Friends,
I bought xz1c vida online and it is hk variant. I see the os is android 8 and don't see an update for pie. Any reason why I don't see pie update ?
Sent from my moto X4
Because Customized HK is still on Oreo. Check at https://xpericheck.com/device/G8441

Does that mean , it won't be upgraded to pie ?

It probably will be upgraded at some time. No idea when though. For some reason only some localizations are on Pie and the rest are postponed...
You could flash Pie manually if you are desperate to get it, but it mught be better to wait at least if you want to be sure everything works like it's supposed to and are not accustomed to Android flashing etc.

As Vofferz said . It *probably* will. Updates are released by regions. If there are some bugs, Sony may stop the update and/or not release the same update to other regions.
There are no detailed release notes for any new update (as I know of) so we can't be sure what were those bugs and reasons for stopping/not releasing updates for some region.
I'm on Customized DE and I also don't have the Pie (yet). But, I'm happy with my phone the way it is.
Pie upgrade may bring some good stuff (newer API), but also some bad things (like clock on the left-hand side and audio buttons default to media). Also, there were those possible bugs. (Some are mentioning GPS bugs etc.)
But if you must have the newest OS on your device, there is a way to flash Sony ROM from different region to your own device. To do that, you can use Newflasher and Xperifirm tools. Search for them on this forum. But I wouldn't recommend flashing if you're not experienced.

Apparently, an OTA update has been issued to the Android One Moto X4, which added the November security patch and supposedly improved stability and camera performance of the device. Is there anyone here with the Android One variant of the Moto X4 with this update, and if so, do you feel that this update has improved anything in the two above fields/what was said to be improved in the update changelog?
Just checked, no OTA available in my location atm. Hopefully soon. *I'll let you know when it does
Android One on Project Fi. Still on Sept patch. No updates available.
I have the normal Moto x4 variant. It came with the with November security patch, and performance and camera improvements. Update was about 120 mb or so. My x4 did see a sleight increase in performance and camera. I'm in the US. I received the update a couple of days ago. I know youre asking about the one variant but the updates shouldn't be too different right?
Protect fi version here. I got an update a few days ago, the camera no longer takes 5 seconds to take a picture.
I haven't really noticed anything different otherwise, I just really really miss my lg g5 camera
Moto X4 Android One.......Got my update this evening. Stability was never really an issue, but the phone does seem smoother now. Camera is faster. Haven't had much time to take pictures so can't speak about quality. Comes with Nov 1 security patch. Small update. Took about 30 mins to complete.

Yesterday I didn't have it, but I just re-checked today, and I got it now.
OTA is 90.6MB.
Just checked mine, UK model (XT1900-5) and still no update =(
this may be a really dumb question but i can't find the answer anywhere... is it possible to flash the stock android one rom on a normal x4?

Right now it does not seem to be a port available yet, it should be done soon, like it was done quickly on the Xiaomi Mi 5X from the Mi A1, but flashing directly through fastboot, is very risky, there is a high chance that it will fail and brick your device and there is another variable to take into account, the Android One is probably using A/B partitions, which I think the regular X4 is not, so a fastboot flash is again, very risky. We're still waiting on TWRP, once that is available, hopefully custom ROMs will start flowing =D this is just a couple month old device

Actually Retail x4 is also using A/B partitioning. so there's high chaance straight up system flashing will work.

That would be awesome, is there any images available for the Android One Version, that we can try and flash it?

Several have gone the other direction and flashed retail on an A1 model. At least one has returned to a Fi image afterwards, but by using a Flashfire backup as an official copy of the Fi firmware is not available yet. Something in the currently established bootloader unlock/root process screws up the OTA process, so that's something to be aware of. It'll get fixed eventually, but it's an issue for now.
just got my hands on a good used p9 plus as a replacement for broken moto lux.
i am impressed by the build quality and the refreshing miui ui on the first look.
dont know so much about the phone, tried to look up information but still a little bit confused.
Still on march security patch after two ota updates.
Got the VIE-L09C432B370 version.
Which part of the build number is the one I can use to look up more information? Cant find any faq.
Any way to update to an actual security patch?
Is there a gcam modded apk for the exynos?
Is magisk officially supported?
If not, what the best way to root?
Is miui in some way customizable? Always had pure android or custom aosp roms.
Thanks for your help!
Ok, so:
1- VIE means vienna, phone's codename. L09 is the variant, it means single sim. CXXX is the region/brand, in your case C432 means europe no brand. B370 in the firmware version.
2- there should be out there an ota out there with November patch, if you can't find it or if you want to update faster look for firmware finder: you'll find a lot of guides on the internet.
3- the CPU is not an exyons, is a kirin, and no there's gcam apk, but the official software is pretty good expecially when it comes to full manual controls.
4- iirc, no
5- install twrp and flash supersu zip, you can find a guide here on xda
6- actually the UI name is EMUI, miui is xiaomi's rom name. There are some themes out there, check the emui themes community on G+, you'll find something more interesting than what you find on the theme app.

