If you have a retail X4 can you tell me what it says for Software Variant under Settings => System => About Phone
I'm dealing with a return at Best Buy and need to know how to determine an A1 from a Retail model.
Update
-------------------------------------------------------
The Retail version will not have a field that says Software Variant
The Android One version will say Google Fi in the Software Variant field.

I have an AT&T Moto X with an unlocked bootloader. Android L is coming out, and I wanted to know if it's possible to convert my AT&T device to the international model, in order to receive updates more quickly.
For example, if I flash the XT1053 software, which according to Wikipedia is the "GSM Unlocked US, GSM Dev Edition US, Nextel México" edition, on my XT1058, will it work, and more importantly, will I receive OTAs designated for the XT1053? Thanks.
I assumed that Moto G 2014 global gsm model is XT1063 but my phone which was ordered from amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Moto-2nd-generation-Unlocked/dp/B00MWI4HW0) as global gsm has xt1064 label on its back. Google play devices also identify it as xt1064.
The box has the 2 following sticker labels:
One label says: "B00MWI4HW0 Global GSM Unlocked"
and the other: "XT1064(MOTO G) (2nd generation) Model: 00503NARTL"
So it seems to be a global gsm XT1064.
Is this normal? Can I manually update to lollipop with the xt1064 ota files?
System version: 21.11.23.titan_retuaws.retuaws.en.US retus
Build: KXB21.85.23

I think this is the US version and not the Global version.
The global version is "retuglb" instead of "retuaws"
Hello,
just got the Moto G 2014 and because android L seems not to be arrived for german retail devices i wanted to flash lolipop on my own.
So, i got the XT 1068. I saw some people complaining about their versions and i'm wondering if it's possible to flash for example the "The Titan Prime ROM" wich says supports 1063/1064?
are there so many different devices out? ^^

regarts from germany
edit:
found a version for the 1068 but still wondering about the diffrences between the devices
Hello!
XT1068 is the global dual sim version of moto G, while the 1063/1064 are single sim.
The XT1063 is global single sim and the 1064 is Canada/US single sim, the XT1069 is the Brazil dual sim model supporting DTV.
Hi all, TIA for any advice. Just got my wife a Moto x4 Android one edition through Google's Fi deal. She had an OG Moto X and really liked the Moto Voice feature (reading texts out loud while driving).
I saw that this is only available for the retail version.
Is there any way of getting it onto the Android one edition?
Or flashing the stock retail rom on the android one edition without bricking the phone?
I wonder if the apk can be taken from that firmware
You can switch between project fi or retail. I have the retail and successfully flashed project fi. Unlock the bootloader and grab the retail firmware and flash. Someone had a Android one and screwed up on flashing and as a last resort flashed retail with no issue. I flashed from retail to project fi with no problems or brick. The only phone that we know will not be able to flash firmware is the amazon prime version
If someone is aware, as I'm unable to find the specifications, what's the difference between the TIM and the ATT model software (obviously the carrier bloatware) in terms of if the Firehose files would work, possibility to flash the Chinese 8.1... and hardware (TIM is same 4 GB RAM/64 GB ROM) - maybe being an European carrier, it has better bands?
Thanks in advance!
