When I plug in my huawei p20 pro its always set on" Reverse charging" by default, so I have to change this setting to "Charge only" to be able to charge it. Is there any solution for this problem?
Is this the same every time? With original charger?
Reverse charging issues
I'm having the same issue with my Huawei p20 pro, but its also giving me a notification "supplying power to connected device over USB" even though nothing is connected to the phone.
Supplying power to the connected device over USB
Same issues here too, even though the charger is not connected still getting this notification, battery seems to be draining fairly quickly too. Help much appreciated, thanks.
Maybe the usb port needs to be cleaned. Try with an air jet, don't use any liquid.
SOLUTION!!

Hi there I bought a Huawei P20 pro 128 GB 2 weeks ago and 3 days ago began having the same exact issue, It would only charge if I turned the phone completely off, and when it was on it would be stuck to the setting reverse charge even when I had nothing connected to the phone it would continue telling me I am currently connected via USB and reverse charging.
THE SOLUTION was CLEANING the USB port, Mine had a little bit of dirt and possibly a touch of corrosion which provided a point for the phone to discharge. the phone thought it had a USB connection and was trying to reverse charge it. So I used very small tweezers off of a jackknife and lightly scraped around the connector of the phones USB port and the phone stopped saying it was connected and reverse charging, and began charging normally when I connected it to USB! So clean the port, done use liquid but maybe a small pin or tiny tweezers and lightly scrape all the surfaces within the phones charging port until the notification that the phone is reverse charging goes away! Do be delicate though as scraping it to hard could cause something to break just do it very lightly
Thanks let me know if that helped fix yours aswell!

Hi guys,
I have this problem with my tilt. I am watching live video stream in windows media player, I connect the USB cable to my computer and my phone. the yellow light comes on and it shows that my phone is charging. but after couple of minutes I see the green light blinking. if I go to Battery option in system it says that Recharging State: Charging. but I know that it is not charging it. I have to discounect the usb from computer and connect it back. then I see the yellow light back on agian. again same thing happens after 2 minutes or so. This only happens while I am using Video Stream. Is there any way to fix this? I have kaiser tweak but couldn't find any option for this in there.
Thanks.
amy ideas ?
Unfortunately yes. Have a look at you USB port. You'll probably find it is curved or slightly lower on the right side (closest to the reset hole). Most likely you were the victim & perpatrator in this act. Poor design placed the USB port to close to the reset hole, & innaccurate or misguided fingers tried to perform a reset in the USB port.
If it is not to jacked up you can VERY CAREFULLY try to bend it back into shape. Otherwise call your provider & play dumb. Say that it will charge in the home charger but not via USB or Automotive chargers. They will tell you it's not possible, tell them you took it to a store & even the sales guy tried his charger in his vehicle & it WON'T work.
From now on when you reset, use a finger to cover the USB port first.
Hello
My phone thinks its charging when I connect the USB, but actually loses power even though I'm not using it. Then when I remove the USB cable, it still says its charging. Even after reboot, it still thinks it is charging. Only way to remove the charging icon is to hold volume up button + power button untill it vibrates 3 times
Only way to charge it is through the magnetic cable I bought for it. But even when I remove this cable, it says its still charging,
When the phone reaches 100%, there is no problem whatsoever with the connection detection etc. It all works fine.
This started just out of the blue, already tried the PC Companion app to restore it to original firmware.
Funny thing is, I can still use the usb port to exchange data etc, it just wont charge. And it gives false information about it charging while there is nothing attached to it.
Thanks in advance
U will gwt unlimited battery like that
Lucky!
How did u do that?
Wish that was true! Wish that it indeed could pull power out of thin air
BTW; I tried to adjust the microusb tongue en cleaned it out, even with a air pressure can blowing into it. Still no luck.
When I connect a USB cable without putting the adapter into the wall socket, It doesn't register as charging. Only when I put the adapter into the wall it says its charging, after this it doesn't matter if I pull the usb cable out. It still says charging

Hmmm... I'm not very sure if it's a hardware or a software issue... try using flashtool instead of PCC just in case!

