So my tilt fell off my clip while I was out in the yard and before I realized it, I had walked all over it. Everything seems to function but the LCD colors area all jacked up. It is faded (mostly white), funky colored, and hard to see what is going on. Attached is a picture of it. Do you think it is just the LCD? (I can replace that for 70 bucks from blackberry8100parts.com). Or do you think I've killed something else?
Any advice would be fantastic before I waste 70 bucks getting a new LCD.

It was seidio's holster. I really like it but it is def easy to knock the tilt out of it.
If you are willing to open the tilt up to replace a broken LCD then I would go ahead and open it NOW and see if you find other damage. You are looking for anything cracked. There are manuals for the unit in the wiki. If you haven't cracked anything else then your probably ok but the only real test is to buy and LCD and try it out. I assume that slide action of the keyboard tray is as it was before you stepped on it? It it anyway stiff or off? Does it tilt up the same way and with as much ease as before?
Everything seems to slide and tilt up without a problem. There is no looseness, friction, resistance, etc.
I have read through instructions on how to take it apart. Only thing is that I'm going to get a new LCD, I need to use the phone till I get it It is usable, just a bit tricky ;-) I'm a bit nervous taking a part twice. I also don't have the right tools which would come with the LCD.
Guess I'm just going to have to buy the LCD. I can always resell it if need be.

Maybe try and open it up to see if you have a loose connector because that color thing is weird. Usually you would have a crack on the screen and you would see the crack but instead you seem to be missing some colors which leads me to think that the connector might have become unseated a little.
Any update on this? Something happened to my tilt last night and it's doing the same thing!
Probably just the LCD but it might just be a loose flat multi connector. If there's no warranty then as suggested above you could dismantle just to be sure you do actually need a new LCD. In the worst case scenario you could find that compnents on the d/pad daughter board are damaged. You can only really tell by internal inspection.

I went ahead and purchased a new LCD from fonlogix figuring I could always keep the LCD as a just in case or even resell it. It was suppose to have come with the t5 torx driver and the case opener but the case opener wasn't in the package. I emailed them and they said they were out and didn't want to hold the shipment. They are suppose to be sending me one though. I would rather not try dismantling without it because I don't want to risk anything (nor do I want to try with my finger nails). I'm hoping to receive the tool very soon so when I do and I get it dismantled, I'll post back.
I think just maybe the ribbon cable that connects the LCD to the mobo has come lose.
I know on my Hermes, this was located under the center buttoin, and when I would press it hard enough it would make a secure connection, and it would display normal color quality, and when I let go it would become like a 2bit color quality
Fixed! I went ahead and replaced the LCD and now it works. I examined all connections as best I could as I went along and didn't find any loose ones so I'm not for sure if it really was a loose connection or a broken LCD. Regardless, I'm not going to take it apart again to find out! I'll keep my old LCD as a backup and if it becomes necessary, test it out

in the future you could use a program like my mobiler I have attached it to check out your tilt that is what I did when the screen broke you can view your tilt on your pc with out the screen
you should post a video on how easy it is for the tilt to come out of the seidio holster... i was actually thinking about getting it.... but i play a lot of sports so if it would knock out easily then it wouldnt really be good for me.
The problem with the seidio holster is that it is open at the top on the sides. Thus, if you or something hits or puts pressure from the side at the top of the tilt (where the power, ptt, and ok buttons along with the wheel are), it pops out of the case.

Thanks for the link. Did anyone download the plugin? I'm getting tired of all these diffent plugins, they will slow your system down over time.
I am so interested to know if someone has guides or videos guidance to change faceplates on the Magic/MyTouch3G.
My girl friend has a black phone and I ordered her a new white housing for the phone from eBay. I received everything including tools but there was no any instructions. I gave a try from what I can see but it was not successful. I even searched on net but no luck yet.
Any comments will be really appreciated.

Actually, I need to give a try and figure out if I could just pull the faceplate along without totally pulling it apart. It will be so painful as I wont even realize if something goes wrong. Damn wish I had some videos on this.
The mytouch is easy to break down but it would have to be totaly taken apart to change out the plastic housing.

