Is call recording still working after upgrading to Pie, please?
Different experience reported by many users so let's keep it all in one thread.
Please try several call recorders (preferably: SKVALEX, ACR NLL, Boldbeast) before reporting and tell us your version of P20 Pro and Android 9
Reported working setting for Boldbeast:
- Record Mode: 12
- Fix Recording Issues - Tune Audio Route: Group1
Please have installed only one recorder at a time of testing. Also please restart your phone after installing and uninstalling your app.

Copy /cust/app/HwCallRecorder to /system/app/HwCallRecorder ; You'll need root access for this.

I think I have already pointed out that it's all about NOT rooted device
Looking for a solution on Mate 20 pro i tried the Boldbeast recorder, paid version, and with settings suggested here i can confirm that it works, also in automatic mode........
with Honor 10 and A9, nothing works. Tried Boldbeast with above mentioned settings, same result as with TotalRecall or ACR.
It might be that Google has disabled this in Pie so the only option is root ?

With the settings suggested in the first post,
- Record Mode: 12
- Fix Recording Issues - Tune Audio Route: Group1
recording works correctly, only issue is that sometimes, every 2/3 days , i have to re-open the program because it is no longer working in standby, as regards recording quality everything works well for me.....
Good news
just got OTA (dual sim 3 UK 782) Pie 159
SKVALEX still works fine!

Thank you very much indeed, unlike qwerty1q I was looking for the Native / Root Solution and this helped a lot.
Edit: Two Observations:
Negative:
Now the Recorder App just mixes all files in one single playback list (Audio Recordings and Call Recordings), while on Android 8 it was possible to switch between call and voice recordings (unless there's a hack for the playback app too)
Positive: Now OK Google works. Previously it had to be disabled for stock call recording to work. I can live with that (in fact it's a huge improvement).

Works quite good according to instructions above on mate 10 pro.
I had ACR installed on my P20 Pro (unrooted).

Do you have the pro license for ACR? Can you share the recording settings? Did you use any presets that the app has?
I'm still using the free version, did not want to pay for the Pro version until I knew it was working under Pie.
Once I'd updated, I opened ACR and I had to confirm access to the various services a few times before it accepted it. Upon opening a previously saved recording from within the app, it would close. After doing this once or twice it settled down and now seems to be working as before.
Setting are pretty much default:
Recording folder: /storage/emulated/0/ACRCalls
Keep recording prompt
Auto delete off
Delete short recordings: 0
Audio source: Auto
Recording format: M4AAudio gain: 0db
Start recording: Auto

In some countries the call recording feature of Huawei Ascend / Huawei Honor phones are disabled by Huawei.
If you don't want to root your phone here is the solution: Boldbeast Call Recorder
Please use following settings in the app to record calls:
- Record Mode: 1 or 4
- Record Format: WAV
- Tune Special: Yes
No root needed, just install and go, the app records calls clearly and loudly in two sides. This is the only solution so far that works well without root.

Sorry but IMHO this is neither the only nor the cheapest!
I strongly suggest to better invest your money buying Tasker (does not require root): recording of phone calls is just one of the many benefits that can be achieved without too much effort even for non developers. I'am on KitKat 4.4.2 without root and it works like a charm. I can share the configuration if someone need.

I guess almost all recorders in the market work well for your phone, is it right? If yes, the call recording feature of your phone is not disabled.
In some countries the call recording feature is disabled by Huawei, you'll find "I tested more than 50 recorders but no one works well". In this case Boldbeast Recorder is suggested.
By the way Boldbeast Recorder is free, no advertisement. If you want to upgrade to the Pro version you need to pay.

