, what would you change it to so it doesn't screw things up?
Keyboard and icons don't scale well when doing it. So annoying.

i use 444 and all looks good
I run at 550 the only thing I have noticed is setting up the phone you have to keep your dpi low.
Edit : I am an idiot running that on S8 I was lurking Note 8 forums not the S8 forums my bad.

I know I should not be in here I can feel my wallet getting lighter.
I run 625, 600 is where the browser switches to tablet format. Nova makes dealing with icons very easy. I set them at 125% and scaled the icon font up. You can then adjust the icon grids to a more natural layout.
Queston. The device model works well but defaults to its values when you toggle resolution.
Is there an app that can resolve this?

Hi,
I put my wife's and my Note 8 to 411dpi then went to the screen menu options. Made adjustments to the zoom and font slider yet her not final outcome doesn't match mine or vicer versa. Attached two images about what I'm talking about. I also noticed her slider adjustment has more adjustment values that mine. Hers is the white screen , both TMO Note 8.

Looks like the dark one is running theme, uninstall the theme and see if there are still differences.

Yes you are right. It's running a theme.
This is as close I could get the two devices in font and screen zoom.
Still not identical, you think it's the theme causing this ?

Not sure, but could be. I've ran a theme and things were different, just uninstall it and see.
The answer is accessibility. If you go into display setting there and enable 'larger font sizes' at top, you will then have access to more incremental sizes regardless of DPi and theme.

Let me explain, a few days ago i found these wallpapers on Zedge that looked interesting and wanted to put on one of them, but as i searched i found there were none for the pro as far as I can find. I liked it because it gives a little flair to the screen while making good use of the oled display.

I've tried this already and the notch part of it is wider than the p20 pro's notch, and the bottom corners are different.
If you are interested I created a similar wallpaper in video format, applicable with the VideoWall app on the play store!

Make sure to not check this option and on the phone you have to turn off pocket mode too but i think overall it might not work because the proximity sensor is blocked with a flip case