Oh that's awesome. I wasn't even LOOKING for this but it's awesome.
Just one problem with that manual, it's for a prototype version of the sapphire which has the hero style buttons on the bottom instead of the Magic ones. Now, I'm not sure if this is the only difference but just bear that in mind.
I have fully disassembled 3 MyTouch phones. Easiest smart phone to break down so far. Just don't drink any cafiene before hand. not diffucult in any way. just needs a steady hand. HOWEVER! If you have never done this kind of thing before you will likely screw something up. I have been tearing electronics down and repairing them for twenty years. The ribbon type cables can be torn VERY easily, one slip with a screw driver can tear into a board and destroy it beyond repair, too much stress removing a fragile screen can break it. The learning procces on this type of stuff is an expensive one. Go VERY slow and be VERY patient.
Very tempted to replace housing on mine, currently have grubby white Voda one and would like black/red HTC one on ebay. However, as poster said before I have little experience in doing this and nervous to do so. Not sure if I am brave enough!

I bought the same in white color says with Google in back cover, and it worked perfectly with my Rogers Magic. I think Magic, MyTouch3G all come under G2.
That might be a bad sign, as the rogers magic I believe is the 32a mainboard and the mytouch is the 32b mainboard. But then again, maybe the mainboard version has nothing to do with this. Is there someone out there who knows for sure that can confirm this?
Somebody should make a video of the housing replacement... i have changed some housings but never a touch screen phone... help would be appreciated...
Hell ya.. I was googling it for days 'n weeks. There was no luck so I went looking for phone repair shops. Finally found a chinese store and they did it for me for $20. That is my story.

This is really late and all, but I don't think that housing would work with MyTouch3Gs because the spot where you speak is on the opposite side of the MT3G

Yeah you have to. I would recommend you to give to someone who does phone repairs.
Where did you have it changed? I looked all over pacific mall and no one would do it.

I had the same problem on every phone shop in Pacific Mall. But I finally found a one in the Pacific Mall. Probably they are the only people do housing changes for Magic You got to go the area that has phone parts and repair section.
Enter to the mall from the main entrace and turn right and walk all the way down and then turn left. You can find it somewhere in the middle on your left. Sorry I can not remember the name of the shop.
By the way I had my own housing. I do not know if they carry in stock of those.
Oh man, Ive done some research and found a few local phone repair shop who can replace my housing but they all charges over $50.00 = =..I'm going to do it on my own
Okay... I'm finished.
the overall process only should be taking about 30-45 mins.
just follow the guide from step 1-7, then you can jump to step 29 which is remove the LCM from the plate.
Then put the LCM along with rest of the motherboard (watch out there is 2 parts linked together) into your new plate.
Now, put everything back together.
So tonight I was using the handy led as a flashlight and clumsily dropped the phone while the flash was on. It was probably a one foot drop since I was kneeling down while using it. Anyways, the led instantly quit working after that. First thing I did was restart the phone and prayed that would somehow fix it. It didnt. This phone takes amazing night pictures, and since I go clubbing a lot, I need it back!
Anyone have experience with fixing the led flash? or know where I can send it in to get it fixed? Phone's rooted so warranty is void.

I repair phones for a living... and in fact, I've repaired 4 Nexus One's so far... it's an annoying phone to work on (replacing digitizer, oled, port)... but luckily your repair is very simple!
There's three screws you'll need to remove on the phone located beneath the battery cover.. once they are removed, lift the black plastic beginning from the top... you can pry it off easier with like a credit card.. once it's lifted at an angle, pull it towards the top of the phone as it's slid in just a bit. After lifting the housing piece, you will find the LED module, which you can safely pry off with something plastic and soft. Do not use anything metallic or sharp as you may short, tear, or break something you are not suppose to. It's highly possible, the LED module is just loose from the fall and needs to be reseated... otherwise replace it with a new LED module, which can be found on ebay's on occassion or site's such as cellulardr.

Hi guys, need your help.
Recently my flashlight stopped work normally.
Stock miui 2.3.2 flashlight app and other one downloaded from market gives no light from led.
But, when using camera, the led flashes as usually.
I run miui 2.3.2. I flashed CM7.1 to check the flashlight. With stock Torch app the led flashes only at maximum brightness.
Any ideas? Or I just need to buy a new led flash at ebay?