how can we enable automatic call recording. Any Idea?
Working on b853 just install zip apk
Requirements:
Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 with unlocked bootloader and TWRP or any other recovery flashed (you can try in other phones)
AOSP dialer apk (attached at the end of the post)( extract from zip before copying)
Instructions:
1.After flashing any Android 10 rom boot into recovery.
2.Mount system and vendor.
3.Now go to files.
4.Navigate to system/system/product/priv-app/Velvet
5.Delete Velvet folder.(Don't worry system will work just fine)
6.Now move or copy Dialer.apk in system/system/product/priv-app/Dialer (create folder manually) and set permission 755. ( For user who are using magisk manager you can skip this step and flash aosp dialer magisk module from magisk manager. It will work just fine. )
7.Unmount system and vendor.
8.Reboot.
9.Now allow all the permission requested by dialer on asking or manually allow it in app info.
10.Set dialer as default phone app.
11.Now try calling and recording. It will record audio from both the sides.
Hit thanks if this helps you.

Why is it necessary to use a new dialer app to record calls in Android 10?
I know that recording calls was very difficult in Android 9, but read that problem was the result of Google programming A9 to be a ***** for call recording. That explains why recording calls in A9 wasn't just a problem when using the dialer app, but also VOIP apps like Skype, WhatsApp, TextNow, etc.

Yes, it is definitely working on ÍEMUI 10.1. You received that error message because an earlier version of the call recording app is still on your device. The P30 Pro was released with a native call recording app pre-installed. If you upgraded your device to EMUI 10 and then to 10.1 and haven't performed a factory reset since then, the old app is still on your device. As it was written above and in a similar thread post (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=83653109&postcount=105), the call recording feature was preserved on Indian region devices even on EMUI 10.1. In other regions, the feature became disabled after the EMUI 10 update. The official Huawei communication is that the call recording feature was disabled after the EMUI 10 update due to data protection laws and regulations. However, the India region apk can be installed on EMUI 10.1. and it is working perfectly.
So, if you haven't performed a factory reset since the EMUI 10 and 10.1 upgrades, you should uninstall the old call recording app.
1. Go to Settings>Apps>Apps.
2. Then in the top-right corner tap the three-dot menu and tap on 'Show system processes'.
3. Scroll down to an app called 'Recorder'. There might be two apps with this name. One is the Sound recorder app and the one with the android bug icon is the old call recorder.
4. Uninstall the Recorder app with the green android bug icon.
5. Install the downloaded apk.
6. Finally, reboot your device. The call recorder should work now. You might have to grant permissions (for me all permissions were granted upon installation). The recorded files will be in Sounds/CallRecord.

Hi, if it's ok for you to back up your call logs from your OnePlus 10 Pro to the computer, try Coolmuter Android Backup Manager. Its free backup function can help you do that easily via USB cable. You don't need to root your phone, you just need to enable the USB debugging on your OnePlus 10 Pro. Then you can do the backup easily. Hope this will be your help.

Hi, I dowloaded 3 apk's not from the google play. joneplus tools' oneplus call record and google phone. I found them here in the forum. Not always workung but most of the time either one of them or both aplications recorded.
Hi,
sorry Im newish to this. I got the phone last week and one critical thing is to have call recording on it. I went through various posts and there was some stock oneplus apk dialers (says with call recording) instead of the google one.
I managed to install and yes, the dialer apk (called contacts) works fine and I disabled the google dialer(thats fine as well).
HOWEVER, I still dont get the call recording function. I presume because it is a global version?(see attachment).
What are my options as this feature is important for me...can I flash it to indan rom without bricking it and would that help? Ive seen posts that made me hesitant(mostly color os to indian oxygen) as the unit seemed to get bricked.
I also tried some adb commands but the phone never took them. the version I have is A15. Thank you so much and I hope I made sense.

Install Oxygen Updater from Google Play, it will let you download latest Indian version .zip update (use ADVANCED MODE to allow region switch EU|GLOBAL to IN ).
After that, use local upgrade to install IN OTA upgrade.
If you can't use this metod... go to Oxygen OS Repo for your device and download the latest INDIA .zip. Then local install...
You might need an apk for local install on OXYGEN OS 12 (OPLocalUpdate_For_Android12.apk)
