Buy Mi A2 or Redmi Note 6 Pro?[question] - Xiaomi Mi A2 / 6X Questions & Answers

Hi there,
I have to buy a new phone, the options being MiA2 or Redmi Note 6 Pro
I'm really torn b/w the two, as MiA2 has a slightly better hardware than RN6pro , and on the other side, RN6pro since it's in the family of the highly supported Redmi Note series.
I'm just confused as I think that Android one (A2) will get a lesser or scarce Custom ROMS, and I really like Custom ROMS.
Please recommend me. It would be helpful to others too.
Thanks in advance

Wait for Redimi Note 7 if possible.

the new redmi note 7 is amazing!

Wait for Redmi Note 7 or go for the Redmi Note 5 Plus. I would skip the A2 and the Note 6.

Redmi note 7 kinda beastly tho... Go for it ?

Xiaomi Mi Note Pro. Is there a new handset due?

Hi there,
The Xiaomi Mi Note Pro has been out for a year now. Has anyone any info on an upgraded or new version?
I'm looking for a 5.7 device and really like this, but (knowing my luck), I'll order and the next week Xiaomi will release info on a new model !
Thanks
do you want my opinion wait and see for one plus 3
I think asus zenfone 3 deluxe must be the mobile what you want, im waiting for it and some revew of zf 3 deluxe, sd820, 5.7" FHD 6RAM... sound so great
I would personally go with nexus 6p over the current mi note pro. As a previous amoled user, I find it the screen to be pretty dim on my MNP.
Unless you are happy with running miui, I would stay clear from this. Another thing, I should add, phone definitely heats up when running asop and early miui roms. I do not care what other user say but having the phone on charge and trying to talk to someone whilst putting the phone next to your years gets extremely hot and uncomfortable.
I would wait for one plus or even the nexus 6
PS: I'm running mokee rom.

There is a rumor that Mi Note 2 will be released mid-July, together with the Xiaomi laptop. The latest news on it: http://mobile.it168.com/a2016/0530/2672/000002672797.shtml
The specs are supposedly: SD823 (MSM8996 Pro), 4/6 GB RAM, 32-256 GB ROM, Sony IMX378 sensor, 12 Mpx camera with laser autofocus, screen resolution and size same as the predecessor, iris recognition. Pricing is supposed to start at 3299 CNY for the cheapest version.
Mi Note Pro still a very good phone except perhaps for camera

I also have both, Mi Note Pro and Nexus 6p. Nexus 6p is a little bit faster (probably because of stock android) and has a better camera, but overall i still prefer the Mi Note pro. The 6p is thicker, heavier and bulkier and the sound quality on it (which is very important to me) is complete ****, while on the Note pro the sound is absolutely brilliant (over headphones of course, speakers are better on 6p). Screen is a little brighter on the 6p, but they`re both too dark in sunny weather for me. I also love MIUI, did even install a MIUI launcher on my 6p . I think it comes down to preferences. Both are great devices, but there`s one major downside to the Note Pro, which is the battery life.

An event is planned this month... there are rumors of a new flagship.
mipro is a good phone except the software sucks (both miui and unoficial roms). for exemple semi-official (i believe he is a miui developper) ivan aosp rom 6.0.1 is using april security patchs lol and no updates... and others roms are worst and bugged. yea i would take the 6p only because of the software part, i have bought 3 phones from xiaomi and it's the LAST TIME.

Xiaomi has launched this same phone (48mp) as Redmi Note 7S in India!

Maybe this should finally push more developers to develop custom roms for this device?
Can someone confirm me that this Redmi Note 7S is also codenamed lavender or not?
If it is, than
Note 7S = Note 7 IN = Note 7 Global/CN
So yes, there will be more development.
Let's hope for the best, dude.
It shouldn’t even be a concern my dude, cause everyone is saying they literally rebranded the phone ? means there should be no change other than the name itself.

If you have Redmi note 7s with unlocked bootloader, can I have a little help from you?
Redmi note 7 (indian version) and Redmi note 7s uses the same ROM PFGINXM, then how can they have different model numbers? And if I flash MIUI after flashing custom roms, then is there a chance that I will lose 48MP mode?

Mi A2 or Redmi Note 7 : Which one to buy?