I am the proud owner of a new I9000, the b*&tard love child of 2 ebay purchases. Just wondering whether the leftover entrails are worth keeping. Specifically:
- broken USB port. I have a replacement part and looks easy enough to de/solder. Anyone tried??
- vol down button. Looks a nightmare to try to replace. Anyone tried??
- chip in screen. Not worried about it being perfect but its too deep to polish out and when you put a screen protector on it a bubble appears. Any ideas?
- chrome bezel. WOWOW didn't Samsung make it a separate element easy to replace...?? Has anyone done these successfully (first time, every time), or is there any way to make it look good? Other than hiding with a case which I have already done!

look at manuals and guides in My Android collections for your answers
If you're handy with a soldering iron and have a good one (not one of those fire-starting ones that plugs straight into the wall with a handle like five inches away from the tip) then the micro USB and button shouldn't be too tricky to replace. The button isn't that terribly important anyway depending on how you use your phone.
As far as the screen chip, I'd be tempted to use one of the screen protector methods using alcohol, perhaps the alcohol would fill the gap and stay there? Probably wouldn't work, but it might be worth a try.
I replaced the chrome bezel with a cheap, crappy gold one from china (and a gold battery cover) and it's totally pimp. The bezel is actually the very last piece in the phone though. You have to take EVERYTHING apart to get it out, it's a huge pain. I ended up slipping with a knife while I was doing it and cutting the vibrator off so I spent a few weeks waiting for the replacement touch button/vibrator/microphone board to come in.
For reference only! This will absolutely VOID any warranty you may have on your device. If you believe you have a VALID reason to take apart a fully functioning phone, you DON'T! You are responsible for your actions and the reuslt of your actions, don't lay fault with anyone else.
The phone used to create the guide is my first D415. It took a long walk of a short box and shattered the screen. Let's leave it at that, please. And you thought I was going to take apart a fully functioning phone, didn't you?
You shall acquire and assemble in the same place, these items
The phone you wish to disassemble
A "precision" philips head screwdriver (don't know what a philips head is? Please go elsewhere)
A thin piece of plastic, an ID or bank card, guitar pick, even the edge of a plastic knife (file off the "teeth") You get the idea....
Optional items
Small blunt tip tweezers
Container to hold screws and such
Magnet to find the screws you drop (you will drop at least one)
Magnifying glass

To show pictures, like in @Ilxaot's post above you, they need to be online somewhere. Use the Image tag
and the enter the image URL.
Now as I write this, I cheated with the image in my last paragraph. I copied it from the editor, right click -> Copy, and then pasted it in to the edit box... Weird. That may work too. LOL

Using your guide, I successfully disassembled, replaced LCD and digitizer of my son's phone (like yours, sudden stop at high velocity) with Chinese purchased parts from eBay. BTW, didn't drop one screw lol. However since they weren't OEM parts, I've got the reversed touch I've read about and seen videos of (swipe right, screen moves left; touch right side of screen for a check box on the left side). Any idea of a fix? Let me tell you it was a pain signing into WiFi. Thanks for your guide and photos.

Maybe you can flip the digitizer 180°? I dont know if that would be possible (if the digitizer would even be able to fit in the phone the other way) but maybe it will work...

I gave up. You see, the eyeglass screwdriver I have is EXTREMELY small and doesn't fit in the screws perfectly, but it's the best I've got. Coupled with the fact that green LockTite is on the screws (green LockTite is the strongest LockTite they make), it pains my fingers to have to keep on jamming down on the screw to get enough of a "hold" on the screw while I turn it. Maybe in the future I'll buy a bigger screwdriver so I can have a better grip on it, but for now I'm done.
It's probably for the better anyway... I probably would have dropped the digitizer in the toilet or something if I got it apart.

Yeah, i dont recommend attempting cell phone disassembly while pearched on the "throne". Not judging! Just a personal decision on my part.
I wish i had the sense to know when to take that deep breath and calmly walk away. If i were in your shoes, the other 10 screws would be rounded out by now. There would be no accidental drop into the toilet, the phone would go down as the only l90 d415 to understand the meaning of swirly.... Wouldve made a great video though.

It looks like theres a flat connector between rhe 2 pieces. Perhaps it is connected "backwards"? I will look into it on my "donar" phone and see if i can figure something out. Will post findings within a day or 2.

No that wouldn't work since the digitizer came with the double sided tape but thanks. The buttons also don't work and touch doesn't work at all with the phone laying flat

Oh no, I'm not disassembling it there XD I'm doing it in my room. Just a bad joke on my part... With my luck, I'd have the digitizer laying half-off my desk, and I'd accidentally launch it in the air my hitting my hand on the part off the desk. It would then travel in the perfect arc to the bounce off the hallway wall, enter the restroom, and drop in the "throne" because the lid was left open.
I think some of the screws are actually a bit rounded off, but not to the point of not being able to work with them. That's part of the reason why I'm hesitant to proceed; I don't want to round them off completely because my screwdriver doesn't perfectly fit. I'd greatly appreciate if someone told me the exact screwdriver they used to disassemble this, and maybe where it was bought as well.
If all else fails and something breaks or the screws get rounded off completely, I'll grab a sledgehammer and finish it off. I'll even upload a video of it (and call it "How-To: Quick Disassembly of the L90")

I found a thread talking about how to calibrate the touch screen of a chinese android tablet. I haven't read it yet, so I personally don't know if this will work or not for the L90, and if they do the instructions you will have to follow will probably be way different when it comes to actually calibrating. Quickly looking at the thread it looks like one will need ADB and a computer to do this.

