The Moto x4 cannot be casted or mirrored on TV without using Chromecast......is there any other method to cast.....pls reply
Yeah.. you have to root the device and edit the built.prop file to use it for mirroring.
You have to edit build.prop removing "#" from "#persist.debug.wfd.enable=1" to "persist.debug.wfd.enable=1". But on Pie this doesn't work, does work on Oreo only.

I'm sure he would have mentioned it if there was a method for Pie. Would definitely be nice though!

Yes in the US on Sprint there's only a few newer phones I've found that can be rooted but I don't think any can cast without Chromecast.
I've had an unrooted S7 for the last year but it can cast, funny thing is I have a LG smart TV & Sprint LG Gpad but no casting.
I have 2 X4s but both have the ota Pie update, have an unlocked Oreo G6, unfortunately seems on Pie no casting & can't get WiFi Tether Router working

Sorry but kinda in a time crunch...
I am needing to 'hack' wifi hotspot on my new N6.
I tried the build prop method without success. I am root and unlocked. Someone mentioned chroma to me but i dont see where it has the tethering work around..
Can anyone confirm this? Or suggest another ROM that is stocky that has tethering avalible
Thank you!
You could just add it to your account for the time you need it then remove it.

Chroma has it.
If the build.prop edit isn't working it is usually a typo. Works fine on every version of stock I have flashed. Working on mine as we speak. I used Root Explorer to edit. Most common typo was the keyboard trying to add a space after one of the periods.
net.tethering.noprovisioning=true

I would not advise doing that. As the file is from 5.1.1 there is no telling what changes to the system that has been done.

You are correct. I should have been more specific. Post #95 includes file download from CM13 (Android 6.0). Working fine for me on MMB29V.

Even then that is for that build. It may cause other issues on different builds.

I agree. It could. But isn't that what we all do here about that? Modifications that are not necessarily 100% bullet proof? And looking for feedback from others who are using it..?

It seems to me that you already know the answer. You are familiar with the terms TWRP and root.
Beside the question you need to give a motive.

Understood. It is nice to know the 'why' behind questions.
On my N6 I've LED control, but with a Lite rom of Danvdh and the cataclysm mod. Works good, but .......root and TWRP.
This is a purestock ROM of the official android 7.0 release. Not any modifications or app removals has been made, it also isn't rooted (you can flash SuperSU if you want). This rom has the bootloader, modem, kernel and all the system files from the DPLT build. This is only for G935F! This rom feels extremely smooth and stable.
Before Download please make sure that am not responsible if anything happens to your device.
Installed and tested by myself.

Not needed. Maybe do a factory reset but first try without resetting.
This is not my work, this mod is made by @xpirt for LG G6, I merely tested this on my V30+ H930DS model and it worked just fine, so refer to this post to give him thanks.
if you want to test it you must do it at your own risk , I'm not a developer so I won't be able to help, I just want to share it so others people can use it.
Instructions
just copy LGInCallUI.apk attached below to system / priv app / LGInCallUI and replace with it with the one that's already there then change the permission to 0644 or rw-r--r-- you can use root explorer or other file manager that you prefer.
then reboot
now it should work
TO TURN ON AUTO-RECORD go HERE
It is working on stock Oreo 8.0 20B, LG V30 model H930, H930DS , also working on V20 thanks to @sheik124 testing.
Thanks to @ChazzMatt for his great help
Thanks to all users for testing
Works fine on V30 H930. Thanks for the tip.

sorry, I meant if the person on the line knows you are recording the conversation. Like Google Voice, it'll announce the call is being recorded, something like that.

No, becuase there is no beeping sound so they can't detect.
Working fine on LG V20 H990DS Oreo.
Thank you.
I can confirm that this is working on the H918 (Tmobile variant lg v20) currently running the Alpha Oreo rom with the Mk2000 kernel. Just replace the apk and, wipe both caches, reboot and enjoy. Thanks to Bronnel for his testing and, for giving me the idea to test. Also thanks to Xpirt for this much needed app.
Works fine on the U998. Thanks.