So I am willing to buy a new phone and the Mi A2 (4gb/64gb) and Redmi note 7(3gb/32gb - the one with SD 660 and 48mp camera, a.k.a. Redmi note 7s in India) are almost identical in price in my region .They both fit perfectly into my budget and are great devices. So I am confused about which one to choose. Hence I request you guys to help me in deciding which one to buy.
- With Mi A2, you'd be disappointed with the battery life.
- There's a bug in Mi A2 which causes slow eMMC write speeds in the 4 GB, 64 GB variant. Before I moved to a Mi A2, users warned me even so much as to completely avoid buying the A2 since it was so frustrating for them.
- I bought Mi A2 a week ago and haven't experienced this issue. However judging on the ranting of affected users, try to avoid Mi A2 if you can get other similar device in same price.
- Camera wise Redmi Note 7s is far better than Mi A2.
- With Redmi Note 7s, you'd be disappointed with the amount of multitasking in the stock MIUI after a few months. For current uses, 3 GB RAM is adequate enough, but MIUI bloatware consumes a lot of RAM.
- Custom ROMs will offer quite good multitasking on Redmi Note 7s. So i'd say go for the Note 7 (better camera + better battery + no eMMC issue).
For me I will absolutely chose MI A2...
Because I hate notch
Just had to make this decision a month ago
I got the A2 and I don't regret a thing .. btw the camera sensor on A2 is better than the note 7 just .. just the battery for the note 7 .. every thing else A2 win

Do you think the battery is manageable? What has your experience been like?
Not the best .. avg 5 hours and I play pubg a lot using havoc latest version
have you ever tried miui? do you like it or would you rather have a stock-ish android experience? it boils down to just this...
if you hate miui you're stuck with it on the redmi note 7 till good custom roms show up, and even then, xiaomi makes you jump through hoops to unlock it and get the custom rom up.
other then this, the redmi note 7 has better hardware, same cpu, better battery and i'd argue a better camera as well. not that either of them takes stellar pictures. i personally cant stand miui any more so ... i would either wait for official custom roms for the lavender or the mi a3.
i am currently using an a2 and im perfectly happy with it - i think it's onenof the best xiaomi devicees i've owned in terms of headaches caused but it's hard to recommend 1y old devices...
l.e. and yep, the battery on the a2 barely gets me through the day with 5-7h sot. it's not great.... the note 7 with a good custom rom and proper mods should easily last 2 days, i was getting that on the redmi note 4 with its 4000mah bateery. and yet, considering how long it took me to unlock, fijd a good lineage, set it up, i think the 1day battery is a small price to pay to get a stock android from the getgo with no worries that the maintainers siddenly drop support...
l.e2:
if you want miui (it does have some nice features) -> redmi note 7
if you want stock android: either wait for the mi a3 or get the the a2. unless youre willing to waste time and effort to go the custom route on the redmi note 7.
Just install Hex kernel, it fixes the slow eMMC write speed. You will need to unlock bootloader to do that.

I personally don't like miui but still i can manage till stable roms come out. Btw do you think the difference in storage and ram should be considered while making the decision cuz its 4gb/64gb (a2) vs 3gb/32gb (rn7) for the same price?
yes. do not get the 3/32 rn7. it might not even be the global version... and 3/32 is definettly not future proof... it does have expandable storage but you'd sacrifice the second sim. and 3gb ram is still bad.
just wait a couple weeks, prices for it should come down a bit.
I bought Mi A2 Yesterday only and I'm happy with it. I didn't buy RN7/7s because of miui and it takes a lot of time to unlock bootloader. And i mostly prefer stock. And battery backup of Mi A2 is enough only for me. Plus RN7/7s is soo thick i don't like at all.

People report experiencing slow clearing of cache data. Eg, when clearing Chrome's browser cache.
For day to day use you probably won't notice it.
yep, it only shows when you delete lots and lots of very small files. such as the chrome cache. wish there was a way to permanently disable it...

You can flash GSI's, most of them will get you a pretty bug-less experience, the only difference between the 8 and 8a is the fingerprint sensor afaik.

If you don’t need a fingerprint, an infrared remote control and you are not marketing two cameras, you can take 8a. But please note that 8 is a 64 bit system, 8a is a 32 bit system.
Sorry for my bad english. I am not literate and in Russian )))

Question By when can we expect Pixel Experience to be released for Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro+?

How long does it usually take for Pixel Experience to be released for Redmi Note devices?
Since it's got a Mediatek processor, can it also impact here?
Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro+ released recently, and I'm looking to buy either this device or Pixel 6a.
I'm in need of getting a phone at the moment.
The only negative for me in the Redmi is the screen size, as long as I can switch MIUI to Pixel Experience. The camera also weighs me towards Pixel; I don't know how effective it'd be to have GCam on Redmi.

No or few development for Xiaomi with Media Tek processors.
Buy a Xiaomi a soc Qualcomm instead.
Or try GSI ROMS.