But now it seems that i am stuck with B379 and cant unlock my bootloader anymore.
for other huawei devices its recommend to downgrad back to mm and then unlock.
It wont work with nougat.. "password wrong"
anyone any solutions without downgrade?
I was just surfing random android stuffs on internet and eventually found the "Project Treble"!!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble
After then I installed the app known as "Project Treble" in app store, this app tells you if your device is capable for this project or not. And good thing for us that XZ1 Compact is supported.
I have unlocked my bootloader, so there is no chance for getting any OTA updates.
Well, I was never worried about not getting OTA updates because XZ1 Compact is already a year old and sony will eventually stop rolling the updates after sometime, but unlike sony, Project Treble seems more promising for regular security updates and many more other things that sony will probability never provide.
As for example look at this thread : https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...device-development/rom-aosp-extended-t3821934
Here you can see that they are providing kernel 4.9, while we, who are still on kernel 4.4 even after latest pie update.
And this also : https://www.xda-developers.com/google-test-android-q-project-treble-gsi/
Keeping all these apart, I just wanted to ask if any XZ1 Copmact user has tried this "Project Treble" or not??
And if yes then please share your reviews here.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers
There's various posts about Project Treble in this device's forum. I'll leave the searching for you.
I didn´t try with the latest Pie firmware yet.
With Android 8.0 as base I was able to run almost every Treble-ROM based von Android 8.1, Android 9.0 bootloops. May be it is working together with the latest Pie rom as well.

Because project treble doesnt affect the stock rom functionality you must do the same as if you were on stock. Install drm fix and Magisk in twrp and permissive kernel patch via Magisk when in Android.
I suggest AOSP from the creator himself or resurrection Rom.
I have got no idea about Volte

As far as I know, Europe isn't part of the beta program. Only parts of Asia. Samsung promised us we will get the official release in February (with no specific day), but in all honesty, I'm expecting it to come close to March.
It's not too much longer now, so you can just be a little more patient and wait until you get the official release. The reason so many people are on Pie at the moment, is because they all flashed custom ROMs based on the various beta releases. As you mentioned yourself, if you don't want the beta (which is your own decision), then you can just wait a tiny bit longer. Honestly, from someone that's on one of the beta releases, you're probably better off staying on Oreo as long as possible, because there's a lot of changes and not all of them are positive.

All ROMs are based on the beta, because the beta is the only source available right now. There isn't anything else to base them on. Only when the official firmware gets released, will custom ROMs start being based on those.
My opinion for staying on Oreo is only a personal opinion. It depends how you use your device and what you use. There are things on Pie that are different and removed from Oreo, which might be a deal-breaker for some people. Some things are more difficult to do or get to. It was just a personal suggestion. If you do, however, prefer Pie, then by all means, get it. My point was just, don't necessarily be in a big hurry to get it. You might want it only for the dark mode, but you might also realise that it comes with compromises which you might not like.
Stable release of Pie out for the note 8 today. Won't be long before it's up on Sammobile through Odin.
Is that means i get today official OTA update or i need check sammobile and than flash it

If you're in the official beta program, yes
If not if you live in Bulgaria or Slovakia you get the OTA even if you not in the beta program.

Hello people as the title states I recently purchased a note 9. I wanted to get the N960F model but when it arrived, to my surprise it was a N9600, which is no problem for me because snapdragon is a good thing, the only downside is the fewer development.
Anyhow I have some. Questions and I would like to hear your recommendations As I'm waiting the 7 days for the OEM unlock to appear.
1. Should I update the system? My n9 came with Android 8.1.0,but I don't know if I update it would be detrimental for the sake of rooting
2. Is this model rootable? I believe so but could you direct me to the thread on that regard.
3. Would you recommended self de bloating with TB or try WETA Rom?
4. What would you suggest: stay on stock + root or WETA Rom?
5. I've seen a lot of pie complains so should I stay on Oreo or give Pie a try? I come from the OnePlus3, I'm a former flashoholic XD and 'til my last moments with the OP3 I had HavocOS which was pie based, thus I'm hesitant to look back to Oreo.
6. This should be 1st but anyway do I need to unlock the bootloader or something special before rooting and installing twrp?
7. I've read that development for the SD version is difficult and that AOSP Roms are stuck because of gpu frequencies and other stuff, but do you think that this version will receive some. More loving from the development department in the future?
Thanks in advance guys and I appreciate your time in reading and for any suggestions you may give.
yes
Just like exynos, the bootloader is unlocked and you can always root it, version does not matter, pie , oreo. and yes you can also run all the GSIs on the phone cause its a Treble enabled device which helps a lot with roms and i think there will be much more roms for n9600 as well as soon as it ages a bit and people start rooting them. You could install WETA ROM or any other ROM / Kernel, Rooting is same as Exynos model except the TWRP has to be for Snapdragon

Thanks mate, in terms of rooting, should I use official magisk of a custom one?
On the twrp thread for the SD variant people mention the official. They just recommend versions 18.1 for Oreo and 19 for pie, is that alright?
And if I update my firmware and software over Ota before rotring and installing twrp, will it be a problem?