I'd say hold off on doing this until I or someone more technically experienced can confirm that this would work. If you do want to give it a go, please realize you are proceeding at your own risk.
EDIT: Having read the thread, those values for the screen are going to be different for the L90 since the screen resolutions are different. We are going to have to find the values for the L90 and then invert the X axis values and that should solve your touch screen inversion (we are basically creating a double-inversion. Who says two wrongs don't make a right?)

I found a thread talking about how to calibrate the touch screen of a chinese android tablet. I haven't read it yet, so I personally don't know if this will work or not for the L90, and if they do the instructions you will have to follow will probably be way different when it comes to actually calibrating. Quickly looking at the thread it looks like one will need ADB and a computer to do this.

I'd say hold off on doing this until I or someone more technically experienced can confirm that this would work. If you do want to give it a go, please realize you are proceeding at your own risk.
EDIT: Having read the thread, those values for the screen are going to be different for the L90 since the screen resolutions are different. We are going to have to find the values for the L90 and then invert the X axis values and that should solve your touch screen inversion (we are basically creating a double-inversion. Who says two wrongs don't make a right?)

Figured out how to obtain th XY values for normal screen, if someone can figure out where modifications need to be made, Im thinking framework? The values for XY can be enabled in Developer Options - show touches and XY values. Turns out 10 taps to become a developer (its true cuz i read the toast) has other useful tools. I will decompile any suggestions related to touch screen calibration.
Brings back found memories of the famed L9 P769. It only took me 6 unintended 911 calls to reflash back to stock. Yep, 6! 5 with no sim. Took less than 2 seconds to pinpoint location on last few calls. 5 cars fully lit in my front yard and another 2 setting perimiter. Not once, but twice! Threat of jail made the choice to stop obvious.

I don't know, I think we just need to go to that file that is mentioned in the calibration thread, and whatever values are for the Y axis, just change them to a negative, since according to a video I saw of this issue with 3rd party digitizers in the L90 only the vertical axis is inverted (touch on the left side of the screen, and it registers on the right side). Of course, that is assuming that 0 on the vertical axis is in the middle of the screen. If not, then it will involve a little more math to get stuff right. Shouldn't be too difficult, though.
It's probably too late to suggest this now, but I believe GravityBox or some other Xposed module can remove the emergency call button from the lockscreen.
EDIT: Just checked the /data/data directory and I did not see any touchscreen calibration data folder. I did also read something about these Chinese android tablets coming with a TSCalibration2.apk (TouchScreenCalibration) program, so maybe you need to install that first before you can find the folder since that folder is probably the data for this app. I've had zero luck so far finding a download link for this file. Will report back if I find anything.

Truly appreciate all the work you are doing trying to help me out. I'm thinking its not going to be fixable. I would contact the seller and return the part, but return shipping to China would probably be more than the phone is even worth. I was even thinking to just put the original screen back on but the double sided tape is basically destroyed. It was only the LCD that was damaged in the sudden stop, the screen didn't crack at all.

I will be updating the OP to show FULL disassembly soon. I need to sort out the pictures and point out some things to watch out for as well as some DEFINATELY DON'T DO THIS items.
The parts that appear functional are availlable for donation, FREE of CHARGE (aside from the cost to ship via USPS flat rate box) to help another, less broken D415, continue life. The lcd assembly is yours if you'd like.
I will include a list of parts for donation in the OP.
Also, if you want to try tinkering around with the screen calibration, here is the TSCalibration2.apk (It is a system app from my VisualLand prestige 7L).

Don't toss it to the curb just yet. And the double sided tape is WAY easier to fix than UV glue! Thank you LG for that. I'm seeing low priced OEM glass for the D415 starting to show up on eBay and amazon, as well.
And I still don't know what I'm dong wrong when I try inserting full pics instead of thumbs!

Thank you for the offer! That is very kind of you, however, the lcd seems to function fine. It's the touchscreen that is wonky. As for the pictures, I use tapatalk, so I only know how to insert via the app which is