What is Flashtool? I haven't even rooted this device. Will try a totally different rom
Well, I've had the USB-charging port replaced. Still same issue!
As with other similar posts, I seem to be having USB issues. Neither charging cables nor OTG show any signs of functionality. Wireless charging, however, does seem to be working but I must keep my phone out of its case. Just like the others, I saw a few persistent popups from Samsung VR to take a little tour, and twice I went back to what I was doing. Hadnt seen it since, then all of a sudden while connected to a normal note 3 charger, it began to rapidly switch between charging and disconnected. Unprovoked of course, and when I went to inspect and reinsert the cable, it began again after 2 or 3 minutes. I unplugged it, promptly tested with the original charger and had no luck. Then on to many more cables and charging bricks, laptop ports and such.. no action. Tried OTG flash drive, nothing. Last ditch effort, tried wireless charging with the phone off and its working. Has any headway been made in this issue? It seems software related, and at the very least carriers could acknowledge it if so. I am not under warranty, and this is an incredible loss for me as it effectively neuters my cell phone. I need to charge while out and about to run my business and wireless isnt very portable... Please help XDA
I have isolated the problem to a software issue undoubtedly... Correct me if im wrong. The wireless charging is interrupted when a cable is plugged into the usb port, indicating that it is not faulty and the phone recognizes the hardware. At least according to my personal logic.
EDIT : The Induction charging appears to be on its way out as well. Only working intermittently, and rarely at that. I fear the worst brick possible (one not caused my my own tampering)
Desperate bump plus a bonus question: what would you consider a fair price to pay for USB port repair? Considering giving that a try, maybe I have bad solder or something. I don't have UV glue and all that other necessary stuff to check it out myself.
So, I think I have a the same issue. I had Note 5 (DUO) which was 8 months old and it just suddenly stopped charging. It charged via USB only if the phone was turned off. However, it seems that it charged wireless. Because i was traveling, in the pinch, business meetings etc, could not waste time figuring out the issue and purchased another Note5(DUO), in August. Well, just today, it developed the same simptom as the previous one: it stopped charging via USB when the phone is on, it only charges when the phone is off! I see that there are no replies to the OP message, but adding my issue here in hope that there will be some response....
Hello
Since a few days, my phone wouldn't charge, it did not detect anything when connected. I have tried different cables and chargers with no result.
In the notification bar the phone was giving a message that the phone was in reverse charging mode, whilst it was not connected.
When i tried to change it to charge only it immediately changed back to reverse charging.
The only way i could charge was by turning it of or restart the phone with the charge cable connected., but After removing the cable i couldn't use it anymore, and the notification of reverse charging would appear again.
I have tried to clean the port, this would work sometimes, the notification would disappear but this was temporarily (max 1 minute, i've read that for others a longer periode).
I found a solution, i hope its not a temporarily one, but until now it alright:
I removed the USB port, disconnected and cleaned every connector en blow on them, also on the back of the USB port (black piece attached to the bord) there was this sticky glue thing (i think its glue), i cleaned that part, some piece of iron plate was bended somehow, i don't know if this was supposed to be like that but i corrected/bended it back a little. After this it started working properly. Somehow I think this problem is due to moisturized parts.
You can watch how disconnect the USB Board on youtube.
I wanted to share this with all, in the hope it will come in handy for somebody.
Huawei stuck in reverse mode fixed..
I have encountered this problem in my mate 10 pro and I think I repaired it .. You have to clean the charging port using an alcohol and a small piece of iron .. The piece of iron should touch the piece that enters the cable and the top side of the hole together. You have to be careful and I am not responsible for any other problems you face.
Thanks for the help, I am experiencing the same thing on my Mate 10 Pro. I will have to try the alcohol trick when I get home.

Hello, did it work?
Hello
I've got my Mi 9T Pro since one month.
Since one week, I can't enable MTP USB mode while connecting my phone on the PC.
The phone is charging, but no transfer mode available in the notification panel, tried developer mode, USB debogging, tried multiples cables, same problem. I can't transfer files by cable.
Also, charging is quite erratic, If I move the phone, charging can connect/disconnect.
At first I thought it was hardware issue, a problem on the USB-C connector. This disapoints me because I take care of my phones and I never had a problem like this.
But what just happened make me doubt. My phone was charging normally (it was around 50%) then stopped charging. Tried to plug/unplug, changing the cable, same problem, no charging.
I thought the USB-C connector was dead and that I could never charge the phone again.
But I tried to restart the phone and... it works. Still no MTP mode, but charging is working, while 10 minutes ago it was not working at all.
Do you think it could be a software issue ? Or battery issue ? Does anyone had the same problem ?
Thanks.
Yes
Did it solve ? And if yes , how did you managed to fix it ?
Because i m facing same problem as yours? Pls help me
Same. Weird issue. I guess the cable has become faulty. Or there's lint collected inside the charging port.
Have you fixed this issue? I have the exact same issue you described, I own a Mi 9T, installed Havoc OS

It is clearly USB-C issue (hardware).
That's mainly caused by instable current ,bad powerbanks, Powerful/weak chargers (not the original one) , or damaged/low quality cables, and also use/gaming while charging (the heat causes damage).
Use High quality cable , Original Adapter , you will never have this problem.
bottomline , you need to get your USB-C cleaned or fixed (in case of damage).
